I like how Darwin starts to fit in with the waterson family Personality wise. He isn't that nran. He's just right. Tho I do hate that he became a dictator when he is trying to be super nice. That's really why I like drawin being capable of being just as mean as people in general.
I also don't get what you hate about the episode. But I guess it just doesn't bother me that gumball was not a hero. He felt like a hero because this kid got his own comic book and with his overactive imagination it went to his ego. Same thing happened to his brother because being a hero is fun. Finally after getting robbed he cuts it out. Yeah I feel pretty fine about it. And your rewrite sounds boring compared to what actually happened in the show. Would gumball even be jerk after that like how he normally is? Sounds like complete whiplash for him to be pretty ok in this episode but then go back being an ass in others.
I literally choked on my soda when they mentioned furry I felt very called out. But, on a more literal note. What ELSE is Principal Brown? I mean... he grows fur? And that's about it that's what he is
Darwins character is extremely inconsistent after season one. Even going as early as the flower, where He was the smart sane guy and very competent. And since then he seems to constantly switch from that to being oblivious and nice.
Gumball is a pretty random show, they give the characters different personalities all the time. Tobias's dad thought that Richard was cool at one point. Then in one episode from season five or six I think, he was a complete jerk to him.
The fact that a fictional preteen ice cream cone can draw better than I can just makes me want to walk upon a red carpet made of Lego. Okay, maybe not, but still, I have a ways to go.
the actual makers of the drawing are adult animators who have had years and years to perfect their craft. don’t feel like you need to compare your art to someone else’s, just keep practicing!
Cuz if we think about it, in one episode it kinda showed that no one really pays attention to him, he was just gumballs sidekick and sometimes people forget about the sidekick and only focus on the main person. So I would see why he was jealous.
I enjoy this episode. Superhero movie Reference I spotted that got me laughing and Sarah's character was enjoyable. Also, seeing Gumball and Darwin in those costume their wearing is something I would see in The Venture Bros for some reason.
I feel like the title is a little misleading. From this video, I get the idea that you felt her character worked when the narratives she employed caused the other characters-most importantly the main ones-to follow along out of enjoyment and a desire to jump on the bandwagon rather than out of pity and getting forcefully dragged along for the ride. The title gave me the idea that you were going to completely change your opinion about her character, hence the word “completely” being used in the title. Still, the video made me think about how Darwin breaking his role for the sake of the script-even if I didn’t mind them acting in this different way when I watched the episode-made him seem like a hypocrite for dropping his disdain for the delusion when he was revealed to be a superhero in Sarah’s comics. I’d say the same for the delusions he’s orchestrated in the past, but I don’t remember those episodes that well, so I’d need to see them again for context. Anyway, it’s stuff to think about.
Yeah the title is a little bit misleading My opinion on Sarah didn't really change she still guilt trip gumball and Darwin into acting out her fantasies and creepy desires about them and she's still obsessive.
I always thought it was odd the show never made Sarah more of an antagonist at any point with her stalking and obsessiveness (since she never learns her lesson and continues to write weird fanfiction about her friends after both 'The Fan' and 'The Comic'). Even in 'The Shippening' it's more of an accident since she didn't know anything written in the book was really happening until later. They just gave her all these traits and did little with them, making her out to be more harmless when her fantasies/obsessiveness have gone too far. She just stayed a one note character they used for pretty much the same plot over and over.
Yeah I think that's why she reminds me of Sierra from total drama. She never had any consequences for anything she did and she should have been portrayed as an antagonist.
Hey, I just thought you should know that last night I had a weird dream where a CGI version of you was bouncing around a red room to advertise some brand of soda or energy drink I can’t remember the name of.
What if Darwin was just angry/jealous that Gumball was in the comic but he wasn't (to his knowledge) and he didn't want to say it so that's why he was the way he was before he found out he was included?
4: 29 Darwin: "That girls got issues". Me: "Duh!" Sarah: "I've got every issue" I died because of the pure irony of the joke He says she has issues (problems) and she says that she all of them (comics). I was like um you're still not sane. Yeah she made the comics but that didn't register until he pointed that out so but yeah still crazy. Lol did anyone else find this funny? This reminds me of how when a character says something not nice and the character hears it as a question. Like "He eats a lot" someone "Yes I ate .... this morning and .... this for lunch .... so yeah I eat a lot." I know it's obvious but just wanted to say that as well.
For the most part, I think that you did a good job making your point. One part I would debate is that I think Gumball's plot (as described from this video) could work as Gumball being scared by the shadowy man and being ripped out of his fantasy.
I... didnt quite catch where you think you were wrong about Sarah. Yeah, you admitted that this episode portraied her more tolerable than others, but thats it? I didnt see where your opinion on her has changed, is what Im trying to say. I liked the rest of the analisys tho, fair points with good arguments, good work!
I honestly loved "The Sweaters", it's one of my favourite episodes. Actually now that i think about it, every episode that focuses on Sarah or Alan is a very enjoyable episode to me.
I really liked it because I thought it was funny and entertaining to see these two cartoon characters so confused and so over these TV trope characters trying to fight them like it's some '80s television show.
Season 6 to me was where Darwin was the most flandarized. He was just so much dumber in some episodes and that's one of the reasons that I think S6 is the worst season imo
I think the reason Darwin was mad was because he felt left out that he wasn't in the comic just like in the episode the sidekick (also TBH I actually really like this version of darwin)
Despite all the character issue in this episode , I have to say that is in my top 5 favorite episodes of Gumball of all time. Just because I'm a huge comic book fan and every reference and joke made me enjoy it a thousand times more. But you are right with the flaws that the whole 3 season had
I actually kind of like Darwin in this episode. It feels to me like was just acting like the skeptic because he wasn’t in the comic and that’s why he turned on a dime when she mentioned he actually was in the comic.
Good lord, the Undertale music I hear everywhere makes me think it's become public domain generic background music....I don't know whether to feel good or bad about that.
6:27 In the society darwin had no say in them actually making a secret society, they did that on their own and he was the straight man! which has nothing to do with superheros the kids song never really touched on superheros and if they did gumball was the one saying it not darwin. and the gripes darwin gets mad because hes unset at gumball for being unset and whinny. They look like their poor through events that happen because their compaining about their lives. None of this is on porpose. I know hes different then season 1, but so is gumball. They were both idiots, darwin was just more of an idiot. I feel like this isnt him getting misrepresented, i feel like this is their form of character groth.
THANK YOU for saying my problems with Darwin on this show! Sometimes he goes along with Gumball's shenanigans, other times he's just as cynical as Gumball and is self-aware. I wouldn't mind so much if there's at least a way to combine both aspects to his character, but it's either one way or the other with him. Other than that, I really like this episode.
I think you’re misunderstanding Darwin. I see Darwin as- jealous of the fact everything is about Gumball He also has a whole episode, I believe “the sidekick” is the name- was about how he’s basically Gumball’s shadow It’s also been shown in the past Darwin wants to be more than the sidekick So to me his saltiness makes sense And him showing it through “logic”, in my opinion, fits Darwin’s character
The title of this video completely threw me off. Thought you were going to complement it, not argue about it. I liked this episode, but I sorta get why you don’t? I guess you just didn’t explain it in a way that I understood. But whatever, it’s your opinion.
In My Gumball Fanfictions, I paired Sarah up with Banana Joe. But in My Current Gumball Fanfiction Fire of Droculus, I'm thinking about breaking them up, so Sarah can be more like how she is in The Show: Obsessed with Gumball and Darwin.
@@mr.misfit9514 Oh I'm serious. I kinda want too TRY and Make my Current Gumball Fanfiction feel like a Gumball Episode Sometimes. And also No I don't ship Sarah with Gumball or Darwin. I support Gumball X Penny and Darwin X Carrie.
Shoutout to Gumball for doing the right thing, instead of risking yourself or your friends when assaulted you are better off just giving them what they want. Specially if its just money.
you forgot to mention the time when darwin was watching a movie called "man man" or something "he was bitten by a man and was given the powers of a man"
I sorta agree Sarah should be some type of antagonist she somewhat reminds me of Sierra. She literally guilt trips gumball and Darwin enforces them to go through things they don't want to and act out her own fantasies and desires. IT'S CREEPY AS HECK.
I’ve never seen this episode but it seems like whenever Darwin plays this role it’s to keep gumball from getting a swelled head, because we all know THAT never ends well
So about Darwin. Is this the same season with "the bros" in it ? Because that's the episode I remember where Darwin was the most out of character and selfish. And the safety.
5:41 I think it would be funny if he opened his mouth and there was a Spongebob-style censoring dolphin noise, as if he actually swore to him, and everyone was all silent and shocked and stuff XD
I think Darwin wasn't supposed to be a sceptic here but rather jealous that he isn't included (that's why he changed his opinion so fast once he got a role). It just seems like they haven't shown that very well
Harold, Tobias dad, in honest I saw him as annoying. But hated him in the episode where he bullies Richard, but had a somewhat of a okay ending. Forgot the name of the episode.
I mean the writers are basically telling as that Darwin grew up and became a bit more bitter. Yes he’s still wholesome in some ways but he grew giving the audience who saw him grew happy to remember how far he got. I do fill kinda of bad hes no the character we fell in love but that’s writing for ya. Btw they made an entire episode that basically said that Darwin was a gumball but fish. But still I get you’re point I just hope you can understand mine.
I know it's 2 years old but...a little too much scrutiny. We tend to cut cartoons some slack. Since the fan base is supposed to be kids who won't notice, not adults who write fanfiction...
