I took some creative liberty there, as this is the most funny example of Ai use for music I could find to provide the audience with a laugh. *Luckily this factual error had no bearing on my core message. In my mind, it serves as a stark reminder that 100 years ago, patents and IP did not hold the same stranglehold over collaboration and innovation as it does today.

Yes, a better presentation could have begun with the 4 minutes long RU-vid video of the Neo4j LLM Knowledge Graph Builder. If the Builder processed statements and questions input by users the same way it processed text from pdf format files, video transcripts, and Wikipedia articles, it could become a form of collective terrestrial intelligence. Building such a conversational global digital platform might be humanity's highest priority.

Such a Presentation would not be better, because the audience would leave the room and I would never be asked back to speak anywhere. This talk was not meant to be another boring scientific presentation for the audience to take a nap on. It was meant to make people aware of where things are headed, normal people, people from all walks of life. Thank you for your feedback though.

Hey buddy, for the pond question. It is missing one important information: "at day 30, the pond is full with littles", otherwise, you can't say that it is 29, because you don't know the correlation between the lake/pond and the number of lilies. Otherwise, it is a very nice way to explain to people the impact of exponential growth.

Yeah, you can also go this route, but it becomes more complex. I think just making a simple correlation should do for this case. "On day 30, the pond is full of lillies"

Thanks. Having done a version of this talk over a 100 times, not every version is exactly the same. It is infered that the pond is full on day 30 and usually I mention that. I apologize for the error. This was not my best version, I'd been on 3 planes, flying 8 hours and been in a car 12 hours to get there, and I'd barely slept. not an excuse, but hopefully circumstances that provide me with some leeway.

This is very possible, but the physical distance in space will be a very real obstacle, despite our great advances in technology coming up. Unless we realise some kind of warp-speed travel to break the speed of light, or some kind of wormhole tech, it might take a bit still before we can leave the solar system without having to build generational ships.

I am sure you are a professional with decades of experience like myself, so I'd be happy to learn from you. However, in my personal experience, keeping an audience engages requires them to be a part of your talk, and not being talked to as if they are a wall. Some audiences are toughter than others, and when people are not native english speakers, it can be hard to follow everything, which can interfere with interaction or humor.

What about Gobeklitepe dated 11800 years ago, did they just farm around the megaliths or did they spend a lot of time before 11800 years building them with mathematics and the knowledge of the stars. 🤔

It's impossible to give a talk and consider all theories. Historians generally consider the Agricultural revolution to have taken place between 30 and 12 thousand years ago. The pyramid age began around 2686 BCE, which is 4710 yhears ago.

That graph is adjusted for inflation already, so mentioning that the 2023 dollar is worth less is incorrect for the context of the graph. And that's calculations per second per dollar, not sheer calculations per dollar. Other than that I'm on board so far.

This Talk is not meant for people who are already in the loop. As such, your experience is more to do with your appreciation of my talk than any conscious attempt on my side to make you feel that way. I do intentionally talk sometimes as if I am dealing with children, because it makes for a much more engaging and challenging talk, that actually pulls people out of their standard response rythm. Emotions are powerful tools and if evoked correctly, even aversion can allow a speaker to get his audience to consider his words more carefully.

We dont need cats and dogs, but there are more of them today than ever. Although a robot dog wont bring home fleas. But still they cant replace a real goodboy. Ive read the eula for fortnite, and the assets you create/import are yours incl use outside fortnite, the premade assets provided by epic are theirs. So many brands are using fortnite to advertise otherwise they would lose their own brands (doritos, honda, adidas, disney, travis scott metallica). I love that will smith eating spaggetti and arnold are the benchmarks of ai, and ai is still at the confused stage of memes.

Good point, although in reality if Fortnite takes it's servers offline, you have no claim. Thus you do not actually own anything as you have no control over it.

@@IMMetaverse, thank you for this talk, a great life lesson about being necessary on this planet, we really do think too highly of ourselves but we should strive to do something worthy of our time even if it just makes the person, we see, in the mirror proud. I agree, if fortnite goes offline your map is toast, but the agreement says anything you bring such as a unique idea, or asset/character can go to other media, eg i can make a tv show about a cat named fred that i imported into fortnite as a protagonist or npc, but only if it is my ip. The fortnite provided assets are theirs still. Epic have really cared about the creators like youtube, a yt content creator can make a tv show about their own brand, youtube dont have exclusive rights. Popular Fortnite creators get a decent pay day too.

1. From having done this talk over a 100 times now, I can tell you with absolute certainty. Most people don't know those things. 2. Sometimes knowing the facts and actually seeing how they tie together are two very different things. Knowledge is knowing a Tomato is a Fruit, Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a Fruit salad.

Ahahaha very sharp and attentive. I have indeed styled a a few graphics after his, and some of what I say here can also be read in his waitbutwhy.com blog from 2014. It was actually my inspiration for totally pivoting back to Future-history, as I call it, the study of how Technology and Humanity are related, symbiotic, and develop along such different trendlines. Just for the record, I give Tim Urban credit whenever I can, but I don't always bring it up in my talks.

You are correct, but sometimes the truth isn't half as interesting. I have been in touch with him myself. He used Ai nevertheless, the point was to make tha audience laugh and take deepfaking and Ai serious, while having some fun. I achieved those goals. Being a speaker is not always just about being a 100% accurate on everything, because that takes the fun and the intrigue out of any story.
