Thank you Stephen! Tying the treatment you give to the highlight on the sphere to the same on a portrait is the missing point in most online coures and tutorials I've seen recentl y. This is refreshing. Please keep it up!

Well, calling my art hobby a career is quite a stretch, but I have done quite a lot of these basic shaded balls, eggs and stones. Mostly in graphite and charcoal, lately also in watercolor. To an extend that my daughter has started making fun of me...🤣

Stephen, I have a Rotring mechanical pencil with thick lead of 2.0 . How do you make your lead so pointy ? It looks like Spear ! Could you explain me the sharping process please ? I would be really glad as I have absolutely no clue how to sharp leads used in mechanical pencils (to be honest I broke a few of them so far) . If it happens that you read my comment, thank you very much for your time :)

Really fine grain sandpaper. Rub it back and forth until you get the point to your desired length.

Hello one question. When shading an apple, is it better to make the shading lines straight or following the shape of the object (oval lines)?

In general, I prefer straight lines. If the situation dictates curves then so be it.
