I love the look of the aquas the best, the materials of the white with the premium leather and the liner of the bred is ultra 90s super dope. I wish Nike and Jordan brand would do more with their liners it’s definitely an underrated underutilized part of the shoe.
It Was Synthetic Leather That White/Red VIII Known As Bugs Bunny VIII And Aqua & Playoffs Uppers Made Of “Durabuck” Materials Which It Was Good Til They Stop It Around Early 2000s Which It They Made Of “Nubuck” Now In Days OGs Made From Taiwan Or Korea I Got All 3 Of Em In 93 As A 2 Year Old & Today
He started wearing the cardinal 7s for the 92/93 season, then turned over to the 8s. whites were regular season, black debuted for playoffs. aquas for asg.
The white were worn during the regular season both home and away. The black or 'playoffs' were worn during the playoffs both home and away. The Bulls switched to black shoes only during the playoffs. Whites were worn during the regular season only. This trend started in '88 or '89 I believe.
Nice video. I am pretty positive that MJ never wore the black and red pair during the regular season. He wore it during the playoffs and the finals only.
+BlazingBananaBoy lol; I said that because he says the black and red model was worn in away games during the regular season. By the way, the term playoffs is recent; back in 1993, we used to call them the black and red.
So So dope M.jo ! I've seen the aqua 8s sole swapped & just isn't a good look like you said ! hard to due . Did you cop the olive 13's & what due you think about them ? Thinking of copping $ 150 .
I don't care about shoes anymore, haven't since mid 90's era. For some reason I've been paying attention lately, just to what's been coming out and what not...you know boredem and the internet, and I can't believe I forgot these. I remember loving my larry johnson react shoes the most when I was a kid, and of course the Charles Barkley's, all black, and white/purplse. For some reason though I had this memory in my head of the bottom of a shoe being super popular, but I couldn't put my finger on what shoe it was. I was never big on jordans growing up, but finally when I saw this shoe everything just clicked in my brain. When I was growing up in the 90's, these 8's were sooooooo damn popular. It was the tongue of the shoe, and then the bottom material, oh and the side material too. What's weird is I remember not following jordan 1, 2, 3, 4, etc at that time...honestly I dont' know where my mind was at, but I vividly remember being obsessed with this shoe, they felt godly when wearing them. My favs of all time though were my Larry Johns's aqua black, but those and these aqua jordan's I felt like a god wearing. Lol I also remember having Grant Hills, and KJ's. This was the only Jordan shoe I had though...I wonder how popular this jordan was? Cause obviously right now no one cares about the 8's and it's all about the 1's, dunks, and the 11's. I don't remember ever seeing 1's back then, but I saw a lot of these OG 8's. I get why people obsess over shoes though, cause that feeling I had as a kid was nothing else, lacing up those brand new 120 dollar premium shoes. Almost better than sex, for real.
You are excellent at reviews, no clutter or personal comments good job. Will the Bugs Bunny white version be released under the Retro Remaster Initiative announced in 2015? Sometime in the next year or two?
Got the Hares back in 2003, i was 12 years old, thought they were ugly as hell but i love them so much now LoL! went and found a DS 2003 pair on ebay bought them for 180 SHIPPED. I guess the market for 8's in general are low.
I am so glad. my original 10s 11s 12s 13s 14s 16s 17s 18s are still wearable. over the years. and look brand new. just. by taking care of them and cleaning them
you said suede and nubuck, but the 8's have the same type of leather on the back heel as the front.. it's 1 material, not both, and it seems like a durabuck synthetic/nubuck. hard to tell when you cannot feel it.
+Winny Sneakers Yeah what I was trying to say (without getting too technical) is that there were differences in material. Durabuck for the OGs but synthetic and a different type of synthetic leather for the new pairs. They don't call it Durabuck anymore (see - sneakerhistory.com/2015/08/durabuck/) The 2015 pairs you don't see that cut of grain on the grey panels so it's leading me to believe that the entire section is synthetic. The back is definitely molded on as an overlay.
Right, just wanted to let you know, seemed like you were under the impression OG's had a different cut of leather. And I'm loving these videos man, you're the only one on youtube with this kinda content, and you do it extremely well.
All the coolest kids in High School used to have those back in the days. I used to dream about them, since I had the $hity Dr. Martins as parents were strict on wearing the proper school uniform . . . . . Memories . . . 😂😂
Are u gonna get the OG set for the 6s and 7s?? I'd love to to see a video in those if u can get ur hands on them especially the maroon and sport blue 6s and Olympic 7s
As the years go by it's harder and harder to attain in near perfect conditions. It hasn't been a goal of mine however to complete a 6 set. Perhaps a 7. Im 3 pairs away.
Can’t believe I used to play in these (aqua) and just got sick of them in 1993. Ended up throwing them out. For no real reason. They were still in good condition. I also had the original Reebok pumps. Also gone!
right because I still have my original 97 playoff 12s an my soles are heavily oxidated I guess from aging what kind of storage tips would you recommend? because I currently use Ziploc bags leaving them open.
+Derek Daniels I don't do ziplock bags because shoes could heat and moisture can be trapped causing the shoes to erode much faster. I keep my stuff in a climate controlled room and in the dark away from light. Remember heat, light and moisture are killers for your shoes so keep them away from those 3 things you'll be good. Oxidation on rubber is inevitable.
Chrome 8s were not part of the OG series. There were only the 3 color ways you see in the vid. The Chrome 8s were a first time colorway and retro from 2003. I used to own them but no longer do.
Oh ok I thought if the colorway was released for first time that was the original are you going to get Chrome 8s once they release again Im going to get them black and grey are my fav colors
Marv I Got The 1993 Black/Red (Playoffs) VIII Soleswapped Already Plus I Did The Restoration Yesterday I Used The 2013 Donors Now I’m Waiting On The Donors For The 1993 Aqua VIII So I Get It Out Of The Way Now Only I Need Is White/Red (Bugs Bunny) VIII From 1993
MJO23DAN Yes The Difference Is 2013 Has No Glitter Before I Had To Take Out Everything They Had Glitter On It Well As 1993 Aqua VIII I’m Using 2015 Donors Because 2015 Look Closer To The OG On The Glitter And Bottom Graphing Side By The Way It Wasn’t Hard On The Soleswapping As I Expected I Did Good To Me And I Gotta Thank Retro Sneakers To Taught Me That Way
Latios I figured out I have the latest aquas from 2015 because I looked on the size 😂💯 because I forgot they had the year they were made on the size thing after I did a long time of research that could have been avoided but thanks for trying to help.!😂💯
man, great video, but i got super dizzy watching it with all the camera moving left and right. i would suggest using the tripod and move the shoes into frame instead next time.
+FrankW1029 Apologies but you wouldn't be able to zoom in on the key differences had I just had the camera on a tripod. I felt it was important to free hand the camera instead of bringing the sneakers up to the lens. I couldn't do that with the OG. It was literally crumbling every time I handled it and as a collector that would be devastating.
MJO23DAN lol, my bad. thought i replied to the other vid. anyway, you probably don't have to zoom in as much tho. you take great HD videos that you can see the details pretty clearly in your regular videos. just a thought.
Stockx is Tha Right Site Ant it i Bought Sum Jordan 13s 3 months Ago & They Fake as Fake can get i just wanna Make Sure They ant Fake & They ant Gonna Steal My Money
Actually while the 7 was the first to no have any outward Nike Air branding...the 7,9,10 & 11 all had it on the insole...the 8s somehow got away without it
@@mjo23dan right I was just saying the fact it was missing from the 8 was just a weird coincidence not the end of the Nike Air branding all together...its funny how at the time nobody cared about what the insoles said n now everyone demands the NIKE AIR lol
@@mjo23dan u had stated he wore the black and red during some away games and in the playoffs. Mj used to debut the new shoe at allstar game and wear the white one during the remainder of the season til the playoffs and then break out the breds for the playoffs. He did that up until his 1st retirement. No big deal, I was just letting u know. Dig all ur videos tho. I watch em all. Keep up the great work and keep em coming.
honestly, wunna da coldest kickz ever, but like.... i'm just not a fan of the patterns they got on the side, looks kinda, i dunno, messy. and too colorful, u know? like if they had some sorta cleaner patter, or a solid color. OH! maybe like a gradient fade, in those areas, would be hella clean.
MJO23DAN yeah, i was getting that early 90's vibe too. i mean, i already knew they were from the 90's, but i was just saying i don't like that pattern, that's all. and anyways, they should kinda change up the jordans through the years, people like oldschool stuff, but try to modernize it a bit you know? and see the feedback.
MJO23DAN oh truuueee. i loved that pack. the black one still had an awkward pattern on the side, but the white and gold one was fresh. but yeah, the black one did look a bit more modern, with different fabrics and a spotted pattern. but yeah, they could still make these shoes look much more modern and cool. i'm a big fan of all these straps and belts on the shoe, the compact look, is really cool, like, people gonna take you seriously on the court with these kicks, nam sayin? haha, but yeah, anyway, thanks for the review, honestly, i'm crazy about the 8's, on the court at least, but yeah, keep making these videos, i'm obsessed.
The 8 and the Air Raid are basically cousins designed by Tinker Hatfield. It was supposed to compete with Reebok’s Blacktop shoe which is a straight up 90s outdoor basketball shoe. It’s appropriate for its time.
