The Complete Newcomer Overhaul | Ascension Custom WoW 

I've been yelling at a certain company about the newcomer / returning player experience for a decade now. And here you are fixing that problem. Have my money. Really.

I remember seeing this project a few years ago and it's crazy how much everything has improved. I'm gonna give it another try tomorrow!

All thats left to do now is to keep the Hero Architect up-to-date, so new players know whats good right now, and not what was good 2 years ago :)

It blows my mind to think that someone sees Ascension and goes, "I've never played WoW, but this looks like the game for me." Like, that's crazy. Ascension is probably the most complicated private server I've ever played on and I didn't understand it until after reaching max level; and I had friends to help me along the way

Are there possibilities of more archtypes in the future? As someone who isn't super great at theorycrafting but still like a little tweaking here and there, I'd love to see more of this sort of stuff. CoA is amazing with its custom classes, but archtypes could get me back into regular Ascension for sure!

All around great changes, I do have a few questions, though. 1. When do you get instructed to go to the Compendium? 2. When you mentioned flight masters at the starting zones going to the next town, there's a few places like Sen'jin Village that have quests as well. Are they included? (By this I mean do they have a Flight path that would, for example, connect to razor hill in my example.) 3. Will we be able to filter mentors based on the language the mentor speaks? Not all mentors speak English, or the language a new player speaks, will this be a feature? 4. A lot of players dungeon grind, I think that a new player dungeon that brings Mentors in would be a good idea that brings those two parts of the community together. Are there plans for this in the future? 5. Will there be a "Difficulty" indicator for each of the preselected builds at character creation?

Great updates! I've already sent it to my friends to come and join Ascension! My only problem is with these, you are heading to the same direction as retail. By adding way to brainlessly walk around and spam quests and fly point to point you take the joy out from the game moth people joined for back in the days. I know 99% of the community are veterans in wow, but if you'd like to have new players coming it, design an experience that catches players. You could also implement some features for new players to feel the immersion of the world. Also please don't forget that difficulty makes games more rewarding. New players need community (not LF MS spamming in chat), a good adventure and fun. As for new players, i think these featues would help them a lot (only to very new players): 1. I think if they would remove ascension chat by default and enable it at lvl 20 or 30 for instance, it wont make your chat so bad when you join 2. Maybe you could mark new players (like driving school students) so people will be more helpful towards them 3.On elune, it would be nice if they could choose their very first spell on fresh character. Two of my friends quit there because they had no idea what was happening and what they got. I think if youd choose your attribute first then based on that youd get to choose from 4-5 starting spells based on that, it would help them a lot. 4. If you could implement number 1 then maybe it would be useful to have AN ACTUAL NEWCOMER CHAT, where mentors would be in and seperate new to wow and new to ascension players. I know this is not an option right now in general in wow, but would be nice. Right now newcomer chat has nothing to do with newcomers in general (based on what i see). Ofc this would make it include less players but more actual answer and genuine help. You are doing fantastic though! Keep it up! :)

Hi Ascension, the new player Path of Ascension is amazing! I would like you to look into the bug of learning and doing something before unlocking the step in the Path. I logged into my level 17 character and I cannot complete the 'level 10' and 'reroll your first abomility after reaching level 10' steps. I love all the work you do, keep up the amazing work ❤

First time hearing about Ascension. I would never play this because I have the normal game, and I don't know if it's an actual thing going to Northshire and seeing all those players with epic weapons, metamorphosis forms, weird NPCs that stand out (like the dwarf on his pedestal) and spamming the level-up effect. Feels wrong. BUT fair is fair, the Compendium UI looks dope and it's a shame Blizzard doesn't have something similar. Similarly, WoW's tutorial zones outside of Exile's Reach suck and new players constantly get confused as to where to go once they reach Orgrimmar/Stormwind, because you still have all the intro quests of previous expansions available... So I guess, good on you if your NPE is better.

Vid calls out that archetypes is only available on a52. What's the plan for archetype on Elune? If anything Elune needs archetype more.

I'm new to the game not ashamed to admit I needed help with the controls like this video shows. These are solid qol improvements to help us new players find a way into a classic game we missed before. The sad state of AAAA gaming is pushing a lot of people to find alternative paths to escapism and am excited to try out the new season.

Never played ascension but this looks great and UI plus video quality are off the charts! Are there any ascension servers without custom classes but just with added content?

What prevents this from getting shut down? Hard to invest in something that could disappear tomorrow

Please give me an ability to make my Adventure Mode HARDER as I progress. PLEASE. I am doing it with Resolutes and "just starting over" is a punch in the gut. Also, it would be nice to bring Tinker themed stuff to other servers through several separate talents, skills and enchants.

Wow this is really good work, I've been following the server for about a year now and I'm really surprised at the speed at which you release updates. One of the reasons I stopped playing was the difficult builds, but now I'm ready to try again 😤. Also would like to have the option to translate to Ukrainian/Russian.

Just logged in after a few year and all my vanity items and old characters are gone, including my access to CoA. All the money I put in is down the drain wasted. Why should anyone come back after getting this treatment?

Tbh, Ascension even with all these QoL improvements is still hard to understand and confusing. There are archetypes on Ares-52 so basicaly all You need to think about is gear, thats cool. But if anyone want to start playing on Elune, well...they stop, just as I did. All these weird currencies, NPCs, mythic orbs, scrolls, fragments and who know what's more mothical, my build was always like a sh1t. All I could do is spamming dungeons and hearing from time to time how useless I am with my skill combination, but with no scrolls to reroll and the actual reroll being MEGA unlucky You just feel down and stop playing, on Elune at least. Tutorial should be much more intuitive, clear, complete-noob friendly. Also I'm sorry, english is not the language I speak to I su*k with it a bit, I hope it's all clear. 😅

Get rid of RNG talents on the seasonal server. I'd really like to play again but it's just too much with random spells AND talents.
