As the most anticipated young defenseman to enter the game in over 15 years, Rasmus Dahlin joined the league at only 18 years of age; a feat virtually unheard of in the modern NHL. His skating prowess and deftness with the puck were immediately evident, but defending against men twice one's age is a struggle even for a 1st overall phenom. He continued to make gains every season, but in more ways than one, his fifth in the NHL felt like an official arrival.
The Trollhättan, Sweden native scored 73 points in 78 games, placing him fifth in the NHL, and he improved his play considerably in all three zones. A truly singular talent, Dahlin does things on the ice that no defenseman has done before. He may sometimes appear indifferent to conventions-or even wholly uninvolved-but underlying that insouciance is an edge and competitive intensity that's sure to make his Buffalo Sabres a serious (and highly entertaining) contender in the very near future.

When you are a fan of the game of hockey and you see someone like Dahlin play it gives you an immense feeling of satisfaction. He’s so skilled and has a high hockey iq and it seems like his mind, feet, and hands are all working together in unison at a very high speed. I dont watch many Sabres games so I didnt realize just how good he is but now I have an appreciation for what he brings, makes me want to go to a Sabres game next time theyre in town. Thanks for making this video, looking forward to the next one.

Never gets old seeing Dahlin's movement at the point. He's almost certainly the best game driver at the blueline. He's got the shot, the vision, the discipline. And he's got the economy of movement. He doesn't move more than he has to. Doesn't overcommit. Adjusts and tweaks at the feet. It's fuckin mesmerizing.

Definitely not textbook defensively, but an incredible player. Even in this video that is supposed to showcase his skills you can see several times where he went for hits or stepped up when he wasn't supposed to if you're playing solid defense.

@thepowerwithin9865 10 месяцев назад
@@jyhina Admittedly at times he’s willing to take a risk on defense in order to try and create offense going the other way. When he’s in the zone though, the guy is so crafty at stripping pucks and taking players off the puck.
@FINsoininen

I know its a big name to compare him with. (and a forward at that) Dahlin got that Datsyuk effect at times. Not getting past the opponents by speed or power but by deception.
@thepowerwithin9865
@thepowerwithin9865 8 месяцев назад
@@FINsoininen He’s off to a bit of a rough start this season, but he seems to get better as the year goes on. That happens to a lot of guys who recently earned a new contract. Wonderful video. And though us Sabres fans realize what we have in Rasmus Dahlin, many are not ready for what this kid is going to become when he matures into a man in the next year or so. This kid and the hard work he puts in and his tool belt. He’s going to be a legend. He’s still got a few gears left and it’s going to be wild for the whole NHL to bear witness.

Not a sabres fan but a Frölunda fan, we know it aswell. The way he sent grown men up to the stands for a hotdog almost once a game. He showed good defensive ability aswell. Just needed to learn when to take risks. That comes with age.

I agree. We haven’t seen him at the peak of his powers yet and if/when he gets there he will be challenging Makar for the Norris every year. He’s the total package in a way that no other NHL defeseman is. He has the skating and stickhandling of Makar, but he’s 6’3”, built like a truck and absolutely crushes guys. Once he puts all of his extraordinary gifts together into a complete package, the sky isn’t even the limit. Been a Dahlin fan since 2018-19 when he was an 18-year old rookie. Thank you for this, it was the most fun I had watching a "highlight reel" in some time. This was well-edited, the music was awesome, and even when the clip was of the Sabres losing big, Mr. Dahlin was still playing tough. Here along the Lake, we appreciate our number one draft pick, and now with the addition of Owen Power on defense and Devon Levi in net, we are looking to get a more positive goal differential to assist in propelling the team into the upcoming playoffs. i really dont have much to say about dahlin that other commenters havent already said, he's nutty. but can we talk about this channel? you must be like a video coach or something, at least at a major junior level, to find all these little things that would never show up in any other channel's highlight reels, even the pro TV media, yet showcase individual players' styles and strengths so well! and I'm sure you could add plenty more insight with commentary, but you choose to tell the story with just some crisp editing and let the footage speak for itself... amazing definitely time to start a patreon, dude, and grow this thing into a community of people who really love the game
