Actually, The Dark Lord is still technically Lucifer, not God. Hugo Martin, the creative director of 2016 and Eternal, confirmed this in his Urdak + Final Sin livestream after the ancient gods part 2 dropped. The Dark Lord is what's called a Primeval, and apparently, the only thing that can kill a Primeval, is either another Primeval, or something even GREATER than a Primeval. Hell, Hugo deadass drops the line: "Who creates Primevals?" So in a way, these Primevals sound like they could be the actual angels of the DOOM universe. But it does make you wonder though...could Doomguy secretly be a Primeval as well in some way?

I honestly think Asura is the leader considering the Dark Lord didn't seem to have any of his original power before being betrayed while Asura killed his version of God who was at full power but that's just me. Great video really liked the studio bits and I never knew about the DLC content so that was a nice surprise

There is one thing I need to point out. The earth from Classic Doom and Earth from Doom 2016 are two different Earths. Keep in mind that Doomguy ends up in another dimension after the events of Doom 64. (when he ends up in Argent D'Nur) While in our perspective (in Doom 2016) it does seem like UAC are experimenting with Hell once again, in reality, it's the first time they are messing with Hell. Maykr does undergo a physical and mental degradation called transfiguration. That wasn't an issue to Maykr race as long as Father was with them. It became an issue when Father has left Urdak. With Father gone, Maykr's didn't have any other option but to use the Sentinels race and make the deal with Hell to get the Argent Energy. As to why Father was gone, well Father sensed the danger and ordered his most loyal servant Samur Maykr (the seraphim) to take his life sphere to Ingmore Sanctum for safety which in hindsight, it was a terrible idea.

A fun fact about the original Doom is that ID Software came up with the idea from a DnD game. The party accidentally opened a gate/portal to Hell and the party was eventually killed. Another fun fact is that the Cacodemon in Doom 1 and 2 got its appearance from the Astral Dreadnought in DnD

I think the reason the second doom movie got made was because studio executives looked at doom (2016) and thought “dis make money, if I make movie out of dis then I also make money.” It also doesn’t help that there’s not really a lot of respect for mediums that aren’t live action in Hollywood, which is why the first doom movie was basically bad fanfiction (24th chromosome everyone) and the second looked like a bad fan film (the studio likely didn’t have a lot faith in it which may be why it was direct to video.).

Just a few things to correct about the Dark Lord and the ending of TAG P2: The Maykr's were able to strip away the Dark Lord of his power over creation , not his Primeval powers. According to Hugo Martin , the game director of DOOM 2016 and Eternal , a Primeval is more of a protector of a realm then a creator , so how he even got a hold of power to create and have a grasp over his creations is currently unknown , but it is likely that he either stole it or was given that power and thus it wasn't technically a part of him. Had they been able to take away the Dark Lord's Primeval powers , Vega , the Father , would have been able to kill Davoth , but he couldn't and instead he just kept him as a sphere on Ingmore's Sanctum. The Dark Lord created a shard containing his power directly from his soul sphere as that was all he could do directly to the material realm. Vega couldn't get rid of said shard , so he hid it away in Urdak , but was later found and used by the Khan Maykr under the influence of the Dark Lord , and later gave the power to the Slayer. The Dark Lord is the creator of the DOOM multiverse , which consists of infinite dimensions , with Urdak existing outside the time and space continuum , and Hell existing outside laws of reality , which technically makes Hell more of an outerverse then a dimension now that I think about it. Even with that in mind , the Dark Lord is not the creator of everything , he is said to be the first being , but not that he was the god of all creation. However , as the lore doesn't have much further info , we can only speculate and wait for Hugo to say something. At first the theory for the ending was that the Slayer absorbed the soul of the Dark Lord , but as he was a human given Primeval powers , he could absorb it but not without pain , and thus collapsed , which is a better insight on what happened then what Hugo Martin said if you ask me. However the ending , according to Hugo Martin in an interview with Midnight , is supposed to say that the Slayer has no purpose. He became even stronger after killing the Dark Lord so the theory wasn't completely wrong , he possibly even became a full Primeval , but as the demons can't exit Hell , the corruption is completely wiped out , and the Maykr's are rotting into lovecraftian monsters and can't really attack Earth , there isn't a reason for the Slayer to exist. He doesn't have a purpose at that moment , so he collapses , and the Seraph Maykrs locked him into the sarcophagus until he's needed again , if ever.

Ya know, there’s actually a very easy way doom 3 could slot into canon. Recall that the slayer is from the original doom 1 and 2 where Mars and Earth were attacked, despite the fact that 2016 and eternal act like these are the first invasions, this is because doomguy’s earth is simply a different universe from the one where 2016 takes place, and we know hell has made a habit of absorbing dimensions. Doom 3 could just be another universe hell attacked, the doom 3 marine just being a strong human, as we know doom 3’s expansions follow a different marine from the one in the base campaign. This would also explain the mural of Doomguy in the Martian ruins as the doom slayer was ravaging hell for eons, and the Martians may have heard about him when they used the soul cube to defeat the demons

Personally I would think doomslayer is done because he killed God there's nothing else left lol. Unless hes gonna pull a Kratos from God of War and kill a bunch of other gods but to my knowledge, other gods have not been mentioned so I don't know. I will say that Doom slayer is worthy, especially since he gives no fucks literally and overall this was a nicely done redo on the lore! Good job Donte and yeah the evil organization STILL sucks.
