What an achievement this video is. You really have outdone yourself once again! Göring is an incredibly interesting character, and your video shows that he can't be so easily judged one way or another. History is not black and white. I love how you bring out all the nuances. Göring's performance in Nuremberg is outstanding and it's incredible that 77 years later it's all here on RU-vid, albeit in German of course.

I'm 3/4 done. This video is truly eye opening and perhaps my favorite history video on RU-vid. The part about how the German leadership thought England would play a noble game, was enlightening. It seemed the Germans did not realize the allies would throw everything at them to beat them. Unfortunately, it seems it cost the west (including the allies) everything.

As someone who merely experimented with a clip here and there on windows movie maker, a four hour documentary is hugely impressive. I can only imagine the amount of effort that went into it. Thanks for the content and congrats on the feat. Honestly, watching Zoomer Historian compares to other history RU-vidrs like a fine restaurant compares to entering a fast food locale. Those serve warmed-up, low-quality slop while being rude to their "customers", zoomie not only takes suggestions for his establishment, but simply serves up. The well-structured and information-dense segments are courses of a nutritious meal, the vast array of historical photographs and the calm, collected narration the condiment that make them quite palatable. That frank approach to history, addressing popular perceptions of figures and events without resorting to pop-history, presenting primary sources and works of history without succumbing to extravagance, lend this channel a salt-of-the-earth charm. Thusly, our good historian seems blessed with a sort of unspent drive and educative purpose that ennoble his every endeavour. This channel is a gem of the sort that makes you want to let ads run just to help it grow. RU-vid is a better place with Zoomer Historian, every upload is a treat. Shoutout to ZH! Keep cooking, champ, while the jealous seethe.

Also, not really flattering or attacking. Just the facts - not that I’ve been and checked, but I imagine much of it can be, even without recourse to Irving books (which I don’t have). I’m not convinced he was treated 100% fairly. The idea that the Germans loved us is hard to believe, but then, we were good at empires. I had heard about very decent treatment of some officers. Douglas Bader’s legs were taken away at night after much apology even though he’d escaped three times.

Funny isn't it, after the war and still today Austrians claim they were 'invaded' by Germany against their will, yet at the time the majority of the population wanted to join Germany, not a shot was fired by the Austrian army, in every village and town enthusiastic crowds lined the streets, throwing flowers at the German soldiers, cheering and giving the NSDAP salute, and Austrian soldiers actually crossed over into Bavaria at the same time to show solidarity! Not much of an 'invasion' was it. It's nice that these videos give the correct versions of events in those times, just the facts, unaltered or suppressed to suit any agenda, no favouritism to any side before or during the war, and so often the motivations for events were not quite what we are usually told. No spin! I try to do the same thing in my own videos. Keep up the good work.

The reason Austria welcomed the Anschluss is because they thought the Germans would save them from poverty and and high unemployment. The Austrians like the Germans thought the treaty of Versailles was an unfair punishment, and one of the stipulations was that Germany and Austria never unite. The treaty also led to the end of the Austrian monarchy. As Hitler and Goering paraded through the Alpine streets of little towns and villages in Tirol and had flowers flown and swastikas waved the people thought they would be saved. There was a resistance, but the least of any of the annexed countries. Austria, North Italy (Sud-Tirol), Bavaria and Switzerland had a shared geopolitical history before the unification of Germany and because of this many felt a loyalty to Germany, whilst a silent minority felt loyalty to the sovereignty and independence of Austria and their exiled King. Across the Alps they had shared cultural history Germany, North Italy, Austria and Switzerland very similar music, dance, cuisines, fashion and language which was various dialects of High German (Hochdeutsch), Boarisch (Bavarian) was spoken in Switzerland, Austria, North Italy and Southern Germany, Ladin (was spoke in German areas of North Italy going all the way to the Dolomites and in Southern Austria), as well as Swiss German (Schweizerdeutsch) and Austrian (Österreichisch). Some neighbouring valleys have completely different dialects to this day. Mussolini put an ended to the Germanic heritage in North Italy and gave every town and village name a new Italian name and made the inhabitants speak Italian. I went on an 8 hour bus tour through Austria, and we visited one of the few concentrations in the country. The majority of Nazi gold as at the bottom of Alpine lakes, one known site for gold we visited Lake Toplitz, which divers are banned from. We also visited some salt mines which the Nazi's used to stored stolen art work.

Only 9.199 Wiews? This video should have more, not only for the Historical content (4 hours and 22 minutes of one of the most pivotal characters in the history of Nazi Germany), but also because of the dedication. I have seen a lot of historical videos, and yet none were "similar" to this. Historians tend to explain history with a passion (a trait I personally like), but they also tend to "explain" too much. As an history fan (especially the Nazi, Fascist and communist period in Europe), I always feel the "lecture" part in most historical channels. You explain fast, not tending to "overexplain" details and making the video flow with a natural way. I really hope that this channel can really go up on the top with all of the other History channels.

All of history is that way, we should not let the Germans be villified and the rest of the actors be glorified. General Patton in his diaries and journals openly said that America fought the wrong enemies. He never made it out of Germany. We were sold a hock of crap from the Nuremberg Court, and ever since then history has become incredibly one-sided, to the point that we cannot openly talk about it without being called an anti-semite or racist. It is high time the truth comes out.
@DM-kl4em

The terrifying thing is how charming so many of these Nazi officers actually were. They not only did such horrible, unspeakable things, but they persuaded an entire country to go along with it. It was not because the German people were stupid. Iet was because these Nazi leaders were so intelligent and charismatic. They were so charismatic, in fact, that this part of them was hidden from us out of fear. Yes, they were evil, but they were cartoonishly demonized when we were in school. We were never properly educated on how these charming snakes managed to slither their way into the German hearts.

tbh nils was a cuck for still trying to get her back and sending her money that she invested in her life with Hermann.

Your videos are amazing! Truth, whether good and bad must be respected and normally, all documentaries that you see have a clear bias towards the german people. You really set the example by honoring the facts. Thank you for your work

Over 20 years ago, we had workshops at the agricultural mechanization school. One of my colleagues had a gray work uniform obtained from the army. Everyone else blue. And because he was fat, he immediately gained the nickname Goring 😀We had fun, he came to the workshop in Hermann Goring's uniform 😀

What I find most fascinating about pre-WW2 Europe was the vibrancy of public life. You could meet interesting people in a cafe or social club, and one of your contacts might actually help you get a job or find a place to live. A high-trust society that's been totally obliterated.
