The Coming Car Market Crash Will Wipe Out Millions Of Americans And Affect Everyone

Here goes some news most Americans have been waiting for: The cost of cars and trucks in the United States is finally dropping, and new research shows the downward trend has been quite significant on vehicle prices already. Experts at InvestorPlace.com are warning that the latest developments are, in fact, proof that the auto market crash has begun, especially considering how fast these changes are occurring.
In this environment of higher interest rates, and rising inventory levels, Blue Book values have been consistently declining, with analysts projecting a reversal in the market happening this spring, and alerting that prices are on their way to find a bottom.
We're officially in a buyer's market, they say. Dealer incentives are up 102% year-over-year, according to fresh data. We're now being told that the long-awaited crash is going to give Americans much better changes of finding an affordable vehicle in 2024, and also that the conditions which helped to fuel the auto price bubble and overall inflation for nearly three years are no longer in place, setting in motion the much-needed correction everyone has been expecting for.
Cox Automotive reports that the recent price declines are due to a vastly expanded number of vehicles on dealer lots after years of severe shortages. With more cars and trucks available, the pressures that had sent prices surging are disappearing at last.
At the start of April, American dealers had almost 3 million new cars, trucks, and SUVs on their lots. For comparison, one year ago, that supply was standing at just 1.7 million. This is one of the reasons why many analysts and dealers say 2024 will be the most affordable year of the past five in which to buy a new car or truck.

The current market/economy is unnecessarily tougher for boomers/senior citizens, I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.

@American-Motors-Corporation
@American-Motors-Corporation Месяц назад
Actually it's more like people are paying $45,000 for car that frankly shouldn't be any more than 15 to 18 South in some cases I can even argue as little as 8 to 10,000 I know that everybody talks about the option but one thing people fail to realize is most of the option on a car today have been available options since the late '80s is the very least I mean power windows power door locks is something that was offered even in the late seventies yes it was an expensive add-on in most cases it wasn't really until the '80s that it became standard especially on cheaper cars basically Chrysler was the one that introduce the concept of throwing people a couple of bells and whistles while not overcharge that was the whole concept of the cake Laker hate the k car it doesn't matter the bottom line is it gave you power windows locks as standard unless you went in there and told them that you wanted wine down Windows what not and it happened to be something they could offer you got electric windows and power door locks at the very least those cars also came with cruise control I know my father owned two of them. So air conditioning has been standard on vehicles for very long time awesome I mean I get it today they want to turn the damn thing into a cell phone Wheels but that concept is also old I mean yeah the cell phone equipment they were putting in the dash 18 years ago right it's much older compared to what they're putting it today however today the city electronics that they're putting in are probably far cheaper for them to offer than what they had 18 years ago so one way or the other they are indeed scamming your ass. By the way in which the dealership manufacture relationship works no matter if it's cars motorcycles or frankly lawn mowers it's simply that the dealer has to charge an X over what the hell you would otherwise be able to sell it for simply because it takes a lot of money to run a dealership and then those cars are exactly bought out right for them to sell to you in most cases they're getting those on a credit deal from the manufacturer they have to pay so much upfront but once they do that everything is set in motion that they have to take these cars and of course in a lot of cases you don't really get to just put in an order and pick and choose what cars you want to sell the manufacturers in most cases lay out what you are going to sell so even if they don't sell you have to take them you don't have a choice the concept of buying from the automaker directly sounds like a good one but the concept is too much for them to run as well as being a manufacturer it's not going to work selling direct out of the factory is something that they cannot realistically do and in a lot of cases they may actually charge you more than what the dealership would otherwise charge.

They need to allow the consumer to buy directly from the maker not from the third party dealer. It would be cheaper!!!
@American-Motors-Corporation
@American-Motors-Corporation Месяц назад
Wow one would think it would be cheaper but given that the mass majority cars for finance really it wouldn't make much difference in the long run then you would have the situation of service via warranty. That's primarily why the auto manufacturers frankly even though motorcycle manufacturers as well as even some versions and or brands of lawn mowers end up in the handsome dealers and that is simply because of the fucking warranty work of course one can argue if they would only approve quality they would have less of that to deal with this is true but in order to improve quality this means spending more money to manufacture it thus mitigating the cheaper price that one thinks they can get it from the factory for. There's always going to be market you're not going to get rid of that it's an old sales tactic to get people to buy into the concept that if they buy direct they can shave off X percentage of a market and in some cases it may be true but in a lot of those cases it's hardly 5% of the overall market and industry standard throughout any form of retail is 20% markup above what you paid for it wholesale. I mean the car companies can hardly get together to build cars much less open a retail division to sell the cars directly to the public. I mean I agree that the dealership model ads significant costs to the retail price sticker and I will say that a lot of that inflation by the time the vehicle gets on the lot for you and I to see is purely made it bullshit it's basically just dealerships trying to scramble for what little bit of cash there is to be made this is why they're all about selling you credit services rather than getting excited when somebody comes in and announces they're paying cash they really don't want cash they want you to take the credit services they make far much more money. So if you bought directly from the automaker they too would most likely prefer selling you the credit services over how much you could pay off at the time of signing the loan agreement or whether or not they could price it to where more people could by the car out right they're not in the business of that anymore everything has strings attached through some form of financing basically these industries are addicted to the finance game.

Well it's like any best you know for years Dave right around and said that the Ford F-150 is the number one selling vehicle in the world and for a long time they were correct so like I say it's just like with any other business the product sells till one day it does and then you have to figure out why it's not selling and then you have to make adjustments from there the problem that most of us I believe will point out across the board would be that the price is too high the problem is canford go any cheaper on of course they don't get the manufacturer necessarily set the price they have a suggested retail price but it's really up to their dealer Network to determine the value of these things so you have a lot of markup because of the dealerships that market can't necessarily be removed a lot of it is made up bullshit I will say that that they're just charging because they can and a lot of it is made up charges included in the price but there's also a situation to where the dealership has to make so much on each one or they go under it's a high pressure business and if you don't have customers coming through the door you can't really sell these things and when you do get customers coming through the door will you better have a decent offering otherwise people are going to go elsewhere. Right now for it seems to be the one that's having trouble but what you're not talking about where GM stashing their fucking vehicles. And I wouldn't doubt that what remains of Chrysler is having a lot of the same trouble nobody wants a Fiat.

My plan was to keep that Honda for 5 more years it had 69,995 miles on it and I had quotes from car max at 22K and Autonation at 24K 3 months and 5K miles ago. The GM came up to me with his business card when I was in the service waiting area. He had two numbers on the card 1 = 26K trade in 2nd 55K Elite Odyssey $7,000 off sticker so 48K. Wasn't in the market but I can't pass up a 2024 loaded Elite Odyssey at $409 per month. Heck the 2019 was going to depreciate $150 to $200 a month after I dumped $3,000 in it for transmission fluid, brakes and rotors and a new front window.

Im in the car business and this is bullshit. Inflation is getting higher and car are as well. A used car at auction that was valued at 5000 four years ago will sell for 9000 to 10000. Thats wholesale. That doesn't include all the costs of getting the ready for sale. All the mechanical, cosmetic and maintenance repairs needed. Most small car dealers are going out of business because the profit margins are so small they don't cover the cost if running the business. The only thing that will drive the price down is a massive amount if repos bug there are no cheap affordable cars those people can buy after their car is taken back to the bank so there really is no end in-site unless thd economy completely turns around and people have disposable income again which wont happen for at least seven years. Not to mention the push the government will do to force you to buy electric by making a gallon if gas unaffordable. I'm just a dingbat on the internet and don't know much. What I do know a pretty good amount about though, is history and economic /banking cycles. DO NOT BUY A CAR IN 2024. Do not be tempted by rebates or persuaded the market is close to bottoming out. It is not even remotely close to bottoming out. Price discovery is a function of not just supply & demand, it is also very much subject to sentiment and liquidity. Sentiment meaning optimism or pessimism when considering a particular purchase or sale. Liquidity meaning you either have the money or you don't. (borrowing capacity, liquid cash on hand, liquid assets that can be sold and money repositioned to buy something else) If you buy any time between now (May 10, 2024) and January / February 2025, you will be giving away at least 25-40% of the price of that car now vs what you will pay 7-8 months from now. And no, it does not matter whether the Fed cuts rates or not. There is a lag effect from policy decisions like that and usually take 6-12 months to work their way into general markets. The impending crash in general asset prices relative to where they stand today, May 2024, will make 2008 / 2009 or 1907 or 1920 or 1929, look like a mere inconvenience. Do your homework and look at the financial and total market conditions that led to those events and what is going on now with the 25 year long EVERYTHING BUBBLE that has been inflated by interest rate suppression and showering financial markets with new currency created out of nothing but thin air by central banks around the world. POOF!! you have instant new cash from nothing and it's free by the way, so enjoy your net worth going to the moon on paper if you are the 1% of asset owners or a big bank. ANYONE that is telling you to buy a car now with prices declining and incentives going up, that person or dealership is trying to use YOU to solve HIS problem. His problem? He has illiquid capital in the form of that overpriced car or house or motorcycle that he is trying as hard as he can to turn into liquid capital at your expense. He just wants it off his balance sheet. ALL of that inventory (house, cars, motorcycles) on dealer lots and manufacturers, builders etc., is leveraged. That guy owes money on it and the longer it sits, the more money he loses until he throws in the towel and sells at a loss or goes bankrupt and everything repossessed and sold off at bank auction. This is what the beginning of deflation looks like. Don't be suckered into piling in too early with your money. Time and patience are your friends right now. And yes, you can take that to the bank.

New cars, boats, RV's etc. are not investments, they are toys. If you can't pay cash, don't buy them. FWIW I do agree with you although I think 2025 will be worse. I'm a 71 year old investor, massive deficit spending like we did in 2019-2021 won't be doable this time, IMO. This isn't a bad time to keep your money safe and earn 4-5%. Many tech stocks [and others] are way overbought, once the correction starts, stop loss selling will accelerate their fall. Look at the heavily mortgaged overinflated housing market, you remember what happened to banks in 2008. People don't pay mortgages or car loans when they have a huge negative equity. I sure hope I'm wrong, but I see rough times ahead. I'm not going to discuss the 4 wars that now exist except to say the next one will be against Iran, unless China attacks Taiwan first. It's not the time to finance a new vehicle, boat or RV.

That is not correct. Many people have positive equity with or without a car payment. Of course, negative equity is not relevant unless the person having the negative equity is trying to sell or trade their vehicle. People with negative equity at any give time will eventually have positive equity if they make all agreed-to payments.

Well car market maybe adjusting but I will say the bigger crash of these products is not dropping the price 5 to $10,000 I don't even think it's dropping the price $25,000 just to shift the product The real crash happened when dealerships themselves are basically forced to liquidate and go under. I would say we're on the verge of this I mean take a 30 mile radius I mean in most cases that's going to be stacked in the breath with about 15 different dealerships offering roughly the same shit I mean no one area can really support this anymore if they even really truly could a lot of these car sales are heavily dependent on well in fact the majority are heavily dependent on credit dealerships make most of their money selling your credit services which is basically the low and finance options they don't make any money if you pay in cash the problem is who in the hell is walking around with 45,000 cash virtually no one so that's just part of the reason why cash isn't even really an option to compete with the credit services anymore I mean back when they were selling cars for say 5 to $8,000 basically in the early eighties yeah cash was King still and the reason being is because good old boy could raise five to $8,000 cash over certain period of time and then go anywhere he would like and purchase whatever it is he wanted nowadays the amount of money that you're going to raise even if you did come up with 45,000 and you was able to go anywhere you want and buy these products they don't really consider it a boost to their business because they think about what they're going to miss out on on the long term of selling the credit services see they get a kick back every time somebody gets a car lot and the money that you would pay in cash all it does is by the car it doesn't actually surpass what selling those credit services are worth. Here's the problem you can only sell credit services until one day you can't when you run out of people that would qualify for even the lowest amount no longer qualifies if you're effectively fucked you've built your business on a house of cards most dealerships have done this of course most of that industry runs on credit just to even get the cars to the lot it works this way in motorcycles it works this way in lawn mowers any products that has a dealer Network basically works this way you are told what cars you will be getting how many they expect you to sell thus the ones that you'll be getting in those amounts and you don't have a choice if you cannot pony up x amount of money before delivery then you may have credit options with the manufacturer meaning over half of your inventory is going to be on credit so you are really truly under the gun to sell sell and sell the problem is if you don't have customers there is no one to sell to dealership waves bye-bye. So I would say that's the other problem the dealership's go under it won't be all of them but they'll be another thinning and then the ones that are left they will be the ones to command the high price so the price is good you could say across the board drop but per each vehicle in terms of actual price drop when you get there to the dealership it may be no cheaper than it was a year ago it's just there was a portion of their inventory that dropped 2 to $5,000 for vehicle and this is what the statistical information of the overall market picked up but this particular car that you're looking at might not have had a price drop at all in fact it could have had an increase.

The Govt push to EVs screwed up the recovery, the crash right now is focused around EVs, CBEs are still experiencing high prices since the manufacturers slashed production, but demand was still high so new and used prices are still up. The video needs to break down by what is the market price for CBEs and EVs since buyers typically don't crossover. I am only interested in a CBE or hybrid since I will use this car for road trips and it will be a family car. EVs are simply not functional in this fact since charge times are too long and ranges drop in cold weather. Also, it's a family car so I need to the ability to fill up quick if an emergency strikes.
