“Ah got hauled away, yer know. Aye, ah did. Ah mean look at us-ah'm hardly a threat, am ah? So, what happened was ah went up to the Militia office, like, and I telt them, ‘Me biscuit rations no good, they taste shite. Ah gave them all to me Mam-she told us.’ Whey, at fust they tried to pretend thee were good, so ah said, ‘Thoo, 'ave yer teabreak, get a biscuit, ah'll watch thee scoff it.’
Anyway, ah'd been there about an hour, and next thing ah know, they've clapped us in a chain. Ah was there about a week. It was only when this lad, Braw Bradley, from me old school turned up ah got out. He was a big wig, like. Was funny as well, cos at school he used to work us all the time.”
