After falling behind 3-0 to the San Jose in the first round of the 2014 NHL Playoffs, the LA Kings make history becoming only the fourth team to come back and defeat the Sharks.
Brought tears to my eyes :) If you would have told me at the beginning of the year last year the Kings would fall behind 3-0 in the first series, win, and also win the stanley cup after winning THREE game sevens on the road, i would have called you insane.
Every single series brought both kinds of tears to my eyes, thankfully each ending with the good kind! The Kings made history in every single series in atleast one way!! I remember watching every single game leading up to the playoffs and ofcourse every game in the playoffs and I have to say that besides the double OT goal to win the cup the other moment that made me erupt with emotion and celebration was when we scored in OT to beat Chicago in Chicago in game 7! Alec Martinez’s first series clincher of the playoff run!! GO KINGS GO!!
The fact that they won the Cup in addition to reverse-sweeping the Sharks is amazing. They not only became the fourth team to reverse-sweep a team in the NHL but they also became the second team to win the cup after reverse-sweeping a team. Toronto did it in the finals vs Detroit (of course back when Toronto had a team with players over the IQ of -3).
Most mentally tough team I've ever seen. I remember watching every game. I remember that I never got nervous watching them all playoffs until game 7 against the Blackhawks. Once they won that I knew they were the champions.
@Nolan O'Donnell You're right, I'm sure all of us Kings fans would trade 2 Stanley Cups in 3 years for Regular season wins or being known as a the 1990's Bills of the 2010's in the NHL. Great point
@Nolan O'Donnell I forgot about that, Vegas must feel the same way, they were only created a few years ago and have sucked from the start. I guess they’ll make it to the playoffs one of the days.
I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan, but this was one of the best things I've EVER SEEN!!!! I lived in San Jose from 2002-2015 and I've been to many games in San Jose let me tell you this their fans are the most disrespectful, rude and rambunctious group of people I've ever seen. Yes I do hold grudges against the Sharks robbing us of the cup in 1994. So this made me sooooooooo happy! I absolutely loved every second of watching the Sharks choke like this. Thank you LA! THE SHARKS AND THEIR FANS DESERVED THIS
My nephew and I were waiting for our car and Quickie was in the shadows behind Bailey's ATV after Game 4. As with the majority of NHLer's, he's just a nice guy to talk to. Except when it came to the Sharks. "They're done, it's over, they are not winning another game. They're defeated. We're on the next series! Hope you can go to San Jose for game 7!" Snapped a pic and the rest was history.
To think that this all actually happened blows my mind, not only the series comeback.. But the last 3 years just feel so... Idk I can't even describe it.
I still remember saying to my fellow Season Ticket Holders in 304 when we were going to win Game 4. The Sharks immediately became sore losers. I said, "Look at how they're behaving. We're in their heads. They know they're going to lose this series." Looking back at it... wow. Amazing stuff. Game 4 was huge.
Game 4 definitely did give us all a tiny bit of hope. But IMO, Game 5 was the turning point. Had to listen in on the game through the Kings Radio Network 'cause I didn't wanna hear it be commentated by "unbiased" (but subtly pro-Sharks) announcers. Hearing the Sharks' fans boo their own team in the dying minutes of Game 5...priceless. Made me crack up.
Best hockey memory were these playoffs. Coming back from down 0-3, three game 7s, winning it all in double ot against the rags. Amazing. That sharks team was incredible as well, they definitely had enough talent to win the cup.
I'd have to agree with everyone in the video when the Kings won Game 5 3-0, I got the feeling also that the Kings are in the Sharks players heads. The Kings are playing their game now 2-1, 3-2 type games. Also they beat them in a series a year b4 and they must be thinking about it. It didn't matter where Game 7 was. The fact it was in SJ just added more pressure for the Sharks to win it. They're thinking about that and not blowing 3-0 lead instead of focusing on the actual game. Losing a 3-0 lead would have to make you physically sick.
no way. if kings had lost, hawks would have won the cup. the cup winner was decided by the west finals. they were the two best teams in the NHL last season.
The impact of each series... Sharks vs. Kings Sharks forever embed their reputation as the playoff train-wreck of the modern era. Ducks vs. Kings The Ducks-Kings rivalry is "legitimatized", so to speak. Blackhawks vs. Kings Both teams show that the Eastern Conference is minor league compared to the Western Conference. Only the Bruins, Penguins, and Canadiens (mostly Price) have any chance against either WCF team. Kings vs. Rangers Kings show Lundqvist (and the rest of the NHL) why it's so rare for a goalie to win the Cup all by himself.
+Carey Price? Doesn't have a ring to it Slow down, bud. The eastern conference may have been a joke that year, but thr Bruins actually were a team to be nervous about playing against.
Chills. Every time. After this series, I felt like we were playing with 'house' money. Every win was a gift, yet I always hungered for more. I love this team. Chills. Every. Damn. Time.
- Once the Kings won Game 5 in San Jose, THEN a lot of people sensed that they could actually come back & win this series. Sharks dominated the 1st 3 games, but the the Kings practically took over & blew away the Sharks in Games 4-7. It was like two entirely different playoff series in one. Look at the Sharks now, you can tell that this series may have long-range effects on their future...& not good ones. Of all their playoff disappointments, THIS one was by far their WORST.
I think it surprised the players how many people came out to celebrate their two Stanley Cup victories at the parades. The kings are like the good child in the family they don’t really get a lot of attention because they do everything right and they deserve to be recognized by the entire city, so I was really happy to see everybody come out
God fuckin bless all of u kingers fans. I'm 47 years old and live in Toledo Ohio 30 minutes north of bowling green Ohio where rob Blake played. I follow the kings every day they play. Let's do this boys and girls massive win tonight in cal-gary. See them again Monday night. Ive been a kings fan all my life but seriously fell in love with them when Barry fuckin Melrose was at the helm. Go kings go!!!
It was a beautiful thing to watch that again! We hate the sharks, more than the ducks, at this point in LA. It's crazy, but it's true. I will never forget Joe Thorton on his knees at Staples when they beat the Kings in the first round 2011. Sliding around like an idiot. Well, they've payed for it every year after that. Look at what the Knights did to them in their first year too.
After the playoffs, I felt the Blackhawks were the best team we played. Then the Ducks. Then the Sharks. As good as the Sharks were, they were still only the 3rd best team we faced.
I remember in kindergarten I got pulled out of school just to go see the stanley cup! And that's on being raised in a hockey loving fam 😂😜 I would never trade it for the world!
It take determination and hard work to win. Sharts minds are so mess up after Kings won game 6 at home. Sharts are epic failure. They got a great win the Cup in what year was that? I forgot. I think it was 2017-2018 against the Pengoons. That was the year that Sharts have their best chances to win the Cup, but Pengoons at Sharts home ice. Kings won the Stanley Cup with Black and white jersey. Doh!
nikko o I would definitely be ok with that. Would be cool if Penguins and Bolts came back and met in the conference finals. It would be battle of the 3-0 comebacks.
The Kings were a well balanced team up front and on the blue line with Quick in goal. San Jose was a paper tiger having tons of offense but their goaltending was just so-so and their defense was held together by one guy...Marc-Eduard Vlasic. When he got hurt for the series, SJ could not stop the Kings offense but Quick, the forwards and the dmen led by Doughty could stop SJ.
The San Jose Sharks have yet to fully recover from their 2014 3-0 collapse with a Stanley Cup title. Sure, people will talk about the 1942 Detroit Red Wings, the 1975 Pittsburgh Penguins, the 2004 New York Yankees and the 2010 Boston Bruins, but the difference between those teams and the Sharks is that they overcome their 3-0 collapses with titles down the road. Given the Sharks collapses and playoff underachievements in their history especially since 2002 when they blew a 3-2 series lead to the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche at the time and lost the series including Teemu Selanne losing his edge and losing control of the puck in Game 7, the 2014 3-0 collapse is another mighty setback for them despite making the Stanley Cup Finals in 2016. Unless something changes, the San Jose Sharks will still have the distinction of being the Western Conference version of the Washington Capitals: great regular seasons, but playoff underachievers.
Justin Williams Canes legend… Jonathan Quick the rangers backup.. a lot of similarities between this series and Canes/Rangers right now #IBelieve #Canesin7
As a rangers fan this hurts :-(. That Kings team was awesome so I give much credit. Maybe I’m biased but I think the Rangers would of beat SJ if they won’t this series and came out of the west
Love the vids and glad for the Stanley cup moments but the constant lens flares are a bit much. A couple is fine I guess but alternating every other shot with a lens flare is a bit overkill.
