Out of all the guides, yours is definitely the best, because of the cute carno drawing haha. I think the biggest change to breeding I’m grateful for is that movement speed is no longer a stat that can be leveled. The stat distribution is much higher now on newly tamed Dino’s, and it also improves chance of getting a favorable mutation slightly.

Excellent video and confirmed I was breeding correctly. I will say that for me, using PureRef to take snips of the stats (after naming them something like F228-M1-Melee or something similar) makes it quick and easy to generate a family tree essentially to track mutation lines. You can also add notes to the images so I highly recommend it in addition what's listed here.

Excellent video, will share to anyone I see asking about ASA breeding. I would like to add one simple helpful tip to make keeping track of stats easier - simply name your breeders after their stats, or at least their key ones. That way you can simply check a baby's ancestry, or look over at the father, and see what stats have changed when you get a mutation. Also makes it easier to tell if a new tame has a higher base stat than what you currently have - you can use the new tame tracker to show you the names of all your creatures; just include base stat or wild tame or something for non-mutated creatures.

Something that I don't think was covered in this great video, and when explaining mutations I find it's the MOST confusing part to people, is how the paternal/maternal mutation numbers work (the x/20 numbers in the ancestry page of the Dinos stats). A lot of people think that the baby inherits the sum of the maternal values of its parents as the maternal value, and the sum of the paternal values of its parents as the maternal value, and this is where a lot of the confusion comes in: The baby gains the sum of the FATHER's maternal + paternal mutation values as the baby's PATERNAL values, and the sum of the MOTHER's maternal + paternal mutation values as the baby's MATERNAL values. This is how you are able to force mutations to keep occurring indefinitely, because we keep the mutations ONLY on the male breeder, meaning the baby only inherits paternal mutation values (and maybe one maternal value if it happens to be a mutated baby). You will only ever see 0 or 1 for the maternal value in the ancestry if you keep clean females, and the paternal values will continue to increase, and even increase beyond 20 (after the paternal stacks reach 20+, the male breeder will ALWAYS have 1 in the maternal mutation stack, because mutations will only come from the mothers, this is the 4% break point that Tiia was talking about). Quick example: The father has 7 paternal and 2 maternal mutations, the mother has 5 paternal and 1 maternal mutation. The baby's inherited mutation values (regardless of if it inherits whatever parent's stats) will be 9 paternal (7 + 2) and 6 maternal (5 + 1), with maybe 1 more stack if it got a NEW mutation. Again, no matter what stats the baby inherits, it will ALWAYS be 9/6. If, say, that baby was a male, and you use that baby to breed a new baby, that new baby's paternal mutation value will be 15, if you used the same mother from before, it will be 15/6, and if you use THAT (male again, just for simplicity) baby to breed a new baby, it will inherit 21 paternal stacks, and it CANNOT produce a mutated offspring (though the mother still can, the mutation will not ever come from the paternal line at this point). So even though it was only a few generations down the line (certainly not 20), it has reached the cap because of how mutation values work. This is why it's important to use clean females so the male breeder never inherits "extra" mutation values causing you to reach the cap earlier than necessary.

Thank you for all of your hard work! I have a question. I work on the base pair and while waiting for the fem. of a certain level, I have a male egg with a mutation in melee, but it is on the maternal site. Is it important if a mutation is on the maternal site though the egg is for the male dino? In other words, should I discard this egg, or keep it since mutations are now transferable? I did breeding in Ark evolved and the mutation staking is a bit confusing to me.

I used to have no clue how breeding worked until I watched a video that was almost 2 hours long. It was a long video but it did what you’re asking for. It showed how to do it in game. It was from ark survival evolved but it works the same way. In a nutshell…always get the mutations on the male. make a bunch of identical females and 1 male that is identical to those females. Breed until you get a mutation you want. Then STOP BREEDING! Raise that baby and stop using your original male. If your baby is a male it is your new breeder with the females. If it’s a female you must raise it and breed it with the original male until you create a male. Rinse and repeat.
@BlakeC552
@BlakeC552 6 месяцев назад
Pretty simple. Knock a high level creature. Check it’s stats in Dododex. Find one with high stats in the stats you need. Tame a male and a female. Breed them and keep females until you get enough to breed a lot. Then watch for mutations on a stat that you want to be higher.

Im still confused so i tamed a level 100 male Andrewsarchus and a female on that is level 125. So i breed them together to get a 128 base level to start breeding for Mutation so my next one would be a 130 right i got it it was male. I switched them but know i see on all the baby that are being breeded i see the mutation stat so now my 132 are 2 points in to health as well as 2 points in to melee. Im confused do i need to worry about the stats on health that was the 130 i got. Would in need to wait for a 134 to get another stat in health or would it be a 132 ive never really breed before on ase im still lost im on Xbox

Tiia, are the chances of stacking for one specific stat higher with one mutated+clean or mutated+mutated. Ex: Mutated of 2 in melee + clean or both mutated of both parents (dad) 2 melee + (mom) 2 melee. Or does this make a difference in the percentage rate for stacking?
@TiiaAurora

It only takes the total number like I showed in the base point - mutationstack calculation and then puts the mutation calculation on top. So 55% chance to get the high base + high mutationstack and then 7% in the end to get a mutation

hi, so i need to stack like 20 mutations in HP; later i need to stack (with original perfect parent) 20 mutations in damage. After this, i need to combine the dino with 20 mutations in HP and the dino with 20 mutations in damage, in order to have a dino with 40 total mutations (20 in HP and 20 in damage), right? And is uncorrect if i stack 2 type of mutations in a single dino, like damage and HP in a dino (so 10 mutation in HP and 10 in damage), and another dino with other 2 stack mutations in weight and stamina (so 10 in stamina and 10 in weight). Later combine the 2 dino with the 2 stacks. This is wrong? It's better the first option? Thanks in advance 🙂
@dreadcthulhu6842
@dreadcthulhu6842 7 месяцев назад
The first option works better; you only have to worry about one stat at a time getting mutations and being passed on, which makes things faster & easier to keep track of. Also it means you get the "easy" first 20 mutations for each stat on its own; do note that you can go way past 20 mutations in a stat (the actual limit is 127), its just after the father has 20 mutations on the counter he can no longer trigger a new mutation, only the females can.

So i have two questions one , i have a tuso with a single mutation point in the ancestery father line but , 0 mutations in the stats (im using tek binocs) what happened there is it a movement speed mutation? Second question in your earlier math you say all tames have a minimum level of 1 but i have seen babies with a level of 0 stat points in a stat does that change anything ?

Using the formula you provided at 7:05 Odds of a mutation on either of health/melee and retain both health/melee muts: .0731/6*2*.55^2 = .74% Odds of a mutation on specifically melee and retain just melee mut: .0731/6*1*.55^1 = .67% As you can see, it is better to do 2 stats combined rather than separate. The extra benefit is it requires moving the male in half as often. The extra downside though is that when you reach the maximum number of females you can fit to 1 male and want to expand, you will need another male for another batch of females. So whenever you get a new male you will need to wait another breeding period until you can replace the second male in the other room with the other half of the females. With running the lines separate, you can just have 1 room for health and the other room for melee, saving 1 breeding period per mutation increase. However, repeating this comparison for doing 3 stats combined vs separate: Odds of a mutation on either of health/melee/weight and retain all health/melee/weight: .0731/6*3*.55^3 = .608% Odds of a mutation on specifically melee and retain just melee mut: still .67% If the odds were 50/50 instead of 55/45, then the first two %'s displayed would match, the reasoning is because 2*2 is the same as 2^2. However, 2*3 isnt the same as 2^3, this is why breeding 3 lines combined is less effective, but breeding 2 lines combined is more effective.

Great vid tiia :) just a question i want to clarify, at 11:36 you mention the stat cap, saying we can acheive 254 muta, and also have a base stat that can be any number? is the base value capped to 60 like you showed in your example? or does this mean we get 254 mutations, and then keep taming in search of a higher base stat? or is 60 the base cap, and 254 muta cap?
@TiiaAurora
@TiiaAurora 6 месяцев назад
technically you can have 255 stat and 254 mutation. But since other than raising your difficulty - there is no way to raise the base stat so I took 60 as a high-realisic stat you can get on a 150 server.

one thing i noticed is when you have a higher damage, lvling the damage when the dino lvls the higher it goes up. does this work with every stat? does lvling more in oxygen make more lvl in damage go up too? or is there no point in finding high dinos besides hjealth and damage?
@TiiaAurora
@TiiaAurora 3 месяца назад
The levels you level manually don't affect any other stat. As for the different stats, they depend what you use the dino for. Daeodons for example should have high Health and Food. Farming animals Weight and Damage. If you are on unofficial you can of course also go the way of maxing every stat.
@TonyStanley-xr5tf
@TonyStanley-xr5tf Месяц назад
This is the first video I found that explained the wild mutation points. As far as setting up breeding, I went out and tamed the lowest level Rex I could find both male and female. I made sure the taming effectiveness was under 43% so that they gained no levels. Then reverse bred them until I got a level 1 female. Then I clone about 20-30 of them and mate them to the male with the stat I need until I clean off all the unwanted stats. So say for Rex I only want health and melee, so I keep a male that pops with only the Health Stat, and a separate one that pops with only the melee stat. Then I set up both males to breed with separate groups of level 1 females. This increases the chances of only getting the stat mutation that I need on both lines. It also makes it easier to see all mutations when the mother is all zeros on stats and mutations. In just one day I have moved my Rex line up in health by 4 mutations while keeping all other stats clean. It also keeps the max level down on the dino allowing for more points to be added as it levels up. My starter Rex was a level 225 when I lotto picked it from the F1 shop. I have been able to increase the stats I need and lowered the dino to a level 46
@TiiaAurora
@TiiaAurora Месяц назад
Unless you play on official it doesnt really matter if you have the same levels on all females or if they are high or low. The chances will stay the same either way. Level 1's are just cheaper to clone. So when you're low on shards it makes sense. Other than that its just preference.

Ok, I understand most everything about the breeding process, but have one question. How is it more efficient to have separate "breeder males"- one for each stat? So mega tribes only breed for one stat at a time? What if Im currently breeding for HP and I get a melee mutation? Just throw it away? Seems like going one stat at a time is MAJORLY inefficient as far as time goes. Or am I not getting it right? So confused on the end game breeding

So most of my tames (Rexes in this case) are leveled, and the calculator can determine their proper values. Should I get a brand-new group of Rexes? or breed with my current group and when they breed start writing down their offsprings states going foward?

Does dino level effect the mutation rate? Am I better mutating low level to stack mutations and then transferring to a high base stat later, or just stacking on the high base stat to start with?! Great guide, bravo!

Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe it is more efficient to breed for mutations in two stats simultaneously as long as you do not care how the total number of mutations is distributed between the two stats. In other words, say breed for health and melee together as long as you do not care how the mutations are distributed between health and melee. Say the probability of a mutation is P_mutation equally distributed between N stats when hatching an egg. When focusing on: - one stat only the probability of a favorable muation is P_one = 0.55 * P / N. - two stats simultaneously the probability of a favorable mutation is P_two = 0.55^2 * 2 * P/N = 1.1 * P_one - three stats simultaneously the probability of a favorable mutation is P_tree = 0.55^3 * 3 * P/N = 0.9075 * P_one - four stats simultaneously the probability of a favorable mutation is P_four = 0.55^4 * 4 * P/N = 0.6655 * P_one So if the above calculations are correct, when mutating two stats simultaneously the chance of a favorable mutation is 10% more than when doing a single stat mutation line. It may not seem like much but if you shoot for 40 mutations overall it will take you 1.1 ^ 40 = 45.3 times longer if you do one stat at a time then if you were doing two simultaneously.

Yea your math is def off. There are a few things you didn't take into consideration. While 2 stats on one animal is in fact a little faster than one. (it's around 0.74) half of the time you will get the mutation combination on a female. Transferring both stats over on a male takes about twice as long as just transferring one stat. So in the end you'll end up with it taking longer. As soon as you implement even more stats, its significantly slower than only one stat. The loops you have to jump to always keep those two stats together is not really worth it.

So if I was mutating a level 450 rex and it got to 490 with 20 melee mutations I wouldn’t be able to pass that mutation stack on to let’s say a 300 level Rex because it’s base stat melee is lower than the original 450 level rex I started with?

Great explanation! I just have few questions. 1. If my first mutation is on a female, do I get rid of that female? For example hp 5/2/0 on that first female baby, do I keep for future stacking on maternal side? Or should I keep mutated males only and keep replacing dad with new mutated males? 2. If I hatch a non mutated female, can I use that hatched female for the breeding process or do all the moms need to be wild tamed? Thanks in advance!
@TiiaAurora
@TiiaAurora 6 месяцев назад
1. If you get a mutated females you mate her with an unmutated male to get a mutated male out of that pairing. That male will be your breeding male. 2. As long as both parents are unmutated you can use females as breeder females as the game doesnt differentiate between tamed females and bred females when no mutation is present

So for mutation stacking we should intentionally keep and combine lower stat for clean females; and have higher stat male because then high mutation stack will always be carried with higher stat(from male)?
@TiiaAurora

Keeping them the same stats is easier
@n1kmz
@n1kmz 6 месяцев назад
So on official PvP servers for example, they've tamed lots and lots of females (of any level), to get a head start with breeding, and they check for mutation points on the babies with a tek binocs. But ideally, you want same level & stats on your breeders setup, because as in ASE, just looking at the newest baby level, you could tell if it has a new mutation, then check what it is, and decide what to do next with it. In the end that will save you a lot of time, checking for new mutations.

I've been running a lot of numbers on the most efficient way to push mutations as quick as possible for single stat lines, double stat lines, and 3+ stat lines and all my calculations tell me that the only advantage to keeping your first 20 mutations on the same stat is if you only plan on seriously pushing a single stat. I'm getting it slightly more efficient to push for 2 priority stats within your first 20 mutations, and dramatically more efficient if you're trying to push for 3+. I'd love to get an opportunity to chat with you on the statistics side of thing if you're interested. Hoping there's not something that I'm completely overlooking.
