I love how they ended the Conspiracy Guy series like a beloved Broadway run had ended, complete with Chris Elliot in a smoking jacket and a girl bringing him flowers. Dave's first few years at NBC were so fresh and groundbreaking.
Right? I mean her whole family has been involved in shady doings from the get-go, as far back as when they first came to America and they... Hey, get your hands off me I'm trying to post something here, who do you think you are - let me go... Hey, he -- -
I remember seeing the very first one and the very last one when they first aired, but missed all the ones in between. Now here's the whole damned thing! Unbelievable.
Really appreciate all of your uploads. If you are worried about getting pulled off youtube for posting full episodes, please go to dailymotion. Much more under the radar. I don't think Dave has any rights to his NBC Late Night, thats in Carson's or NBC's hands. So your uploads and a handful of others is the only way we will probably get to see this.
Another Funny video Don . Thanks for sharing. Great editing, some fine work. Your collection is probably like the Carson collection stored in that underground saltmine. Just wall to wall Vhs tapes. How did you know to record so much??
Don Giller that's so cool . I never got NBC Letterman, here in Ireland. CBS Letterman is were my Letterman journey began. TV station over here picked up how red hot the whole Letterman/Leno battle was. He (Letterman) was is funny!!! Also I never realized how hilarious Chris Elliott is. I knew was funny but these clips /montages are new level funny!!! 😂
But, that picture is of John Glenn! www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/98/Gordon_Cooper_2.jpg/220px-Gordon_Cooper_2.jpg&imgrefurl=en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Cooper&h=275&w=220&tbnid=zBekZolRme15zM:&tbnh=160&tbnw=128&usg=__BafuZOYwmeMqhScGzEjuB8KueAk=&vet=10ahUKEwic6YP0xMPWAhWqr1QKHccoA0cQ_B0IsgEwEw..i&docid=Jl84XjYFUyV6IM&itg=1&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwic6YP0xMPWAhWqr1QKHccoA0cQ_B0IsgEwEw
At 3:00 the gray haired guy with glases looking back at Chris Elliott. Looks like Swedish tv personlity Lasse Holmqvist. Kan det stämma fellow svenskar?
I think the plug was pulled on The Conspiracy Guy a bit prematurely. The other running gags Elliot did afterwards were good too, but surely this was the best of them. This one bit was especially funny. Nice to see it once again 7:33
THAT'S part of the conspiracy! That the bit was cut short before it had a chance to really develop. Another potential conspiracy: When they show the still photograph of astronaut Gordon Cooper, it appears that the man in the image is actually John Glenn. If I'm right, this fits in neatly with Shaffer and the shredded documents, Wendel and the money laundering, and Connie Chung's committee of 12. The conspiracy was so widespread that it even touched NASA!
Chris Elliots was inspired... he tapped into something... he was the GOAT... I think they call it"the zeitgeist" not mention Calvert Deforest, Hal Gurney and Bill Wendle... Dave was surrounded by geniuses
5:47 Paul and Dave establish the date as Wednesday, December 7th. The problem here is that December 7th was a THURSDAY in 1983! The conspiracy guy was definitely on to something!
Anyone know if the Conspiracy Guy character was based on Harvey Pekar? If memory serves, Letterman once had to shut down an interview segment with Pekar after he let loose on GE. I adore Chris Elliott -- for sure one of the funniest persons ever--but the conspiracy guy was probably my least favourite of his characters. That and the end of the Brando days, when Letterman cut short a skit that was just silly. Bananas!
What a timeless approach. Just have the subject escorted out by well dressed in-shape guys in dark glasses. Alas, doing the same thing to his neighbor in the audience was, by comparison, a general turdblossom for Chris to use in adorning his tired conspiracy-bashing gag, (which I incidentally hate.) More fake shrimp, please!!!
@@baldwinwallace4926 You mean the guy who committed suicide even though conspiracy morons, and Clinton haters, think otherwise? Check the real facts,he offed himself.
Dave's show was so refreshingly funny and original in the 1980's. I wish all celebrities would keep their political opinions to themselves, and not use their celebrity as a soapbox.
They're citizens too. And as citizens, they have every fucking right to criticize an administration they're unhappy with under the first amendment of the constitution.
I think the perfect ending to this would have been right as the three of them sit down next to Dave Dave decides he's going to reveal what the big conspiracy is and just starts to get started talking and suddenly it says "please stand by"...
