@@bruhdon4748meme is an old paychology word that pre dates its use to mean jokes known by internet users. A meme, in the traditional sense, is a memory that acts like a gene and is passed down via generations.
Ha! I used to watch this all the time to inspire me when I was drawing and sending out portfolios to every company in '93-'94. I was lucky to have Jim hire me and get me my start in '95 before I graduated high school. Such a great guy.
He’s now the president of DC. He always come off as a highly intelligent and humble human being with a god given ability to draw. It’s great seeing him young and so early on after only reading and watching him draw on twitch and his comics.
@@sebas.4524 don’t pay attention to him, he had NO idea on what he’s saying right now as he’s just trying to WRONGFULLY start drama and cause nonsense as he’s completely wrong in ALL the false nonsense he’s saying here.
Lol just stop talking as Stan Lee is NOT a “lYiNghACk” in ANY way as he NEVER lied about anything at all and he’s the GREATEST comic book writers of all time as one of the BEST and TALENTED creators in comics to this DAY! Something that you don’t understand at all in ANY regard here as you WRONGLY spread your false lies here as you badly talk down to such a great and iconic man! There is no “yUp” at all to all the wrong nonsense you’ve been saying here, people don’t love Stan Lee for ANY of the false and wrong nonsensical statements you’ve been saying here, people LOVE Stan Lee for all the PHENOMENAL things he’s done for comics and media in general, something you BADLY don’t understand here at all with how bad and terrible your hate comments are as they only make YOU look bad for not understanding ANYTHING about the great Stan Lee. Yeah, but a big part of that is because it came out at the absolute height of 90s comic book speculation, and once that bubble burst (which X-Men 1 helped cause), the comic industry never fully rebounded, and is now a small fraction of what it was then.
@@tasman001 Trust me, I have plenty of problems with the Rise of the Artist arc of comics history, but technology and culture are always changing, so it was inevitable that buying physical comic books would stop being a thing.
I was a 90s comic book kid. I remember all of those X Men foil/holographic covers, "special editions," "trading" cards, allegedly "rare" McFarlane toys and all that over-hyped marketing bullshit that made us think that we had to spend $100 a month to be a real fan. My garage is still full of them. Easier to sell eight million books when everyone buys four copies of the same issue (and I had all four.) Jim Lee is still one of the greats, though.
Yeah, the 90's was an interesting time in the history of comics in that was when sales were at their highest point ever. Greed was rampant during this time with almost ever comic publisher taking advantage of their customers by over-hyping everything they put out. It pretty much wrecked the industry when people started to realize that those comics they bought were not really worth much because the market was over-flowing with multiple copies. Stan Lee is a legend in the comic industry and is responsible for so many great characters and stories, but it is disappointing that he is as guilty as everyone else involved in that shady side of the business. It had nothing to do with writing stories and entertaining people and everything to do with getting a few more dollars out of their loyal readers. It was a short sighted vision for a quick cash grab that would leave a long lasting resentment for most of the people that had bought those comics .
9:10 The birth of memes right there, lol. Nah, actually Richard Dawkins coined the word meme in his 1976 book The Selfish Gene. But still, Stan said (by mispronouncing mime) before it was common.
You are amazing for posting this. Wish I would've seen this as a kid, especially because I was an art student. But I'm still enjoying this today!!! Thank you!
this is where it all started, comic books and stan lee and joe kubert. too bad most people these days refer to the movies and dont realize they're all from comic books.

LOL What? Of course he would be passionate, he's MASSIVELY responsible for all the super iconic comic book characters and stories we have seen today in marvel and media. Why would anyone DOUBT he wouldn't be passionate about any of this at all or not realize that he would be? That doesn't make any sense at all to say.

He took a year off, to practice and apply to comics publishers. I'm curious about his practice schedule during that time, to improve his art. I think he already talk about it somewhere, and told he use to practice 8 hs a day, that's a commitment, but I can't remember.
Yes! It's crazy watching this knowing that it was probably filmed just a few months before Jim Lee left Marvel to form Image. Jim Lee talks about working on X-Men #8, and #11 was his last issue before leaving Marvel.
Jim Lee 90's: "The fan mail that comes in...I'm effected by what they say and be in-tune to what the audience want." Comics Today: "If you don't like my politics, don't buy my book."
How old was Jim Lee Rob Liefeild and Tod McFarlane when they started working for Marvel! I think Jim is approaching age 50! Wow! What an amazing 📼 video! R.I.P. Stan Lee I know he's watching this from adove! Exvelsiour!
When did this interview come out, between 1992 and ? Stan Lee still sounded like his intros and narrations in the Spiderman and His Amazing Friends cartoon! Jim Lee looks so young and he sort of look like Glenn in the first season of the Walking Dead. Did know he had a degree in psychology.
X-Men came out in 1991! Written bye Chris Clearmont inked by Scott Williams who still inks Jim's amazing pencils and of course drawn bye Jim Lee! This before they left Marvel to create Image and Wildstorm comics also became Extreme Stuidos! 😲 I wish Jim would leave DC and go back to drawing X-Men 90s style again! X-Men Forever!
What's so bad about being mo moved to the coast? BTW. Is there any X-Men graphic novel recommendations? I've got Mutant Genesis from the 90s, but is there anything else I should read?
