1. I think that the statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" is Rizal's destiny to be spark of the revolution that we needed in our country. He was born when the other countries are being freed from their colonizers. So when he studied abroad, he will gain knowledge on how other countries attained their freedom. This give Rizal an inkling on how we will disseminate his knowledge to our fellow Filipinos his knowledge. He made his on unique style on how to liberate our country without fighting with violence. He made his masterpiece to inspire us and that would make him the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen. 2.Rizal's thinking was influenced by the rise of liberalism around the globe. It inspired him to believe in the independence of our country. Liberalism in a country also entails holding free and fair elections, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring the protection of civil liberties. Dr. Jose Rizal used it in his writings because he wanted Filipinos to be aware of what was going on in other countries around the world. He seeks individual rights and democracy for the people, which is why he left the Philippines to study in Europe, where he may observe people's lives, laws, and governments in order to prepare for the liberation of the country. This is when he begins work on his two major novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which have served as a source of inspiration and influence for those who yearn for the Spanish Empire's freedom. 3.Yes Guanzon(A06)

1.The rapid spread of liberalism across the Europe prevails as the Spanish empire diminishes, the birth of Rizal is somehow looking as if predestined to happen. May it be coincidentally happened or not, there is no right time and right place on which nationalism would triumph. As more vexations are commited, it is highly possible that Rizal's stand on liberalism would rise whatever place he was born and whatever time he was born on. But to be honest, it would be difficult for me to imagine the life we are experiencing nowadays if Rizal wasn’t born during that time. It is possible that liberals would already exist even without Rizal, but during those times our country lacks the courage to make a stand against tyranny and it is a polish gem for a birth of a man who first stood up in showing the people that we deserve the civil liberties deprived from us. 2. Rizal unfolds his mind on the idea of liberalism, as he becomes an ilustrado in Madrid. It is in the heart of the Spanish empire on which he realized that the Europeans’ life is a paradox of what Filipinos are experiencing. Though, there are numerous liberals living in Europe, Rizal believed that because there is no separation between church and state, the colonizers have filtered their liberal values which were amplified by the robust influence of friar interest. All of the vexation happened in the country such as deprivation of freedom to religion, freedom of speech, freedom of private property etc is evident on the events of his two novels: Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. To conclude, the travails of Filipinos under the Spanish empire is the exact opposite of what underlies on the meaning of liberalism and this is where his ideals started igniting the revolution in the Philippines. 3. 1) The statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." gave me an insight into making Rizal the perfect man to bring independence in our country. During his time, some countries that were invaded by Spain got their independence and this opened the minds of many that other countries can make it too. Rizal being a wise and patriotic man who also had his studies in Europe, learned that we can also be free from the Spaniards. He used his learning and experiences as his weapon to take the chance of getting our independence in a silent but powerful revolution. I believe that the thought of this statement does not mean literally but rather a perfect timeline for a great man to shine and take action on the current situation. 2) Liberalism promotes democracy - individual rights, freedom, openness, and respect for one’s ideas. It is a political doctrine that protects individuals not being involved in political problems. The rise of liberalism equates to the widespread of democracy. The monarchs shared their power with the people and the people have now the right and power unlike before. Through this, Rizal being a local was free and allowed to express his ideals for the Philippines. He applied the concept of democracy to his life in which he was able to express himself freely through writing and making novels. Thus, a propaganda movement was established during the rise of liberalism. The ideas in this reform were about individual freedom, equality before the rule of law, political values, and justice which caught the attention of the Spanish authorities. Rizal is not just a writer but a man who provides liberalism in the Philippines. 3) YES, I watched the entire video lecture. Yap (A01)

1) We all know that Dr. Jose Rizal is a one of a kind Filipino, his brains cannot be matched, his will to lead the country cannot be exceeded. Him being born on that era is like a destiny waiting to be fulfilled by one one of the greatest minds on that time. It's fate for which Dr. Jose Rizal is the one true "hero" on which he can single handedly inspire other Filipinos on his own great ways to bring back the democracy for the Philippines. Him not existing in that era is like a Living thing without the heart, a vehicle without its engine, electronics without its battery. We know that he was just a part of our freedom, but he was the spark Filipinos needed, he was the spark to keep the fire burning in each Filipino who fought against the Spaniards. He truly inspired the Filipino that were hopeless for the independence that we truly seek. 2)Dr. Jose Rizal had great ideas for the Philippines and one of which is for the country to achieve its independence from the Spaniards. The rise of liberalism gave way for this ideal because it is the belief that individual freedom should be the basis of a fair society. Before our country achieved freedom from the Spaniards, we first experienced captivity from them. The rise of liberalism focused on human rights and democracy, it gave Dr. Jose Rizal the fire in his heart to write the books that became the inspiration to other Filipino heroes on fighting for the democracy of our country. We all know that when the Spaniards took over the Philippines, the Filipinos was held as slaves, indios, and inferiors to them. Being in the time of liberalism, its like a match made in heaven because of how knowledgeable Dr. Jose Rizal on the governance of other countries. He doesn't want to be held down by people who isn't even born on the country. Dr. Jose Rizal was brave enough to write the books and he also knows that his brains is the remaining piece of the grit and strength of the people who fought war. Therefore, Liberalism is the way of accepting that any race, status, and beliefs are all equal and no one deserves to be held back by people who think that they are superior to others. 3) Yes Tataro - A07

1.) Jose Rizal is a nationalist, and since childhood, he has been a patriot and dedicated his life to the welfare of his nation and fellow citizens. It was rightly said that Rizal was born at the right time and right place as he was the one who fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He was considered the most diversely talented person to have ever lived in the Philippines. Rizal, through his writing, many Filipinos are enlightened. These writings encouraged people to stand against the injustice of Spanish Friars and the colonial government. Rizal followed two methods that were nobility and dignity and these methods made him different from other revolutionaries or nationalists. Since his last breath, he did not accept the Catholic principles and continued writing against them. This was the reason he was arrested and later was publicly executed. His death developed aggression among his followers and the youth of the nation. Rizal's execution was believed to be the first cause of the beginning of the Revolution in the Philippines. 2.) Liberalism is a policy that is a modern ideology that emphasizes an individual's rights and values, sovereignty, and consent. This philosophy emphasizes freedom of expression and dissent. It values human rights and the elimination of oppression. Jose Rizal was a source of inspiration for Filipino nationalism. These concepts expanded throughout the world due to the emergence of modernity. These philosophies inspired Rizal as well. Rizal viewed liberalism as a means of breaking free from the chains of colonialism and imperialism. He authored various pieces on political rights and emancipation due to his freedom of expression. He considered himself to be a liberal thinker. He questioned modernity's paradox under a new liberal government. Despite their modernity, many countries do not enable their subjects to use their rights. El Filibusterismo, his work, is a critical examination of power and dominance. Furthermore, in his novel Noli me tángere, published in 1886, Jose Rizal discussed the corruption in Spanish society. The concept of liberal principles was spread through newspapers and books. As a result, Rizal rose to prominence as the primary propagandist. He also wrote articles and letters, such as "La Liga Filipina," in which he encouraged all women and young girls to educate themselves and take a stand against injustices done to them. As a result, Rizal wished for his country to be enlightened and free like the European nations, where everyone had equality and freedom. 3.) Yes Resurreccion (A01)

1. The idea ''Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place.'' I think is because Dr. Jose Rizal was born on June 19, 1861, and in that year was when the world is experiencing many events such as the rise of liberalism. Jose Rizal was born when the Spanish empire is starting to decline and lose its colonies except for the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Rizal was born at the right time and right place because we all know what he has done for our country and that Rizal expressed his love for our country and through his novels exposing the Spanish government. The idea "He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen'' for me has to do with Dr. Jose Rizal starting the revolution through his novels and inspiring the Filipinos to fight that would free the Philippines from being colonized. 2. Because of the Rise of Liberalism, Dr. Jose Rizal was able to express his love not only for the Filipino people but also for his love for the country. Rizal is a very smart and educated person and he was dedicated to doing everything for his people. Because of the rise of liberalism, Rizal was able to express his ideals and rights by writing novels and others like essays and poems that he could express his ideas to the Filipino people, and what he did was the start of the revolution. Dr. Jose Rizal fought the Spanish Empire not by shedding blood but through his works. Because of liberalism and Rizals' writing, the Filipino people were able to fight for their rights and achieve the independence that they deserve. 3.Yes Ladrido,A01

1. The idea "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." was a good context since I think Jose Rizal was born in order to save the Philippines and to be declared as a National Hero. In my opinion, Jose Rizal's destiny is to be born by that time and in that place since he is the key in order for the Philippines to get the revolution and the independence the country needs. His story says it all that he manages to continue his life even though things are going bad for the Philippines. He still choose to sacrifice himself in order for the Philippines to get a good future. That is why, for me, that he was born in order to save the Philippines and that is his destiny. To be the National hero of the Philippines. 2. Since democracy is the main idea of the rise of the liberalism, Jose Rizal manages to express his ideals for the Philippines because Jose Rizal is smart when it comes to choosing a government by writing his books. His story says it all that he became a good man and I think he is ready to sacrifice himself for the Philippines that time. Jose Rizal is an open-minded person and that is one of the reason why he gives way to express his ideals for the Philippines. His book Noli Me Tangere exposed the happenings in the government and was stimulated the movement of independence. 3. Yes. Ligutan (A06)

1. Before Rizal was born, the Spanish Empire had been declining due to the number of colonies revolting against them. There was also the rise of liberalism which led to a more democratic way of ruling, which somehow abolished most of the monarchy, knowing that most of the European countries were formerly empires. Not only were the colonies free but also the US slaves were also freed by their former president Abraham Lincoln. The acceptance of a Mexican president that didn't come of Spanish descent. Rizal being born after a number of important world events gave him and the world time to understand or know how to handle our country's situation. Rizal studying in Europe was somehow fated since it gave him more ideas about liberalism and Rizal being a Filipino also helped. If these world events didn't exist before Rizal, maybe he would have been clueless about what to do. 2. The rise of liberalism gave way for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines by having a more concrete democracy. Compared to monarchy which is ruled by kings and queens, democracy gives others who are not royal-blooded to rule. With democracy, there’s more freedom on whom to choose as a leader. During those times freedom is what we lack. Liberalism is more about the freedom of an individual. I think, the rise of liberalism and freedom of other colonies from empires, became an eye-opener for Rizal while he was studying in Europe. With that, he had the hope for the Philippines to be free and to rule their own like the other Spanish colonies. Maybe he also thought that if others can, why can’t we? His well-known novels certainly opened the eyes of every reader to the harsh truth of the country’s situation. Sparked the minds and craved for the freedom that we deserve. 3. Yes. Santos (A07)

1. Dr. Jose Rizal was born when there was a rise of liberalism and other countries were already free and planning to be free from the colony of Spain and who would have thought that on June 19, 1861, someone like him was born to be one of the leaders who would spark the revolution and be considered as our National Hero today. It was indeed the right timing since the Spanish Empire was already decaying at that time due to corruption of the colonial government, union of church and state, unjust treatment. Jose Rizal’s knowledge and urge to get the freedom we’re experiencing right now help the people to unite and fight for what they deserve during that time. By publishing his two great novels, Noli Me Tangere & El Filibusterismo, it became an inspiration to other Filipinos and an eye opening message to do what is right and stop the oppressors in colonizing the Philippines and other countries as well. 2. Liberalism is our openness to accept new ideas, thoughts, opinions, etc. from other people even though you two have different perspectives from each other. I think Liberalism helped Dr. Jose Rizal in a way where he got the chance to publish his two well known novels - Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. These two novels were published for the Filipinos that time to be enlightened on what is really happening during that time; about how the Church and Spaniards ruled the Philippines, showing how bad the Spanish Government was in the country, like how the Filipinos had their limited rights, how they struggled from them and how harsh the rules were. He also wrote essays, poems, editorials and other writing forms to express his ideas that the Filipinos should stand up for what we think is right and just. Most of his works are all about independence and how Filipinos should be free from the oppressors. 3. Yes Remoquillo (A06)

1.) He was born at the right time and in the right place because in Rizal's time there was the rise of liberalism and many of the Spanish empires came out for their freedom against the Spaniards and won. This is what gave the opportunity to our people who started to think of having a revolution as well to free themselves from foreign invaders. Dr. Jose Rizal was the instrument for us to achieve freedom because he was the only one who had the strength to ignite a revolution for our people to fight the war against the Spaniard governments. That results in the beginning of the war of our Filipino people against the Spaniards. 2.) The rise of liberalism gave Rizal the opportunity to express his ideas for the Philippines in such a way that it provoked his desire to free his country from the Spaniards. The situation itself gave a chance not only for Dr. Jose Rizal but for all Filipino people to fight or revolt against the oppression of foreign invaders. Maybe what was said that "Dr. Jose Rizal was born at the right time" is true, for the reason that he was the one who thought of taking that opportunity to flare up the revolution. The life of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal was a big part of our historic liberation as Filipinos. 3.) Yes Balubar (A07)

1. At the beginning of the 19th century, Habsburg Spain (a contemporary historiographical term meaning huge extent of territories) was at the height of it's power and cultural influence. It was also then, when military, political and economic difficulties were already being discussed in Spain. After years and years, these difficulties grew and they saw France slowly taking Spain's place in Europe's leading power during the later half of the century. It was because of many factors. These includes, decentralized political nature of Spain, inefficient taxation, a succession of weak kings, power struggles in the Spanish court and a tendency to focus on the American colonies instead of Spain's economy. All of these lead to the declined of the Habsburg rule of Spain. During the early 19th century, Spain started to experience it's greatest territorials losses. Their colonies in the Americans began to fight for their independence. Spain also lost it's colonies in the Caribbean and Pacific in 1900's. What was left to them is their African possessions. 2. Liberal has different meanings. As an adjective, Liberal means willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own or open to new idea. As a noun, Liberal means a supporter of a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy and free enterprise. For Filipinos like us, liberalism became a part of our history. It was during the last decades of the 19th century during the Spanish colonization and in the 20th century, during the American occupation. But are we, Filipinos aware that Rizal's greatest legacy to us was his liberal idea? It was his liberal ideas that brought him to his death. He shows it in his various writings his ability to spread liberal principles for his countrymen. When he was in Europe, Rizal had the chance to freely express his liberal ideas without fear of persecution or imprisonment. His vocal criticism on Spanish policy in the Philippines made him the voice of liberalism for his countrymen. 2. Rizal was born during the Spanish regime in the Philippines. He grew up and spend his entire life during this era. Growing up, I think he was able to use thoroughly what his countrymen was experiencing under the hands of the Spaniards. He saw the hardships and suffering of the Filipinos. It was because of this that made him think of revolting against the colonizers not through a bloody revolution, but through a silent and non-violent way, and that was through his writing. He started to awaken the emotions and feelings of the Filipinos. And with this, the revolution started that led to the downfall of Spain. Rizal was born at the right time. It was during the Spanish time. He was born at the right place, the Philippines. If it wasn't for him, his writings and even his death, the revolution wouldn't have started and eventually brought our independence. Yes, I can say that Jose Rizal was born at the right time and at the right place. For if not, the Philippines wouldn't be what it is today. 3. Yes Bondad (A18)

1.) In my opinion, the idea, "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." Means that it is fate that Dr. Jose Rizal was born in the Philippines and that Dr. Jose Rizal was also born at the time of the rise of liberalism. He was the instrument for us to achieve the freedom that we deserve in the past and the freedom that we have right now. So to conclude, Rizal birth is the perfect time because he is the key of opening the minds of the Filipino to fight for our freedom and to gain independence. 2.)The rise of liberalism made a huge impact on Dr. Jose Rizal, it gave him the idea for our country to gain independence, because of liberalism he realized that it is possible for our country to be independent and also because of liberalism he saw how the people desired to fight for the freedom from the unjust colonizers of the other countries and regain their own independence. This is when he was able to publish his writings "Noli me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo", the novels that exposed the spaniards unjust exploitation against our country. Dr. Jose Rizal became brave and fought for our freedom using his writings and fighting with peace and not with blood and violence. 3.)Yes. CABATAC (A07)

1. The reasons why the Spanish Empire is declining are the corruption of the colonial government, the union of the church and the state, and the unjust treatment of people in the colonies. These all happens here in the Philippines. At Rizal’s time, we were discriminated by the Spaniards in that era and the church was powerful in that time. And also, in that time, the Spanish colonies were falling down because they gained their freedom in their own country that is why they fought a war with them for their independence and they gained victory. At the time Rizal was born, the Spanish Empire lost some of its colonies including Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and others. While other colonies are going down, the Filipinos learned what happened to them. So, they think of an idea to start a revolution against them in order to gain our independence and freedom from the Spaniards. 2. From my thoughts about liberalism, it is an ideology dedicated to the individual and a society where people can pursue and realize their goals. It provided a new path for approaching morals and idealism. It also helped him to understand core aspects like equality and human rights. Jose Rizal was profoundly impacted by the rise of liberalism, which inspired him to urge that our nation declare its independence. The rise of liberalism aided him in properly expressing his ideas for the country to the Filipino people. He was able to capture in his writings the injustices that plagued the Filipinos at the time of Spanish colonization like Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. In Rizal's story, the brutality and discrimination that the Spaniards perpetrate against the unknowing Filipinos are exposed. For the Filipino people to experience a sense of freedom and independence, Jose Rizal gave us the knowledge of what liberalism is. In the end, Jose Rizal had ideals for the Philippines, but it was the rise of liberalism that allowed him to voice those ideals. 3. “Rizal was born at the right time” means that he was born in an era where the rise of liberalism and the decline of the Spanish Empire was spreading throughout the world. He would be the key to the independence and freedom of the Filipino people from Spaniards. “He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." means that he will start a revolution that will lead to the success of the Filipinos. He was the spark that ignited our nation's revolution and inspired us to fight for our freedom. He was the inspiration for our nation to stand up for its independence. By writing works like Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which describe how the Spanish Empire will fall, Dr. Jose Rizal used the chance to help the Philippines achieve freedom and to also inspire other Filipinos. In my opinion, I think that this was Rizal’s destiny for us Filipinos and to the country. 4. Yes, I did watch the entire video lecture.

1.The idea behind the statement is for the the fact that he was born in Philippines on the perfect date suggests that it was not just mere coincidence but is already fate. He was born just in time to be the instrument that would ultimately start the motive for the country's independence from the Spanish Empire. Having ideas of liberty and freedom at the young age suggests that he was already in the right path to lead the Philippines to freedom, his idea of liberalism was further fortified when he studied abroad learning different histories of other countries which took action against their colonisers. He gave the Filipinos the consciousness of what they truly deserve and the motive to start making change after being colonised by the Spanish Empire for 3 centuries. This is what makes Dr. Jose Rizal truly special. I personally couldn't think of any other person who would start the revolution which ultimately led to the Philippines independence. 2.The rise of liberalism made way for Dr. Jose Rizal to express his ideas for the Philippines through his literatures. Which expresses all his thoughts about what is happening to his motherland and his fellow Filipinos under the rule of Spanish Empire. The growing knowledge for liberalism had given Rizal the desire to pursue his urge for the independence of the Philippines. Moreover, the opportunity to study in different countries broaden his knowledge about liberalism which led to how good he was with writing. His literature works such as Noli Me Tángre, El Filibusterismo, were the fruit of his studies which was then used to express his idea of freedom and love for the motherland. He incorporated everything he has learnt ,experienced and ambitions in his works, which is why Filipinos were truly inspired and moved by him. He was truly an Icon and is one of the most important person that ever existed in the Philippines 3.Yes Meranio- (A06)

1.) I believe that Jose Rizal existed at the right place and time. First of all, at the time of Jose Rizal, the Spanish Empire was already getting weaker due to the rise of democratic and liberated form of ruling . Liberalism was the trend of the times on which the value of human rights and equality are more important, and this ideals spread across the whole of Europe like a wildfire. For example, peasants are finally being granted lands, and they need not to swear servitude to nobles. Slavery is abolished in the west. This series of events opened so many doors and inspiration for Jose Rizal, since he himself and his family are being unjustly oppressed by the Spanish regime. Furthermore, the Spanish Empire's power continuously degraded since their other colonies like Mexico, Peru, etc won their independence. Through the motivation of freedom, Jose Rizal braved Europe and steadily learned. He bided his time until he acted and saved us all. 2.) The rise of Liberalism gave Jose Rizal many thoughts on which to ponder. There are significant liberal improvements to the way of life of everyone around him when he was in Europe, and I believe that this series of events gave him ideas and inspirations. It also opened his mind on simple things like equality and human rights. I also think that it is significant to be able to express opinions and critics to the government that would not result in a violent reaction. I believe that because of the liberalistic ideals that he was exposed to, Jose Rizal realized that we Filipinos deserved more. We deserved much more than the life we are living inside our own motherland. I think that Jose Rizal was also a witness to the corruption on the Spanish government that eventually helped to end their own empire. That is why I believe that Jose Rizal abhorred corruption and he definitely wrote many literature about it. 3.) Yes Fontanilla (A06)

1) Rizal was the one who open the eyes of the filipinos to what really the spaniards were doing to our country and what hardships we haveto face everyday in their hand. The time wee all the filipinos have had enough of the cruelty and slavery that the spaniards did you us , rizal was a mere spark that lit up the spirit of the filipinos to finally act and fight for the future generations so that they will not experience what they experience in the hands of those people who turn us into a slave and me fun of us. 2)The rise greatly affect how rizal express himself through his works with this the way that his works influence the hearts of the filipino increases. Liberalism helps rizal to convey his thoughts and his message throughout thecountry and moved the hearts of the filipino which helps them gain courage and will to face the spaniards in that time. Also through this Rizal find a way to conveys those message that he wants to be shared with his fellow filioinos. With the respect and beliefs that he gain through his work resulting in more and more people to fully understand our situation in that time gives our battle with the spaniards a strong purpose , a purpose to end the misery we have been experiencing in the hands of the spaniards. 3) Yes. 1) The idea "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen” means that Rizal would be one of the ways where Filipinos will be freed from the hands of the Spaniards. Before Rizal was born, Filipinos were unfortunate victims of the Spaniards' unjust, biased, and declining power, and when Rizal was able to study abroad, he was able to develop an idea on how to free Filipinos and obtain independence by observing how other colonies fought for independence. Rizal fought a different battle, relying on his wisdom rather than force, instead using pacific methods such as writing literature, making art, and emphasizing on Filipino culture to awaken everyone's patriotic feeling. 2) The rise of liberalism give way for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines because liberalism is the perception that people should have a lot of political and individual freedom through having equal rights, the growth of liberalism allowed Rizal to express his goals for the Philippines. Since the Spaniards subjected our country to slavery and discrimination. Filipinos lack the freedom and rights to liberate. As governments throughout the world transition from monarchy to democracy, Rizal realized that the Philippines ought to do the same since more countries are paving the path to this ideal form of governance, the idea of changing the government or overthrowing the government to another form has become a more prevalent. 3) Yes - Ortiz(A01)

1. The statement “Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen” is an expression of hope for the freedom of the Philippines against the Spaniards. Rizal was born during the deterioration of the Spanish empire. He was able to study abroad and he was able to learn more about freedom and nationalism. He used his intellect to spread awareness about independence through his works that later sparked the hearts of many Filipinos to fight for our freedom. Since the Spanish empire was already declining, the works of Rizal became a big factor for the liberalism of our country. Rizal made the Filipinos realize that there is hope for the freedom of the Philippines. He instilled to the Filipinos that the independence of our country is worth fighting for. He inspired the revolution that set us free. 2. The rise of liberalism helped Rizal in making Filipinos understand clearly his ideals for our country. Rizal experienced and learned what liberalism is and it inspired him to share this knowledge to the Filipino people. His works were thoughts about the Philippines being liberated from colonization. He wanted to express his ideals in making the country free from the Spaniards. Since the idea of liberalism was already rising, Filipinos became inspired to the thought of having freedom from the Spanish regime. The works of Jose Rizal, especially Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, stimulated the minds of the Filipinos to make our country liberated. He stirred the hearts of the Filipinos to fight for our own rights and freedom. His works resulted in the revolution of the Filipinos, which finally led to the independence and democracy of the Philippines. 3.Yes, I watched the video lecture. Abdon (A01)

1. Jose Rizal did play a key role in making the revolution possible and paving the way for the independence of the Philippines. I agree that he was born at the right time, in the right place - a time when the Spanish Empire was declining, and liberalism was spreading in the West. The downfall of the Spanish Empire was a turning point in our nation's return to freedom. The Spanish colonizers were in a vulnerable state at the time, and so I think it was a great move for Rizal to publish his works, an eye-opener for Filipinos to fight for their rights. 2. Rizal studied and lived in European countries where liberalism was on the rise at the time. Having said that, his exposure to countries with these political and moral philosophies had a huge impact on Rizal's ideal of free expression against the oppressors of his beloved country. He brought liberalism with him to the Philippines through his novels which inspired the Filipinos to lead a revolution. Eventually, we were able to achieve our freedom and identity as a nation. 3. 1. As far as I understand, he was born at a period when the Spanish empire was gradually decaying and democracy and liberalism were emerging. Many developments relating to the growth of liberalism have already occurred throughout the world. As we all know, the Spanish colonies struggled for independence as well, and they obtained it in the early 1800s. With the exception of the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Rizal's knowledge was already established, as were his strategies, objectives, and aspirations for our nation; all he had to do was to lead and let Filipinos recognize what our country is capable of and what its people can achieve for it. By writing the two books Noli Me Tangere and El FIlibusterismo, he encouraged Filipinos that it was time for them to obtain independence from the Spanish invaders. The moment of his birth was favorable since he was instrumental in awakening the minds of Filipinos to the potential of independence from Spain. 2. Liberalism is the belief in freedom, equality, democracy, and human rights. Rizal was well aware that the Filipinos in the nation were in trouble due to the Spaniards' and the government's discriminatory and unjust treatment of Filipinos. As Rizal learned more about liberalism, it became a source of inspiration for him since it enabled individuals to speak for themselves and promoted equality for everyone. He became aware that his mind was cluttered with several notions about Philippine independence. When the Spanish empire fell apart owing to colonial government corruption, Rizal was able to voice his beliefs and advocacy for the Philippines. When he discovered what happened to the other colonies and how they gained their early freedom, he was captivated by them and strived and struggled hard for us to gain our freedom as well. As a fact, his best compositions were impacted by the common notion of the development of liberalism at the time. His efforts culminated in the Philippine revolution and, eventually, the country's ultimate independence. 3. Yes. -Sebastian (A07)

1. The statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen.” This means that Dr. Jose Rizal was just born at the right time when people are already coming to their senses, and all of the colonies by these powerful empires are starting to revolt against them, liberalism was also already on its way to its greater heights, it's just a coincidence that Rizal was born during this revolutionary period, that led to him being one of the catalysts that resulted into a revolution against our colonizers, that led to the freedom and independence that we now experience. Him being born just at the time when people had enough of the mistreatments and started a revolution fighting for what they believe is right and just. Now, this was not just only happening in our country but all over the world, and I guess that’s what’s makes his existence more prominent and inspiring to all. 2. The rise of liberalism all over the world is where a time people started to revolt against the monarchs and demanded that they regain their power, freedom, and independence as a nation. Maybe this is what inspired Rizal to express his thoughts and ideas and create masterpieces, that reflect his life and the life of the people under the Spanish empire. What he saw in the people is the desire to be free from the unjust treatments of the colonizers, and regain their nation back. This led Rizal not only to write his brilliant masterpieces but to also form an organization of like-minded people to further push reform and aim for independence. Despite the propaganda not succeeding, it opened a lot of people’s minds, and it helped generate political consciousness of the people, which led to people being involved a lot in the revolution and the fight for the independence that came afterward. 3. 1.) Personally, I think that the idea "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." was more of a fate than just a coincidence. Rizal was born in the rise of liberalism while the Spanish empire is slowly falling. Rizal’s death ignited the fire of the revolution against the Spanish colonization. Furthermore, neighboring countries such as Peru and Mexico regained their country against the hands of the Spaniards, which is a massive blow on the Spanish empire. This also contributed to Rizal’s knowledge about his plans and what he needed in order to create a revolution. He executed his playbook through literary works in order to inspire his fellow countrymen to fight the oppressor. Everything fell into its place when Rizal came. He wouldn’t have the right tools and knowledge of what he has if he wasn’t born at those times. 2.) Rizal’s ideals revolved around the thought of liberalism. He already had cultivated liberal ideas by heart long before the Filipino intellectuals of the 19th century Philippines adapted it during the Spanish era. His liberalism was what made him for what he is today being acclaimed as one of the greatest Filipino heroes. It was also his liberal ideas that led his life into the grave but paved the way for us to achieve our freedom. Rizal’s literary works became his tool to spread the beauty of liberal principles for his countrymen. His ideas were so captivating and powerful that touched the conscience of many Filipinos of his time. These were also the ideals and reasons that caught the attention of the Spanish authorities, not only because of that it is a threat to spark a revolution, but also because of their political values. His unrelenting criticisms about the Spanish policy in the Philippines made him the leading voice of liberalism for his countrymen. 3.) YES ENDEREZ (A06)

1.) Although the demise of the Spanish Empire started in the late 16th century, it wasn't until the 19th century that it really started to fall apart. Early in the 19th century, the empire suffered a severe setback with the loss of its American possessions, notably Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Peru. In the Spanish-American War of 1898, the empire suffered military setbacks as well, losing its last surviving territories in the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico. The Spanish Empire's dominance as a global force came to an end as a result of these events. Social and cultural changes, political unrest, military weakness, and economic decline all contributed to the fall of the Spanish Empire. Due to the exhaustion of New World wealth, other European nations began to compete and money for basic necessities became scarce. It was challenging to run the empire effectively because of corruption, bad management, and political division. The exorbitant cost of upholding a vast empire, the departure of seasoned soldiers and generals, and the inability to adopt modern military tactics and technologies were all factors in the military power's decline. The empire's coherence was eroded by social and cultural changes, which ultimately led to its demise and paved the way for the rise of new world powers. 2.) During Rizal's lifetime, liberalism was growing in the 19th century, and this gave him a platform from which to discuss his aspirations for the Philippines. He supported liberal ideas that were at their core contain ideas of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. Individual liberties, equality, and the freedom of speech and ideas are all important components of liberalism as a political theory. It emerged in the 18th century during the Age of Enlightenment as a reaction to the absolute monarchy and authoritarian governments that predominated in Europe at the time. Liberals support a social compact that safeguards people's rights and liberties together with limited government, free markets, and these three concepts. In his literary writings, Rizal expressed his liberal beliefs and criticized the Spanish Empire's repressive colonial government. His books, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, urged for social and political reforms while exposing the wrongdoing and corruption of the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines. A crucial component of liberal ideology, Rizal promoted education as a way to enlighten and empower people in his writings. 3.) In the context of Philippine history, the belief that Rizal "was born at the right time, in the right place, and would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" emphasizes the significance of Rizal's life and contributions. The Philippines was experiencing significant social and political turmoil when Rizal was born in 1861. The Spanish Empire had colonized the nation, and its citizens were fighting for freedom and independence. The young Rizal was eventually exposed to liberal ideas and progressive thinking while growing up in a family that prized education. His literary works were used to critique the harsh Spanish colonial authority and to demand social and political reforms. He rose to prominence in the Philippine nationalism movement. Other Filipino nationalists were motivated and affected by Rizal's life and works, and they ultimately took the lead in the struggle against Spanish colonial control. His words acted as a call to arms for the uprising, and the Spanish government's execution of him in 1896 inspired the nationalist cause. The First Philippine Republic was founded as a result of the revolution in 1899, and the nation gained its independence in 1946. As a result, the notion that "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place" implies that his life and work were essential to the Philippine nationalist movement and to the eventual success of the country's independence from the United States. The revolution was sparked by Rizal's thoughts and deeds, and Filipinos are still motivated by him today. 4.) YES

1. The idea per se dictates to us that Rizal was born wherein the context of the world was in the shifting of some governments to a democratic form, and the rise of liberalism was exponentially spreading throughout the world. This is the time for Rizal, who was born and studied in Europe, to stand up against the Spaniards and the priests that were depriving us and abusing our rights as Filipinos or as human beings. Whether or not he was forced to study abroad, Rizal still has the passion and love for liberalism and our nation enabling him to make a masterpiece of novels that would spark the inevitable revolution, thus gaining independence for the Philippines in the end. With Rizal who is a pacifist and the support of the courageous Filipinos who had shed blood for our independence, victory was undeniably gained due to the decline of the Spanish empire. In conclusion, with the context or situation mentioned above, Rizal was born at the right time and in the right place. 2. In the rise of liberalism, people, organizations, or nations began to work independently to gain the freedom that they rightly deserve, and some fought for the freedom that they are deprived of. The shifting of the world to become peaceful was popular in Europe where Rizal flew in to study. This concept of liberalism influenced Rizal to promote equality and human rights in order to passionately express his nationalism and patriotism for his country. Rizal began to open his eyes to the unjust systems imposed on us by the Spaniards in the Philippines. Thus, Rizal wrote the two famous novels known today, Noli Me Tángere and El filibusterismo, to indirectly fight the Spaniards in the Philippines and sparked an inevitable revolution by the KKK. The unwanted treatment by the priests and Spaniards that the Filipinos received before was described in the novels that Rizal wrote. His ideals for the Philippines in which the Filipinos should have the freedom that they rightly deserve that was expressed in his novels were highly influenced by his exposure to the rise of liberalism in Europe. 3. 1. Jose Rizal's purpose is to be born at that time and in that location because he is the key to the Philippines achieving the revolution and independence it deserves. His narrative exemplifies how he tries to carry on with his life despite the fact that circumstances in the Philippines are failing. He continues to choose to give up his life in order for the Philippines to have a bright future. The time was right for the Filipinos' hearts to open up and liberalism to keep rising. The rise of liberalism gave us Filipinos equal opportunities. A political society also begins to reclaim our own freedom with the shift from monarchy to democracy. Dr. Jose Rizal is a tool; he is the answer to the Philippines' faith and liberty, and his writings and novels have brought us peace. 2. Among liberals in the Philippines, Jose Rizal is seen as a symbol of liberty. There were several Filipinos at the time; everyone was a Spaniard or a colonist, but Jose Rizal established the Filipino ethnicity. Slavery had been abolished by Abraham Lincoln and Czar Alexander II during Rizal's time, and Dr. Jose Rizal studied in Europe to learn further about liberalism and embrace the philosophy here in the Philippines. Liberalism is a philosophical and ethical philosophy centered on personal rights, liberty, government permission, and equality before the law. He can do anything, even if it means sacrificing himself, for the cause of the independence that his fellow humans deserved. 3. Yes Saoit(A01)

1. Rizal was born on June 19, 1861, the period when liberalism had started to grow and become a popular concept throughout the globe, which explains why he was born at the right time. Rizal was born on that date, in our country known as the Philippines, wherein his time was one of the remaining colonized countries by the Spain empire, which proclaims the idea that he was born at the right place. Lastly, he was like the people that were mentioned in the video, Czar Alexander II, President Abraham Lincoln, and Benito Juarez, who signified and made actions to make liberalism a reality. He is an instrument that was chosen to ignite the hearts of the people of the Philippines and open their minds to achieve freedom and democracy, lead a revolution against the Spaniards, and claim liberalism which every Filipino has hunger and thirsted forever since the Spaniards claimed the country as their own. 2. Rizal has lived during the period of liberalism, wherein men should be treated equally, and democracy was rising as a concept. During this time, was the fall of the Spain empire, the Philippines along with Cuba and Puerto Rico, were the only remains of the Spanish colonized countries because Mexico, Argentina, and Peru had already become independent in the early 1800s due to the revolutions that they have started, and were successful in droving the Spaniards away from their land. When Rizal was sent to Spain in order to study, along with his other Ilustrados, he learned that the Spanish Colonials were getting weaker and weaker as the years passed and that liberalism was achievable in our country as well. Therefore, that became his inspiration to write his novels that have soon ignited the Filipino people to start a revolution against Spain, led by Andres Bonifacio, in order to achieve freedom and liberalization. 3. 1.) "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place" He was indeed brought up in the world in 1861 when the rise of liberalism took place. Many world leaders abolished slavery in their respective countries whether it was for their own race or not. In the case of Rizal, his birth was like a miracle or a sign that he will become a key figure in the liberation of the Philippines from the empire they belong to at that time which is of Spain. "He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" When Rizal had his own consciousness of his surroundings, he made a stand to create his works to inspire other Filipinos and to fight the oppressors. He really became an instrument in the independence of the Philippines though, he was not there to experience and look at it firsthand. It was as if at Rizal's prime, he made his own rise of liberalism in the Philippines. 2.) The rise of liberalism was for democracy to be the type of government that would practice equal rights of men and women, may it be a different race or not, and abolish slavery. The period of liberalism in the west where they abolished the serfdom system and black slaveries gave way for Rizal's ideals to be expressed since his own ideals align with their ideas of liberalism. Rizal wanted to reform the treatment of Spaniards towards Filipinos. During the period of liberalism, the Spanish colony began to decline as they gradually experience defeat from the revolutions of the countries they once had their hands on. It gives an advantage for his work to inspire his fellow Filipinos to revolt against the cruelty and injustices of the Spaniards and give them an idea that they can have independence like how the others obtain their liberty. 3.) 1. The Philippines before Jose Rizal was born was very different from what it is now today and the idea that having Jose Rizal was born at the right time and at the right place and served as the instrument that made the revolution and independence of the Philippines is a thought that occurs to a lot of people because if there was no one like Jose Rizal at the time that Spaniards conquered the Philippines, and if Jose Rizal were not born in the Philippines, the reality in our country would definitely be so much different than it is now today. Jose Rizal is considered born at the time when Filipinos needs a hero that can remove the shackles that keep our people from the freedom he was born here in the Philippines as a Filipino and served as the instrument that made independence, freedom, and revolution in the Philippines and sometimes being there in times that matters really changed a lot of things. Jose Rizal was born as the Spaniards starts declining and the rest is history. 2. Jose Rizal has always had a vision and ideals for our country, he had lived and experienced a very different life than what we have now today and as liberalism rise, he had the opportunity to express his ideas for our country. Due to the decline of the Spanish empire and having Liberalism rise at the same time that promotes freedom for everyone, democracy, and equal rights just like today, Jose Rizal had the opportunity to study and learn different things overseas and see the Philippines differently; he used his knowledge that he learned from every place that he went to and made sure that his intentions for our country is clear and these ideals created a catalyst that liberated the Filipino people to think differently and the rise of liberalism. In conclusion, although Jose Rizal has ideals for the Philippines, it was the rise of liberalism that made it possible for him to express his ideals for the Philippines. 3. yes Maghirang (A01)

1. The idea that "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place" was brought up perhaps because the Spanish empire was already failing at keeping their colonies intact, and Rizal was the seed that continued to grow, in which the revolution awaited. When Rizal was born, the concept of democracy and liberalism was already evident in Western and European countries. Countries like Mexico and Peru were the ones who have gained independence from the Spaniards because of these concepts. It was only about time that the Philippines followed the steps to independence of the other Spanish colonies like these countries, and Rizal’s works became the fuel for it. Rizal questioned and criticized the treatment of the Spanish government to the Filipino people and eventually inspired the people - specifically Andres Bonifacio, to revolt against the Spaniards. It was like the Revolution for Philippine Independence was waiting for Rizal’s bravery and intelligence. 2. The rise of liberalism in the Western and European countries enabled Rizal to freely write or express his opinions regarding the Spanish government. Since Rizal studied and lived in European countries like Berlin, he had the courage to dissent against the Spanish government since liberalism is not taboo in European countries. He brought liberalism with him to the Philippines in a sense that liberalism or liberal change was the subject in most of his works like Noli Me Tangere. His works tackle changes in policies in the government - specifically liberal changes, which inspired the Filipinos to revolt. Though his liberal way of thinking has pushed not only himself but countless Filipinos as well to sacrifice their own life for freedom, their sacrifices did not go in vain since it led to Philippine independence. His “liberal ideas” exhibited through his works made him what he is today, and has shaped our modern laws in the Philippines as well. 3. Yes, I did. GARCIA (A01)

1.) Rizal was born at the right time; when he was born the world seemed to be in a transition state where empires started to wither down and liberalism started to rise. He was born at the time when people started realizing the concept of democracy, equality and human rights. When people have started rising up against corrupt leaders and the system of government. Rizal was born at the right time for him to realize all of these, and at the right place for him to act on it. He was born to be an instrument to make the revolution in the Philippines happen. It was the right time as the Philippines was being colonized but at the same time, its colonizers were falling apart, which gave more reason and realization that we could get our independence and live freely apart from the Spanish empire. He learned much from what was happening around the world and applied these to his country where he was able to give way to the independence of his country and unite the nation he belonged to. 2.) The rise of liberalism gave way for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines by first learning the concept of democracy, equality of men, and human rights that was being popularized in other nations. The rise of democracy gave way to a transition in the world from monarchy to democracy. It made kings give up their power to non-royal blooded people. There were abolishment of serfdom system in Russian empire and abolishment of slavery in America. These events that relate to the rise of liberalism give rise to ideas that are ideal for the nation. These movements allowed Rizal to learn that the corrupt system of governing could be changed to something where people are given a voice and our own nation to be given to us. The rise of liberalism also was the start of the decay of the Spanish empire, which proves to show that the current system and colonizers at that time could be overthrown and we could gain our independence. The rise of liberalism allowed Rizal to write and show our nation that we could do something, to revolt and fight for our independence as a nation. 3.) Yes Pomperada (A06)

1.It is said that Jose Rizal was born at the perfect time and in an ideal location because he was one of the most important factors in our country's independence from the Spanish Empire. Rizal, through his novels and writings, fought for the rights of his fellow Filipinos in the world. Our fellow citizens learn from his novels that we Filipinos are the true owners of our motherland, not the Spaniards. On the basis of his words, I can't help but believe that Dr. Jose Rizal was destined for greatness in his lifetime. I also believe that Dr. Jose Rizal is truly our national hero because, as was stated in the previous lecture, the national hero should be a pacifist, which Dr. Rizal is. Knowing that Dr. Jose Rizal used his writings to spark a movement and that he was born at the right time, we can confidently proclaim him to be our national hero and national hero of the Philippines. 2.Liberalism is becoming increasingly popular during Dr. Jose Rizal's time. Europeans began to embrace democracy and the concept of human rights began to spread throughout the continent and the rest of the world. Abraham Lincoln ended the slave trade, and Czar Alexander II ended serfdom throughout the Russian Empire, allowing farmers to own their own land for the first time. As a result of his upbringing, Rizal naturally develops a strong affinity for liberalism and wishes to see it spread throughout the Philippines. Having studied in Europe, he was inspired and was able to bring liberalism to the Philippines. He used many different ways to show how he thought the Philippines should be, but he didn't use violence. Instead, he used the pen and paper. These include founding the La Liga Filipina and, most significantly, writing the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which have woken his fellow Filipino and laid the groundwork for the Philippines' liberalism and democracy. 3.YES MORFE(A01)

1) In my perspective on this idea, Rizal is the key to making the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen. He stands on freedom, knowing that He said violent revolution is impossible, absurd, and horrible and that Rizal has always opposed, battled, and stated that it is impossible, unreasonable, and destructive. Because reforms "from below" are "violent and temporary upheavals," he highlighted that changes must "also come from above." However, he also did highlight that he, like every other Filipino, wished for our country's independence and that education and hard work might help the Filipino people earn that liberty. "What is the purpose of independence if the slaves of today will be the dictators of tomorrow?" Rizal asked elsewhere. They will, without a doubt, for whoever submits to tyranny enjoys it!" "The gift of reason with which we are blessed must be illuminated and employed," according to Rizal, to conquer ignorance, which leads to enslavement. 2) Rizal's talent to write became his weapon for spreading the beauty of liberal values among his compatriots, particularly among the passel of intellectuals of the day. Many ordinary people of his day were moved by his thoughts because they were compelling and fascinating. These were the concepts that drew the attention of Spanish authorities, not only because of their patriotic sentiments but also because of their political principles, which ran against the Spanish government's conservative policies in the Philippines. Education Gives Luster to Motherland, a poem composed in 1875 by Rizal, is a stunning example of his early work criticizing Spanish policies. This poem demonstrated his propensity for promoting the value of education to the nation. It was in direct opposition to the Spanish government's unspoken policy of restricting education to just a few aristocratic families in the Philippines. The Spanish authorities discouraged indigenous from pursuing formal education for fear that they might use their knowledge to undermine the status quo. Rizal urged the Filipino youth of his day to develop their abilities and reason to thrive in the realms of arts and science in his winning poem To the Filipino Youth. It is objective evidence that Rizal believed in the Filipino youth's potential to apply reason to achieve their human flourishing and independence. A detailed examination of the evolution of liberalism in the Philippines will reveal how it influenced Rizal's thinking and the plethora of circumstances that contributed to his solid political conviction. It all began with the Enlightenment movement, which arose in Western Europe between the mid-seventeenth and early-eighteenth centuries. 3) Yes (OLAES, A07)

1) The idea refers on how Jose Rizal's uprising can be mostly attributed by rise of liberalism and the revolution of several countries against our past colonizers during that time period. By the time of his birth, most countries under the old Spanish Empire have already achieve their goal of independence and with that knowledge, perhaps Jose Rizal at his early days saw a glimmer of hope for our country which in turn made him to what he was known for, our national hero. The people around him at the time of the Spanish Era were treated poorly and under those unfair treatment, they also want to fight for the same goal of freedom and independence. Additionally, he wants to prove that we Filipinos can achieve greatness despite being called "indios" and he inspired a lot of people by his intelligence and literary works, enough to set ablaze the revolution itself. All those things aligned, he becomes the perfect "instrument" that made the independence of the Philippines possible. 2) Liberalism open up ideas to human rights, democracy, equality and liberty. Big changes from different countries such as the change of monarchy to democracy and giving a chance to people to choose their government rulers. Freedom of land ownership for farmers, and even the freedom of slaves. These concepts opens up a a lot of opportunity and hope for Jose Rizal to show through his famous literary works such as Noli Me Tangere and Elfilibusterismo these concepts to our country itself. With his actions, it ignited even further the nationalism and the longing strive for freedom of the Filipino people which eventually resulted to the independence of our country which is now , up to this day still being studied and learned. 1. Based on Sir E's video lecture, there are a few probable reasons on why the Spanish Empire declined. The Spanish government back then had a lot of corruption, and so it had affected them negatively that led to weakening of their government. In comparison to other empires, the Spanish Empire had a union of the church and state. This reason means that the church is given the power and authority to be involved in state matters. The problem here is from the novels of Dr. Jose Rizal we have learned how inhuman those Spanish Priests are. In connection to that, they have done a lot of mistreatment to their colonies. An example is they called us Filipinos, "indios" which means barbaric. This became a good reason for Filipinos to stand up since they were looked down upon. At the same time, liberalism was rising so the colonies were hearing stories about the other colonies that are achieving independence and it became a motivation. 2. Liberalism is a philosophy centered around an individual's rights, freedom, and liberty. The rise of liberalism is the right time for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines because the word of liberalism was already spreading across the world and the Filipinos needed someone to help them understand it. Rizal studied and lived in Europe, so he was given an opportunity to live a life with a touch of liberalism. This helped Rizal share his ideals for the country since he truly knows what liberalism means. He wanted to expose the Spanish government and just spread awareness. The rise of liberalism was an opportunity for Rizal to awaken the minds of the silenced Filipinos and ignite a fire on the hearts of every individual. Rizal loved our country, considering that we were under a colonizer back then, he did not abandon us and used the concept of liberalism to his works and helped us fight for independence. 3. Rizal was born during the rise of liberalism, so there were several special world events happening internationally. Many countries have already achieved their independence over the colonizers. An example will be the Mexico, Argentina, and Peru whom all achieved independence in the early 1800s. By the time Jose Rizal was born, it was the perfect timing since the whole world is already changing and the country needed someone to pull the trigger, and it was the enlightenment of the Filipinos about the true intent of the Spanish people, and how they were mistreating us. After the publishing of Rizal's works, it spread like a wildfire and sparked a revolution. Another reason why the time is ripe is because the Spanish Empire has already gone weak, by the time Rizal was born there were only three colonies left. Hence, Rizal was born just in time to enflame the hearts of the Filipinos and make them realize who the true enemy is. 4. YES RIVERA (A18)

It means that Rizal is a blessing in disguise for our country. Not all of us are the same as Rizal or maybe some of us, but not during his lifetime. When he was growing up for sure he did not mean to start a war but as he realizes and gave it a thought, he knows that is it time to end the wrong doings. He was also smart enough to write books instead of making a violence. It is just terrible that his life end up so early and he did not witness the freedom and independence that the Filipinos deserve and wanted to achieve for so long. By being an instrument that would make the revolution, for me it means that this starts with yourself. If you want to make a difference, be the one, be the first one to change that would inspire other people for the better of our country and our lives. The rise of liberalism gave way or gave Rizal a belief of being conscious to his surroundings that would result of expressing his sentiments to the country, I think it is a sign or more than a sign that his ideals for the nation is serious and he needs to make a move and a stand. Because as the time goes by, somehow the culture is changing too. The old ways are now not acceptable, maybe not realistic and this needs to be changed. For example some things back in the old days that has to do with declining or rejecting certain people, this thoughts currently were not acceptable because you can be called racist, misogynist, or homophobic which is not right and it will only give negativity which bad for the mental health of the people. So as Rizal express his ideals, he meant to change because life is not good and the citizens of the country continuously suffering. Yes LEBRUDO, A07

1.) It is said that Rizal was born at the right time because in the early 1800s, the rise of liberalism and the decline of the Spanish empire took place. Liberalism has been applied to some countries in Europe where the kings and queens lend their powers to govern to non-royal blooded people in the Parliament. It is an adaptation of monarchy to democratic system of government. Also, at those early years of 1800s, Spanish colonies have started a revolution against the Spanish government and has been successfully regained their freedom. Knowing these events that happened few years before the birth of Rizal, it can be assumed that it is the right time because the ideology of having a democratic system and regaining our own country's freedom has been established which Rizal understands more when he came to Europe. Rizal became an instrument that made the revolution possible because he uses his knowledge about liberalism in his works which later on open the eyes of the Filipinos for the idea of regaining our independence against the Spanish empire. 2,) The rise of liberalism across the world made an impact to Rizal's ideology. It gave him hope for our country's independence. Having a liberalism in nation also means applying a free and fair elections, rule of law and protected civil liberties. With Dr. Jose Rizal's desire to achieve it for our country, he applied it in his works so that the Filipinos may also have an idea about the events that was happening in other nations across the globe. He realized that with the concept of liberalism, it could be possible for our country to be free from being a Spanish colony. It was really needed at that time because the Spanish government is getting worse by having their unjust treatment of people and corruption. The independence of our country would not be possible without the knowledge that the Filipinos have gained from Rizal at that time. Also, without liberalism, it is possible that we are not in a democratic type of government until now. (Dela Cruz, A01)

This gave his fellow Filipinos the courage to express themselves and share their opinions. Liberalism was possible because the Spanish empire was already in the brinks of collapse. With Rizal’s works this allows the Filipino’s to be able to read the works of Rizal and to realize that a revolution was possible. 3.) Yes Librea (A06)

1) While Liberalism was spreading in the West, the decline of the Spanish empire worsened. In the video, it stated that the probable reasons why this happened were because of the Corruption of the colonial government, the union of church and state, and the unjust treatment of people in the colonies. The harsh exploitation and persecution of indigenous peoples, African slaves, and other oppressed populations in the colonies was a known action of the Spanish colonial system. To keep their hold on the colonies, the Spanish used ruthless repression, forced labor, and the plunder of lands and resources. The colonized peoples became deeply resentful and rebellious as a result of the Spanish authorities' abuse, which resulted in violence and additional persecution. Political unrest and internal strife also frequently plagued Spain's monarchy. As a result, the empire found it challenging to keep up a consistent political and military plan as a result. Some Spanish colonies like Mexico, Argentina, Peru, etc., fought for their independence against Spain in the early 1800s. Other natives have learned of what happened and they have also started having thoughts of their revolution as well. 2) Liberalism is a political and social philosophy that advocates for an individual's independence, civil rights, democracy, and sovereignty. With the emergence of this advocacy at that time, Doctor Jose Rizal was able to express his thoughts and ideas through his works. As a result, he was able to create his famous work, Noli me Tangere where he fearlessly exposed the corruption that the Spaniards were inflicting on the Filipino people. Aside from that, Dr. Rizal was further motivated by the growth of liberalism to write his memoirs and share them with his fellow Filipinos in an effort to help them understand the repercussions of the physical abuse that Spaniards imposed on the people that they refer to as "Indio". Democracy and rights were sought after, which inspired Rizal to write his literacy pieces. Through this, He was able to give us the independence that we so well deserve as a result of his war through his words and his determination to seize the chance to write at that time. 3) This idea is a great way to impose the right timing on how the birth of Rizal and the decline of the Spanish empire became the gateway to our independence. It is a timely manner on how Rizal became our key for the revolution because of this advantage that we uphold with the worsening internal strife in the Spanish empire. Filipinos were convinced during the Spanish colonization that the Spaniards were not there to make friends with us or conduct business with us, but rather that they were there to colonize us in the same way that they had colonized the other countries before, and that everyone was just waiting for someone to push them and give them the inspiration to act and fight. He was in the right place because where he was born his experiences and contacts with the local culture and society would form his opinions and understanding of the problems facing the nation. Also, liberalism's rise was escalating at the time. It aided Rizal in expressing his ideas and the brutal reality of the state of our country. For me, that was the purpose and destiny of Rizal, to serve as the trigger for the Philippines Revolution and its eventual Independence. 4.) YES (BENJAMIN, A18)

1. The statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" is a good description of how everything fell into place for him to fill the role of a hero in when our country was in the hands of an oppressor. As stated in the lecture, he was born when there was a lot of uprisings happening all around the world so this means that even other countries experienced corrupt leaders and conquerors which oppressed their people. He grew up with immense love for his country, good education with regards to what is needed to be done to share nationalism, and the Spanish empire as an oppressor that needed to be defeated in order to gain back the Philippines' freedom. 2. As the shift of government from monarchy to democracy is happening throughout the world, this gave Rizal the idea that there is a need for it to happen in the Philippines as well mostly due to him seeing how the Spanish government is corrupt and how they treated the Filipino people harshly. The idea of overthrowing the government or rather shifting the government to another form became a more familiar idea due to more and more countries are paving way to this ideal form of government. 3. 1. “Everything happens for a reason” is a famous quote that almost everybody knows about. Jose Rizal, who was born at the time of the declination of the Spanish empire, had been given a chance to study abroad and learn about how the other countries freed themselves from the Spanish reign. As education is strictly controlled by the Spaniards in the Philippines, Rizal learned useful knowledge that was being taught in foreign universities that otherwise would not be taught in our country. Rizal, a Filipino who loves his country and is a knowledgeable writer, became an instrument for our fellow countrymen to learn about the revolution that had happened in the other countries. Through Rizal’s writings, Filipinos learned that they are one big country and fought for the Philippine freedom. As I said before, everything happens for a reason. In Rizal’s case, he was born in the Philippines at the right time to become an instrument that will free the country from the Spaniards and give independence to the Philippines. 2. Rizal studied abroad to further pursue his studies in medicine. This does not only help him learn more about his profession, but he also learned about the rise of liberalism. During the rise of liberalism, different behavior and opinions are being respected and individual rights are being taken into consideration. This had help Rizal to express the ideas that he wants to convey. Through his writing, he was able to write the social ills of the Philippine society during the Spanish colonial era. He can freely write novels that were filtered for the Spanish to think that it was just a mere simple novel. These novels, which are translated into Tagalog for the Filipinos to understand, had become their guide to freedom. The exposure to the abuse and inequality that the Spanish are showing to the unaware Filipinos are all written in Rizal's novel. Rizal was able to utilize liberalism and find a way to convey his ideas to the Filipinos and the Philippines. 3. Yes. Hernandez (A07)

The idea “Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen” mean that he was destined to be born at the time when the Spanish were colonizing our country. It is like he is fated to be a key to freeing the brave soul of Filipinos at that time to fight for their rights as one against the conquerors. As sir E had discussed in the video, at that time when he was born and conquering was on a rampage around the world, liberalism around the world started to rise; that is why in my perspective, I think one of the reasons why Rizal grew as liberalist because as times goes by especially when he flew to different countries he has witnessed the injustice doings of the conquerors which gave him reasons to make his novels to help Filipinos to ignite their love for the country. The rise of liberalism gave Dr. Jose Rizal awareness to spread and express his ideals for the Philippines in his novels, where his agenda was to awaken the Filipinos that it is time for everyone to be aware like him, how liberalism arose in other countries and how they have fought for their freedom and rights. He made Filipinos visualize how he perceives our homeland as a free country and Filipinos having the equality and freedom they deserve, where the conqueror’s wrongdoings must be put to an end as it is unjust and inhumane. He gave courage to Filipinos to embrace the nationalism that made them eager to have the taste freedom. Rizal took a significant part on the rise and left remarkable works aside from his novels were his famous quotes. Rizal might be dead, but his work and words have remained alive and had been consistently passed through every generation to inspire and never lose the nationalism and the idea of liberalism in us. 1) The existence of Rizal in this moment of time in Philippine history rippled to the independence we are enjoying today. He was a crucial instrument in determining the future this country would hold. Without him existing through the timeline of revolution, the people he inspired would not be just as motivated and passionate about defending their mainland. Minds like Andres Bonifacio's would not be able to further convince his brethren to form an allegiance to wage insurgency against those Spanish colonizers who only did nothing but degradation to the citizens of their colony. Rizal's existence spawned these works of literature that not only engaged the Filipinos into critical thinking, but also exposed and opened their eyes to the oppression the Spaniards had done over the past centuries. The timing was impeccable because somehow it signified the start of a new era of the Philippines. An era of freedom and democracy. 2) The rise of liberalism opened doors for a new way of approaching ideals and morality. Liberalism highlights willingness and openness to other opinions. It also promotes the idea of one's rights, freedom, and democracy. A foreign concept it was indeed, but Rizal was able to introduce this to his fellow countrymen and he knew that this is what country exactly needs for that time. Being fortunate enough to study abroad, Rizal's exposure to other countries led him into understanding their ideals and cultures. He also observed what worked for them and what didn't. During his stay, he realized that his home lacks democracy and rights that would lead them into a better situation. That is why through his works he introduced and made the Filipinos realize that the idea of liberalism and how the Philippines lacked it. 3) Yes Jakosalem A31

1.) The statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." were right since Jose Rizal is the one who gives inspiration to Filipinos that lead to a revolution to claim the independence. He was born on the right time because there are only a few countries that haven't been claim their independence that time and Rizal make it happen through his works making him the instrument to inspired other fellow Filipinos. Jose Rizal was born in the right place since Philippines back then were one of the few countries that is under in Spanish Empire and it was the right timing to have a hero that will help the citizens of Philippines to claim their independence. Our hero Jose Rizal was destined to inspired many Filipinos and people around the world for the Philippines to become independent. 2.) Jose Rizal study in other country in his time and I think this is one factor that makes Rizal open to a lot of ideas connecting it to his own home country, I think he observed meticulously and express this in his works. His works resembles the characters and government that is has the same situation in the Philippines that time. Jose Rizal maybe realizes that his ideas should be published so people would understand more on what situation they are in. His works are full of truths that make the Filipinos realize that they do not deserve how the Spaniards governs them. I think Filipinos who read his works become inspired and realizes that they should take action so they were ready to fight for the independence of the Philippines. Liberalism is commonly seen in most of the countries and I think this is right since this brought hope to the people. LARINO, A06

1.) The reasons for the decline of the Spanish Empire are the conquered countries already are learning to fight for their freedom and have the right in their country as they experience unjust treatment. Independence is what they want and slowly as the wars continue, countries were able to succeed and freed themselves from the Spanish Empire. One of the probable reasons for the decline of the Spanish Empire is also the corruption of their government, they were not able to manage everything well that led to the downfall of their empire. As they focused on expanding their territory, they were not able to see that their conquered countries were already having an idea to fight back, the thought about having a revolution suddenly spread and an eye opener for them to finally execute a plan on getting the land that they really own. Cruelty will really push anyone to make a decision on defending themselves and use their rights to live peacefully in their own country. 2.) Liberal means an openness to having freedom and an encouragement of fighting for an individual’s right; democracy. The rise of liberalism helped Rizal to have an idea of fighting for the Filipino’s right during that time, as someone who is Ilustrado, which means he was able to be educated, and also someone who study abroad, he was able to see and knew about how other countries were able to freed their land from the Spanish Empire. By writing, he was able to spread awareness of how liberalism works, by being brave in expressing his thoughts about how the Spaniards led the country with cruelty and unjust treatment. He was able to use his knowledge and intelligence on writing what was happening during that time. He really has the heart for his birth land and managed to finish all of his writings to be able to let the Filipinos know that we have the right to independence. 3.) Rizal was born in the period of liberalism. Rizal is an educated person who was able to express the true meaning of Liberalism, that will be a way for them to have the freedom from the conquerors. He was knowledgeable enough to write novels that reflected the cruelty of the Spaniards during that time. With the knowledge that he has, from what he saw how free the other country was, he was the instrument to open the eyes of the Filipinos that we have the right to lead our own country, it is possible for us to lead this country. Rizal, being a Filipino, who was born during the period of liberalism and an Ilustrado makes him to be the instrument of the Philippines to make a move on how we will be able to get our territory from the conquerors. He is the inspiration of Philippine Independence, he knows that he might sacrifice his life if he continues to write against the Spaniards but still, with the love in this country, he continues. 4.) 1. In my own opinion, the idea of “Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen” is he has the characteristics of what the Philippines needed at that moment. He was born when the Spanish empire was declined. Spain lost all of its territories in that time. The Philippines are fully aware of what is happening in the other Spanish colonies. The Philippines began to revolt but there is no one who will start it then Rizal came to open the minds of the Filipino by his writings and novels. The birth of Jose Rizal is the perfect timing because at that time the Spanish are falling apart and it was easy to be free at the hands of the Spaniards. 2. Democracy is the main idea behind the rise of Liberalism. It has the concepts of equality of men and human rights. Kings gave up their powers to govern non-royal-blooded people in the Parliament and even changed from monarchy to democracy. These happenings make Rizal identify and learn what will happen if the government changed where people are given a voice to stand. The rise of liberalism gave Rizal the idea that we could revolt and fight for our independence and have our freedom. 3. YES DATAY (A06)

1. Rizal is a ray of hope for people who have been suffering for a long time from experiencing tragic life and have given up hope. The most likely causes were that there was systemic corruption throughout the colonial period in our country, the Philippines. Also, there was meant to be a barrier between the church and the state, but during Rizal's time, because of the unity of the church and the state, the church appeared to be more powerful than those who ran the state. Another factor is the colonists' unfair treatment of the people. All throughout video lecture, there was an example of how unjust the treatment is to the Filipinos where we Filipinos were thought to be indios, which is a deregulatory language or the word "dumb" or whatever we call it. In conclusion, the reason why the Spanish empire started declining is because of corruption of the government, union of church and state, and unjust treatment. 2. Liberalism is simply the acceptance of many perspectives, ideas, and points of view. In light of this, the majority of people in all other nations favor democratic governments because they provide a better and more egalitarian treatment for all members of society. Doctor Jose Rizal was allowed to share his thoughts and beliefs due to the advent of liberalism at the time, provided he was born at the correct period. As a result, Jose Rizal was able to publish his first book, Noli Me Tangere, in which he highlighted the corruption the Spanish were doing against the Filipinos. The timing was opportune to awaken the minds of the Filipino people in order to organize a revolt against Spain for the liberation of the country, and Dr. Jose Rizal was instrumental in making this happen as he served as the ignition or spark that lit the path to our nation's independence. His efforts resulted in the Philippine revolution and the final independence of the country. 3. There were numerous people and groups working toward independence over many years, and there were many victories and defeats along the way. We owe it all to the fact that Dr. Jose Rizal was born here in the Philippines; he has been the catalyst for change that will ultimately lead to full independence for the Philippines. In the year of Rizal's birth , the Spanish empire was already in decline. Their strength has begun to wane, and they are unable to maintain it in the same manner as previously. He comes from a financially secure background and hence is able to pursue his education in another country. He was endowed with skill and intelligence, both of which he put into comprehending the predicament in which his country found itself. His education gradually awoke him to the notion of freedom, and he came to appreciate the value of democracy. 4. YES MOSTIZO, A18

Quicay (A01) 1. For me, the idea "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place." is pertaining that Jose Rizal was born at the moment that the Spanish Empire was starting to decline. In line with this, not only Jose Rizal was born during the decline of the Spanish Empire but also he was born during the rise of liberalism. With the decline of the Spanish Empire and with the efforts of Jose Rizal, the Spanish Government in the Philippines crumbled and eventually left the Philippines. In the line, "He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen.", Jose Rizal became the instrument to open the eyes of the Filipinos and gave hope that we can achieve freedom from the hands of the oppressors. I think that it was fate that Jose Rizal was born in the Philippines during the time of the decline of the Spanish Empire. 2. I think not only Jose Rizal was a great writer, but also became one of the providers of liberalism in the Philippines. When Jose Rizal learned about liberalism, his ideals such as his virtue and knowledge were expressed in the form of writing which he gave or passed down to the Filipinos. Jose Rizal’s writings were filled with the ideals of liberalism and spread throughout the Philippines. It became his tool not only an inspiration for the Filipinos but also to expose the wrongdoings of the Spaniards. Jose Rizal helped us to know what liberalism is so that the Filipinos will have an idea of freedom and independence. It helped us to protect not only ourselves but also our country from oppressors. Rizal was just one of many Filipino leaders who battled for independence, though, and the uprising and independence of the Philippines were the results of the combined efforts of several people and organizations over a protracted period of time. Many Filipinos were motivated to join the nationalist cause by Rizal's writings and teachings, while other leaders like Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo were also instrumental in planning and directing the uprising against Spanish colonial control. He supported the acknowledgement of individual rights and liberties, the value of education, and the pursuit of knowledge. In addition, Rizal supported national self-determination and advocated for the Philippines' right to self-government. Rizal articulated his liberal principles and denounced the excesses and injustices of the Spanish colonial administration in his two books, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," in particular. He also advocated for changes to Philippine society, including bettering education, eliminating corruption, and recognizing the rights of the Filipino people. Many Filipinos joined the nationalist movement and fought against colonial rule as a result of Rizal's liberal ideas. Several Filipino leaders who carried on the fight for Philippine independence following Rizal's execution were also affected by his writings and beliefs, including Andres. 1.) There were several reason on why the Spanish Empire has declined. First, the Spanish Empire's economy was falling due to corruption and high taxation. This was one of the main reason on why the Spanish Empire was declining. Furthermore, the Political Instability of the Spanish Empire was also a factor in its decline. Generally the power often struggles between the monarchy, the church and other factions, this instability gave them difficulty to push for changes and strategies that would save the empire's standing. Moreover, due to inequality and poverty the people of Spain was dissatisfied by the way they were treated by the Spanish government, the Spanish government faced several challenges from other global powers. In conclusion, the Spanish had a difficult time to maintain and control of the colonies including the Philippines. These are the factors that contributed that led to the decline of the Spanish Empire during Rizal's Era. 2.) Liberalism is a belief that people should have the freedom to do whatever they want as long as it does not harm the others, In addition it also emphasizes the significance of equality, fairness and the rule of law. During the 19th century, the rise of liberalism in the Philippines gave opputunities to the Filipinos, liberalism created an environment that allowed for the expression of new ideas and changes. Rizal used his writings and advocacy for reform to express his ideals for the Philippines. His works, Noli Me tangere and El Filibusterismo, were instrumental in inspiring Filipinos to question and resist the abuses of the Spanish goverment and the church. He believed that education was key to freeing the Filipino people from colonial rule and worked towards promoting education and enlightenment. The emergence of liberalism in Rizal's era provided a foundation for his nationalist principles and encouraged Filipinos to work together to achieve liberation from Spain. 3.) He is a propaganda and is known for fighting the Spanish government by exposing his writing and the sadistic manipulation of the Spanish government in the Philippines. He chose a war of silence over a bloody war because he believed that this was the only way to gain freedom and that having this freedom made a difference to the country and he would be the tool through which the revolution and independence of the Philippines would be brought to fruition. This is done to realize the relevance of Rizal's ideas and views and his lessons and life values to the current situations in society. That’s why rizal was born in the right time and in the right place. Rizal reflects the most profound ideas of Filipino as a people and as a country, and he is regarded as their national hero. In his pursuit of truth, justice, and civic virtue, Rizal was driven to detest and expose the excesses of colonialism, which resulted in his arrest and subsequent death. Jose Rizal immediately established himself as the most effective propagandist. After the French Revolution, liberalism began to expand fast across the world. Liberal administrations were founded across Europe, South America, and North America throughout the 19th century. Depending on how liberals interpret these principles, they hold various positions. However, they generally support individual rights, such as civil liberties and human rights, liberal democracy, secularism, the rule of law, economic and political freedoms, free speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of belief.

1. In my opinion, the statement explains that Dr. Jose Rizal is a missing puzzle piece born to fill the void that resides in the soul of the Filipino nation. Before Dr. Jose Rizal was born, our country had already been colonized by the Spanish for hundreds of years. Only a few dared to resist tyranny because most Filipinos had no idea of independence and equal rights through the years. We are, in fact, a slave to our very own country. Filipinos were prohibited from knowing the truth, and our rights were taken away from us. Other countries, mostly Western, that were colonized already gained their independence which caused the Spanish empire to slowly decline. Despite the situation, small countries like the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico were still under the rule of the Spanish empire. But eventually, people in our country, as well as Cuba, slowly learned what happened to the other Spanish colonies. Then, Dr. Jose Rizal was born. Our country is indeed lucky he was born when the idea of liberalism was already rising, and the Spanish empire was already vulnerable. When he was exposed to the idea of liberalism and democracy, he acted as the bridge that connected the Filipino nation and independence. He further opened the eyes of many through his works and inspired them through his ideals. In the most perfect and needed time, he further encouraged the Filipino spirit to reclaim what was originally ours, independence and our homeland. 2. The rise of liberalism was such a remarkable event in the world’s history. It was when the people started to learn the concept of individual freedoms, equality of men, and upholding of human rights. Some countries switched their government from monarchy to democracy as it was a popular idea during that time. This particular event gave Dr. Jose Rizal a way to creatively express his aspirations for the country. He was very much aware of what our country lacks and what our country needs. He knows how severely mistreated Filipinos were in our very own country. So when the practice of liberalism was already favored in some countries, he conveyed the idea and turned it into something that would help the nation. The rise of liberalism enlightened him about what the Philippines could have become if only we were independent, and if the power to rule was taken back from the Spanish empire. With this, he created novels that made the Filipino nation realize what has been taken away from us-our rights. Eventually, we Filipinos learned to stand for ourselves and claim what was originally ours. We learned that we are entitled to be an independent nation and create our own unique identity. 1. The arguments given in the RU-vid video for the decline of the Spanish empire are all correct. The causes demonstrate weaknesses in all national characteristics. The battles show how people are battling for supremacy and good standing in order to overcome their flaws. The higher you go the longer the fall. The Spanish Empire began as a sizable country in the 1790s, but after a century, in 1898, it shrank to include just the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Spain's empire lost its colonies as a result of Jose Rizal's brilliance. Rizal's views reflect the perspective of a particular individual and the specific circumstances of the Philippines. Whereas, Rizal bemoaned the Spanish government's reluctance to support Philippine economic development. He thought that rather than promoting sustainable economic growth, Spain was more concerned with exploiting the colony's resources. Another fact, the decline of the Spanish empire encompassed a broader range of factors that affected not only the Philippines but also other territories under Spanish rule. 2. The rights of 23 million Russian farmers who adhered to the serfdom system are the best illustration of a liberal society. While those who work the land for the landowners receive a third of the produce. Rizal had a favorable intellectual and philosophical setting to convey his goals for the Philippines because to the advent of liberalism. It provided him with the opportunity to express himself freely, provided a framework for promoting individual rights, nationalism, development, and change, and put an emphasis on enlightenment and education. As a result of Rizal's adherence to liberal principles, the larger Philippine independence movement was influenced by his vision of a more just, equitable, and independent Philippines. 3. "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." In my perspective, being colonized by other nations for 333 years has had a significant impact on what Jose Rizal accomplished. This sentence fits him perfectly; Rizal became an eye-opener for Filipinos born during that difficult period. Jose Rizal gave the Philippines an identity, just like any other country. Furthermore, the statement "in the right place" I would surely say, people would do the same if their country is in chaos due to the actions of other countries. To the point where the objective is to seize the wealth that the Philippines possesses. 4. Yes Esperanza, B43

The corruption and unjust treatment of people became so prevalent such that we Filipinos noticed everything they did and decided not to tolerate them anymore. The union of the church helped the decline of the Spanish empire in the sense that in some cases, the church was more powerful that those of people in position. 2.) Liberal is the acceptance or the supporting of the idea of freedom and individual rights. It helped Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines because at that time, the idea of liberalism was rising. This means that people are now more comfortable to express everything and they prioritized equality more than everything. 3.) Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place because at that time, the idea of liberalism was spreading while the Spanish colony was falling. This means that the power that the Spaniards have in this time was going down as well. Rizal would take advantage of this and did what he could to beat the Spaniards using the knowledge he gained throughout the years. 4.) Yes

1. During the time of Dr. Jose Rizal, the rise of liberalism happened. It is where democracy became more popular than monarchy. Various countries used this concept and millions of people benefited from it. Race equality, strengthened human rights, having the people take a position on the government takes place, etc. As a result of these factors, the Spaniard Colonies decreased. If Rizal was born to the Colonizers earlier before liberalism became favorable, his fight will not that likely had an impact and he will fight the prime strong force of the Spaniards. This ideology is also the same as “he was born in the right place”. If Rizal were born in a safe country free from colonizers, he will not fight the Spaniards. Thus, he will not become the inspiration of Andres Bonifacio to start a revolution against the Spaniards. If it is not Rizal, who would it be? If no one, maybe we still colonized by the Spaniards years after or until now. 2. As I emphasized, the rise of liberalism, the timing of the birth, and the place where Rizal was born are the factors why Dr. Jose Rizal successfully influenced and became one of the reasons that our country was freed from the Spaniard Colonizers. The acceptance of liberalism made Rizal think that it is even possible that the Philippines could release from the hundreds of years take over by the Spaniards. Some will be said that it is near impossible. However, Rizal challenged this ideology. The unjust ruling of the Spanish on the Filipinos, the various human rights violation, and the corruption of the Spanish government are some of maybe reasons why Rizal decided to fight the Spaniards even if he knows that it might result in his death, occur harm to his family, or it may even waste his ability and achievements. Even if these could happen, Rizal fought for our country's independence through his ability to do meaningful publications and his power to influence other people. 3. Yes Herrera (A07)

1. I think the meaning of this idea is that Rizal was right time and right place to be born in this world to save us in the Spanish Government. In this idea, it says here that he would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines. It means that Rizal is the key in the freedom of every Filipino and the Philippines from the Spanish government. It was true that Rizal is the key on freeing the Philippines from the Spanish government because it really happened. He inspired every Filipino in the country to start the revolution against the Spanish government. He made the people of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to unite to fight against the Spanish Government. Rizal was born at the right time because I think he is the only one that would start or begin the flame of revolutionary against the Spanish Government. 2.The rise of liberalism gave away for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines. With the power of Liberalism or accepting the opinions and behavior of every people, Rizal shared his ideals for each of one of us and for the sake of the future of the Philippines. During at that time Spanish Empire lost most of the countries that they have conquered except for Cuba, Philippines, and Puerto Rico. The rise of Liberalism gave Rizal some ideas to free the Philippines from Spain. With the help of Rizal roaming the world, he gathers some ideas to help the Filipinos and the Philippines. He shared his thoughts and ideas to the Filipinos. He also shared what are his plans on freeing the Philippines and for the sake of the future of the Philippines. Having Liberalism was a huge help on us since it gave us the opportunity to be equal with other people 3. Yes Lara, A07

1.) This idea was about the "what ifs" of Rizal's existence. Jose Rizal was born at the right time, and even though it will lead him to his early death, his death had a far more significant impact on Filipinos. It kindled a revolt against the Spaniards in the country as the empire declined even before Rizal's birth. Even Rizal's role in the country's quest for change and freedom cannot be denied by historians. Imagine without Jose Rizal's existence during that period, the Katipunan (KKK) wouldn't exist as well. Because following the incarceration of Rizal by the Spaniards in 1892, Andres Bonifacio determined that the Philippines could only gain liberty via revolution. He was inspired by Rizal's novel which lead him to establish the Katipunan, a secretive organization devoted to both commoners and middle-class people that used Masonic rites to create a sense of mystery. That alone gave us the chance for independence and liberty. 2.) The rise of liberalism did allow Jose Rizal to articulate his ideas for the Philippines. In the lecture, I also learned that the Spaniards were already started declining even before Rizal's birth. So, this allowed him to show that our country can be independent just like the other countries that the Spanish colonized, such as Mexico. Of course, this gave him the "red carpet," but his work does give his fellow countryman the key to start. Especially the times when the Filipinos were brainwashed because they were denied access to public institutions, and their privileges were almost entirely disregarded. Jose Rizal was an aristocracy, and because of that, he has access to education, but he used his proficiency to create novels that later helped gained what he is today. Yes, he goes abroad for a reason as he aspired to be an ophthalmologist so that he might help his mother recover from an eye condition that shows his Philanthropic ideas. All of Rizal's work was all about commitment to truth, justice, and civic values that drove his fellow countrymen to condemn and expose colonialism's unjustnesses. One of his novels, "Noli Me Tangere," is the key that revealed the Spaniard's corruption, and it ignited the independence movement. That alone paved the way to gain liberty against colonizers. 3.) 1. There are several factors that contributed to the decline of the Spanish Empire. The costly and protracted conflicts with other European powers, specifically England and France, depleted the Spanish economy and resources. The costly wars resulted in massive debt accumulation, inflation, and high taxation, further weakening the Spanish economy. Moreover, the inability of its political and economic institutions to adjust to changing times was an additional factor. This is because it relies on gold and silver obtained from its American colonies, the empire became overly reliant on raw material exports and less innovative in industrial and commercial advancement. The Spanish crown also struggled to enforce effective governance and reforms in the colonies, leading to indigenous resentment and uprisings. Furthermore, the expulsion of Spain's Jewish and Muslim populations, which had made significant contributions to the country's economy and culture, led to a decline in intellectual and cultural exchange and stifled innovation. 2. Liberalism is a political and economic philosophy that advocates for individual liberty, equality, and the preservation of civil liberties. It emphasizes free markets, limited government intervention, and democracy. During the nineteenth century, the rise of liberalism in Europe coincided with the emergence of nationalism and anti-colonial movements in the Philippines and other colonies. With this, the ideas of Liberalism influenced Jose Rizal's writings and ideals, who is a notable figure in the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. His novels "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," were critical of the Spanish colonial government and its misuse of power. He believed in the value of education and civil liberties, and he advocated for the Filipino people's right to self-government and autonomy. The rise of liberalism in Europe created a basis for Rizal to articulate his ideas for the Philippines, and his works inspired the Philippine Revolution and the eventual ousting of Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines. 3. In the late nineteenth century, the Philippines was a Spanish colony governed by a colonial government that mistreated and exploited the civilian people. During this period, nationalism, liberalism, and anti-colonialism were expanding throughout the world, including in the Philippines. Jose Rizal was born in 1861, just as the Filipino people were organizing to counteract Spanish colonial rule. Rizal's European upbringing and education exposed him to ideas such as democracy, equality, and self-determination, which he later incorporated into his writings and activism. His works were contemporaneous with the historical forces urging for Philippine independence. He was a skilled writer and a passionate advocate for the Filipino people's rights, utilizing his works to critique the colonial government's injustices and to motivate his fellow Filipinos to fight for their freedom. The execution of Jose Rizal in 1896 caused an upsurge of revolutionary activity that resulted in the Philippine Revolution and the country's eventual independence. In this sense, Rizal can be considered to be the embodiment of the Philippine independence movement, having been born at the right time and place to serve as the catalyst for change that the country required. 4. 1. The phase of "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place" is destined. To be born at the perfect time that the Spanish Empire was declining. Other countries except for the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Cube were already free from the grasp of the Spain Empire. Rizal was born during a period when the Spanish empire was experiencing corruption because of its colonial rule and the rise of liberalism. He was born when there were many revolutions worldwide, implying that even other countries that the Spanish Empire conquered had corrupt governments and conquerors enslaving their people. Rizal was indeed born at the appropriate time so that he might resurrect the Philippines and give us our independence. He is undoubtedly the instrument that the Philippines have its independence and the freedom that we can experience now. He uses his writing skill and wit to lead us Filipinos to its sovereignty. 2. We all know that Dr. Jose Rizal was about to fight for our independence by writhing and not violence or war. He exposed the Spanish Empire by revealing the cruel subjugation of the Philippines at the hand of the Spanish government. He sought information and other them to fight and gave us freedom. Because democracy is the central principle of Liberalism's emergence, Dr. Jose Rizal can communicate his ideas for the Philippines via his writings. People pay attention to the rise of Liberalism and how Dr. Jose Rizal used it to exhibit and convey his ideas for the Philippines. Liberalism provided Dr. Jose Rizal with the courage and strength to express his principles and visions for the Philippines' future. At the time of Liberalism, it was also the time of the Spanish Empire declining, which gave the people greater authority over the government. With his international experience, he used his chance to express or demonstrate his goals for our country. 3. Yes Brillo (A07)

1. It explains that at the time of Rizal's birth, the Spanish Empire was in decline. Except for the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, Spain had already lost all of its territories. Spanish colonies like Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and others fought and won their independence wars against Spain. The natives of the Philippines and Cuba gradually became aware of what was going on in the other Spanish colonies. They began to consider a revolt as well, but they lacked a leader. And then there was Rizal, who opened the minds of the Filipinos and paved the stage for a revolution against Spain. The birth of Rizal was so exact because the Spanish colonies were already falling apart. And with Rizal being born at the right time he became a tool for the revolution against Spain. I believe that if Rizal's birth was not timed correctly, the revolt against Spain would not take place. Rizal really had a big contribution on the revolution against Spain. 2. The rise of liberalism, democracy as a popular idea, and the concepts of men's equality and the protection of human rights were fast expanding throughout Europe. Kings gave up their powers to govern to non-royal blooded people in the Parliament. A shift from monarchy to democracy has also occurred. The globe witnessed several events related to the emergence of liberalism in the year Rizal was born. With the advent of liberalism came the notions of men's equality and the protection of human rights. It gave Rizal the chance to express his ideals and serve as a tool for opening the minds of Filipinos and staging a revolution against Spain. The emergence of liberalism aided Rizal in coming up with ideas for the revolution against Spain and putting those ideas into action. The rise of liberalism also helped the natives of the Philippines to be free from the dictatorship of the Spanish people. 3. Yes. Firme (A07)

1. In my personal view, the idea that "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." is true. Rizal was born at the time that the Spanish colonies were being reduced because of the revolutions done and won by the countries the Spanish once colonized, such as Mexico and Peru. Rizal was born in the right place, the Philippines, the country that needed the spark of revolution to overthrow the Spaniards. Rizal was indeed the instrument that made the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen through his works, the novels El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere, which inspired the Filipino people from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, especially Andres Bonifacio, the leader of the KKK, to unite and fight for the freedom of the country. Rizal sparks the revolution when the Spanish Colonies are getting weak, and the chances of attaining freedom are increasing. 2. From my point of view, the rise of liberalism gave way for Jose Rizal to express his ideas for the Philippines as he saw hope for his fellow citizens and felt that the Philippines and its people deserve the type of government that liberalism can offer, the freedom and equality for its people. Not only that the concept of liberalism give him ideas, but liberalism also gave Jose Rizal the authority and freedom to write his own literary pieces, such as his famous novels. Jose Rizal made the idea of liberalism and the situation of the Filipinos under the rule of the Spaniards as his theme for his novels and other writings. He passed through his ideals and vision for the Philippines to the Filipino people. And knowing that the revolution happened, Jose Rizal did really successfully transferred the concept of liberalism to the Filipino people and opened their eyes to the oppression that the Spaniards are inflicting to them. 3. 1.) To interpret this type of thought about Jose Rizal being born at the right time and in the right place means that there are several countries around the world to be the birthplace and year of birth for Rizal. Furthermore, it is not just a coincidence; it is the fate of Jose Rizal to be born in the Philippines to inspire and create awareness among the Filipino people to initiate a revolution against the colonization of the Spanish Empire to cease the suffering and slavery of our country. Moreover, it also stated that he was the instrument that would create a revolution and obtain the independence of the Philippines in the hands of the Spanish Empire. Besides, through the use of his literary works, he spread the understanding and consciousness to his fellow Filipino and gradually learned about the situation of other Spanish colonies and our country, which motivates the Filipino people to start a revolution and set us free. 2.) The rise of liberalism gives way for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines through the use of his writing skills; he created several literary works, including Noli Me Tángere, El Filibusterismo, and Mi último adios. Additionally, the rise of liberalism motivates Jose Rizal to fight back against the Spanish Empire for the rights of every Filipino people and our country to obtain liberty, equality rights for the individuals, and attain power from the Spanish colonial government. Moreover, those are the reasons that inspire Rizal to create those famous literary works to indicate the suffering experiences of the Filipino people against the Spanish colonizers. Further, the last work of Jose Rizal was the Mi último adios during his imprisonment in Dapitan; it is a poem about how beautiful our country is and how Rizal wants us to treasure our country and learn from the experience of history and see the truth about how the world views us. Lastly, Rizal studied in several countries, especially in Europe, where he embraced liberalism and reflected it in his literary works, which is one of the factors why the Philippines obtained its independence. 3.) 1. There are a lot of reasons why the Spanish Empire declined. It is a well-known event in world history; it began to decline in the 17th century. Many factors contributed to their decline. First is the Economic problems, The Americans caused a massive influx in silver and the inflation, which caused the economic instability in Spain. Since the Spanish government did a lot of projects and wars, which caused their treasury to be drained. Next is the political problems, there are a lot of struggles and inefficiency that the Spanish monarchy showed, the power struggle continued in the court since it is composed of multiple factions. Which made it difficult for them to control and make decisions. Next is the constant defeat of their military army, during the 17th century they were constantly defeated and this caused them their territory and prestige which weakened Spain's position in Europe. Lastly is the Colonial rebellions. In the 18th century, there were multiple Spanish colonies in America that began to rebel against the Spanish government. These rebellions contributed to the independence of Spain's American colonies. 2. Liberalism is a type of philosophy that involves politics and morals based on the idea of an individual’s liberty and equality. The rise of liberalism led to the fall of the Spanish dictatorship in the Philippines. This means that there was more freedom which allowed Jose Rizal to publish his writings and organize movements. Next is the spread of Western ideas that include democracy, equality, and etc. This also influenced Rizal to solidify his beliefs that the Philippines could achieve true progress and independence. Lastly is the birth of the new era of Filipino intellectuals who began to give a lot of new knowledge and ideas. These intellectuals want to study and create different movements that will greatly benefit us Filipinos. Rizal’s beliefs were not realized at the time. His actions and works surely helped the foundation for the independence of the Philippines and democracy. That is why he is rightly considered to be one of the most important people in Philippine history. . 3. The idea of it is true. He did a lot of things during his lifetime, he became well-known and popular in Philippine history. During his lifetime he experienced a lot of new things and learned from them at the same time. There are a lot of reasons why that is the case. First is that he was born at the right time because he took advantage of the Spanish Empire’s decline and there are multiple people that started to show nationalism. With this he took advantage of it and made the people realize about everything. Next is that he is knowledgeable and a good writer. He was able to express himself through his works. His well-known works are considered classics in Philippine literature, and it still continues to this day. Lastly is that he is a man of action. He will do what his heart wants and will strive for it until his dying breath. His will for change is shown and continues to spread to a lot of the Filipinos at the time. He created a movement to strive for change and total suppression of the Spanish authorities. 4. Yes

1) There were probable reasons mentioned on how and why the Spanish Empire declined. But prior to these reasons, I believe that the main reason or the starting point of the decline of the Spanish Empire is the spread of Liberalism. It all started in the West when all the colonies under the Spanish Empire decided to take up arms and revolt against the Spanish Empire to win their Liberty back. Mexico, Argentina, Peru, are one of those Spanish colonies who first won their liberty back against the Spanish colonizers. These all spread on the world and every colony decided to do the same. Apart from this there are probable reasons mentioned which were, Corruption of the Colonial government. We all know that corruption is one of the main things why a government experiences downfalls instead of progress. The second reason is the Union of the church and state. This union built up a stronger power to revolt against the colonizers. Lastly is the unjust treatment of people in the colonies. The unjust treatment is what triggered for the Spanish colonies to revolt against them. If they have treated their colonies well, no revolution might happen. 2) Liberal is the context of democracy. People of the government has the power instead of only one ruler who has the power against all of these people. We can call democracy where everybody is free. Free to express their feelings, they have voice in the public, they can spread out their opinions, and etc. Liberalism helped countries to be more humane and treat everybody equally despite their position in the society. It doesn't matter who you are or what your status is socially. You have your own voice and freedom within the country that is Liberal. This Liberalism helped Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines because this is mainly the reason and what other nations have done and fought for in order to win their freedom back. 2) The idea mentioned was something like destiny? or what we call the chosen one, I believe? This belief came from just me watching anime that has characters who was born to be the instrument, as a hero, and to give peace around the world. This is what came into my mind. Just imagine, as the year Rizal was born, Spanish colonies started to revolt and fight for their freedom against the colonizers and winning it all. That is why, it came into my mind that Rizal really is the chosen one, for the Philippines to gain its Liberty back and live again peacefully as one country. But then just like in the anime I have watched it is not possible for only one person to accomplish such heavy task. It was all made possible because of the "power of friendship"(common in anime) but for what the Philippines did that time is the power of one nation. The power of the Filipinos as one which made it possible for us to gain and taste the freedom once more. Today, we are experiencing that liberty that our heroes have fought for and I believe hat Rizal was the one who all started it and gave strengths and inspired everyone. 3) YES LACHICA, A18

1. During the 17th-18th century There are many empires that existed during that time. French Empire, The British Empire, The Dutch Empire, The Russian Empire, and the Spanish Empire. The Philippines is part of the Spanish Empire, and it was 327 long years. There are a lot of countries who were a part of the Spanish Empire during the colonial period. During the early 1800s several countries such as Mexico, Argentina, and Peru fought their independence which resulted to war, and they won against the Spanish colonizers, and they ended up victorious. With that happening, some countries such as the Philippines was eager to reclaim their motherland. Due to corruption, union of church and state, and poor actions towards locals, the decline of the empire started. Rizal was the instrument that paved the way for the Filipinos to help with the revolution and to gain the independence that the Philippines are longing. 2. Liberalism is embracing the differences of others and being open to new ideas. During the colonial period in 1800s, it gave rise to liberalism where leaders from all over the world contributed to it. Jose Rizal was born at exactly the right time since the liberalism is fast emerging through that period. It sparked his eagerness to enlighten or open the eyes of his fellow countrymen by writing and making works. He opposed on the current management during that era exposing the corruptions and wrong doings. Dr. Jose Rizal studied cultures, laws and the governments to help the Philippines. With his great mind and a lot of knowledge of what is happening in the Philippines, he became successful in opening the minds and starting a revolution against the Spanish colonizers. With Rizal’s patriotic and peaceful approach, Filipinos and Spanish gained his attention. His help in the Philippine Revolution ultimately led to his death. 3.The statement, "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." Was definitely true. Like what I’ve said earlier, Rizal was born on the time that the Liberalism is spreading on the world. It ignited Dr. Jose Rizal to share his knowledge and creative ideas to his countrymen to open their eyes on what truly the locals of the Philippines deserve. He was an instrument that paved the way on our independence. With Rizal experiencing the privilege of having funds to learn abroad, he is knowledgeable on the way of living and government of other countries. Rizal through his poems and writings is not an ordinary artist, but instead He is a country hero. Surely a lot of great man that also contributed and sparked the revolution, but Rizal defended his beliefs of freeing the country until his death. 4. YES Balagtas (B43)

1. The idea meant that Rizal lived in an era where liberalism or independence against colonizers were popular. Therefore, Rizal is an illustrado that has traveled the world and seen everything. He might have compared the life in the foreign countries and he could have learned the culture and politics of those countries that could influence him to write a book because he might realize that we could have our independence or maybe he has wondered why the Filipinos were treated not good which leads to his books that include the bad treatment of the Spanish colonization here in our country during that time. Probably in God's perfect timing he and his works became a tool for the insurgence of fighting by revolution to obtain the independence of our country from the Spanish colonizers due to unjust treatment and many more. 2. The Spanish colony's limited academic education was wholly controlled by the church, but by the 1880s, many sons of the wealthy were being sent to Europe to study, one of whom was Rizal. Nationalism and a cry for reform developed in the liberal society. This smart group of international Filipino students gave birth to the Propaganda Movement. Magazines, poetry, and political activism were all thriving during that time. Rizal, the most outstanding character in this movement, wrote two political writings, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, both of which had a huge impact in our country and have been a tool against Spanish colonization. 3. 1.The statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." would have a great impact to the Filipino people. Many people would be inspired from the great achievements of Dr. Jose Rizal during his era. His heroic life was like to be destined to bring the greatest victory for the Filipino people. He was the like the missing piece to the jigsaw puzzle of independence and the long-lost key to the doors of freedom. During the days before Dr. Jose Rizal was born, the Spanish empire has remained dominant for their colonies but slowly declined when the time of birth of Dr. Jose Rizal. He was able to distinguish what is happening to the other colonies of the Spanish empire and with the gift of wisdom that has given to him he was able to use this as an instrument to create his masterpieces and launch the spark of the awaiting freedom of the Philippines. 2. Different empires had been ruling the world in the past for a very long period of time. Empires had their royal families that has the control on the entire reign in every government system or which we called as monarchy and this form of government had been continuing for ages. As the time flies’ people in the different parts of world were able to adapt and improve which allowed them to gain knowledge and that would help their lifestyle to grow and develop. The concept of liberalism had started way back in the 1800s. It had begun before the birth of Dr. Jose Rizal. Monarchies had started to decrease, and royalties had given up their powers to the people. The idea of liberalism includes democracy and human rights that has given many people, including Dr. Jose Rizal, the ability to speak and express their thoughts and ideas to the public. with this, he was able to write books and poems as a way to express his thoughts that inspired his fellow Filipinos to start a revolution and fight for independence. 3. 1. The thought that "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" would mean that Rizal given that he is not only a hero but our national hero might not be the case if he were born at a different period of time and changes in a few of the circumstances or maybe even advantageous circumstances, he may not be the hero we know today. He was born during the events where liberalism was already at play and many happenings on a global scale has already occurred like the Appeasement of the 23 million farmers in Russia, Freedom of Slaves in the United States, and the decay of the Spanish empire and it is the factors that affected and shaped Dr. Jose Rizal and therefor shaping the Philippines' Revolution as well. 2. When Dr. Jose Rizal was born the Spanish empire was already in decay and slowly but surely loosing its grips towards its colonies and its dominance around the globe, by the time Dr. Jose Rizal was born the only remaining colonies of Spain are Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. When Rizal was raised the idea of liberalism was already in his mind and by the time he left the Philippines and study abroad in Europe and write his different works like El Filibusterismo his mind was even in a better position to express his ideals for the Philippines and its Filipino people. The time was the right time to open the mind of the Filipino people in order to stage a revolution against Spain for the freedom of the country and Dr. Jose Rizal was the key instrument into making all of this happen as he serves the ignition or spark to light the way towards the independence of our land. 3. 1. The Spanish Empire was falling apart for several reasons. The colonial government's corruption is one probable reason, as mentioned in the video. The Spanish government's corruption and incompetence led to the improper use of resources, which made it harder for the empire to successfully control its colonies. Priests used to have more influence because of the union of church and state, which is also why they treat Filipinos unfairly and differently before. Several Spanish colonies launched an independence war against Spain and won it because of Spain's imperial government's harsh and unjust treatment of its colonies. The Philippines was one of Spain's colonies, and it saw major resistance and revolutions there that depleted its resources and worsened its decline. 2. Liberals support free markets and civil freedoms including the freedom of speech, religion, and association, and think that the government should only have a limited role in the economy and people's personal affairs. They also support social welfare initiatives and regulations that advance human rights and equality. The rise of liberalism in the Philippines in the late 19th century occurred at the same time as the Propaganda Movement, a time of political awakening and enlightenment. Intellectuals from the Philippines, especially Jose Rizal, formed the movement to demand changes and more independence from Spanish colonial control. He supported the idea that education and awareness are necessary for achieving social and political change, and that Filipinos must stand up for their rights and national identity. Rizal exposed the inequities and corruption in colonial society and criticized the Spanish government in his novels, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo." His works helped bring an end to Spanish rule in the Philippines by encouraging many Filipinos to join the fight for independence. 3. Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place since the Spanish empire was already decaying when he was born. Spain had already lost all its colony except for the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. It was the right time he was born in the Philippines to be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen. Rizal was born and lived during a crucial moment in Philippine history when the nation was going through major political and social changes. As a result of his studies and exposure to liberal ideas, while traveling through Europe, Rizal was able to cultivate a deep sense of nationalism and a desire for social and political reforms in his native Philippines. His works exposed the injustices experienced by Filipinos under Spanish control and criticized the oppressive and deceptive colonial regime. Many Filipinos were motivated and inspired by Rizal's concepts and writings to join the independence movement, which resulted in the Philippine Revolution of 1896. Although Rizal himself opposed the armed revolution, the Filipinos' will to struggle for their freedom was strengthened by his martyrdom and execution in 1896. Eventually, the Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines reached its downfall. 4. Yes BUENAVENTURA, A18

1) There were several reasons for the decline of the Spanish empire, including economic troubles, political instability, and military failures. The Spanish empire faced numerous economic problems such as inflation, trade deficits, and a lack of diversified industries. The Spanish empire was involved in numerous wars and conflicts, which led to a massive drain on its resources and military capabilities. Spain was ruled by numerous monarchs who often had conflicting policies and agendas, leading to political instability and a lack of coherent governance. Spain's colonies, including those in the Americas and Asia, were often mismanaged and exploited, which led to resentment and uprisings by the colonized populations. Other European powers, such as England, France, and the Netherlands, began to challenge Spain's dominance in trade, commerce, and colonization, leading to a decline in Spanish power and influence. Overall, the decline of the Spanish empire was caused by a combination of economic, military, political, and colonial factors, which ultimately led to a loss of pow 2) Liberalism is a political ideology that emerged during the Enlightenment period in Europe, emphasizing individual freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. Jose Rizal, who was exposed to liberal ideas while studying in Europe, incorporated these values into his writings and activism. Rizal's novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, were critical of the Spanish colonial government and its abuses of power, advocating for reforms and greater autonomy for the Philippines within the Spanish empire, based on liberal principles such as representation, equality, and justice. Rizal's liberal ideals inspired the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule, and the revolutionaries and leaders of the independence movement, such as Emilio Aguinaldo and Apolinario Mabini, were also influenced by liberal ideas. They sought to establish a democratic and free society in the Philippines, which eventually led to the country's independence. The rise of liberalism in the 19th century provided a framework for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines. He believed that the country needed to progress and modernize, and that the Filipino people deserved equal rights, representation, and social justice. Rizal's advocacy for liberal values contributed to the eventual independence of the Philippines and inspired future generations to uphold the principles of democracy and freedom. 3) The idea that Rizal was born at the right time and place to make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen suggests that his life and work were crucial in the eventual attainment of Philippine independence. Rizal's birth in 1861 in a colony seeking greater autonomy from Spanish rule placed him in a unique position to witness and experience the injustices and abuses of colonialism. Rizal's education in Europe, exposure to liberal ideas, and his literary works, such as Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, were critical in inspiring and mobilizing Filipinos towards the cause of independence. His writings were instrumental in raising public awareness about the injustices of colonial rule, and he advocated for reforms and greater autonomy for the Philippines within the Spanish empire. Rizal's life and work were instrumental in laying the groundwork for the eventual revolution and independence of the Philippines. His birth in a colony seeking greater autonomy, his education, and exposure to liberal ideas, and his advocacy for reforms and autonomy for the Philippines were all factors that contributed to his significance as an instrument of change. 4) YES Hermosa (A18)

At that time the Filipinos were unfortunate victims of the evils of an unjust, biased, and deteriorating power at the time. The instability of Spanish politics since King Ferdinand VII's turbulent reign marked the beginning of political chaos in Spain. And so for the idea Rizal being born was the spark that the Filipinos much needed help in order to make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen. We were lucky that Rizal was born at that time he made a lot of contribution by using his poems to open our fellow Filipinos eyes. Rizal was a key figure in the country's reform and independence movements. His publications, particularly the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, were seen as a rallying point for fellow patriots to rally behind the cause of the country. his political writings which inspired the Philippine revolution and ultimately led to his execution by the Spanish colonizers. 1.) In the late 19th century, the Spanish Empire was in a state of decline, and this decline had various causes. Firstly, Spain was struggling economically due to its inability to modernize and keep pace with the industrial revolution. This led to heavy debts, which further compounded the Empire's financial problems. Secondly, corruption and inefficiency were rampant in the Spanish government. Bureaucrats were more concerned with lining their own pockets than with governing justly and efficiently. This led to widespread mismanagement and a lack of accountability, which further weakened the Empire's power and prestige. Finally, the emergence of nationalist movements in Spain's colonies, including the Philippines, challenged the legitimacy of Spanish rule. These movements were fueled by a desire for independence, cultural revival, and political representation. The Spanish government's response to these movements was often brutal and oppressive, which only served to exacerbate the problem. All of these factors combined to weaken the Spanish Empire, and it was clear that something had to be done to reverse the trend. Unfortunately, the Spanish government was unable or unwilling to make the necessary changes, and the Empire continued to decline until it finally collapsed. 2.) Liberalism is a political and social ideology that emerged in the 18th century and emphasized individual freedoms, civil rights, and equality before the law. It also called for limited government intervention in the economy and the promotion of free markets. This movement had a significant impact on colonial Philippines, where the Spanish colonial government's authoritarian rule clashed with liberal ideas. Jose Rizal, a brilliant and influential Filipino, was deeply moved by liberal ideas and used them to champion Philippine independence. Rizal believed that Filipinos could only attain true progress and freedom by embracing liberal principles and rejecting colonial rule. He argued that Filipinos deserved the same rights and freedoms as any other people and should have the right to participate in the governance of their own country. Rizal's advocacy for liberal ideals was reflected in his writings and activism, which aimed to awaken Filipinos' sense of national identity and dignity. He called for reforms in the colonial government and encouraged Filipinos to take part in the political process. Rizal's ideas and activism were instrumental in paving the way for the Philippine Revolution and the eventual establishment of the Philippine Republic in 1898. 3.) The Philippines was going through a major transformation when Jose Rizal was born. The Spanish colonial rule was losing its grip on the country, and people were starting to demand more freedom and rights. Rizal, born in a well-educated family, was lucky enough to receive a quality education and exposure to diverse cultures and ideas. Thanks to his exceptional intelligence, talent, and bravery, Rizal was the perfect candidate to lead the movement for Philippine independence. He wrote extensively about the need for social justice and reforms for Filipinos, which served as a beacon of hope and motivation for the masses. In essence, Rizal was a product of his time and environment, and his contributions played a significant role in shaping the history of the Philippines. He became a symbol of resistance and a source of inspiration for generations of Filipinos, who continue to fight for their freedom, democracy, and national sovereignty. Lalap, A18

1. This quote or idea says that Jose Rizal was born at the right time and in the right place because he was the one of the reasons of our Independence in our country. We all know that Rizal fought for our fellow Filipinos in the form of his novels and writings, through his novels our fellow citizen learn that we Filipinos own our mother land and not the Spaniards. The natives slowly learned what happened to the other countries and they started to have a plan of having a revolution. Rizal's birth was like a blessing or a miracle to us Filipinos because he was the instrument for achieving the freedom that the past, present, and future generations have. Also, Rizal made the revolution possible because in his life's work, he said to us what the Spaniards did to us, the slavery, corruption and many others. The Filipinos realized what Rizal was trying to say and this made the revolution takes in place. 2. The rise of liberalism gives Rizal to write his novels without any disturbance because liberalism is spreading throughout the world. Jose Rizal's principles were a culmination of the teachings of what is known as Enlightenment thought. Injustices perpetrated by priest and Spanish misrule. Jose Rizal's works elevated him from a writer and campaigner against Spanish rule's social and religious injustices in the Philippines to a national hero. When the Spanish empire decayed due to the corruption of colonial government and unjust treatment of people in the colonies, this gives way for Rizal to express his ideals and propagandas for the Philippines. It is like when he learned what happen to the other colonies, on how they got their early freedom, he was inspired from them, and he work and fought hard for us to achieve our freedom too. This is how I think the way Rizal express his ideals for the Philippines. 3. Yes. -TABAFUNDA (A06)

1.The right word to explain the statement regarding Rizal's timeline was that being born in the right time and place is a destiny of him to be crossed and fulfilled. The fact that he was born in the midst of the rise of liberalism was a factor to consider on how he will bring independence and be the reason for the start of revolution against the Spaniards as he was considered as the inspiration of others to fight for our country. Likewise, with the fall of Spanish colonies, it contributed to the Filipinos having the idea to fight for freedom and be free from being colonized. Thus, Jose Rizal is born to be a hero that would give honor and independence to our country through the use of his wit and love for the Philippines. Lastly, by experiencing the cruelty of Spaniards by doing the filipinos slave for a long period of time it is also one of the factors that made the Filipino to finally decide to regain the freedom that the Spaniards took from us. 2. The rise of liberalism was eye opening to every Filipino, especially to Jose Rizal since it promotes democracy and human rights. It helps him to express his thoughts through his writings, for instance, novels, articles, and other forms of writing that encompasses such information that would bring the Filipinos to fight and be inspired in bringing change to their country and to their ways of living. Thus, in the time of liberalism, it is more easier for him to write without missing details as Rizal is brave enough to express his feelings for his love to the country. Moreover, getting the ideas from other country as the declining of the Spanish Empire was also relevant, Rizal gain more ideas and thoughts on how he can share awareness, knowledge, and wisdom to Filipinos. Furthermore, with the concept that liberalism provides, it is a way of accepting and giving respect to every individual regardless of their race, status, and beliefs. Thus, liberalism existence does brought hope and change not just to the Philippines but to the entire world. 3. Yes Emperador (A07)

1.) The probable reasons why the decline of the Spanish empire exist is because of the corruption of the colonial government, at the expense of the indigenous inhabitants they were supposed to control, officials and representatives of the colonial government utilized their positions of authority to enrich themselves. Second is the unity of the church and state which should be separated and that time the time of Dr. Jose Rizal the most superior was a church that who is running the state. Lastly, the bad treatment of the people which they specifically do purposely to down the people under them. These are the reasons that were looked at why the Spanish Empire is declining. The revolution of some Spanish colonies sprouts to fight for the independence of their respective country. The natives in the other colonies slowly learned about the revolution happening in the other country under the Spaniards so the idea of revolution is starting to arise. 2.) Liberalism defines a strong emphasis on individual liberty, free markets, and limited government meddling in the society and economy. This political theory was spreading in Europe, it deals with the equality of men and the justification of human rights and democracy. There are also events that take place related to the rise of Liberalism. That time it was observed by Rizal who is currently studying there and he starts to have an idea. Individual liberty, human rights, and the rule of law were all important to Rizal. He criticized the Spanish colonial government's abuses and advocated for reforms that would give the Filipino people more autonomy and representation. He also believed in the importance of education and the spread of knowledge in the development of a free and prosperous society. He was able to argue for reforms that would benefit the Filipino people by drawing on liberal principles of individual rights and representative government. 3.) When Rizal was born on the year 1861 the Spanish empire was already decaying. Their power is started to decline and they cannot uphold their power just like before. He is from a well-off family which is why he is able to travel abroad to study. He was gifted with talent and intelligence that he used to understand the situation that his country was facing he slowly gain knowledge and ideas on how will he going to wake up and influence the idea of being liberated and understand the meaning of democracy. We are so lucky that he was born in the Philippines he has become the instrument, the key, and the fire that ignites the wick of the revolution that leads to the independence of the country. The struggle for independence was a long and difficult process that involved the efforts of countless individuals and organizations over many years, with both successes and setbacks. 4.) YES.

1.) There are several reasons for the decline of the Spanish empire. One of the reasons is the independence movements, wherein it is the rise of nationalist movements in the colonies, seeking self-governance and independence, posed a significant challenge to Spanish rule. These movements were often inspired by ideals, revolutions, and the desire for political and economic autonomy. Another reason is political instability in which Spain experienced internal political uncertainty, including frequent changes in government, weak leadership, and corruption. This instability weakened the empire's ability to govern effectively and maintain control over its colonies. 2.) Liberal is an individual freedom, equality, and the protection of civil liberties. It places a strong emphasis on the rights of individuals and the belief that society should be structured to ensure the maximum possible freedom for each individual. On the other hand, its rise gives way for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines by way of, it providing him an intellectual framework that is influenced by liberal thinkers. By way of his writings, Rizal advocated for political reforms, social justice, and the recognition of Filipino identity which enlightenment ideals of freedom, reason, and equality. His writings of novels served as catalysts for social and political awakening, inspiring a generation of Filipino revolutionaries who would later lead the struggle for independence. 3.) The idea, "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." means that his birth and his actions play a vital role in shaping the course of Philippine history. His ideas, life, and works inspire people toward the goal of independence. Rizal's timing was significant because he emerged during a period of growing nationalism and political awakening among Filipinos. His ideas resonated with the sentiments of his compatriots, who were seeking avenues for expressing their aspirations for self-governance and freedom. Rizal's prominence as a national hero and intellectual figurehead made him a symbol of resistance and a unifying force for the independence movement. 4.) Yes -DE GUIA, B43

1.) The Spanish Empire faced challenges in its administrative system, characterized by corruption, bureaucratic inefficiency, and a rigid class structure. These issues hindered effective governance and limited local autonomy, leading to discontent among colonial subjects. Furthermore, the loss of colonies resulted from revolts and independence movements that arose in various Spanish colonies. Motivated by a desire for self-determination and inspired by Enlightenment ideals of freedom and nationalism, these movements sought to break free from Spanish rule. These dealt significant blows to Spain's power, reducing its territorial control. These independence movements significantly reduced Spain's colonial holdings, leading to a loss of valuable resources, trade routes, and economic power. Spain's administrative shortcomings, including corruption and bureaucratic inefficiency, along with the emergence of independence movements in its colonies, led to the decline of the Spanish Empire. 2.) Liberalism refers to a political ideology that emphasizes individual freedoms, limited government intervention, and the protection of civil liberties. It emerged during the Enlightenment period in Europe and became a significant force in various parts of the world, including the Philippines. Rizal effectively expressed his ideals for the Philippines by leveraging his skills as a writer and poet. He took advantage of the rise of liberalism in the late 19th century Philippines, which provided an intellectual and ideological framework aligned with his vision. Rizal believed in the power of education, reason, and nonviolent activism in bringing about positive societal change. His advocacy for individual rights and equality, regardless of social status or ethnicity, resonated with the principles of liberalism. Rizal called for reforms such as equal access to education, representation in government, and the elimination of oppressive colonial policies. Through his novels, particularly "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," Rizal effectively exposed the injustices and abuses perpetuated by the Spanish colonial regime in the Philippines. These literary works served as potent instruments in raising awareness and gathering support for the nationalist movement. 2.) The statement that "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" shows the historical context and Rizal's significance in the Philippine struggle for independence. Rizal was born on June 19, 1861, a time when the Philippines was undergoing substantial social, political, and economic transformations. As a Spanish colony, the Philippines was exposed to the global dissemination of nationalist and liberal ideas. Rizal's birth coincided with this critical period, and his life intersected with the burgeoning nationalist sentiment in the country. Rizal's upbringing and education played a pivotal role in shaping his ideals and positioning him as a central figure in the movement for Philippine independence. He received a comprehensive education, both within the Philippines and abroad, which exposed him to diverse intellectual and political currents of the era. Through his experiences, coupled with his inherent talents and fervor for social justice, Rizal emerged as a natural leader and advocate for reforms. 3.)YES Roxas(B43)

1) This statement or thought states that Jose Rizal was born at the right time and in the right location because he was one of the main reasons for our country's independence. We are all aware that Rizal fought for our fellow Filipinos through his novels and writings; through his novels, our fellow citizens realize that we Filipinos own our mother land and not the Spaniards. The indigenous gradually became aware of what had transpired in the other countries, and they began to formulate a strategy for executing a revolution. For us Filipinos, Rizal's birth was a blessing or a miracle since he was the tool that enabled the past, present, and future generations to achieve their freedom. Also, Rizal paved the way for the revolution by revealing to us what the Spaniards had done to us, including slavery, corruption, and a host of other atrocities. The Filipinos recognized what Rizal was attempting to express, and as a result, the revolution was able to take place. One of the reasons for our country's independence is attributed to Jose Rizal, who was born at the perfect time and location. Through his novels, our fellow citizens learn that the Philippines belongs to us and not the Spanish. This is something we all know because Rizal battled for us in his novels. A revolution was forming among the indigenous as they became aware of what had transpired in other countries. For Filipinos, Rizal's birth was a blessing or a miracle because he was the means by which past, current, and future generations of Filipinos gained their freedom. The revolution was made possible in part because of Rizal's life's work, in which he told us what the Spaniards had done to us. As a result of this realization, the Filipino revolution took place. 2) Dr. Jose Rizal might not have been able to publish his famous writings on the Spanish exploitation of the Filipinos if it weren't for Liberalism, which allowed him to do so. People were more inclined to listen to and publicize his works despite his final execution since Liberalism advocates for free enterprise and civil liberties. A person's character and worldview are also shaped by their upbringing. In a culture where slavery was the norm and power was absolute, Rizal might not have given much thought to the concept of the Philippines as a distinct nation. A student who has had the opportunity to interact with people from other countries and cultures has a greater knowledge of the differences between countries. After spending time in Madrid and seeing more of the globe, he had a better grasp of liberalism and could make more accurate comparisons. Because of the way the world was operating in the 1800s, the Philippines, like the slaves and farmers of the period, should also be freed. 3) Yes Salado(A06)

1.) The statement “Rizal was born at the right time in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen” means that he is destined to be at the time when the Philippines is at the hand of the oppressors. Rizal was a great martyr who stood up against injustice when others remained silent. He was a martyr who used his voice to go against injustice when others remained silent. His views aided a novel concept in Asia at that time, the national identity. He holds onto these beliefs up until his last breath. His death gives the Filipinos to start the rebellion against the Spaniards to fight for Philippine independence. Rizal has been the instrument not just in the Philippine independence but also in the development of various sectors of our country, such as art, literature, and medicine, which continue to interest Filipinos today. Rizal's love for the Philippines could be seen in practically every action he took. 2.) Liberalism is a defining component of modern democracy, as seen by the phrase "liberal democracy" to designate countries with free and fair elections, the rule of law, and safeguarded civil liberties. The rise of liberalism opens Rizal’s eye to democracy and human rights. This become an inspiration to his works and writings, which brought hope and change to our country. As a result, in the age of liberalism, it is easier for him to write without leaving out information since Rizal is brave enough to convey his thoughts for his nation. Dr. Rizal epitomizes the Filipino people's and nation's noblest aspirations. 1) As mentioned in the video lecture, some of the reasons for the decline of the Spain empire include the corruption of the colonial government, the union of the church and state, and the unjust treatment of the people in the colonies. For some of these reasons, Spanish colonies such as Mexico and Argentina started to wage war against Spain and got their independence, reducing their reign and their empire. As great as the Spanish empire reigned for quite some time, it would soon collapse if it is not maintained well. Due to other countries fighting for their freedom versus Spain, it took a toll on their finances and their control over territories in some countries over the world. That is when the Spanish empire slowly crumbled until their reign finally came to an end with other countries starting to rise above the Spanish empire cannot compete with them any longer. 2) Liberal according to Merriam-Webster is anything that can be associated with the words generous, loose, or broad-minded. It is the idea of accepting or being open to changes, ideas, or opinions from others. In other words, it can be associated with the word freedom. Rizal was influenced by the principle of liberalism and how it gave way for him to express his ideals for the freedom of the Philippines. As stated by the book of LE Claudio, "Jose Rizal: Liberalism and the Paradox," it was said that Rizal took the idea of liberalism including human rights, individual freedom, and freedom of speech just to name a few. With the concept of liberalism, Rizal took the opportunity to include this in his writings which inspired not only the KKK but all Filipinos to start fighting for our freedom. This led to Rizal finding ways and being the instrument of how the Filipinos would make the revolution and independence against Spain happen. 3) The idea stated that Rizal was born at a time when he took the opportunity to learn from the other countries which Spain colonized and have an idea of how we can go and get our freedom from Spain. With how things ended up with other countries that Spain colonized, Rizal grabbed that opportunity to learn from them how they did it, and what was their strategy. When fighting a war, it is not just about fighting, the art of war is how you take on strategies and think fast about the situation to get a better hand and be in control over your opponent. Because of his skills and smart thinking, he was able to think of different ways and thought of the best strategies, and his way to convey ideas through his novels inspired the revolution and independence of the Philippines to happen. His intelligence, and knowledge together with his skills prove that he was the one that would end the reign of Spain in the Philippines. This explains why Rizal was born at the right time and in the right place. 4) YES (CAGAMPANG, B43)

1. This statement reminds me of the saying "Everything happens for a reason and a purpose." The fact that Rizal was born in the midst of liberalism and the fall of the Spanish Empire foretells his destiny to redeem our nation from the cruelty of the Spaniards. Furthermore, when the western countries defeated the Spaniards, Jose Rizal was able to examine their tactics, which assisted him in creating a strategy for starting a revolt against the Spanish empire. Similarly, his works have served as an example not just to our other late heroes, but to every Filipino citizen to fight for what is rightfully ours and not be afraid to express our thoughts. Lastly, even though he was slain tragically, this only proves that Filipinos are strong, determined, and devoted to their homeland. 2. The growth of liberalism inspired Rizal to convey his ideals for our nation by researching the concepts of democracy, human rights, and equality of men and women in countries that had not been conquered by Spaniards. His works, which emphasize individual rights and independence, have reawakened nationalism and liberalism. In addition, Rizal's legacy continues to inspire and motivate people to unite and be proud of their Filipino origin. 1. Before even Rizal was born, which was in the early 1800s, Spanish colonies have gained independence such as Mexico, Argentina and Peru and only a few of their colonies are left; safe to say, the Spanish empire is already declining. These countries have fought and shed blood in order to gain their independence from these colonizers. When Rizal was born, the Spanish is still colonizing the Philippines. However, Rizal learned about liberalism and embraced it. He ripened the minds of the Filipinos that it is time for them to gain their independence from the Spanish colonizers by writing the two novels: Noli Me Tangere and El FIlibusterismo. Although he wasn’t planning on staging a revolution against Spain, the Filipinos themselves realized it and that they fought for it with the like of Andres Bonifacio and the KKK. Without Rizal, they wouldn’t have thought of staging a revolution against Spain. In conclusion, the timing of him being born was perfect as he was the key in opening the minds of Filipinos in gaining independence from Spain. 2. During Rizal’s time, liberalism is being popularized. Democracy became a popular idea and the concepts of equality of men and human rights were spreading in Europe and eventually the whole world. Slave trading had been abolished by Abraham Lincoln and Czar Alexander II abolished the serfdom system in the whole Russian Empire which means that farmers can now own their own lands. With these in mind, it is only natural that Rizal will gain the idea of liberalism and would want it for the country that he was born in. He studied in Europe to know more about liberalism and eventually popularized it in the Philippines as well. He expressed his ideals for the Philippines through various means but not through violence but by using the pen and paper. Such works are establishing the La Liga Filipina and most importantly writing the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which paved the way for liberalism and democracy in the Philippines. 3. 1. Rizal was born in 1861, at a time when revolutions started changing the world order into a more modern system that resembles the governments of today. Gone were the days of empires and kingdoms, kings and queens. Colonies were gaining their independence after centuries of being ruled over by foreign powers. In their place, democracy was upheld, where people can take to power for no longer than a few years at a time and where no single person holds absolute authority. It was at this time that liberalism and democracy rose to prominence and as such, there was no better time than this for an idealist with a dream for a better future of his people to rise to the occasion. And that idealist, that hero, was Dr. Jose Rizal, who brought about reforms in a country surrounded by an ocean of change, ready to embrace a liberated future. 2. Rizal was one of the few fortunate enough to be born into a wealthy family, a family that could afford to send him to study abroad. It was in his studies in Europe that made him see what could be for his country. Seeing the lives of people in their countries made him realize that so much more could be done for the Filipinos and his education there certainly helped him in his opposition against the regime in the Philippines. Here he learned and wrote many of the things that made him such a prominent advocate for rights and equality among the Filipino people, and what made him a huge inspiration for them as well. A lot of this can all be traced back to the liberalism that Rizal himself experienced in his time in Europe, the same liberalism and freedom he longed for his people to experience themselves. 3. Yes. 1) This concept demonstrates how Jose Rizal is born at the perfect time. The world was chaotic before him because of Spanish colonization, but after Rizal became an Ilustrado, he began to observe and learn concepts about liberalism and democracy. As a man of intellectual letters, he began writing novels, and his writings were motivating, causing Filipinos and colonized countries to learn knowledge and awaken from reality. Spanish control began to weaken at that time, and the regime's foundation began to fail. Some countries, like Cuba and the Philippines, started a revolution against the Spaniards, which eventually became successful. And seeing how Rizal was born at the right time, as well as how, through his books, he revealed how terrible the circumstances and social inequalities were in our country at the time, Jose Rizal became an instrument in ensuring the revolution's success and the Philippines' freedom and independence. 2) Rizal had a great interest in liberal ideas since he was a child, as seen by his writings. As a result, as liberalism rose, it provided opportunities not just for Rizal, but also for those Filipinos who lived at the time. The law has changed, and so has culture, tradition, and way of thinking, as well as the promotion of individual rights and democracy. Rizal was able to openly express his objectives for us in terms of attaining freedom and independence from colonizers, as well as political concerns, through his works, which shed light and became a means to propagate his ideas and liberal beliefs. As a result, the rise of liberalism aids Rizal's goal for our country, which is to be free and secure from peril, discrimination, and the dictatorship of the majority. 3) Yes Baldovino, A07

1.) Personally, the idea "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" sums up why we have an independence today as people in that time are ready in staging a revolution against Spain because Spanish regime already lose their grounds on their colonized countries. Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He was the key and the eye opener for others specifically for Andres Bonifacio who also make the revolution possible through Rizal's novels and aspiring love for his country. Rizal made a great impact that led Filipino to make a stand against the oppressor and fight for our independence. Although it was faith who brought him at the right time for the Philippines and Filipino people, it is also faith that brought him to his early death. 2.) The rise of liberalism give way for Rizal to express his deals for our country, as he is a man filled with justice, truth, love for his country or being devoted. He expose, deplore and open Filipino's eyes about abuses of colonialism. Rizal enlighten the Filipino people about liberalism by showing and promoting individual rights, democracy and truth through his famous works Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. As democracy became a popular idea and the world experience many events related to the rise of liberalism in the year Jose Rizal was born it became his eye opener to free his people from the abusive oppressor who belittle and called his people Indio. He was born to be aware of the country's situation and make a move to inspire the Filipinos to start a revolution. Rizal was born in the Philippines in the year of 1861. The country's situation was still under the Spaniards, while some countries already had their freedom. So, because of his love for the Philippines, he did many good things for the country, such as he made us realize that we are in one nation and inspiring the Filipinos that we had to have freedom. Lastly, every country must have its deserved freedom, but there will always be sacrifices to achieve it. 2. The rise of liberalism give way for Rizal to express his ideals for the country, such as starting a revolution in order to have equality and to limit the power of the Spaniards toward the Filipinos. He was aware of how things such as revolution achieve a goal. It was a very dangerous move, but it will possibly lead us to what we want and what we are fighting for. Since he witnessed some countries fighting for what is right, for their freedom, and then suddenly achieving it, that thing gave way for him to express his ideals for the Philippines. Since he was a good writer, he then wrote something that showed the situation of the Philippines, then led the Filipinos to start a revolution. All in all, since he already had an ideal situation for the Philippines that should be achieved, the rise of liberalism gave way for Rizal to express it. 3. Yes ROXAS, A07

1. It simply means that Jose Rizal had played a key role in the history of our country. It means that if he would have not existed in that point in time then the revolution against the Spanish government would have not also happened. It was centuries of Spanish subjugation, but out of all the Filipinos born during that time, Jose Rizal was the only one who pursued the idea of claiming the independence of one's country against the oppressor after learning of the other former countries that fought for their independence against the Spaniards. Some may say that Jose Rizal was just fortunate to be highly educated and got the chance to see what all of his other countrymen does not see, but it is not enough for him to spark a revolution. So, the revolution happened not just because Jose Rizal was born at the right time and in the right place but also of his determination and courage to spread his awareness to his countrymen. 2. Before the colonization of the Spaniards, the people on our lands were part of tribes and it can be compared to a monarchical system of government in which they were also ruled by kings where in it was Datu for us. Here, the leaders have more power than the people. Then, the Spaniards came and colonized us and the people were treated much worse with the people having no power at all against the government. But, during Jose Rizal's time, he saw how the government works in other countries where in the people have more power and say for their country unlike the situation in our country. So, this was something that Jose Rizal pondered on for him to conclude a same idea but for our own country. But independence is rarely given for free that point so it was necessary for a revolution to happen in order to acquire freedom. 3. Yes. Manongdo (A06)

1) After I did a thorough research about Jose Rizal, I have encountered that in all of these challenging circumstances, Filipinos ought to reflect on Rizal's standard of ideals to help in the provision of our own survival battles. Also, Rizal personified and accomplished the finest of Filipino capability, where his victories and efforts, amid the likelihood of loss, spurred the Katipunaneros to ignite the revolution and establish Asia's first sovereign republic given the overwhelming disadvantages. It is still Rizal who inspires these generations to carry on and perhaps complete what he started which is the creation of a republic in which every Filipino is fully independent. As he grew older, this manifested itself in the manner of combating inequities. Rizal rose to prominence as a leader of the Propaganda reform movement, an uncompromising push for reformation that lobbied the peninsular government through its links with liberal Spanish officials. He published nonstop for La Solidaridad, the Propaganda's platform, expecting, as with his fellow Propagandists, that perhaps the Filipinos' cries would indeed be acknowledged by the prerogatives. He wrote two novels in the hopes of attaining his ideals after all other methods had failed, however, these inevitably led to his execution. Rizal was willing to surrender so much for his countrymen, regardless of the guilt of seeing his loved ones suffer. On the other hand, Rizal was one of the first to recognize the Filipino people. He began annotating "Morga's Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas" and scouring the racks of the London Library for volumes on Philippine history in order to demonstrate that Filipinos had such a civilization with their own antecedent to colonialism and that the Filipinos were not inferior to the white man. He was motivated by a passion for the Filipino's worthiness to debunk the notion of the "indolence of the Filipino" and to brand those Filipinos who refused to speak their home language as rotten fish. The very same commitment led him to adopt the general term "indio", with all of its adverse repercussions, and transform it into a symbol of grandeur and elevation. 2) Liberalism, according to Rizal, consists of essentially universal political ideals of civil rights, such as freedom of speech, religious toleration, and private security and protection concepts in the notion of being recognized by authorities globally. At the same time, Rizal viewed the importance and worth of these liberal ideas in stark perspective as they were profoundly opposed to the Philippines' injustices by the authorities and franciscans. Rizal likewise was influenced by Europe's great liberal movements. Also, Rizal pushed for genuine reforms after being tormented by an aggressive administration and shocked by the vast disparities in his nation. Sensing the power of the masses, Rizal joined forces with other Filipino professionals who had been aroused and stirred by Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Rousseau's ardent and powerful writings, and thus started arguably the greatest liberal battle in Philippine history. Of course, Rizal was executed for his views. However, in Filipino roots, the liberal ideas of individual liberty, equal opportunity, and fiscal responsibility discovered great life and better home. Liberals in the Philippines are perennial optimists. While some may regard this feature as a flaw, liberals would see this as an asset. Rizal considers himself to be an optimist, believing that life is overwhelmingly positive. Sure, he perceives evil around, where corruption and impoverishment are two of the worst. He admits the Philippine governments' utter incompetence in comprehensively solving them. However, he feels that each new generation of Filipinos brings optimism and the prospect of a more vigorous and brave resistance. 3) Yes del Mundo (A06)

1.) The decline of the Spanish Empire happened long before Jose Rizal was born. The countries that were colonized by Spaniards like Mexico, Argentina, Peru and other countries were already been accomplished the freedom they wanted from the Spanish Empire. And by the time Jose Rizal was born, we can say that he was born at the right time. The Spaniards has been already lost its colonies because people were fighting for it. And Jose Rizal, was born exactly that time to give inspiration for Filipinos to fight for freedom, to decline for their empire. It’s like saying that the time for Filipinos has already come. He was born at the right place, in the island of Philippines to save the country from the empire of Spaniards, one of the countries that has been left for being colonies of Spain like Cuba and Puerto Rico. Dr. Jose Rizal would be the instrument, the answer for hope that would make revolution and independence of the Philippines because even though he was opposes war, but the influence of his writings and novels will lead to freedom of the Filipinos. 2.) During the rise of liberalism, democracy was becoming famous to people. It is very important to respect people no matter what their nationality. We should accept people despite the color of the skin and the status of their life. This is why the rise of liberalism is very significant to people, and how Dr. Jose Rizal give way to show and express his ideals for the country of the Philippines. Jose Rizal wanted this kind of life to his native Filipinos. He aims for the individual rights and democracy for the people, that is why he left the Philippines and study in Europe wherein he can observe the lives of people living there, the laws, the governments they have in the countries of Europe, for the preparation of liberating the country. This is where he starts to write his two great novels, the Noli Me Tangere and the El Filibusterismo which have made a great inspiration and influence to people longed for the freedom of the Spanish Empire. 3.) 1) The idea of this phrase or sentence revolves around the story of how the Spanish empire is declining before Rizal was born. Rizal was born at the right time because the rise of Liberalism became popular as the world gets ready to transition from monarchy to democracy benefitting the people to have a political and moral philosophy to have human rights such as right to individual, right to liberty, and right to consent of the government and equality before the law. The existential crisis of the Spanish Empire grew more as more countries agree to have a democratic ruling weakening the Spanish empires more. The decline of the Spanish Empire became more apparent as the union of church and state became separate on multiple empires. Jose Rizal was born at the right place because although at the time he experienced colonialism that inspired him to study in other countries learning how to liberate his country and fight independence in his own way. He became the instrument because of his way of thinking and the way he wrote his novel to inspire and fight the colonizers without actually fighting. 2.) The rise of liberalism give way for Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines because he studied on multiple countries that are not colonized by the Spanish empire therefore learning the freedom that other countries have. Jose Rizal with the intention of liberating his country chose the idea of studying on other countries by his German friend and mentor. Rizal made a choice to have his secret mission of observing other countries' lives, cultures, laws, and government of the countries in Europe, in preparation of liberating the Philippines from the Spanish Empire's tyrannical rule. To Rizal's pursuit of knowledge he believed that the nation must be enlightened and united for the country to emerge in the dark period of the past. His fierce love for the country which manifested in his brilliant works, continues to inspire and move the people to be one and be proud of being a Filipino. 3) Yes Cajucom (A07)

1. Dr. Jose P. Rizal was born June 19, 1861, to interpret the statement "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." because Dr. Jose P. Rizal was born during the time when the Spanish empire was decaying their colonies around the world. Nowadays most of us know that Rizal was the one who started a revolution through his penmanship without using any violence for us to attain the independence of Filipino's that we have today. Reading the statement all over again made me think that Dr. Jose P. Rizal was really destined to be our National Hero because of his greatness as a leader to the Filipino citizens. Although we become slaves by on our own country Dr. Jose Rizal didn't hesitate to fought for our independence even if it takes his own life. Dr. Jose Rizal is indeed our National Hero and who was born in the right time, in the right place. 2.The rise of Liberalism has the two concepts, democracy which is a system of government by the people who could choose the right people to govern through election and the second was equality among men and human rights. While liberalism was spreading king and queens gave up their power to the non-royal blooded people to govern their territory. Dr. Jose P. Rizal was born during the emerging of liberalism in the around world. As he learned what liberalism, Dr. Jose P. Rizal was inspired to study and fight for the independence of the Philippines from the Spanish colonizers. He witnessed the unfair and unjust treatment of the Spaniards among the Filipino which made him write his greatest works to uncover the truth which started a revolution and the time we attained the independence we have today. 3. 1. Before Jose Rizal was born Politics are messed up because they fighting each other for power. Because of the rules that the Spanish declared, Filipinos or what they called Indio are suffering from the era. The Spanish people see us Filipinos as weak creatures and don’t have human rights because we are just a low class for them. That’s why many Filipinos live a difficult life and erratic justice system. This is the reason why Jose Rizal was born in a perfect time and place because Jose Rizal is the golden key for the Filipinos to rise up and fight for the Philippines. Jose Rizal loves the country that’s why he wrote a novel that’s about the life and cruelty of the Spanish people. The impact of Jose Rizal's novels wakes up the Filipinos and fight for their freedom and for the country. He fights without using a knife or a sword but he only uses a pen that changes the whole country. 2. The rise of liberalism helps Rizal to express more of his ideas by writing a novel. Jose Rizal's devotion to Fairness, righteousness and civic ideals motivated Jose Rizal to expose and reveal colonialism's brutalities, which resulted in his imprisonment and eventual execution. And we all know how the Filipinos suffer because of the abuses that they experience. Through his various writing, Jose Rizal already shows us his interest in liberal ideas and his writing became his tool that spread the vision of liberal principles for his people, especially the handful of geniuses of the day. Jose Rizal's ideas are so bold and engaging, that he influenced the hearts and minds of countless ordinary people during his lifetime. At the time of Jose Rizal's death in Bagumbayan, his blood watered the seed of liberalism to ensure the generation of the Filipino nation's danger against colonial rule's incompetence, intolerance, and cruelty. 3. 1. A number of components, including economic instability, political corruption, military frailty, and colonial resistance, contributed to the decline of the Spanish Empire during Jose Rizal's lifetime. These elements had a role in Spain eventually losing its colonies and its position as a major power. In comparison to other European countries, the Spanish military was out-of-date and under-equipped, making it difficult for it to maintain control over its colonies. This was especially clear during the Spanish-American War, when the United States' fleet swiftly routed the Spanish navy. In Spain's colonies, such as the Philippines, where nationalism was on the rise, there was more opposition to Spanish control. Anger over Spanish colonial policies as well as a desire for more independence and autonomy propelled this revolt. With high inflation and a growing national debt in the late 19th century, Spain's economy was in collapse. The expenses of sustaining its colonies, such as the Philippines, were another financial burden on the Spanish government. 2. A political and intellectual movement known as liberalism places a strong emphasis on the rights of the individual, equality, and democracy. It first appeared in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, and in the decades that followed, its concepts expanded all over the world. In the Philippines, the growth of liberalism in the late 19th century created an atmosphere that was conducive to the expression of ideas and support of political and social changes by Filipino intellectuals, such as Jose Rizal. Rizal's thoughts and objectives were in line with liberalism's emphasis on individual liberties and rights. In his writings, Rizal, who was greatly influenced by liberal ideologies, criticized the inequities and abuses of Spanish colonial rule. He promoted national consciousness among Filipinos and fought for issues like education, equality, and justice. The Spanish colonial system's inadequacies were exposed by Rizal's books, especially "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," which fueled Filipinos' yearning for reform and independence. Additionally, the Philippine Revolution against Spanish control was influenced by his works. 3. The idea that "Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen" suggests that Jose Rizal was a pivotal figure in the struggle for Philippine independence. When Rizal was born in 1861, the Philippines was still a Spanish colony. He grew up during a time of significant social and political change in the Philippines and Europe. At this time, liberalism and nationalism were becoming more and more popular, and the desire for independence and self-rule among Filipinos was developing. Despite not actively taking part in the Philippine Revolution of 1896, Rizal's works and concepts served as a source of inspiration and inspiration for the rebels. The First Philippine Republic was founded in 1899 as a result of the Philippine Revolution, which also eventually resulted in the recognition of Philippine independence in 1946. 4. Nambio A18 1. Many different factors during the Spanish empire, including the political nature of spain the spaniards struggles to four main reasons like inflation, poor spending choices, taxes and dutch revolt. They fought a war of independence versus spain and they won. Before Rizal was born the spanish empire had already lost all it's colonies except for the philippines. 2. The rise of Liberalism gave way to Jose Rizal because this time he was inspired to write and work of Rizal was all about Liberalism just like his works Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which became famous. As Rizal study in abroad, he witnessed how life will be if there is equal rights and democracy. He then aspired his fellow citizens or Filipinos to experience this. By liberalism, Rizal uset to inspire us Filipinos to fight the revolution of the Philippines. In the Idea that Rizal was born at the right time, in the right place because for me He was a blessing and a hero that encourage Filipinos to fight for their countries not by war but by words. He became the Instrument because He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen. 3. Yes

1. The year Rizal was born, various events related to the emergence of liberalism were said to have occurred around the world. Slavery was abolished, the monarchy was replaced by democracy, and the Spanish empire was crumbling, according to records. With all of this said, it has been demonstrated that people all around the world are already battling for their freedoms and have a strong feeling of patriotism for their nations. They seem to be waiting for someone to light the secret spark of freedom in everyone's heart in the Philippines. Rizal was the ideal instrument for the Filipinos to eventually achieve their goal of independence. Rizal was the ideal instrument for the Filipinos to eventually achieve their goal of independence. He exudes a popular and powerful image, which not only adds to the reasons why he was the perfect instrument at the moment but also elevated himself and his viewpoints. He also arrived at the opportune time, since the Spaniards already aging and their authority was waning in comparison to their empire's rise. 2. Liberalism's rise was eye-opening for all Filipinos, notably Dr. Jose Rizal because it advocates democratic principles. It enables him to convey his opinions through his works, such as novels, articles, and other forms of writing that contain information that would motivate Filipinos to fight for change in their country and way of life. As a result, in the era of liberalism, it is easier for someone like him to write without leaving out information since Rizal is brave enough to convey his thoughts for his nation. Furthermore, as the decline of the Spanish Empire also was crucial, Rizal gained new ideas and thoughts on how he could transmit attention, information, and wisdom to Filipinos by gathering ideas from other countries. Also, liberalism is a means of welcoming and respecting all people, regardless of their ethnicity, status, or views. As a result, liberalism's presence has offered hope and change to the Philippines, as well as the rest of the world. 3. Yes Agraviador (A07)

1. The world scenario during 1800 was divided into empires where some men were free and some men were not. There were several empires like the French, British, Dutch, and Russian empires. Before 1861 many countries were colonized by powerful countries. In Russia they followed a serfdom system where the private land owners get 1/3 of the harvest from serfs who tilled their land. There was also slavery in America, where black slaves were kept in their home and plantation. In Mexico the president should be a mestizo looking descendants of the Spanish colonizers. After 1861, events related to liberalization roused. There was appeasement of 2.3 million farmers in Russia. Czar Alexander II abolishes the serfdom system in the whole Russian empire. The American president Lincoln abolishes slavery in America. It was in 1861 when Jose Rizal was born. While liberalism was spreading in the west, the Spanish empire started to decay. The rise of liberalism and the decline of Spanish empire happened between 1861 and 1896. The probable reason in the decline of the Spanish empire were due to corruption of colonial government, the union between church and state and the unjust treatment of the people. They were looked down by the Spanish colonizers like in the Philippines, the Filipinos were called "Indios" by the Spaniards. As Rizal grew up, his mind was full of ideas about Philippine independence. He left the Philippines and he became an Illustrado. He wrote 2 novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Rizal was born at the right time, the right place and he was instrumental in staging a revolution to free the Philippines from Spanish colonialization. 2. The rise of liberalism gave way for Jose Rizal to express his ideals for the Philippines to gain freedom. The rise of liberalism brought transition from monarchy to democracy. Kings gave up their powers to govern to non royal blooded people in the parliament. The leadership's authority were given to ordinary people. Democracy became popular and the concepts of equality of men and upholding the human rights spread rapidly in Europe. Jose Rizal was inspired by the countries like Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and other western countries. The natives in their colonies slowly learned that the Spain lost its control of its empire and they started to revolt against the Spaniards. Jose Rizal could not stand the corruption of the Spanish government, the union of church and state, and the unjust treatment of the people in our country. That is why he wanted to end the Spanish regime in the Philippines. Lava, A07

1. In my perspective, "Rizal was born at the right time and in the right place. He would be the instrument that would make the revolution and independence of the Philippines happen." means that his time was the perfect time for the independence of our country. As stated in our lecture, when he was born, the Spanish Empire was gradually declining. Most of the countries that they invaded started to have a revolution against them. Moreover, Spaniards also experienced corruption and union of the church and state that makes another reason for them to lose their powers in their territories. Although the Filipinos at that time didn't know how abusive the Spaniards were throughout our country, Dr. Jose P. Rizal's writing works, especially his two novels, opened their eyes to start a revolution against the Spanish government. He and his works truly became an instrument to set us free from the Spaniards. 2. The rise of Liberalism around the world and Dr. Jose P. Rizal's chance to study abroad had helped him to see and know how the other countries had fought for their rights and democracy against the colonizers. These things and his love for his country motivates him to express his ideas through his writing works especially his two novels Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo to make the Filipinos realize that the Spaniards are using them and abusing their powers against our country. His works became a spark or an eye opener for the Filipinos at that time to fight for the rights of every Filipino and set our country free from the abusive and oppressive power of the Spaniards. His experiences abroad where liberalism started, inspired and opened his eyes for him to express his ideas and love for our country to have the freedom that the Filipino deserves. 3. Yes. 1. Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero, is widely known as the one who acted as a catalyst for the Philippine revolution which eventually led to the independence of the Philippines. The idea that Jose Rizal was born at the right time in the right place came from the fact that he was born in a country under the declining Spanish empire while the idea of liberalism is rising. To have a better visualization, I will compare the scenario to an engine. The rise of liberalism in the west as well as the downfall of the Spanish empire shaped the idealism of independence of our country and manufactured the Philippine revolution engine. Even though there are a lot of Philippine revolution engines manufactured, the engines would not function. The Philippine revolution is not occurring because it lacks a certain component, and that specific missing component is Jose Rizal. Jose Rizal is the fuel of the Philippine revolution engine. Even though every component of an engine and air is available, without fuel the engine would not undergo combustion. 2. With the rise of liberalism, the idea that if independence is achievable by others, then there is a chance that anyone else in the world can also achieve independence. This idea would soon evolve into the question of how we could achieve independence. I think Jose Rizal sought to answer that question. With this, the rise of liberalism served as a platform on which Jose Rizal had the opportunity to express his ideals for the Philippines. His education abroad helped strengthen his idealism through learning about the different types of cultures in other countries. Jose Rizal’s background in liberalism helped construct the ideals for the independence of the Philippines. I believed that not only Jose Rizal but also a lot of Filipino citizens had the idea of independence for the Philippines. The difference between Jose Rizal with other Filipino citizens is that he is successful in utilizing the rise of liberalism to express his ideals for our country. 3. Yes. TORRES (A01)
