AWESOME work guys! This is one of the best explanations and set of infographics I've seen, and I'm constantly looking for good videos to teach this subject. You need to take this global and everyone on the planet needs to see it! Multiple language versions (or, at the very least, subtitles) and less of a US-centric focus would make this possible.

Hi and thank you for the love! Guido here, argentinean filmmaker for Kiss the Ground, and I couldn't agree more. You'll be glad to hear that we're currently working on the Spanish version of this video, and we're partnering with an organization named RIzoma to bring Kiss the Ground to Brasil! Definitely looking to bring more content to Latin America this year. Regarding subtitles, all of our content is open for contirbutions here in RU-vid, so if you'd like to collaborate with the subtitles for this video that would be great! Please shoot me an email at guido@kisstheground.com if you'd like to discuss any other way of collaboration. More life!

Great, BUT... those compost bins *do* need to come with loud and clear instructions. Aside from non-compostable material being put in them, people often wait until they are full before putting them out to be picked up. In those intervening weeks, the detritus goes anaerobic, which stinks, contains pathogens and is no longer suitable for composting!!!

Perhaps because of the part where they say we’re the only creature that produces waste. This is ridiculous, pretty much every living being on Earth produces waste, be it poop, pee, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and many more things. Not because another living being will use it doesn’t mean it’s not waste for the organism that produced it

Composting is not enough. Being CONSUMER is not enough. This protects not wildlife, oceans, rainforests, ocean floors, regions that get mined for oil, minerals etc. It needs Able Active Caring Citizens learning humanity's finest solutions for everything, incl making school days awesome, doing projects not protests, living values without fear, so healthy babies stay healthy, and grow into peaceful adults ... that have no obsessive need for status, money, security doors, greeeeeed ... and become sound entrepreneurs and good governors. Compost does none of that.

This is awesome! But if we stop relying on pesticides, crops we grow are going to be at greater risk of falling to disease and being bug-ridden. I'd find it surprising to see this innovative march go far without pesticides that keep our crops safe. Please look to the quality standard of Europe when it comes to using pesticides. They have the strictest, therefore safest, pesticide regulatory system.

We are insane. I can't believe so many suburbs in Alabama (visited the gulf coast last year) don't have a yard waste processing company. It's all just considered trash. Wtf???!?? It's an agricultural state! But so many neighborhoods have been built and managed like it's still 2005. But in Seattle/king county, we have yard waste. So that it can be composted, and yet we are a very urban county. I don't get it.

@Iquey
@Iquey 3 года назад
There's gonna be some chemicals in it but it's still biological matter. There are lots of weeds that take up poisons into their stems and roots out of the soil. Idk about all pesticides since glyphosate is very nasty stuff, but over time there's going to be microbes that evolve resistance to pesticides anyway, so we may as well just try and get back to how nature works when it comes to food production. I believe though that because yes, the pesticides are already on the plants and in the water supply, it's just going to be a problem we will have to deal with for decades, with hopefully regenerative agriculture that will either dilute the pesticides, and more sophisticated soil testing and mapping technologies so we can find out what areas are chemically distressed. Ideally we should stop all pesticides where possible, and switch to pest management that's less chemically dependent, such as using greenhouses, row covers, indoor farming, and improving soil health so the plants can create their own defenses, and defender insects, and poultry like ducks, chickens, and grouse/quai can live in neighboring bushes or co-planting. It may be more costly but at least it wouldn't sicken the soil and poison the water.
