Top 5 ways for air circulation in a vivarium, paludarium, terrarium, and arid enclosure. I also go over a DIY, step by step on how I build my 40mm CPU fans attached to a Mistking nozzle. Adding air circulation to your reptile or amphibians enclosures has a lot of benefits to reduce stagnant air. It also allows the plants to breath and I have witnessed great plant growth. when choosing one of the 5 methods, do your research to see what the best option is for your animal. I hope you enjoyed the video.

Thanx for watching and your support. Check out my Patreon, I have a lot of unedited, behind the scenes footage of where I'm at on my current builds. I mainly wanted to show different ways for air circulation (with #4 being ventilation althoug Ii do have a fan in there). Also I wanted to show ypu all the DIY on how I made the 40mm fans with a mistking nozzle. It is important to mention that air circulation has a lot of benefits inside an enclosure. It can reduce the chance of respiratory infection, prevent harmful particles & mold, take away stagnant air, help plant growth, and create a more natural environment for your animal with a breeze. These are just a few benefits. I didn't want to get into it too much because all animals will have different requirements for strength of air flow and duration. But let me know what you have found some of the benefits to be? I'll note that I do not run my fans 24/7. They are on timers and only run a few times a day for an hour at a time or so (my Chameleon enclosure runs from when the lights turn on and off). 🤘💯🦎🐸🐢🐍

Bro this is UNREAL! I am currently setting up a brand new enclosure that will be bioactive and fairly humid.. I am very tempted to try the rear T shaped ventilation system with the 40mm fan, absolutely superb. You genuinely are an inspiration for me when it comes to these setups, and if I can get anywhere close to the results you get I'll be buzzing!

Thanx bro, and yeah I was searching for something that would prevent having to cut the wires for maintenance work or just needing to remove them for some reason. I was riding my motorcycle and remembered I used them for my air ride. Thought to myself, how did I forget about those 😆. Butnj agree i hate having to cut holes buffer then needed. The cool thing is the quick disconnects fit through the 5/8th mistking hole with ease. Thanx for watching! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐢🐍🌱

@@bradsbioactivebuilds that’s kick ass dude! This year will be 3 years for me. Proud of you man because I know the kinds of dark places we have been in the past. I’m curious what your ideas would be for a removable realistic rock looking nest/dig box for a monitor enclosure. I’ve been trying to plan something up in my head but can’t quite get an exact plan together. Might be a cool project for you to tackle in the future.
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds 10 месяцев назад
@TMAckies congrats on coming up on 3! We definitely have been to some dark place, but we have the opportunity to come out of it better than we went into it. The ability to live 2 lives in 1 lifetime! #greatful I have thought about doing a video on that. For the big build I'm working on now I left the bottom left side under the basking ledge (you'll see the ledge in part 3) is as empty of a space as possible with no crazy hardscape (other than the wall carved, no ledges like i originally planned.) So if needed I can put a large tot their. But the idea I have is to just cut a hole in the top or side, then spray foam it. Then, use polygem zoopoxy over that. I'm sure I would incorporate a heat mat to the side or something if that nature if it were a lay box. (I'm pretty sure what I have going in their is a male, but still a little too soon to tell.) But this would give it the natural look we would be going for. It would just be designing it in 2 separate pieces so we would still have access to remove the top. You got my mind rolling to start brainstorming! #friendofbillw 🤘💯🦎🐸🐢🐍🌱
@TMAckies

@@bradsbioactivebuilds Sounds like life is really amazing now for both of us which is kick ass. Yeah my idea was going to revolve around a tote I just can’t quite figure out how I would make the removable lid or how to add a heat pad. I’m going to need it for when my pairs are older for breeding. Also I plan on getting a pair of Kimberly Rock monitors at the end of September. Keep up the good videos brother they inspire me with my own ideas!
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds 10 месяцев назад
@TMAckies for sure, for the lid I would do them I 2 separate peices, then pit the lid on and tie it together with Zoopoxy just leaving a slight gap between the 2 so the lid would still come off. Kind of creating a rock overhang/ledge of that makes sense. I found more intricate pieces, it's always best to do them in stages. Takes longer but easier outcomes. Kim's are on my list. If you ever get some eggs lmk!

Hi, Ive been trying to set up a 65 gallon aquarium as a bioactive terrarium for a few months but have been struggling to use the common info on how to ventilate it properly. I will be growing tropical plants in it and will possibly add some insects like isopods and snails. I have no intentions of putting any vertebrates in it. I tested out a no ventilation 10 gallon and have had lots of issues with mushrooms and melt. Can I just install two computer fans that run in opposite directions? Like one sucking in air and the other going out? Most of the builds on RU-vid seem to be focused on reptiles and most insect ones don't include any ventilation at all, so its unclear what is standard for the project Im working on Edit: forgot to mention that the aquarium has a hood with lights in it, so I would be installing the fans in the hood. It's pretty old and I got it second hand for $40 so if I have to cut the hood to fit the fans I can.
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds 9 месяцев назад
Mushrooms are generally a good sign of a health terrarium, and will typically have a bloom and subside. You will also get a mold bloom in the beginning stages until everything acclimate. They springtails would take care of the rest. Ventalation will always help for a few different reasons. Send me a pic on IG so I can see what you are talking about better with a visual. Hope this helps so far 🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸🌱

Thanks for the video! I have a new tropical vivarium that I'm still getting ready before I add any reptiles. I tried 2 120mm fans resting horizontally on top of the screen, but my humidity plummets. Would you suggest me putting them inside, hanging from the top screen more upright (it's a 36x18x36 enclosure with a Ficus tree and a dracaena tree)? The 120mm fans may be too big to attach to a misting nozzle. Or should I just set them aside and buy a couple 40mm ones? Or will 1 fan be enough? Thanks again!

Thank you, and 1 or 2 40mm fans would do the trick. The 40mm fans I added to the description will do. I believe they sell a dual unit as well (2 fans 1 cord) that could work also. Yoh, don't need a wind tunnel, just a slight gust. I have mine on timers that go off for about an hour a few times a day. But depending on what you are housing in there will determine how u will utilize the fans. Hope this helps

Great question, i wasn't sure but gave it a go. I had an 80mm fan in a paludarium with 90% humidity that ran for over 8 years. The longest running 40mm fan I have in a paludarium is just about 2 years. I have 2 of them in the airduct system. 1 of them runs just fine. The other makes a short 5-second winding noise when it kicks on. In my big enclosure, it's only been a few months, and I haven't noticed any issues. My Blue Tree Monitor enclosure has no issues since it was installed over a year ago. I figure at this rate, the motor will naturally burn out before the environment makes them. But they are easy and cheap enough to replace if needed. Hope this answers your question. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

@bridiemegan where are you pulling readings from in the enclosure? The higher up away from the substrate it will be less humidity. The sound will hold it in which is OK. Also make sure you are using a good gauge for your readings. A lot of cheap ones on Amazon I never had luck with.

As far as ventilation in the vivarium , I’m going to be doing a 55 gallon aquarium vivarium , do you recommend putting the T method air circulation you used or attaching the 40MM fan to the Mistking Nozzle ?

How long does this little fan hold up in the humidity of being misted on?

You would definitely want to keep it out of a straight shot if mister. I have an 80mm fan going 10 years strong in a 90%+ dartfrog vivarium. The longest 40mm fan I have running in another dart frog vivarium is just about 2 years. In my less humid enclosures (60% to 80%) I don't see to much of an issue. But time will tell, I think the motor would run out before humidity played a factor. But they are fairly cheap and easy to make Hope this helps. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
