Ive spent the last two weeks planning and building a vivarium and never even considered a fogger. What a great idea. I will be modifying my build to include this now.

Just be sure you are using it for the right reason (supplementing humidity as needed for the species you are housing). If that's the case than this type of equipment can be of great assistance to you!

Very cool video man. If I ever get into more tropical species I'll defently get one of these.

Hi can you please make a video how you made the jungle and what trees/bushes/plants and stones you used. It would be very helpful keep doing what you do because it's excellent. Best regards!

If you go to my channel page you can find my first upload which is a full build video of the vivarium including the rock background making. Another video is also there for how I made the jungle vines. The live plants are golden pothos, ficus benjamina (weeping fig) and Ficus binnendijkii 'Alii' (bamboo ficus). Don't forget to subscribe, will be uploading more on this build and new stuff too!

Really great video. For my giant, terrarium build, I ended up using a combination of rigid PVC, piping and silicone tubing. This week, I could keep my fogger, low, yet be sure that any condensation would run back directly into the machine without clogging the pipes.

At the end of your video, Is your humidifier on high or low? I have a 4ft tall enclosure, but I’d like to put the unit below, out of sight. Wondering how much fog it will produce. Great video by the way.

In my experience the humidifiers are able to push the fog quite high even on the lower settings (mine is set at the lowest possible output on a timer). If you set up your unit to be below just do your best to make the line/piping to the enclosure is as direct as possible. Don't have any sagging areas or they will collect water and inhibit the flow of fog to the enclosure. Also minimize the amount of hard turns in the line. Hope this helps!

Is there a maximum length that you can use for the tubing? I"m building a 29g vivarium that'll sit on a stand. The stand has doors on the front but an open back, and I was hoping to be able to keep the mister inside the stand and run the tube up the back and into the top of the tank.

It should be fine to set it up as you described. I have done similar before without issue. Just do your tubing as direct as possible to where you want it to go in. Avoid any loops or sagging as the mist can condense and pool in the tubing and block it from reaching the end of the tube.

Question for anyone keeping terrariums with DIY foggers - i use a cool mist humidifier plumbed into a terrarium. I continue to experience condensation buildup at the (starting point of fog/tubing connection) that prevents steam from entering enclosure. Anyone found a solution to this??
@SpectrumVivaria
@SpectrumVivaria 3 года назад
I’m not sure I 100% understand what your problem is that you’re having but I’ll try to suggest some stuff that may help. You want the tubing to the enclosure to be as direct as possible, minimizing any hard turns/curves in the line from fogger to enclosure. That way any condensed water will either fall into the enclosure or fall back into the fogger depending on if you have it set up above or below the enclosure. I think having the fogger sitting on top or above the enclosure is the best location for this reason as gravity helps you. If you have the output tubing of the fogger just sitting on top of ventilation mesh, the mesh can hold condensation and block the fog from going in. If that’s the case here are some ideas that might help you. -Make a wider opening for the fog tubing so that it is spread out more and has less chance of pooling water on the mesh in a small area. Eg. Attach the tube onto a funnel and have it facing upside down on top of the enclosures ventilation mesh. -Raise the tube so it’s not sitting directly on top of the mesh (the above suggestion also helps with this) -The best solution: Have the tubing directly enter the terrarium so there’s nothing that can obstruct the tube output.

@@SpectrumVivaria Thank you for the response. I've ben able to observe the misting action more closely this past week and see two problem areas for sure as you noted; there is indeed a curve in tubing (i had burned some pin holes that i had hoped would help allow build up to drip off but obviously not a win) also the output is narrowed down using an old pen casing (i thought was genius at the time LOL) and that may indeed be too small an opening - as that is where the condensation is built up and blocking the mist. So i will stretch tube to be as straight as possible and hope gravity fixes the narrow opening issue and if not, then i'll redesign my connection so that it is wider and hopefully that will be the fix! Thanks again for your reply!
