Just got caught up on this series, not bad at all, has some really great shots. What I learned: is if your kid is possessed go ahead and sleep in the same room with them and remove all the door knobs in the house.

I think there also a lot to be said about the success of the Conjuring when it had been so long since a high budget horror film did well. we had years of Paranormal Activity movies and the whole found footage genre, so to have a horror movie with a high production value actually nail the scares was a breathe of fresh air

Weird to call The Conjuring a blatant rip-off of Poltergeist when James Wan and Leigh Whannell also made Insidious, which they've acknowledged was directly inspired by Poltergeist. I remember reading reviews of that very mediocre Poltergeist remake that called it redundant, because Insidious was basically already a well-made remake of Poltergeist.

The part that Greg was talking about around 13:20 actually made me scream the first time I saw it haha. Didn’t expect it to pan up like that, the you expect a jump scare out of the wardrobe, but not on top of it haha

I disagree with the Statement that every horror movie just needs 90 Minutes. Hereditary would’ve never worked in 90 minutes. The wailing would’ve never worked in 90 minutes 😅

Any A24 movie, really, could hit 120 minutes and I'd have no problems. The VVitch, Midsommar, and Hereditary are all true works of art and are some of my favorite horror films of all time.

I’m sure the content has been strenuous to put together online, but a small silver lining of the current situation is how In Review can have these guests who wouldn’t be able to be on every week if this was filmed in person. Loved Elyse on LOTR and loving her and James on this. A small silver lining that can create some amazing collabs that would be hard to schedule in the olden days!

After I first saw The Conjuring in theaters I struggled for weeks trying to figure out why the iconic basement "Hide and Clap" scene seemed so familiar. Search for the music video to John Mellencamp's 1982 single "Jack & Diane" to find the answer.

I have actually driven by the real house the film is based on. It looks nothing like the one in the film. Its in the middle of a woodsy area in Rhode Island so its kinda creepy. Definitely wouldn’t want to drive in that area at night haha.

watching this movie in the theater and it haunts me to till day. Still remember I had to do overtime in the office on Sunday and feel something wrong suddenly and then I smell a rotten thing and I feel really scared and leave the office straight away. Another thing that I always wake up at night and when I check my watch it shows 3:00+ am...shiet still scared me to this day.

Poltergeist may be a classic in some ways but it isn't scary. There is just way too much goofiness in it and i am not talking about the effects. The Conjuring 1 and 2 and Smile are probably all tied as movies i have watched repeatedly and they still give me chest pains every time.

Conjuring 1 and 2 are great, but it depends on what you're looking for regarding horror films. If you're more into the ones that have a jump scare every few minutes, these films aren't for you. These go more into building suspense over time, and only occasionally showing you something creepy. They're all about the atmosphere, like a good horror game. Can't speak for the rest of the series though. Haven't seen The Nun or the Annabelle films.

I guess he's never seen Insidious. It was also made by James Wan and Leigh Whannell and it was pretty much a remake of Poltergeist in all but name, but still managed to actually be a good movie in its own right. Then the remake of Poltergeist was churned out later and it sucked.
