For the Davinci Resolve users, the timecode workflow is even easier. Resolve can covert audio timecode into timecode natively without even using the Tentacle Sync Studio. 1 less step in post. Let me know if you need a quick tutorial on that as well.
Whilst Zoom H3-vr is definitely wonderful I went with a pair of in ear headphones which have microphones embedded on the outside to get my spatial audio, but that's because I'm on a tiny budget Quite literally I am buying my kit by saving money out of my food budget. I am saving to buy an insta 1 inch by not eating for 2 weeks at a time.
Hi Hugh, thank you as always for a great video. I am just interested in spatial audio but wanted to confirm the correct equipment: Zoom H3, Zoom BTA-1 Bluetooth Adapter, Insta360 CYNOVA Audio Mic Adaptor, AtomX Ultrasync Blue. I don’t need the Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator, or do I as a time code generator?
OMG I was just looking for this fix! Thank you! My 360 one inch is in the mail. I'm going to use it as the front camera for a multi camera set up to film my band. When I've tried to do this with my one x2 it always skins like garbage. This is perfect!
We're always using external mics too, but it's nice when the on-board audio is at least tolerable as a back-up option. Does this problem only happen with the attachment piece, or does the onboard mic do it too? I noticed the on board mic doesn't sound very great, but haven't had much time to test it.
Yes, all Insta360 camera just capture 16kHz audio - it is the camera processor. The onboard Mic is actually not bad even in 16kHz (sound like a low cut + high cut filter on it). So it is a good scratch audio backup. But I won't use it especially for what you guys do in the pro level.
Hi Hugh what’s your opinion on the insta mic with the X3 as it’s also Bluetooth and also 32bit sound and it’s water proof incase I go for a swim and what’s your opinion on the new Apple AirPods Pro 2 gen for the Insta360 x3 thx.
Hugh I love your channel. I bought all the gear shown in the video. One question: How do I get my UltraSync Blue and Tentacyle Sync to run at the same timecode?
@@jeffhandley5223 it's possible to do with an UltraSync One to receive LTC from a Tentacle over cable, chase that timecode and transmit to an UltraSync BLUE over long range RF.
You need to change the mode you on your UltraSync blue to “free run” then set your frame rate, and then input the time code from the Tentacle app to sync the two devices. It’s all described on the timecode systems website.
Such a great video as always Hugh! Is the One inch RS 360 camera what you have been teasing for so long? :P Also, can you connect your Rode Go to the H3VR and combine the audio that way?
Yes, I tested the RS 1" for a long time for real client projects. My company bought 3 of them and crash 1 already lol. Drop from drone. But just to show how heavy we use that camera. H3VR which is zoom, it only work with Timecode system which is owned by Atomos. So you have to clap sync Rode Go with Zoom and hope for the best :) No timecode.
I was just thinking I need to get a good mic for the new 1 inch and posted an hour before I see this! Thanks so much! The very best person to show me the way! I’ve purchased the zoom F2 but have one question… do I need to buy the mic attachment still? Or can I simply place the mic somewhere close/ on myself and link it in davinci resolve? Or is it best to plug it into the camera for accuracy? Bit confused thanks
Hugh, Hi, Great video, so I am trying to up my game with capturing audio outside of my Insta360 One rs 1" 360 and the Zoom H1N and have a question for you. Using the Zoom H1N, what settings would you recommend to record as? Wav or Mp3, what sample rate & bit depth settings... Thank you so much for helping.
7:20, are you sure the studio supports full 360 video files? I am on windows and I have to use the tentacle timecode tool and it does not support .invs files **edit.. oh you exported the 360 files first to mp4.. that is frustrating that you cannot go direct from invs files into adobe premiere where you can use the reframe plugin.
@@hughhou thank you! And what would you suggest is the best microphone to use with the insta360 1-Inch 360 Edition for recording music/audio from a loud festival (EDC)
Thank you Hugh for the great tutorials. let me ask you a collateral question. What is the use/advantage of stacking the insta 360 one inch on top of theTitan? I can not figure out a clear answer
@@captteemo9133 Yes the audio has been definitely been improved in the latest firmware update. Doesn't sound like 16kHz anymore. It still sounds mono and there's a little undefeatable noise reduction processing (like a webcam mic) but it's much better than before and is useable with external mics now.
hi! i have a rs1 and a h2n zoom, is there a way to add the spatial audio file recorded with the h2n into the 360 video ? of course it will require a manual time sync but that should be too hard ... can final cut do that ? any tips and tricks would be much appreciated , thanks!
I bought the insta 360 one inch , I record externally from my DJI mic externally on the storage of this one. We can record mono or stereo with better quality of this camera hope a new firmware for that. About the audio for me the best ever it's my other 360 camera the gopro fusion
One would think these camera makers would build in time of day metadata on their cameras as a sales strategy... People are more likely to buy more of a camera with this basic feature for other camera angles.
Using Davinci Resolve 18, Tentacle Sync E, Insta360, and Zoom H3-VR and wanting timecode shared between everything. What I can find so far is that Zoom H3-VR only accepts Timecode Systems / Atomos via Bluetooth using Ultra Sync Blue. Is there a way to Jam Sync Timecode to the Ultra Sync Blue? At least with that option, I could know my Tentacle Sync and Ultra Sync Blue will be in sync with each other. That would greatly improve my workflow. Do you know of a way to do this?
@@ShrekSwag I have reached out to Timecode Systems and their answer was vague at best. The one piece of information I need is if my Zoom F6 can jam sync the UltraSync Blue instead of the UltraSync Blue jam syncing my Zoom F6. If it can do that, then I can get everyone to play with each other. Otherwise, it is a dead end.
