@@dgrblue4162 They aren’t? That would be like counting the PlayStations all together, both of which make no sense. The 3DS line alone has sold 75 million, and the DS line alone has sold 154 million
The best console is the Switch, and Wii they have the greatest JRPG games with no American political games. PS2 isn't as bad as the PS4 and PS5 but it still had a lot of your average shooters a.k.a propaganda games
No it's just because it had a DVD player. Dvd players back then were HELLA expensive and when the ps2's went on sale with the "slim" models ppl went tf in
@@friendlyneighborhoodnoobit sold over 100 million units, that's more than any of Microsofts consoles It was the 6th best selling console of all time and helped make Nintendo dominant in the console market for a period helping the DS as well....then the WiiU fucked it up
@@deacologyou can natively play gba games on 3ds. And you need only Wii U (and the Switch if you count it as a home console) to play every Nintendo home console game
That’s funny because a huge reason, probably the reason, the PS2 and PS4 sold so many is when they came out they were actually cheaper than buying a dvd or blu ray player respectively at the time. So you could not only play movies for cheaper but also get a game system.
What company? I hope you don't mean Nintendo since even in this top 5 video three of the consoles featured were from them. Even if this video was a top 6, the Nintendo Wii would be there with over 100 million units sold.
What are you talking about? Nintendo is the only company not selling their consoles at a loss. There's a recent video of Phill Spencer talking about this, Xbox and Playstation sell their consoles at a loss for the first two years. They expect to make up for it by selling their games. Nintendo wants to keep their systems affordable for the average consumer, that's why their specs are never top notch.
@@infinitemillennium3821bro it's opinions on what's better, it's not objective. Let's be real, chances are the one that's better for most people is the one they grew up with or the newer ones from the company they grew up with
Nintendo did lost the 5th and 6th gen miserably. But they won the 7th. Ps3 totally killed themselves with $499 price tag at that time even though it's the cheapest blue-ray with HD minimum support it's not like ps2 that still cost only $299 with the cheapest DVD player at that time
The reason the PS2 sold so many copies is because ‘Why buy a DVD player for 300 dollars when you can buy a video game console that also plays DVDs for 300 dollars.”
@@Diabeetus. i think not! USA almost Destroyed the gaming industrie. Remember ATARI ,ET, LANDFILL? JAPAN saved the gaming business. And why? Because USA are capitalist they didnt make games with Passion but for money!
I dont even remember turning off my ps2 when i was a kid. Didnt play with a memory card for months, how else was i suppose to finish the game, dad just had to pay those overdue funds for me and my brother renting games
I have / had all these consoles but the ORIGINAL gameboy. I had a GBC tho. I have a ps4 pro, I have a switch, I have a ps2. I have a 3DS still but got rid of my Zelda themed ds many years ago when needing cash.
Playstation 2 sold so much because it was the cheapest dvd player as that was the newest home media technology at that time. I remember when my older brother and I were discussing it. This dvd Phillips dvd player is 499, 399. The ps2 is a dvd player at 299, and it plays games.
It's funny how the ps2 is the most sold gaming console yet it only sold that much because it was a cheaper way to watch dvds like the matrix, tbh I think sales for the DVD use shouldn't count
In my country u didn't really need in game chat feature...we have something called "PS rental", it's playstation version of internet cafe, so you just pay for an hour and can play with your friends
