Not really...It's boring, very boring..they look at each other all the time, both of them singing all the time...boring....It was a good idea, but they made a lot of bad choices...It doesn't deserve to be in the top 5. Good singers are not enough.
***** I'm not telling them to dance. Just only to move out some part of ther bodies (to stand uo, to rise their arms up...). When people sing they move their body, that's what people who are not singer do. It's not being fake, it's being expressive...That's why I said choices are wrong.
Everything about this was perfect. The song is really special, the performance was simple but extremely effective. The staging made it whole, it was dark and they were looking at each other throughout, making eye contact. It was as if they were singing to each other, and there was nobody else around. It was wonderful...
It was nice to see The Netherlands do so well after being kept out of the grand final so long. 2nd place is nothing to be mad at and I'm sure their country is very proud of them.
No it hasnt, they did just good joke of this show, I could consider this if this conchita would have really good voice, or song, but his not. The Netherlands is the real WINNER! Shame for europe for that choice of winner, terrible taste of music, or i should say, this is no more song contest.
I'm not a fan of country music but this is definitely a true winner. Simple , calm and great mood. Greetings from Poland. I'm glad that you've got max from us. You really deserved that.
Katrine SHINee Awh. I love Lay. :3 & indeed. I wouldn't have mind this winning at all even though I was rooting for Hungary but I'm pleased nevertheless. :D
Still love this song, makes me happy that my country, Germany, gave the famous "douze points" to them. You can still hear this song on the radios, and I'm still very quiet when I listen to this. Thanks Ilse and Waylon for this magic moment!!❤️
They stayed true to the actual meaning and feelings behind the song. It was congruent to the deepest level. That this came in 2nd gives me some faith in people's taste. The winner only proves people like to be shocked and have something to talk about over coffee breaks at their boring jobs ;)
Oh man, If only The Netherlands could win instead... Such a magnificent song and performance. :') Great job Holland, my always underrated piece of cherry pie.
A gorgeous, chill song and, without question, one of the best photographed acts in the history of the contest. Would've definitely deserved to win, but then, so did Austria. 2014 was the contest that proved that anybody, even eternal outsiders the Netherlands and Austria, stood a chance at winning the contest.
I'm very proud Holland! Ilse en Waylon are high quality singers! Their performance on stage was unique, disarming and beautiful appearance! Great that it is rewarded with a second place in Eurovision! It Should have been NO 1! But satisfaction is in place. Best song ever since 1975!
I first heard this song on monday and fell in love immediately;not to mention that Ilse and waylon are huge artists :)Thank you Netherlands ! U made me happy , not only with the trance beauties of the last 20 years...but...Tonigt Also !Respect from Romania \0/
This won the heart of millions of viewers, and that's enough. Good luck to Ilse Delange and Waylon on their future projects and I hope that one day we could see them again on Eurovision, and thank you for this present called "Calm After The Storm".
Greetings from Ireland, I loved this song, heard it for the 1st time at the live final and thought it should have won. Did anyone notice the subtle wink he gave her at the end around 3:30? As if to say to her "we did it" - thought that was very cute!
We proved them wrong! Nederland laat na decennia zien dat we goede musici hebben om op een internationaal podium kunnen staan en mensen kunnen raken met goede muziek!
This is by far the best recovery in the bookmarkers I have ever seen! From nowehere to be seen to 5th place in a semi-final, to 2nd place in the contest after bringing Sweden down to 3rd, and also winning the first semi-final (something nobody thought could be possible with the Dutch song before the Eurovision week). This song is great
I love their entry that year, and I really thought they were not going to qualify. It was such a fantastic surprise! My favorite was Sweden, and my 2nd place was The Netherlands, but although they became 2nd in the final, I really think there were a lot of songs better than Conchita's
Thank you Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania for the 12 points, we are really glad you appreciated our entry and thankfull you wanted to vote for us :)
Eurovision needs more songs like this, with style, lyrics and great voice. Yes, the show was zero, but they didnt need it, since it was all about the song. It was so captivating, I listened to it three more times, forgot about other songs :D
Congrats, Dutch brothers for your beautiful song, that makes us sigh...instead of yell like others....You must be proud of the such pure, simple and magic talent.
I fell in love with this wonderfull song, it caught my heart! And what a great performance - reduced to the max. Even the stage was reduced to black and white.
The best performance of the night I cannot believe Netherlands didn't win. The facial expressions on the closeups are just amazing. There is so much emotion in this song and the people who were singing it made sure the audience felt it. Netherlands can be extremely proud of this performance.
Simple yet effective staging, you can really feel the connection between the two singers. The song is simple yet beautiful. I think this should have gotten the victory that year.
Song starts at 0:35 Driving in the fast lane Counting mile marker signs The empty seat beside me Keeps you on my mind Livin’ in the heartache Was never something I pursued I can’t keep on chasing What I can’t be for you Oooh skies are black and blue I’m thinking about you Here in the calm after the storm Tears on the highway Water in my eyes This rain ain’t gonna change us So what’s the use to cry? I could say I’m sorry But I don’t wanna lie I just wanna know if staying Is better than goodbye Oooh skies are black and blue I’m thinking about you Here in the calm after the storm Oooh after all that we’ve been through There ain’t nothing new Here in the calm after the storm Maybe I can find you Down this broken line Maybe you can find me I guess we’ll know in time Oooh skies are black and blue I’m thinking about you Here in the calm after the storm There ain’t nothing new Here in the calm after the storm
I'm so happy that the Netherlands for getting second! This song is so beautiful. In my opinion it's the best (Together with 'Rise like a Phoenix' from Conchita Wurst). I just want to say that I'm really proud of my country and I hope that they'll do this well next year!
for me one of the best songs of the last decade... no aggressions... harmony... its warm and its great performed. i dont know if i have to laugh or cry thx
A lot of people disliked it when they made public the song. But on Tuesday and on Saturday, a lot of people voted for them. Thanks to Ilse and Waylon, I still believe in the power of a performance in Eurovision :)
I love how I already felt the potential of the song early on before the semis (my 2nd placer after all the songs had been released), whilst others had it in the bottom half of their top37 until the semis and finals...tis because I just love how different the song is for Eurovision, much like a song that can be released (and be a hit) outside of Europe, like US and Canada...I really hope they release this song there...
Foei televoters !
This is the first time I've watched Eurovision, I know it's been on our sky t.v channel in New Zealand for a while, I just havn't bothered watching it until now.... When I heard this beautiful duo sing, I thought WOW!!! They're bloody good!!! Wish I had watched the beginning of this competition, it's fantastic! Down this end of the world, we're influenced in listening to alot of music from America and Britain, because that type of music is advertised and air played mostly. I'm going to have to go back from the beginning to get where I'm watching now. I know we're behind, because it was the "bearded man transvestite"? that won, is that right?
Eso es química, física, filosofía y matemáticas. La conexión entre ellos es tan grande que, una vez más, se demuestra que con una canción buena y teniendo un poco de arte y esa química mencionada, no hace falta circo ni fuegos artificiales. Bravo!
For all those people that said it was boring not for eurovision etc. This is what real music sounds like and I feel that more countries will do ''real'' music to the eurovision and these are the proof that you can win with that WENEN we are coming with ''real'' music and a fantastic eurovision
