35:39 what if Marika and Radagon were originally two separate beings. Radagon could have been the lord she was going to come back to after her ascension to godhood, but instead she merged with him to be both a lord and god. The seduction: Marika having a life with Radagon and giving birth to Messmer and Melina. The betrayal: Marika merging with Radagon and becoming one.
Important thing to remember is that "Radagon is Marika", but they have separated wills and might have acted with separated objectives. We are told this at the very start of the game, when we see Marika shattering the Elden Ring, but Radagon trying to repair it.
Its a possession thing almost guaranteed, as an explanation on that. GW possessing marika = radagon essentially. With how she says hes yet to become her, and how her eyes and radagons eyes are an increasingly burned scarseal, with eventually radagons seal of impenetrable thorns completely burning her soul/eyes away. It completely lines up with shabriri, the jewish demon of blindness, being the complete explanation of elden rings possession mechanic for eldritch beings.
@@zachariahsmith9130 he literally used to be, it took him half the dlc to seal st trina away, and he left his entire body behind to travel to the lands between, then plucked out his eye and great rune. Being possessed by a dream walker in dreams is still being possessed.
Thank you for shouting out other amazing lore channels too, as this video is sure to bring fresh eyes to the lore side of Elden Ring and other FromSoft games!
I think Marika was actually put in a jar by the horsent but became the saint they had been hoping for from the ritual, that’s how she became trusted and revered by them. That conglomeration of other bodies could also explain how Radagon came to be, and how marika is technically cursed by gaining power through such a terrible ritual that caused all of her children to be cursed
Exactly. It was also said that Radagon was ashamed of his red hair, which may link him to the Fire Giants. It could be that Radagon was put into a jar with Marika and the two of them fusing together created the "Saint" that the Hornsent were hoping for. It makes sense.
@@jvracingvids6529 It wasn't just simply torture. It functioned as a religious practice as well. The jarring process and what it was supposed to create is similar to what the Divine Tower of Belurat was, a means to achieve godhood. The divine gate is likely the greatest success of the hornsent.
1:08:50 Despite their horns, omens are probably a curse even among hornsent. If you attack Grandam Hornsent, she will speak of the curse of Omen cast upon Marika's children. The Grandam specifically says "curse of Omen"
1:06:57 The reason Godfrey was ousted is pretty clear and stated by Marika's words, passed on to us via Melina. Godfrey and his army were removed of grace and sent away, so they could "grow strong in the face of deat h", then come back stronger to the lands between after that, receiving back their grace and brandishing the Elden Ring.
Cool stuff man. Thanks for this. I just beat the base game after about 213 hours and I like to see explanation videos like this. I went with !!! SPOILERS AHEAD !!! Ranni's ending.
Also, the crisscross pattern behind the statues of radagon are a part of the elden ring, looking at the cover art the same crisscross is there. I think that radagon lived inside marika until she was able to get the elden ring and then she used a part of it to grant radagon a body by proxy.
I'm confused as to why Marika created the Erdtree when there was the Great Tree, presumably created by the GW and containing the elden beast, during the time of the crucible. Additionally, why or how did the 'greater will' bar us from entering the Erdtree if the GW has been silent since Metyr showed up. Did Metyr seal the Erdtree on behalf of the greater will?
outer gods are OUTER higher multiple planes of existence gods much like lovecrafts. i do not think The moon and fell god are outer gods. I do believe other outer gods are on the same footing as the greater will. the fact that they chose " outer " god for these entities says everything we need to know about these eldritch cosmic nightmares
at surface level it seems cruel about the shamans being put in the jars but I think it holds major significance in that it’s a parallel to something being preserved…like the Shamans and their knowledge in some way NEEDED to be preserved. Just a thought
I think that when marika stepped through the gates she already knew and seduced radagon. Maybe by enticing him with power or even love. But just as how miquellas lord requires a vessel so too did radagon so marika took it upon herself to become his vessel. Miquella could have done this for radahn as well if he hadnt been shedding his own body of the golden impurities
Marika finding a seed of the Erdtree and thats how she became a God, that is like of some anime/manga plot kinda I can think of at least 5 anime which some I forgot the title and some are summer time rendering(which is the similarity is uncanny if that what it is)
Ranni is an empyeren because her father is radagon (who is also the god marika as she is radagons vessel) miquell and melenia killed their shadows and there isnt alot of info for the Gloam eyed queen
the fingerslayer blade, Metyr, and the elden ring I personally think all connect to Marika conspiring with the Nox to take the elden ring from Metyr to become a god. the original sin was stealing the elden ring, attacking Metyr was also what invoked the ire of the greater will against the Nox. the three fingers i think are the result of Metyr's own anguish in realizing the Greater Will abandoned her. the three fingers is an incarnation of the madness she has been reduced to.
Was extremely disappointed to hear Miyazaki say that there really is no set base story. They have a general outline and then a bunch of stuff sprinkled in as filler and to make the gameplay work. All these years of theories and looking for environmental storytelling and they don't even have a set story for us to decipher. We have to "make it up for ourselves" and " that's the beauty of it" which I think is fcking insane. I'm just extremely disappointed and to find out the story behind ER is not a set thing someone has written down somewhere is upsetting to me.
Actually Miyazaki said he has the whole story and what actually happened in his head for all his games but leaves out a lot so you can come up with your own story. That’s why I think it would be so awesome if one day he came out w a book sharing what actually happened in his stories. I’d pay anything.
Let me save your time, the story and the lore are gibberish nonsense, Elden Ring open world and gameplay is top notch. I have 800 hours and can tell you everything where is what, but story? Fromsoft doesn't make stories.
There is nearly no story because we are playing in an aftermath of what happened thousands of years ago. The lore however, is very far from what you claim. It may seem like that if you lack proper understanding.
There isn't any reason to have a conversation with someone dense and I do not care enough to drag this topic just to prove you how incorrect and wrong you are. You are missing out, not me.
lol. let me save your time and dont take this lonewolf dude serious. check his youtube profil and you will see that he thinks he is an alpha wolf and that he knows everything. how pathetic is that? only topped by his profile picture. he will probably write thats just gibberish nonsense. I'd like to duel him mentally, but I see he's unarmed.
