I can see why you would see the price increases that way. The increased bottom/line prices have several components though, some are negotiable and some are not. Inflation of the cost of goods manufactured and labor costs are usually here to stay. Dealer fees, markups, manufacturing discounts to retailers, and profit objectives are variables. I believe these variables are what the video is focused on.

I tried to do a motorcycle deal yesterday, dealers don't want trade ins. They have virtually zero used inventory, and very little new inventory. They just don't want used bikes, they're offering as little as 50% of low book. Now, they're not willing to deal on leftover 2023 bikes, but they say a used very late model low mile bike is basically worthless. I told the one salesman "so you're telling me that buying a new motorcycle, like what you're trying to sell me, is the worst thing I could do in the current market?". At the time of signing she noticed an extra $2,000 fee. They described it as a security package. My daughter told him I don't want an alarm. Suddenly it became an insurance package. If you're looking at a few different models/brands look at the insurance rates on different trim levels on all of those brands/models. Pretty shocking how they can vary, and it can save you in ongoing costs. Example: the difference between a 4x2 and 4x4 truck (same brand and model) can be quite substantial, so if you don't need a 4x4 get a 4x2. .

You don't need a broker. You need to just say no and refuse and be polite and hold out... It takes a couple weeks sometimes, maybe a month to get the dealership to come around and always have plan 'b'. When you go into a dealer and get to talking price and they know they have a 'hot' buyer, if they have any business sense, they will not let you go to their competition or go to a plan 'b'. They will come around and you will get a good deal. Just be stalwart and everytime they call back, or email you, tell them you're looking at other cars because you just don't think you can afford their car. Anyway... Good luck.

Even private sales or dealers on sites like Craigslist if I see phone calls only no text or email and they claim it’s to avoid scam bots. No it’s most likely so they can deny what they said to you and if they won’t give me specifics on pricing etc they don’t get my business

Why is so hard for dealerships to list the OTD price?
@jerrylundegaard2592
@jerrylundegaard2592 Месяц назад
One reason, sales taxes are different in different locations.
@jerrylundegaard2592
@jerrylundegaard2592 Месяц назад
Also, OTD prices are not what you should concentrate. You should concentrate on the final price before mandatory state fees (e.g.; registration and sales tax). The final price is the price plus any fake dealer fees (any fee which is taxed is a fake fee) and any add-ons the customer wants.

You say Mazda is very negotiable right now and that’s surprising. When I was selling them they had mat pricing, were strict as shit, and always had the least amount of discounts of the brands I sold. The struggle is real for automakers right now.

Just saw a Mazda three for $36k and I am sure it has bells and whistles, but also saw a 2023 Malibu with 2k miles for $20k. If you need transportation, do not go BIG.
@big0bad0brad
@big0bad0brad Месяц назад
Yeah but I bet the 3 is twice the car as the Malibu, I'm at 204K miles on my '3 and still under $1000 total lifetime repair costs (and zero brake work done, original pads, mostly by downshifting). I'd shit myself if the Malibu could do that in an automatic version. You can't find a used Mazda 3 skyactiv for under 4000$ that's running because the maintenance is so cheap.

@@big0bad0brad less than 1k lifetime repair? is it because you do your own repair?
@big0bad0brad
@big0bad0brad Месяц назад
@@uche007us I do my own basic stuff like oil changes and battery replacement, headlights, air filters... I don't really count that in there because they will fail no matter what. I pay to have a shop do tires because I can't balance them myself anyway. Ecopia EP422 Plus is what I recommend, if you have Turanzas, get rid of them cuz you can't corner without them screaming. But for car specific failures, I've replaced 2 wheel bearings and a control arm (really only the ball joint was bad but it's not easy to separate it with the way the control arm is made). Under warranty the window lock button was fixed, and there are minor issues that I elect not to fix because they don't affect driveability. But besides the stuff you have to expect to replace, it was only the 3 parts so far to keep it going down the road. Soon I will need to replace the coolant pump and belts, and a couple rear support bars. The shocks are toast but I'm leaving them deleted because they don't affect my use of the car.

When I need a new truck or tractor I negotiate over the phone with 3 dealerships, if a dealer will not do a ph negotiate fine I'll move on. I like to 'build' my new truck so very dealer gets the same base line to compete for my business. No need to get lied too. Generally 3 months down the road I receive the exact truck I wanted for the price I was happy to spend.

I spend only under retail. If retail prices are raised in the future, I won't fall for it because I look for bang per buck. I have just bought a car for $3000 without financing. It’s a 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid that gets 44-50 mpg even with its high mileage at 231K miles I expect it to last at least another dozen years. My previous cars bought new without financing had been the 1984 First Generation Toyota Camry LE, 1985 Toyota Supra and 2005 Toyota Sienna. They all drove past 300K miles reliably and without any major repairs.

I clicked because I saw Mazda on the thumbnail. I will never buy a mazda again. Bought a 2016 3skyline when it was new, and then the infotainment system started encountering problems 2 years later. At this point the screen has been melted for about 4 years and reloads every 30 seconds. Even when I've pulled it in to the shops to be addressed, they've only every charged me to "reset" it which never fixed any problems at all. The only option I've ever gotten otherwise is a total reinstall for thousands of dollars. My 2018 Kia Sorento still runs and functions like new.
