1) The biggest early influence that most people had in their lives comes from their family. From the way a person think, act, their beliefs, philosophy is life, etc. , the family is a big part on a person's identity and that apply this Jose Rizal as well. With the Rizal Family's case, our national hero had the influences of a disciplinarian but an industrious mother, Teodora Alonzo, whom which he inherited important values such a practical temperament, stoicism, self-sacrifice, and the fondness of poetry while also being a dreamer. He also had an exemplar model of a father, Francisco Mercado, whom he inherited the values of dignity, self-respect, serenity and seriousness. All of those inherited values along with his siblings and parents, made it seem like he's a hero in the making and a big part of what makes Jose Rizal incredible as a hero is because of the application of all the things he learned from his family. 2) Using Jose Rizal and his family as an example, most people might think that his family was a big part of his success and accomplishments and technically that is right, their family was well-off enough to give Jose Rizal a comfortable life, moreover he was raised by such respectable parents, but at the end of the day Jose Rizal's success was because he choose to apply what he learned from his family and lend his hand for our country. Jose Rizal could have just simply turn a blind eye and live off his life comfortably for he achieved a lot already, but instead he choose to do what he can for the people and for the future. With that said, I believe that Jose Rizal himself was his key to his own success for he choose to do what he think is right. As for us individuals, our family do play a big part of who we are but at the end of the day, we choose what we want to do and it's up to us to apply want we learn, whether we raised by blood related people or not, our choices in life as individuals is our own key to success. 3) Yes. 1.Doctor Jose Rizal's family had a significant influence on his development as a hero. They acted as a lens through which he could see more clearly and comprehend more deeply the meaning of love for others, for the country, and for the principles that he and his family hold dear. Doctor Jose Rizal's family influenced him from an early age, instilling in him a sense of what was good and wrong in the world. In order to push himself farther and find a solution that will serve the greater good, he looked to his family as his initial source of inspiration. Jose Rizal recognized from his early years as a child doctor that violence was never an option. He discovered the power of words and used them to take a stance and serve as an inspiration to others to fight for themselves while also caring for our fellow Filipinos. 2.Yes, I believe that the way a person was raised by their parents has a significant impact on his or her future achievement. According to research, parents can and do have an impact on their children. Parental influence on children stems from their morals, habits, and other behavioral characteristics. This results in the development of an individual who has the confidence and courage to pursue their goals in any field, regardless of whether the field is dominated by the opposite gender, or whether the field is an unfamiliar one where they still need to adjust and learn. It is also likely that their parental influence will have an effect on their beliefs, thinking, and the way they deal with stress and how they deal with difficulties. 3.Yes (MORFE, A01)

SALIBIADA (A07) Among all the people who have had the biggest influence to Rizal in making him a hero, is his mother, Teodora Alonso. It was she who opened his eyes and heart to the world around him, with all his soul and poetry, as well as his fanaticism and injustice and he became a greatest national hero because he fought for freedom in a silent but a powerful way. his love for the Philippines was evident in almost every action he took. No, we are the one who make our success and the decisions we make in our life . The only factor in our success is how our parents raised us. We are the one who make our decisions in life, we should not depend on increasing in our success. Many people who grew up in poverty and they become successful.

1. I think his family is instrumental for Jose Rizal into making him a hero since his family is his inspirations. Let us imagine that we are the one who is Jose Rizal, we suffer, we have plenty of problems, but we know we have our family that will help us no matter what happens and no matter what the problem is. Family is always there for us. The problems there family suffers, and the problems they went through. Also, I think that is why Jose Rizal is very focus on his achievements in order to help his siblings and his parents to rise. He focuses on his studies, he even writes books. And I think those are enough reasons that Jose Rizal's family is very instrumental for making him the National hero of the Philippines. It is because his family is his inspirations. 2. Yes. I think that an individual's success is dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents because like for example you are raised as the son or daughter of a popular family or let us say a royal family. You will become the prince or princess because you are the son or the daughter of a royal family even though you do not want to become a prince or a princess. It is because your life depends on how your family wants you to be with in the future. When you are raised by your parents who is a king and the queen, when you grow up, you will take care of their palace and you will be successful on becoming a king or a queen. This is my example on how an individual's success is dependent on how you are raised by your parents. 3. Yes. Ligutan (A06)

1. Rizal's family was one of the reasons of his successes and greatest achievements in life. He made them his inspiration for becoming a great person with good characteristics. Looking at Jose Rizal's family background, they all have done a marvelous job for our country. Some of them join the revolution, for example his brother Paciano became a general during the Philippine Revolution and he made the Spaniards surrender. Also, Rizal's parents served a great importance in his life. His mother Teodora Alonzo was a mother of culture and religion, and Rizal inherited self-sacrifice and fondness of poetry on his mother. His father Francisco Mercado was an exemplary model for his honesty and industry, and he inherited a profound feeling of dignity and seriousness. Rizal's love for his family is infinite, he loves them more than his life. That is why he sacrificed his life not just for his family but for our beloved country. 2. For me, the way that we are raised by our parents plays a key role in our success in life because how we are raised reflects on our doings and having a good relationship with others. Everything starts at home, we learn how to walk, to talk, to run, and any other things that our parents teach us. They said that our first teacher is our parents, and I agree with that because everything we learned from the first place came from them. We learn how to be polite with others, respect, and all the good doings, they teach that to us. Also, they said that your personality reflects with your parents, what you see in them is also what you are learning and doing. So, our success is dependent on how we are raised by our parents. If we get successful it is because we are raised properly, but if we fail, maybe it is because there is something that our parents missed to teach us. 3. Yes. (TABAFUNDA, A06)

1. When a child is born, it is the duty and responsibility of the parents to teach their child or children the proper knowledge and equip them with sufficient skills as they grow up. In the case of Jose Rizal, his mother, Dona Teodora, impacted him the most with her meticulous teachings and some inspiration due to her complications. Likewise, Dona Teodora was Rizal's first teacher wherein he was taught the basics such as writing and reading. He was taught countless valuable lessons when he was young in which he learned to value time. As a result, he was always punctual in his classes when he studied abroad, thus, resulting in an outstanding performance in his academics. Rizal's mother also taught him how to be generous and obedient. From his mother, he also learned the injustices imposed on us by the Spaniards which ignited his heart to set fire his strength in giving us Filipinos the freedom we deserve. 2. The success of an individual is basically dependent on oneself since there are always alternative ways to gain the resources a person needs to learn and raise oneself independently to success. The influence of the parents on an individual is merely a factor that impacts one's life on whether a person should receive the resources in advance or not. However, this may be interpreted by others in which I am being ignorant of the scenario or situation the person is going through, the environment, or the health condition of the person was born with. Thus, given with the external factors affecting the person in achieving success in life does not mean that the person should work independently. There are also other people out there willing to help us. We just need to find them and ask for their help. Importantly, it is our duty to determine the good and the bad. In conclusion, it us who decide on what our next step should be as we climb the stairs to success. The people willing to help us will be our guide in this life. 3. Yes. MANAPAT, A01

1) Rizal's family was instrumental into making him a hero because they were his first teacher, inspiration and drive. Also, let us not forget that some of Rizal's own family members were part of the Philippine Revolution which makes them not a hindrance on him becoming a key player of the Philippine Revolution. His mother being his first teacher was an important step on him becoming a hero because her mother was the one solidified the foundation of not just knowledge for Rizal but also his perspective and ideals in his life and country. His family's relation with the friars and how they were mostly entangled with them became a part of sparking more of his ideals and the spirit of nationalism for his country. His family also supported Jose Rizal in every way considering they have visited Jose Rizal when he was detained in Dapitan. Also his family was very dear to Rizal which makes him want the best for his family. I think these were the ways on how Rizal's family became important on making him a hero. 2) I do think that how a child was raised by their parents can play a huge part on how successful an individual can be. However, I do not believe that how a child was raised is dependent on how successful a child can be. I think that it can only play a part but not dependent is because there are some children who became successful even with a traumatizing and stressful upbringings. I think more an individual's success was more dependent on the children than the parent itself since the one choosing their path in the future was the child itself. However, we should not discredit all those children whose paths to success were tarnished due to their bad upbringings and those people who were still traumatized by their past. Since, we should not forget that how a child raised plays a huge role on the future character and choices of a child. So parents should be careful on raising their children since this can play a huge part on their child's future. 3) Yes AMISTOSO, A07

1.) I believe there are two main reasons why Rizal’s family has been a great instrument in making Jose a hero. First is because, without proper upbringing, he might have perceived the world differently. It was stated that Teodora Alonzo was calm and caring, and Rizal got a lot of his characteristics from his mother including the trait of being stoic and self-sacrificing. Furthermore, his father was a serene and dignified man, which Jose also probably inherited. But setting aside the inheritance of traits, the way they raised him must have influenced the way he carried himself and expressed his ideas. The second reason is that Jose Rizal was sent to another country for his education, and we know that his being an illustrado greatly contributed to how he viewed the world. Seeing other countries achieve their rightful independence, he started writing his literary works that ultimately spread awareness to his fellow Filipinos. With his words reaching almost all of the oppressed, people were inspired to make a drastic change to their way of living which consequently resulted in a revolution. All of these combined to make him the hero we know today. 2.) Personally, I believe that people are ever-changing. A huge part of us greatly depends on the people that surround us, especially during our earliest age. Speaking of our earliest stage, the ones with whom we interact the most are our parents or anyone who is tasked to raise us. They become our first teachers; from learning to speak, count, stand, etc. We are merely a blank slate from the moment we are born, and we are constantly fed, figuratively and metamorphically, by our environment. As we grow old, we interact with other people other than our relatives, and they teach us lessons not taught by our parents. An individual’s success is subjective. What may be a success for one might not be considered a success for others. But one thing is for sure, our personality has a lot of say on our definition of it. So although I think an individual’s success largely depends on how he or she was raised by his parents, the interrelation of the environmental factors and the human interactions sums up one’s personality. I’d say personality is a decisive factor in our success since this epitomizes the principles by which we live, the goals we set for ourselves, and the drive we hold to achieve them. 3.) 1.) Dr. Jose Rizals' family influenced him to become a successful individual and become a national hero. I consider Dr. Jose Rizal lucky to have such an amazing family. Rizal's family is a very wealthy family and also considered as one of the largest family in their time. The most influence on Rizal's development is his mother Teodora Alonzo. Teodora Alonzo is Rizal's first teacher and from her, he learned how to read and write. He also learned how to improve oneself and how to value hard-earned money. He learned so much from his mother and her mother is very supporting to him. He is also very close to his siblings and his siblings are also very supporting to him. Dr. Jose Rizal grew up with a supporting family and I think it really helped Dr. Jose Rizal to become our national hero. 2.) Yes, I do think that an individual's success is very dependent on how he or she is treated and raised by his or her parents. The proper role of a parent is to encourage and assist their child to have a better future. Parents are responsible on influencing their child's values, and to nurture their relationship with their child. Some individuals don't receive the proper affection from their parents and instead receive anger, disapproval, and hate. This can cause unwanted emotions that result to depression. I understand that some parents struggle to adjust to the demands of parenting their child to become a successful individual but they need to understand that their child needs them in order to grow. I do consider myself lucky because I have two loving parents that works hard for me to have a comfortable life and to grow into a successful person and I appreciate and love them a lot. 3.) 1.) Dr. Jose Rizal has a big family. He has ten siblings, and most of it is women that clearly, he cares about. His family is the main reason for what he became, his siblings especially his parents shape his good character. Even though they are not the perfect family, as we all may seem but there are still secrets lies within. But despite of it, he still became the National Hero. And, I think, of all the members of his family that has the most influential to him is his parents. In his father, Francisco Mercado is the feeling of dignity, the self-respect, serenity and poise, and also the seriousness. In his mother, Teodora Alonzo being a disciplinarian, a mother of culture, is influence of her practical temperament, stoicism, and self-sacrifice. These things build the character of Jose Rizal, and his development as a person. It is his parents especially his mother that open his eyes and heart to the world, to the Filipino that help us lead to freedom. 2.) No. I believe that an individual’s success is not depends on how a person was raised by the parents, or how he was surrounded by his family. A person’s success comes with a great passion, ambition, desired, and a goal to life. But, the way of a parent on how they are raising their children are greatly contributed to that person’s character. The parents shape the mind of a young child into something, they are always the very first teacher of their children that teaches them to read, to write, to have a good moral, guiding them until their maturity. They may be the inspiration and strength, but the aim for a success is definitely only depends to the person itself only. Dr. Jose Rizal’s success was because of himself. He aims freedom for his fellow citizen. His novels were a success that makes it very influential and inspirational during his time that we all know led to revolution. And it is because how passionate he is to what he is doing as a person and as a hero. 3.) Yes. Balagtas (A06)

Rizal's family had the greatest influence on his development as an individual and as a hero. They were the people who had first opened his eyes and heart to the world around him, with all of its passion and beauty, along with its intolerance and injustice. Rizal proved to be his mother's son, a piece off the old block, throughout his young life, as he continually strived to preserve trust in the lessons that they taught him. He learned about the importance of self-improvement from his family as well, and as a result, when he grew older, he worked hard to understand the logic of mathematics, to write poems, to sketch and sculpt, and to paint. They also instilled in him the value of hard-earned money, as well as the importance of thrift and self-denial, and depriving oneself and putting aside a portion of one's earnings as a form of insurance against life's whims. Parents do have a great deal of influence on their children's success, though I'm not sure if that really holds true in the present era. However, it's important to remember that your parents were once young and had aspirations that most of them never realized. As a result, most parents hope that their children will assist them in achieving their goals. As a result, they ensure that their children receive the appropriate education. The majority of their considerations are based on their own personal life experiences as children. Most of them made obvious mistakes that changed the path of their lives. They don't really want their children's futures to be ruined by the same thing that happened to them. Parents have a great influence because they brought you into this world and raised you from childhood to maturity. They are well-versed in your strengths and flaws. As a result, they are continuously on the lookout for any behavior that could indicate a replay of some of their previous experiences. It also included your maturity level as well as your sense of personal responsibility for your own actions. Yes (MARCELO,A01)

For a person be able to fight a war through writing is already superb, Rizal is known for leading a non-violent reform society because of his leadership skills that was instilled by his family. Rizal’s family is one of the reasons on how he became a hero and how he fought a war gracefully. His mother, Teodora Alonso, had the greatest influence on Rizal’s development. She was the one who opened Jose Rizal’s eyes and heart to the world and around him. Teodora Alonso gave him sufficient knowledge to become independent in his future. She taught Rizal to value life, the primacy of improving oneself, the value of working, and a lot more. Her parenting was the reason why Jose Rizal has the knowledge and strength to have the ability to write literary works. The values Teodora Alonso taught Jose Rizal is impactful to the point that Jose Rizal was able to fight a war through writing. For me, an individual’s success is dependent on how he or she was raised by her parents. Parents has a strong impact on how a child will act in their adulthood stage or in their future. If the parent shows negativity to their children, the child has a strong chance to inherit the trait the parents shown. It is why parents has the responsibility to equip their child with a step-by-step process for dealing with challenges to prepare them for adulthood. Parents will also influence the level of education or training that their children may achieve, the knowledge they have about work and different occupations, the beliefs, and attitudes they must show while working, and the motivation they may need to succeed. A child cannot support itself that is why their success will be dependent on how their parents raised them. Parenting is important since it ensures healthy growth and development that may lead to success in life. Yes DACANAY, A01

I think that Jose Rizal's family just like us became instrumental in a way that he is living a normal life with normal problems. Same with us through ups and downs, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, your family is there with you with this journey of your life. Jose Rizal is lucky because he has a lot of siblings to be with and to open up whatever issues or problems that he has. In this case, the good thing is that they both learn from each other and you are growing up and maturing together. I know that in some instances I made decisions in my life that is not acceptable or my family may not agree with, as same for Rizal, when he made decisions in writing a book that would certainly cause something, we all know that no matter what, our family supports us. In some cases there are people that were successful because of their parents. The mother and father raised well their child or children. But not all individual's success is good and worthy of applause. Because some parents are doing dirty things and illogical decisions just to make their son or daughter successful which is wrong and not organic. Although I think that an individual's success feel different without the influence of the parents. Because you will see how smart and intelligent the person is. You will see that the person is really striving on its own which is very inspirational and a great motivation for each and every one of us. No matter how difficult and hard the life is, a person will find a way to live whatever it takes. So I think that an individual's success is dependent based on how he or she was raised and independent based on his or her own, Yes LEBRUDO, A07

An individual success is not dependent whether they have been supervised with their parents or not, just like Rizal even their family has a chaotic background it did not stop him making a change in the country, not because his families background he became and changed the country it because of the people who revolved around him and help and inspire him and him being curious on the surroundings making him the hero we have today, just because a person have a bad background it does not make him/her have a bad future nor success. Rizal's family became a instrument making him a hero by his parents, Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso, provided a nurturing environment that enhance his intellectual and moral development. They instilled in him values such as love for education, patriotism, and social responsibility, they even help RIzal in his conquest to free the FIlipino citizens at the hand of the Spaniards such as his 3 sisters who knitted the national flag, Paciano fights the Spanish in Laguna, not only Rizal has emotional support by the Filipino but also with his parents. He even did the same to them by setting their heart ablaze and inspired them to be freed against the SPaniards. Yes MANGUI B43

1. Jose Rizal gain experiences in life and because of his family, he became our national hero. Especially her mother Teodora Alonso Realonda that has a big contribution to Jose Rizal that lead him to be successful as a person. His mother is the first one who taught him how to read and pray, and the one who encouraged him to write poetry. Because of his leadership qualities, which were being taught by his relatives, who've become role models to Rizal's personal character, Jose Rizal was renowned to influence a peaceful reform society. Teodora Alonso Realonda never failed to educate Jose Rizal because she always reads him a piece of literature that has a moral lesson. Because of his family, he grew up a loving and caring person. Jose Rizal's family Supported his ambitions and goals which leads him to be not just a person but a hero of our nation. 2. I think that the individual’s success is dependent on how their parents raised them and how they treat them. Because parents are the ones who motivate their children to study or to reach their goals. Parents that show some interest in their child and will to teach makes their child to be inspired and be more productive. Because your parent’s expectation leads you to be more productive and motivated to reach their expectation. Parents are the one who helps us to fix our mindset to be intelligent, and creative and avoid failure at all cost so that we maintain the sense of being a skilled person and smart. Parents not just help us fix our mindset but they help us to grow our mindset too, seeing challenges and failures don’t mean that we are un-intelligence but it helps us to springboard for growth and for improving our existing abilities. 3. 1. Family is the most instrumental and significant thing in a person's life. They provide joy and inspiration to everyone, especially in the Philippines, where the people are family-oriented. The values and teachings, even the experiences of Dr. Jose Rizal's family, honed him in becoming our greatest hero of all time. They show Rizal the values such as integrity, honesty, loyalty, and selflessness that he exhibits to the Philippines. He is a man of honor and an intelligent person, and he inherited these gifts from his parents, especially his mother. Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, was the one who had the most effect on his growth as a person. She is his first teacher and the one who opened his eyes and heart to the world around him. He learned about obedience from her and how to be brave, which is also seen in his brother and other siblings. Overall, his family becomes his inspiration to become a good person. His family showed respect and courage to each of them and I think that is the real reason why Rizal became one of the most generous, humble, and distinguished heroes in our country. 2. The determination of one's success is not dictated by anyone, even if it is one's parents. Our parents are there to guide us to lead us in the right direction so that we will know where to walk and learn our ways. However, once we walk, we are the ones who will decide our paths, and there is no easy way to distinguish this path, for everyone has a different one. A person's success is their triumph. They are the ones maintaining and creating it and should not be dependent because of how they are raised by their parents. The values and teachings that a person inherited from their parents will serve as the tools for accomplishing a successful life but they will never be the reason why they become successful. The real reason for that success was their hard work, self-confidence, and perseverance to stay humble and fight until they reach their goals. Success is a general word, and no one can claim that victory other than yourself, for you made that possible for yourself and to be shared with others, especially with your loved ones. 3. Yes. 1. Dr. Jose Rizal’s family for me has a big contribution to Dr. Jose Rizal becoming a national hero, because if it wasn’t for them Dr. Jose Rizal would not even exist. Aside from that, every mother has a contribution to any child’s achievement. Furthermore, Dr Jose Rizal’s family has also been through alot and judging from Dr. Jose Rizal’s achievement I could confidently say that they raised Dr. Jose Rizal very well. From what I saw in the lecture I would assume that the family of Dr. Jose Rizal is supportive if not proud of Dr. Jose Rizal’s doings and achievement. For me that is very important because having a supportive family provides a big morale boost to any child. The fact that some of Dr. Jose Rizal’s family members having an active participation in the revolution is just very admirable and i could say that even his family needs to receive a lot of credits on Dr Jose Rizal becoming a hero. 2. Yes, because the environment that a child was born in would be the mold of the child and has a very big impact on the man or woman that the child would become in the future. Every experience that the child would remember is a very crucial part of any aspect of any child development. As we all know a baby often mimics what he or she sees in their environment so i strongly believe that the way a person was raised would be a big factor on the person that the child will be in the future. Having said that, it does not mean that in order to raise a child very well or raise a child that will be a hero in the future, you need a perfect household or family, it simply means that we need to pay close attention to our children and educate them very well. 3. 1.) For me there is no need for a perfect family in making him a hero, everyone has their own family problems and no one’s families are perfect. The details precisely that made me miss a lot of things or information about our national hero dr. Jose Rizal. I don’t appreciate much back then but right now I am grateful that we had the opportunity to focus on his life because of this course. I want to be educated by him because he is an eye opener as he experienced and encountered a lot of challenges in life. Jose Rizal is fun to be with because he is intelligent and has a good sense of humor. Jose Rizal also know his stand and how to argue without physically hurting anyone but he said his arguments through speech or words with a pen. 2.) I think no because everyone has their own reason and ambition. It is always yourself or myself who create the success that you want to achieve not your friends or your parents it is always yourself. Like Jose Rizal did back then he have suffered a lot because of the injustices, humiliation, being disrespected and discriminated in our own land by the Spaniards which hurts the most. Jose Rizal always makes a point that education is the best gift that we could ever receive because this is where we can have a power in all the aspects in life as our knowledge leads to be respected and makes us richer in health, relationships and also money which is essential to help us survive in this life to make a legacy or meaningful life as it gives us purpose. 3.) 1. Rizal’s family is instrumental into making him a hero for the following reasons; the main reason being that his parents are not just educated but also has a good economic and financial status. We can solidify that claim as Rizal’s house is located beside the church and or near at the center of the town, this shows his family’s affluence and power. Not only that, they also have lands to farm for their family business. And because of that, we can easily determine that all of his family members are to be well-read and well-educated. And for that reason, it is not surprising that Rizal became a person leaning on reading and learning. Third, Rizal inherited his parent’s qualities, and some of these are his dignity, self-respect, dreamer, and fondness of poetry that can all be seen on his works. Lastly, as his family is wealthy, he has gone through many places locally and even abroad to learn, and for that reason he has the information that may be said to be unparallel from the others. 2. No, I do not think that an individual’s success is entirely dependent on how he/she was raised by his parents for the following reasons; first, it can be said that it is a factor especially on the time of the person’s childhood, however there are many cases that shown that a person can change and differ to how the parents pathed him to be. An example of this was Oprah Winfrey, a person who was born into poverty to a single teenage mother. She was not properly taken care of especially on her childhood since she was molested at an early age and even gotten pregnant at age 14. This is an example that a person like her is most likely pathed to be a lower class for the rest of her life. However, she persevered, work hard and pour a lot of efforts on her life that she became the person that we knew now, a billionaire, a host, a producer, an artist, author and more. With that being said, the second reason is that a person’s success is highly dependent to how that person pours his passion and effort to have step on that feat. Every people have the opportunity to be successful, it might be more or less depending on how much the parents’ ability to give those chances. Some of these opportunities are schooling, money, stability, and support that give us more edge than others, however it can be said that not every person utilizes it properly. And thus, an individual’s success is dependent to himself, to his abilities and to how much he utilizes his opportunities and privilege. 3. Yes. MEDALLA, A06

One of the instrument that Jose Rizal making him a hero of our country, First is his Mother Teodora Alonzo who influence Jose Rizal in development as a person. Teodora Alonzo is the one who opened Jose Rizal eyes and heart to the world around him. Jose Rizal's Family really loves our country, for example her sister Paciano Rizal who became a General during Philippine Revolution and also his niece Delfina Herbosa the daughter of her Sister Lucia Rizal is the the one of the three ladies who sew the first Philippine Flag her contribution to our country is really appreciated. We can see that even though their Jose Rizal family is not perfect but we can see their appreciation for each other which other people will really look up to and respect. Jose Rizal had a big impact to making him a hero. For me Yes, First of all the one who formed your development as a person is your parents. If a person is raised by the parents who had love also how to give respect to others it is the big impact to the development of the child as a person. I think if a child is not raised well by a parent, maybe other people will not respect him. Because nowadays other people respect you it depends how you treat them. If your parents raised you well and teach you a good moral you will not hard to give respect to others. The success of the person is the success of the parents too. Gutierrez (A01)

1. How was Rizal's family instrumental into making him a hero? - Dr. Rizal's family values were the foundation of all the courage and knowledge he shared with the world. Also, distant relatives and ancestors have proven that heroism and leadership was innate in their blood. On top of that, the life Pepe and his siblings that were given by their parents demonstrated how much Doña Teodora and Don Francisco valued their family. Because she was his first teacher, the way Dr. Jose Rizal's mother raised him influenced the majority of his realistic point of view. Her gentleness and serene personal qualities reflected how Jose Rizal responded to the cry of our motherland during the Spaniards' colonization. Furthermore, his father's honesty and the value of integrity that he exhibited through his actions became his inspiration to do what he had to do. In addition, due to the never-surrendering guidance of his only brother Paciano, the mature Pepe was able to find the trigger that ignited the fire in his heart to fight against the injustices that are happening to his country and family. Truly and undeniably, his family had a massive effect on him, and it was also what shaped the "hero" inside of him. 2. Do you think that an individual's success is dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents? Explain. - Growing up in a Filipino family, I was taught that my characteristics reflect on how my parents raised me, and my mother and father instilled in me values that I was reminded to never forget. However, as I grew older and matured, my viewpoint on this issue shifted. Due to the life experiences of the people I met, I realized that my parents' methods of raising me could never define the success that I worked so hard for. Because I witnessed a person's success without a parent or anyone guiding him along the way. However, there have been instances where an individual who was given everything was unable to channel all of his parents' efforts toward a good cause. Furthermore, I was constantly reminded that every human being has personal choices to make and options to consider and that these people's success should not be attributed to their parents. The concept of owing a child's success to his parents should already be dismissed because this type of Filipino belief is never helpful in motivating children to achieve their full potential. After all, it puts some strain on them. 3. Yes BREQUILLO ,A06

1.) Rizal's family were part and had an active participation in the revolution and Philippine history but I think among his relative/family the one who influence him most is his mother Teodora Alonzo she was known as the mother of culture and religion a sacrificing, loving and industrious wife, his first teacher, his mother was the one who opened his heart and eye to the real world his living in and the injustice system that Filipino people experienced at the hands of the Spaniards. Jose Rizal inherited many good qualities from his mother and family, and also how Paciano encourage him to study abroad and learn new things and how he saw that there is more outside his country that also became his eye opener to tell people through his novel to fight for liberty. This are Rizal's stepping stone to revive his hidden heroism, the things he learned and grew up with helped him shape and build a character of a true hero and this is how his family had been instrumental into making him a hero. 2.) Yes, for me an individual's success is dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents, as we all know that not all parents the same but they are the first one who will teach their children and mold them on what they will be in the future or when they grow up. Parents are the one who equip their child with a step by step process and help them to learn new things that they may face in this world. Just like how Teodora Alonzo raised, shape and taught Jose Rizal many good things and resulting to be an amazing hero like him, so I think that individuals success is also dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents the traits that you will first learn inside your house before you learn new and different things not only in school but also outside especially in this world. 3.) 1. I think Rizal has a character that stood out. As we all know Teodora Alonso, the mother of Rizal was a very kind person and she is religious, a mother of culture, and willing to sacrifice. On the other hand, Francisco Mercado, the father of Rizal, was an exemplary model for his honesty and we all know that he is intelligent. I think Rizal had all of this character himself, and having a lot of siblings does test his strong character because he doesn't have a perfect family, her sibling Conception died at only the age of 3 and the other died at giving birth. It was a hard situation for Rizal, but he remained strong for his family. The family Rizal had a strong character that made them a hero, especially Jose Rizal, Pasiano Rizal became a general of the Revolution as he made the Spaniards surrender after a siege in the church. And they also have an intelligent character, Jose's family had their own business as they planted the lands with trees and rice for the Dominican friars. They have this mindset that can benefit them as a family and help Rizal have this mindset that can benefit them as a family and help Rizal do have this mindset that can benefit them as a family, and help Rizal to be our hero. 2. I think it does not always depend on how your parents raised you, you can still be successful yourself even though your family is not, I believe that we individuals can work hard in order to have our goal in life. I personally knew a lot of people that became successful even though they came from a poor families, they still managed to be hard-working people and did their very best to be successful people in the future. Personally, I am really proud of my mom for being that person, she raised us properly and gave us a good life. I can not thank her enough for sacrificing just for us to have a comfortable life, and I think I am really lucky. We do not need to depend on our parents just for us to be successful, all we need to do is strive hard as an individual and always pray to God to guide us on our own path. 3. YES BALBENTA, A01

1.) Rizal, just like any other of us many factors that shaped him to become a national hero. The lessons that were instilled by his parents when he was young or the lessons that he got from his experiences in life. But Teodora Alonso, his mother, was the person who had the biggest impact on his development as a person. A wonderful woman with sophisticated culture, literary genius, business acumen, and Spartan women's tenacity. Teodora was Rizal's first teacher, and it was from her that he learned to read and, as a result, to appreciate reading as a means of learning and productively spending one's time. She also inculcates in him the importance of manual labor, independence, entrepreneurship, charity, and giving help to the less fortunate. Above all, he learned about obedience from her, as evidenced by the story of the moth who was burned by the flame because he ignored his mother moth's caution not to approach too close to the flame. With this, Rizal possessed a wealth of information and experiences that broadened his view of society under the Spanish colonization. He has observed racial prejudice, injustice, and oppression, which has sparked his inner patriotic passion for his motherland's liberty. 2.) For me, an individual's success is dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents. For example, if someone is born into a wealthy family but grows up in an atmosphere that isn't very nurturing, where he isn't shown love and care, and where he isn't always encouraged, he will have little desire to do great things in life. As a result, a positive and encouraging attitude to someone's upbringing can have a good impact and catalyze his development. However, we cannot blame our failures on our upbringing or surroundings. We can all tell the difference between the two after a certain point in our life, and it is ultimately our intelligence and imagination that determines our success. "Dedication pays off," just like what they say, without a question, putting in the effort to achieve something in life is critical to one's success. Thus, how an individual was raised and his environment has a significant impact on his or her achievement. 3.) Yes, I have watched the entire video. - CERES,A01

1) Dr. Jose Rizal inherited his stoicism, practical temperament, love of poetry, and self-sacrifice from his mother, while his father instilled in him a great sense of dignity, seriousness, serenity, poise, and self-respect. His mother was his first educator, and it was from her that he learned to read, as a result, he appreciated reading as a means of learning and productively spending one's time. It was also her who first opened his eyes and heart to the world surrounding him, with all of its soul and poetry, as well as, all of its injustice and bigotry. His mother instilled in him the importance of self-improvement and taught him the virtue of working with one's hands, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship by allowing him to take the lead in the family's business. She also taught him generosity and how to make the world a better place for those that have less by sharing with others. 2) I believe that an individual's success is not solely determined by how he or she was raised by his or her parents, as some lousy biological parents are incapable of fulfilling their responsibilities to their children. A parent's obligations include providing food, clothing, financial assistance, medical care, a safe place to live, protecting the child from harm, as well as ensuring that the children receives a proper education. Parents should model responsible behavior by practicing honesty and being kind to others and refraining from comparing their children to others and criticizing them on a constant basis, as this can weaken their self-esteem and demoralize them. Instead, they should encourage, motivate, and place a greater emphasis on moral values and less about materialistic things. If an individual surrounds himself or herself with better and decent people, and support from his or her loved ones, he or she can become truly successful. 3) Yes - Ortiz (A01)

1. As far as the progenitor of the Rizal's; all of them are instrumental in making him into a hero, in some way or the other, whether it is good or the latter. Looking into his background, it is definitely not the poorest nor uneducated family, because their parents were strong willed and well educated. His mother had pragmatic and disciplined stoic views, while his father studied Latin and philosophy. With that being said, a person will amount to such pressure to uphold the same principles - deriving from his parent's demeanor. Aside from having the privilege to study abroad which further broadened his horizons, Rizal has his family beside him all throughout his journey. This close-knit relationship of their family is I think the foundation of Rizal's character. His family was supportive and protective of him as evident in the way Paciano told Jose to use "Rizal" as family name to avoid persecution, they accompanied Rizal when he practiced medicine in Hong Kong, they frequently visited him when he got arrested, etc. He had ten siblings to argue, write, and struggle with; and with experience and knowledge of dealing with different personalities, he practiced his love and morals of justice. 2. With the regards to a person's achievement being dependent on his parent's demeanor, I think that is mainly a fact. The historic background of a person greatly affects the success of its ancestry. I believe that the moral principles and ideologies instilled by parents to their children has a huge influence to the latter's developmental growth as an individual. However, since uncertainty is constant, we cannot also disregard that a person may outgrow these principles as he/she move into adulthood. 3. Yes. Sangab (A01)

1.) Jose Rizal has a caring mother as his first teacher and his mother was a great teacher making Rizal grow up with a good character and smart. His father was very honest and frugal and Jose also learn lessons from his father and Jose Rizal was bullied when he was young because of his last name "Mercado", his father told Jose to use Rizal instead of the Real last name to avoid a conflict to other and I think this was a big help to Jose while he was growing up. Although Jose did not have a perfect family I think Jose is lucky to have them since he grow up smart, kind and brave to expose the Spaniards through his work novels, this was the reason why Philippines become free to the Spaniards. Jose Rizal give inspirations to others and Jose Rizal wouldn't be Jose Rizal without the lesson that his family gave to him. 2.) Of course at first, a child learn and influenced by the parents who raised them and in my own experiences the traits that I learn from my parents is still reflecting in my actions and how I think until my high school days and some of it is until now. In my opinion, as I grow up I understand that sometimes the characteristics we do as a person that we got from our parents is wrong and some of it was right, as time goes by I realize a lot of things and develop myself to have my own opinions and perspective on how I see things and situation. I realize that all of us has different perspective and different thinking on how we deal in different situations. And so I think the individual's success is partly influenced by how she/he raised by his parents and it is also depends on a person mentality on how she/he sees things. 3.) Yes.

1. Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, would have the biggest influence on his development as an individual in his family. She lifted his head and heart towards the world surrounding him, including all of its passion and artistry, including its intolerance and prejudice. Jose Rizal was established for being his mother's son throughout his young existence, as he continually fought to preserve trust in the principles, she tried to teach him. His mother was his first educator, and it was from here that he managed to learn and, as a result, appreciate literature as a facilitator of understanding and productively devoting one's time. He quickly learned to respect time as life's greatest valuable gift, as she encouraged him to never lose a single millisecond of that as well. As a result, as a student in Spain, he was the most conscientious of students, rarely failing a class or a test, even needing to bring them on to an empty stomach due to his work as a Propaganda leader. He motivated his peers to attend school and repay their parents' hardships back home by setting an example. Apart from operating a home, Teodora instilled in him the virtues of producing with one's hands, consciousness, and entrepreneurialism by allowing him to oversee the family's companies. She instilled in him the values of goodwill and contributed to improving the quality of life for those who lacked worldly possessions. All of these teachings he put into practice throughout his exile in Dapitan, where he built a dam, encouraged residents to plant fruit trees, established a school, and even documented the local flora and wildlife. His mother also instilled in him the dignity of hard-earned wealth, as well as the significance of being thrifty and limiting oneself to save a portion of one's wages as a hedge towards life's whims. Having been raised in luxury and privilege, he learned to save and economize. Most importantly, he learned about humility through her mother. 2. Most individuals agree that parents play a larger part in their children ’s well-being, whereas others view that children's achievement is mostly determined by their natural abilities. In my perspective, I completely think that parents have a critical part in a child's academic success. A child is like a lump of clay, where It may be shaped into any structure you like. It is practically difficult for children to go misguided if their parents instill good principles in them while they are young. Similarly, if their parents pushed children to work diligently and dream big, then children are more likely to find success. At even a young age, children are susceptible. Parents have a significant impact on their children's personalities. Children learn through observation and imitating their elderly. Also, children's psychological impacts are influenced by their parent's behavior. They get some of their characteristics through their parents. Considering children tend to act their parents' behavior, it is critical for parents to model good behavior as well. Parents have a moral obligation to instill principles in their children such as integrity, hard work, and so on. This could be accomplished by actively encouraging them. Parents may act as mentors in their children's lives. It is conceivable for any of them to make mistakes on a regular basis. Drug misuse may be a factor in the lives of children. It is also critical for parents to educate their children about the consequences of partaking in such harmful behaviors. Whilst also carefully monitoring and educating their children as needed, parents can improve their understanding of accomplishing their life goals. Simply summarize, parents have a critical influence on the development of a child's disposition. Character development is the key to a person's wealth, which emphasizes the significance of nurturing in one's life. 3. Yes. (DEL MUNDO, A06)

Rizal's family played a role in him becoming a hero. From a father regarded for always being honest, frugal, and hardworking to a mother who is a disciplinarian, a mother of culture and religion, sacrificing, and industrious. We can imagine Rizal's upbringing. Furthermore, because Rizal's family is wealthy, he can afford to attend school, earn a college degree, and study abroad. He was able to write those novels because he was inspired by his family, who had been evicted from Calamba due to an argument between Don Francisco and the Spanish friars, and his journeys to different countries, wherein he saw many things different from those countries and Philippines. He wants to make a difference because he has seen what a democratic country has in all its aspects. From people's way of living to a unified government. He was inspired by what he saw and aspired to have the same. An individual's success is determined by how his or her parents raised him or her, in the sense that the morals you received from your parents will become the foundations of your character. It will surely assist you in many ways, but along the way, you will experience everything on your own and learn many things on your own. You will grow more in all aspects as you experience many things in life. But, in the end, you are the one who will create the ending of your story, and it is entirely up to you whether you choose to be a loser or a winner. However, not all success is based on money or possessions. Your personal meaning of success may differ, but it can be defined as being satisfied, happy, secure, healthy, and loved. It is the ability to accomplish your goals in life, whatever they may be. Yes (Berroya, A06)

1. There are numerous factors in our lives that have shaped us into the people we are now. It could be teachings taught to us by our parents when we were younger, or values we learn from various experiences and individuals we met. Just like Dr. Jose Rizal, he became a national hero as a result of his family and life circumstances. Rizal acquired a huge amount of information and experiences that widened his vision of society under the Spanish colonization. He has observed racial prejudice, injustice, and oppression, which has sparked his inner patriotic passion for his motherland's liberty. Because of Dona Teodora's influence, Rizal's family was strongly influenced by academics, which contributed to his personal development. He became a physician in order to treat his mother's eyes because he loved her so much. At the same time, he practiced medicine and wrote books. He wrote numerous works, including Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which are his two most well-known works. Dr. Jose Rizal was renowned to lead a non-violent reform society because of his leadership abilities which were developed by his family, who served as mentors to Rizal's personality. 2. An individual's success is also dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents. In the early years of life, children need the right and proper care in order to be on the right track. It is the responsibility of the parents to create a strong and appropriate foundation of personality for their child. Parents have an impact on their children's core values, such as attitude, manners, and religious values, as well as matters involving their future, such as educational choices. The stronger the parent-child relationship, the greater influence the child will have because he or she will be more inclined to seek counsel from the parents and appreciate their opinion and support. The fact that if parents have a strong relationship with their children as they grow into young adults, their children will most likely develop values, beliefs, and proper behavior that are similar to their parents. 3. 1. Jose Rizal is a person who love his country, his love for our country may as well be compared to how he love his family but what I know so far is that Rizal’s family somehow an instrument that raised Jose Rizal to become a person that loves his country so much that he died for the Filipino people and become the hero that he is now today. To be precise, because of the situation in the Philippines back then, the Filipino people lived a life in fear and even in Jose Rizal’s case, his family were also greatly affected by the problems caused by the colonizers that they had to change their family name and had to shift to a lot of address and despite that, Rizal-s family still managed to give Rizal a life that is full of opportunity, and how Rizal used those opportunity is the reason why he had become a hero and those opportunity are the instrument that made Jose Rizal’s family, the instrument into making him a hero. 2. Even before we are born in this world, parents always had a responsibility to take care of their children and help them grow as a person. As as a human being, it is a common knowledge that as a parent there is a role that they need to fulfill as a parent, they have the responsibility to raise a child and help them develop into an independent person that can pursue their dreams and become a good citizen in a society. I believe that although a person can succeed with the help of their parents, their success are not necessarily dependent on how they were raised; I believe there are a lot of factors that drives a person to pursue something like how their environment affects their beliefs and how parents nurture their child to have their own beliefs. In conclusion, although the method on which a person is raised is a factor in a person’s success, a person’s success is determined by a lot of factors and not solely dependent on it. 3. Quicay (A01) 1. One of the contributors who shaped Jose Rizal's development was his family. Jose Rizal's family, especially his parents, became his model for self-control, selflessness, honesty, and integrity. Jose Rizal's mother, Teodora Alonzo, was the one who had the greatest influence on him. She opened the eyes of Jose Rizal with the use of literature as to how Jose Rizal opened our eyes and hearts of us Filipinos. Jose Rizal's brother, Paciano Rizal, also had a great influence on him. He was his guardian, he said to Jose Rizal to change his surname from Mercado to Rizal for his safety. After Jose Rizal's execution, Paciano Rizal became one of the Katipuneros and lead them to victory. It was Jose Rizal's family who first became an instrument in making him a hero. From what Jose Rizal inherited from his parents, the virtues, to the love and guidance from his brother and sisters. 2. I think that an individual's success is not solely dependent on how he or she was raised by his or her parents. Yes, parents have a contribution to an individual's success. However, it is not solely that an individual will attain success because of how he or she was raised. Since our parents are our first teachers in our lives, they will guide us until we can stand on our own. However, there are those who lose the essence of family and only believe on their selves. The way our parents raised us will become a factor in how our mindset will be. Some are lucky to be raised with a positive mindset, and some are unfortunate. For me, an individual's success is not dependent on any aspect, but success is defined by the individual. It is how the individual measure or see the things he or she had achieve in his or her life. 3. Yes.

1.) The family of Jose Rizal was an instrument for the way he grew up because he took inspiration from his mother Teodora which was a disciplinarian, cultural, religious, sacrificing, and industrious. Rizal inherited stoicism and self sacrifice from his mother which made Jose Rizal a great hero who sacrificed himself for the country. Jose Rizal's Father Francisco made him have a heartfelt dignity with self-respect and seriousness needed to make the choices he has before the end of his life. Because of Jose Rizal's loving family he pursued education in hopes of finding his family a better home and cure his mother from an eye ailment. Teodora the mother is a dreamer and fond of poetry inspiring Jose Rizal to write a novel based on his experiences and observation from the countries he has been to. Because of these instruments, that led him to become a national hero from heart. 2.) I think that an individual success is not entirely dependent on how one was raised by the parents. Although there are some people who was not dependent on a parent, there should be a parent figure along the way that he or she was grateful to. The way the people around a person acts is how a childe will act in the future, saying that it is dependent to parents are not all completely true but dependent on the environment. The success of an individual depends on his/herself, if one has enough drive to become successful they will be successful. I think that the parents' support, education one received, and the environment while growing up plays a factor if not a major one when talking about an individual's success in life. Most of the time the problem will be the individual lacking the sense of accomplishment, lazy, and discourage by what other say. 3.) Yes Cajucom, (A07)

I personally believe that our childhood and our family definitely have an effect on our personality and on our decisions in life. Dr. Jose Rizal was surrounded by this amazing family. From the lecture it was stated that Dr. Jose Rizal inherited his mother’s temperament, stoicism, self-sacrifice, and love for poetry while he inherited his father’s dignity, self-respect, serenity, poise, and seriousness attributes. His brother also may have influenced him in some way with his love for his country and concern. Seeing that he was willing to fight for it by leading a revolution group in Calamba, same as Dr. Jose Rizal who was willing to sacrifice his life to shed light to the truth. With these people in his life, it was definitely instrumental in making him a hero we admire. 2. I don’t think an individual’s success is highly dependent on how someone was raised by their parents, but it may influence it a little bit. We were a blank canvas when we were a baby, and with the guidance of our parents earlier on we were taught to understand what is right and what is wrong. So most of our early understanding came from our parents. Then we were further enlightened by studying in school and interacting with our classmates, schoolmates, and teachers. As we grow, we have our own understanding, and stand in life. It may change from what we have in the start. Our outlook in life can affect our success, from all our mistakes and choices. I think this greatly affects our will to commit the choices toward success. Also privilege may play more of a role for someone’s success than by the way they were raised. 3. Yes. Santos (A07)

1.) Jose Rizal’s family was instrumental in making him a hero because of the lessons he learned from them, especially lessons from his parents. His mother, Teodora Alonso, inherent fondness of poetry, self-sacrifice and discipline was inherited by Rizal. He learned to be disciplined, the philosophy of stoicism, and practical temperament from his mother. Rizal also inherited a lot of positive traits from his father. From the feeling of dignity, seriousness and poise as well as respect to one’s self. With the Rizal’s family business of farming, he inhibited the value of working with one’s own hands and self-sufficiency. His family’s employment of workers to their business may also have contributed to his value to generosity and helping others. At the same time, even if Jose Rizal’s family wasn’t perfect, he still became a national hero. He learned enough to be self-sufficient and allow certain factors in life to affect him, like how his parents positively affected him, but at the same time the value of stoicism to improve one’s self and work on what an individual could affect in the world. 2.) Personally, I think an individual’s success could partly be dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents and family but success still mainly focuses on the self. We could learn important values from our parents, from how we were raised by them to how their morals and values in life's are, but in the end we as an individual decide for what we learn and what we apply in life. As for Rizal, he became successful because of the inherent values he gained from his parents like self respect, dignity, value of self-sacrifice, and even love for poetry. There still could really be negative or unfavorable values that could be gained from how our family has raised us, like how Rizal’s family was not perfect but in the end his success relied on how he applied it to his personal life. How his values lead him to the national hero that he is known for. 3.) Yes Pomperada (A06)

Rizal’s family always taught Rizal to be a god person and don’t forget that he was still a Filipino. Also, as a child he witnessed how their family was treated just because they have the mercado in their name making him much more aware what can the Spaniards do to his fellow Filipino. Because of this Rizal grow up knowing how the Filipino were enslaved by the Spaniards. Using the teachings of his family with his knowledge that he acquires with his years of studying not just here but also in other country, he used this knowledge to makes the Filipinos aware how cruel the Spaniard system in our country and how they really treated our people. Rizal’s families’ teachings was engraved in Rizal’s heart making him to be the person who we idolized and the national hero we know. 2. in my own opinion the environment that a child has greatly affect of what kind of person he/she will be in the future, but this were not always happening. The kind of person and the achievement that he/she will received will always depend on how he/she will build up his/he character family was just a thing that always remind us to be a good person and how we will differentiate what is right or wrong. The environment that the child from the start doesn’t always affect the character making of a child it also depends on his will to become a much better person. Also, I don’t think that every achievement that we will get were always because of our family or our parents sometimes it’s because of ourselves, because of our will and determination that will brings us success. Being in the family that supports you always really affect your character development but there are people who does not have this kind of family, but they still wish to be successful and with their will and determination they succeed in life. 3. 1.) The Rizal family was an essential part of his life not only that they are his family, but also the influence of the “Rizal” surname during those time. It enabled him to be away from persecution. Aside from this, I believe that one’s values are rooted from how he/she was raised. Based on what Jose Rizal has been raised, he inherited great values from his mother and father. He has a sense of wisdom and discipline because of Teodora Alonzo (his mother) as she was the one who tutored him and raised him with such wisdom especially on writings. This made him love writing novels, poetries, etc. which in his and today’s time we acknowledge and adore his amazing works namely Noli Me Tangere, El Filibusterismo, La Liga Filipina, others. Other astounding characteristics of Rizal came from his father, Francisco Mercado, whom he felt and see the value of respect and integrity. 2.) I disagree to this question. I think an individual’s success is not dependent on how he was raised by his parents. I believe that not everyone of us has been blessed of an understanding and welcoming home, a good life, a healthy life. Some children may have been maltreated by his parents, worked at an early age, and wasn’t able to enjoy his childhood because of it. Through this, the children may have been affected by this either on a positive or negative way. Some may be discouraged that and has a negative mindset about life already, yet others made this an inspiration to work hard for him to experience the success he wanted and for his children to not experience the things that his parents experienced. It is only partially dependent on how he was raised because it is still dependent on the child to decide for himself and on how his life will turn into in the future. 3.) Yes Barbastro (A01)

1.Jose Rizal, like many Filipino boys, had many fond experiences of his youth. He grew up in a lovely environment, surrounded by parental love, infused with family joys, and sanctified by prayers. He spent his youth in the middle of such a peaceful, cultured, God-fearing house. Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, was the one who had the most effect on his growth as a person. She was the one who first opened his eyes and heart to the world around him, with all of its soul and poetry, as well as its intolerance and injustice. Rizal demonstrated throughout his brief life that he was his mother's son, as he continually strived to maintain faith in the principles she taught him. The unjust arrest of his mother on the accusation of plotting to poison a relative, despite the lack of evidence against her, was a turning point in his childhood that had a tremendous impact on his later choice to become a political activist 2. I do not think that an individual's success is dependent on how he or she is raised by their parents because one can shape his destiny by how he would control his life. For me, our parents are there as a guide and there is clear evidence that parents can and do influence children. There is equally clear evidence that children’s genetic makeup affects their own behavioral characteristics, and also influences the way they are treated by their parents but it is not a dependent factor that shapes our success in life because every individual has its right and way of maneuvering their life and may be different from the life that their parents are living currently. They may be more successful than their parents or less successful depending on many different factors and influences such as peers, challenges, and education. Therefore it is an influencing factor rather than a dependent factor for me. 3.Yes (SOLIMAN(A01)

1.) The extent to which an individual's success is determined by how their parents raised them is a complex and multidimensional subject. While parental upbringing is undeniably important in developing a person's character, beliefs, and early chances, it is not the only determinant of success.Parental influence may have an impact on a child's scholastic achievement, self-esteem, work ethic, and social skills, all of which can contribute to their success in many aspects of life. Personal drive, intrinsic abilities, external chances, and socioeconomic conditions, on the other hand, have a considerable impact on an individual's success.Children from underprivileged families may face greater challenges to achievement owing to a lack of resources or assistance. However, it is critical to understand that individuals have the ability to 2.)Rizal's family was instrumental in molding him into a Philippine national hero. They gave him a good educational foundation, instilling in him a love of study and moral values. Rizal's parents recognized his intellectual talent and encouraged him to pursue higher education overseas, exposing him to other cultures and ideas that shaped his nationalist thought. Growing up in a household steeped in Philippine culture and history, Rizal was exposed to his people's sufferings and ambitions, driving his passion to strive for his country's improvement. His family was there for him emotionally throughout his life, supporting him through his different hardships and actions. They were critical in maintaining his memory after his execution. 3.) 1. We all know that Teodora Alonso her mother influenced/ taught him the important things to do in life, how he will value and how her mother opened his eyes to the world. And her mother's traits are brilliant. While his father provided for all of their needs, he has a strong personality and a leadership attitude. That shaped Rizal's temperament as a writer, an idealist, a sacrificer, and a brilliant mind, and also Dr. Rizal's ideas were influenced by a variety of attributes, all of which contributed to Rizal's development into the man he is today. 2. I believe so because of how they teach him to value everything, despite coming from a wealthy family. Her mom taught him to read, he came to the importance of reading, and it didn't take very long for him to realize the value of time as life's most important gift, because her mother taught him never to waste a precious second. His mother also embedded in him the importance of hard-earned extra money. from his father's personal traits of being brave and having a leadership attitude. Integrity, loyalty, truthfulness, morality, love, selflessness, and virtue all of this are the values of his family that's why one of the reasons why he was a hero. Rizal's life is an inspiration for us because of his full of wisdom. 3.Yes SAOIT, A01

1.) At a young age Rizal was taught by his mother Teodora Alfonso, his mother shared with him the knowledge and skills that she acquired over the years. With his mother sharing her knowledge with Jose Rizal, Rizal was enlightened on how the world is unjust and unfair. His mother was the main influence for Rizal to be becoming a hero, his mother would always gather her children to pray. I believe that this was the main foundation for Jose Rizal being a pacifist. In his youth, the Rizal family also sent Jose Rizal overseas to be able to acquire more skills and knowledge. As he had enough of the cruelty that the Filipino’s are experiencing, he decided to help his countrymen with his writing. Which sparks the revolution, with this revolution his brother General Paciano Rizal was also a part of the revolution. towards the end of Jose Rizal life, he died for the freedom of the Filipinos. 2.) For me, I believe that how parents raise their kids have an impact in an individual's success. But there are certain limitations in their impact. An individual is thought the difference between right and wrong, and are thought certain values that the parents themselves have experience in their life. I believe that the rapid growth of the world has an effect on those limitation and an individual must constantly adopt to its surroundings to be able to be successful. Now, how a person is raised would always have a significant influence on how they make decisions and the things that they learned would always be a part of them. But a person would always be in control if he or she would wish to adopt these lessons for their future. This lessons that they have learned from their parents wouldn't always make them successful, as I said they must constantly adopt to be successful. 3.) Yes Librea (A06)

1.) Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, had the greatest impact on his growth as a human being. She was the one who first caught his eye and heart to the world around him, with all its soul and poetry, including its intolerance and injustice. Rizal demonstrated throughout his brief life that he was his mother's son, a chip off the old block, as he continually sought to follow the lessons she taught him. His mother was his first instructor, and it was through her, that he learned to read and, as a result, to appreciate reading as a means of acquiring knowledge and passing the time productively. It was not long before Rizal learned to respect time as life's most valuable commodity, as she educated him never to miss a single second of it. Thus, as a student in Spain, he developed into the most conscientious student, never missing a class or an examination regardless of his activities as a Propaganda leader or even taking them on an empty stomach. By his example, he urged his compatriots - those who had fallen into a life of leisure, squandering energy, and allowances for gambling and promiscuity - to continue their studies and earn the sacrifices made by their parents back home. Furthermore, Paciano, his brother, instilled in him a love for liberty and justice. He learned to be friendly and be kind to women from his sisters. His three uncles encouraged him to cultivate his artistic skill, strengthen his fragile body, and increase his insatiable reading of fine books. His Father, Leoncio Lopez, cultivated Rizal's zeal for learning and intellectual honesty. The loss of his sister Concepcion Rizal and his mother's imprisonment aided in developing his character, helping him to withstand adversity in later years. Spanish atrocities and abuses reawakened his patriotism and encouraged him to devote his life and talents to rehabilitating his oppressed people. These good traits and values of Rizal from the learnings he got from his family made him a national hero. 2.) Parenting style is critical in developing a child's personality, cognition, and social skills. Numerous personality theories have emphasized the critical role of parental approaches in a child's development. There are three predominant parenting styles: authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive. Each parenting style has a unique effect on a child's development and affects the individual's achievement. Individuals raised in an authoritative parenting style are more likely to achieve more success than those raised in the other two parenting types. In an authoritarian parenting style, parents expect their children to adhere to their rules, resulting in punishment. They do not teach their children about the significance of these rules, preferring instead to expect them to follow them blindly and without question. Additionally, children's opinions are ignored, and they are expected to do as their parents direct. If individuals are raised in this manner, they are less likely to succeed since they lack the independence to choose their interests and are confined. The authoritative style of parenting is the total opposite of the authoritarian style. In contrast to authoritarian parenting, in which the person is expected to accept the rules without inquiry blindly, children are educated about the rules and their relevance. Additionally, certain decisions take the children's viewpoint into account. Positive reinforcement molds the children's behaviors and keeps them out of trouble. Individuals who are raised authoritatively are more likely to be successful and self-sufficient. Additionally, with a permissive parenting style, parents are not demanding and are flexible with restrictions. Children are frequently spoiled by being given whatever they request with little or no denial. Suppose a child is not educated about the worth of an object and is handed it without question. In that case, the child lacks appreciation for objects and believes that everything is readily available. This mentality can work against an individual's achievement. Thus, parenting is critical to an individual's development and success. 3.) Yes Resurreccion (A01)

1. Rizal was a family man; he loved his family very much, right until the very end. It’s not difficult to see that a lot of his actions were inspired by them, who loved him right back. Being born into a wealthy family was one of the major factors in Rizal’s life that led to his heroic and nationalistic ideals. Because of their wealth, he was able to receive the best education money could buy. Due to this, he was enlightened of the situation of the people in the country at the hands of the Spanish regime. This was further amplified when he was sent to study abroad and got exposed to the bigger picture of life at that time. And to add to this, apart from the mortal danger he put himself in, his family always supported him and wished him the best in his campaign for the country. 2. While a person’s upbringing is a crucial factor in what kind of person they grow up to be, this isn’t always the case. It’s true that a person’s childhood can very much cement the ideals and personality of the individual based on the environment they grew up in, however, there are always exceptions. There are countless stories of people who were born with nothing ending up rich, and there are others still of people born into wealth who squandered their fortunes and ended up with nothing. The same can be said for their personalities. People born into modest, honest families sometimes end up criminals, while those born in less than perfect households still manage to do right by the people around them. So, in the end, I say no, an individual’s success is not dependent on their upbringing; however it still does play a major role in their lives. 3. Yes. Ricafort, A01

1. from what I have learned about Rizal's family, His love of learning was influenced by his mother, Teodora Alonzo. Teodora Alonzo taught Jose Rizal to value time and never waste a single of it. Rizal learned how to read and that is how Rizal earned his love of reading. Teodora Alonzo is the one who has the greatest influence on Jose Rizal's development as a person. Rizal's mother taught him how to value hard-earned money and that he should learn how to save them wisely. From his mother's guidance, he learned to improve himself as a person and learned a lot of things such as writing poems, drawing, sculpting, and many more. Rizal has disobeyed his mother's warning too but it is because of Rizal's beliefs in the catholic church. But because of his mother's teachings, Rizal learned to make the world a better place and help those people who are in need, which he did that started the revolution in the Philippines' independence. 2. In my opinion, There are different kinds of people, there are people even taught carefully by their parents but chose to disobey them of their own will. And there are people who chose to obey their parents because of the saying that they know what's best for their child. There are stories of people who claimed to be successful even when their parents are not supportive of them and it is not what the parents want and there are people who became successful still because of following their parents' wishes. I think that the parents' teachings will give us guidance for our development just like what Teodora Alonzo did for Jose Rizal which influenced him to be the kind of person he was. I believe that listening to our parents is a must because of what happened to them in the past in their actions and that they are telling us to be aware of our future. But what's important is that do what you think makes you happy and what you feel like is going to make you successful, because in the end, our parents will accept the things that we want even if they don't approve of, and for me, that is the most successful thing that a person who has disapproved parents can achieve. 3.Yes Ladrido,A01

1. The family of Rizal greatly influenced his life as a hero because of the way he was raised. His mother, Teodora Alonzo, was the first teacher of Dr. Jose Rizal. She was the one who nurtured him to be disciplined, self-sacrificial, stoic, and poetry-loving. These values taught by his mother is very evident in the novel writings of Rizal which made him a hero. His father, Francisco Mercado, taught him to be a person of dignity, poise, self-respect, and seriousness. The siblings of Rizal were also taught the same values and ideals that Teodora Alonzo and Francisco Mercado instilled in Rizal. Some siblings of Rizal became members of the revolution. I believe that Rizal was confident to fight for freedom because he knows that fighting for it is the right thing to do, as taught by his family. He was earnest to rebel against the Spaniards because he was inspired and motivated by the ideals of his family. Without the teachings and lessons from his family, Rizal would not be a significant part of our history. 2. I think that an individual’s success is not dependent by the way they were raised. I believe that parents are a great influence to the success of their children. However, the success of their children is dependent on their children alone. I have heard actual stories of parents raising their children with the right values, principles, and ideals but their children still chose to rebel and do wrong doings. On the other hand, I also heard stories of parents neglecting their children at a young age but their children still choose to stand up and be successful in life. I believe that the teachings, wisdoms, and experiences brought to us by our parents will greatly influence how we grow up as a person but it is our own choices that makes us successful in life. 3. 1. Rizal’s upbringing has shaped him into the man that we now know and celebrate. His family was not perfect in any way, but this did not become an issue, his mother, Dona Teodora instilled in him many life lessons that he later applied in his adult life. He grew up loved and supported by his family, I think the unconditional support a person receives from his family is what gives them strength and what shapes them into the person that they are today, and that is the role of Dr. Jose Rizal’s family into making him our national hero. There is no such thing as a perfect family, there may never be one, but whether they are a perfect family or not, they have made a positive impact on Dr. Jose Rizal, which made him inspired and brave, which led him to be the man that we know today. 2. Yes, I do think that a person’s upbringing plays a great factor in a person’s success. We often hear a lot of success stories that focus more on how their family and upbringing influence them into who they are today. Most success stories often begin from how a person is raised, we see a lot of successful people looking back on how their parents showed support and showed unconditional love, but we also sometimes see success stories that feature absent parents, and how although their parents never really showed them support, they didn’t let it affect them personally and they still continued to pursue their dreams and passion. Whether you come from a complete family who rarely encounters arguments and misunderstandings, or you come from a broken family, it plays a larger role in shaping the person you are right now, and how it affected you into achieving great success. 3. 1.) Rizal’s family is a key factor into making him a hero because, as we all know, a child’s success is determined on how the family raised him. For instance, Teodora Alonzo, the mother of Rizal told him several stories such as the “Ang Kwento ng Gamu Gamo” which meant to always listen to our parents because parents know best. Although, Teodora Alonzo opposed the idea of sending Rizal to a university in Manila to pursue higher education fearing that his son might die to the Spanish, the father, on the other hand told Paciano to accompany him which means that despite the fact that Rizal might die, his father still supported him in doing what he wants which led him to become one of the smartest and most influential persons in our country. Without the guidance, supervision, and influence of Rizal’s family, not to mention the hardships they all have went together, such as the death of Concepcion Rizal, Jose Rizal might not become the person who will save the Philippines from the Spanish. All events that he witnessed are all factors that led him to become the national hero of the Philippines. 2.) The family is always one of the most influential factors in a child’s life. A child’s behavior, morality, success, the way they talk to people, is dependent on how his parents raised him. If a parent raised a child without any love and supervision, then the child will grow up feeling that he is someone who cannot be loved by anyone and that he does not follow the rules and regulations in society. The same can be said if the parents showed their love to their child and guided them accordingly. Parents who also recognize their child’s achievements will let the child become proud of himself therefore he is passionate to acquire more achievements so that he can make his parents proud. Although parental guidance is an important factor on how a child is raised, I strongly believe that friends are equally important in bringing up a child’s success because friends are the people that the child will grow up along the way, and they can see and influence each other on what they will do in life and build up their dreams for the future. 3.) 1. From my perspective, Rizal’s family was instrumental in making him a hero through the way his parents brought him up, or the way he lived his life with them. As we all know, a child adopts or inherits the traits shown around them, and acts based on what they see. In Rizal’s case, he inherited his mother’s fondness for poetry, which somewhat enabled him to write his novels that ignited the Philippine revolution. Rizal was willing to sacrifice his own life for the country partly because he had seen his mother’s self-sacrificing attitude and thought that he too would be able to do that. If he had not seen his mother write poetry, or his mother’s self-sacrificing attitude, maybe Rizal would not have been the hero he is today. All that he is, possibly from birth to grave, was influenced by his family because they were his stepping stone on becoming someone we look up to today. The way he was raised, although for sure it was not perfect, was a factor as to why he became our hero. 2. I think an individual’s success is not dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents. It may be a factor in becoming successful but, success is not solely dependent on that factor. If it was, I think an individual would not be successful or the parents would instead hinder the individual’s success because he/she would be boxed within his/her parents' teachings that he/she would not be able to explore more ideas. The way an individual is brought up can be a stepping stone to success because it teaches you how to differentiate what’s right and wrong at first glance; however, other factors, such as life experiences, could also contribute to an individual’s success. Also, an individual could still be successful without his/her parents in general. This is when other factors such as opportunities, resources, etc., come into play. I think, with or without a parent and proper parenting, if enough opportunities and resources are presented to an individual, one could become successful in their own way. Though parents shape the way a child sees the world, it's an individual's responsibility to know what type of person he/she wants to become, regardless of how he/she was raised. 3. Yes, I did. 1. Rizal’s family molded and helped him to be the person that the Philippines considered as the National Hero right now but it’s his mother, Teodora Alfonso, who had the greatest influence on his personality, way of thinking, and behavior. By teaching and sharing her knowledge and skills with Rizal and other children, at a very young age he was exposed to how cruel and unjust the world is. From being his first teacher, learning the life lesson about the story of the moth to witnessing the unjust arrest of his mother - which made him later on write propaganda against the oppressor’s unearthed system. Teodora endured everything when she was arrested twice just to protect her family, especially Jose Rizal. In his later life and just like what his mother did, at the expense of his life and by using the skills his mother taught him, Rizal also sacrificed himself for the country’s independence and freedom by being the spark of the revolution. 2. I do believe that how an individual was raised by their parents has an influence on someone’s success. The way our parents raised us, how they influence our way of thinking and behavior and our personal childhood experiences help us in molding and shaping our own beliefs for ourselves and for others as well. But someone’s success is not solely because of our parent’s way of teaching, guiding, and raising us - our success is based on how we pursue the things we want and need in our life. It’s on how determined you are to be the best person you can be by using the learnings you got from your parents as your guide in life and in the path, you choose to take. Our parents may have a different way of guiding and raising us, but it still depends on how we will use those skills and knowledge to our advantage in life. 3. Yes Remoquillo (A06)

1. According to what I have learned in the past, a family is the very basic structure of a society. It is the one responsible for the upbringing of a specific person. So to answer the question stated above, the presence of Rizal’s family is a big puzzle piece to which dictates the starting point on how Rizal’s life began. Familial bond creates mannerism, family culture, attitude, and the core character of a person, if Rizal’s family happen to be different from what was stated in the lecture then there is a great chance that Rizal won’t have the same belief or characteristic traits to become a hero, or it could also happen that Rizal would become even better than what history have told us, thus the end result of the rebellion might end differently for Rizal, which gives that these happenings are based on Rizal’s family as an independent variable in this historical equation. 2. Yes I do believe with that statement, as I have said on the earlier question, a parent’s presence and ideology affects the upbringing and core traits of a person, they can become rebellious, religious, hard-working, lazy, apathetic, engaging, etc... Although yes there are many other things that may affect the traits of a person, but the core belief on how a person would carry out their lives depends on what the parents and family have taught to the child as they grow. If the family is loving and caring, and they would teach the right things from the wrong then the child will more likely grow as a person who cares for others, and if the family is born out of hatred, there is a chance that the child will also grow to hate things. In the end, the person grows towards his/her future while considering how to apply what they have learned from their family into their lives, they can either accept the lessons, improvise from it, or fully reject it. 3. 1) Jose Rizal's family, especially his mother, Teodora Alonso, was a great instrument in making him a hero through the character Jose Rizal's family shaped him to be. Jose Rizal's first teacher, his mother, Teodora Alonso, taught him discipline and how to read and, as a result, to regard reading as a means of learning and spending one's time productively. Teodora Alonso opens Jose Rizal's eyes and heart to the world, especially to the country they lived in. The oppression and corruption of the Spanish governors and friars experienced by many Filipinos made Teodora Alonso plants her faith and hope of freedom in Jose Rizal's mind. Teodora Alonso inspired Jose Rizal to study more in schools to improve his skills furthermore. Jose Rizal inherited Teodora Alonso's fondness for poetry which led him to write not only poems but also novels that inspired the Filipino people. Without Teodora Alonso and her teachings, and Jose Rizal's seriousness in keeping mind of the said teachings, he would not be considered as our country's pride and the national hero of the Philippines. 2) From my own perspective, an individual's success is not really dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents, instead, it is a factor. It is dependent on the person's dedication and perseverance in reaching his or her success. There are people who achieved success even without the proper love and care of a parent. Being properly raised by his or her parents is a bonus or a headstart to achieving success, it's just a matter of how you will use what you learn or expand your knowledge when you are on your own. Like Jose Rizal, when he studied and visit other countries away from his family, he used what he had learned from his mother, Teodora Alonso, but it was his own dedication that drives him to move forward. His attitude made him who he is known today, the national hero of the Philippines, a Filipino's greatest honor and success. 3) Yes. Delos Reyes (A01)

1) To begin with, there are no perfect families. No matter how well their personalities match, or however wealthy a family is, there will always be problems that need only to be solved. In Dr. Jose Rizal’s case, it must be a burden that comes with being a hero, that his family’s secrets and personal information are dug up and scrutinised by the masses. But even though this is the case, it did not stop Rizal from becoming what he was meant to be. I believe that the parents are a huge factor in his development. His mother’s practicality and being a dreamer allows for a combination of high ambition, whilst having the plans to reach these goals. Poetry of course makes a man more refined and cultured. From his father, self-respect and dignity means that he knows what is appropriate for himself, and for his people. Plan of action from his mother, and Self-awareness from his father allowed him to see past the Spaniard’s manipulations, and was able to communicate that with the people. Maybe he was not intending to become a hero, but it is such qualities that makes him a man of morals above most. It could also be assumed that knowing his lineage comes from the Ruler of Manila in the 1500s that gave him the strength and courage to rise above. It makes Rizal more relatable knowing that our heroes might actually have their own heroes too. 2) Definitely NOT. To say that your success relies on external factors is still acceptable. But to claim that your success relies on the past is unacceptable. (how you were raised is not the present, it has been done) It is obvious that a child raised up with the correct mindset and common sense will adapt and prosper more easily than one that is raised up in a toxic environment. But ultimately, I believe that once a child reaches self-awareness, he/she can choose whether his surroundings are helpful or not, if the attitudes he’s observing are proper or not, and whether the lessons he’s taught should be taken to heart, taken to action, or gone down the drain. I do not want to accept that a bad upbringing will cap a child’s potential. Instead, I believe that reaching greatness is easier with the right support, but even for the worst of backgrounds, it is only harder but not impossible. 3) Yes. (SANTOS A01)

1.We all know that Jose Rizal was a bright and knowledgeable human being and behind that man's creativeness and wisdom was his family's influence, especially his mother. Jose Rizal's mother Teodora Alonzo was his first teacher who introduced him to the world of literature, he also learned how to read and see the other perspective of life far from what the eyes see. Correspondingly, her mother makes him open his eyes or his heart to the world as it faces ample conflicts and hindrances. Likewise, his family also plays a big role in making him a hero since through his siblings, he also learned a lot of life lessons by experience. Furthermore, with the support given by his family and help either by actions nor words they contributed in making Dr. Jose Rizal becoming a hero. After all, family is the basic foundation of what we have and about to accomplish in our lives, they were the first to believe in us, and therefore support you along the journey. 2. Yes. Because somehow, children tend to look up to their parents' achievements and how they admire their professions. Thus, with proper guidance and attention towards their children, they will be able to influence them to choose a good path that will bring them achievements and success. With the love and patience given by the parents, it is easier for an individual to conquer those hindrances that might come across their dreams. On the other hand, I would also contradict the first statement as it does not apply to all but only suited for several since I also believe that an individual's success is because of their courage and motivation to pursue a certain goal especially those who do not have a parent and the only reasons they have to continue their dreams is for them to have a better life. Likewise, not all parents support their children's dream since sometimes they are the ones who oppose it and neglect the likes of their children. Moreover, the support and love of our family is as important as our dreams in life, they should be the one who influences us and not the environment outside our home which only portrays how being neglected can bring us to the places we shouldn't be in the first place. 3. Each member of Jose Rizal's family has become an instrument in him becoming a hero. His mother, Teodora Alonzo, was the first one who taught him things such as praying, reading, and writing. His mother was fond of poetry, and she encouraged him to write poetry. With the help of that, Rizal entered the world of writing, which led him into creating a masterpiece such as El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere, which created a spark for a revolution. In addition, his father, Francisco Mercado, is a respective man and has a characteristic that makes him an exemplary model of a person. Jose Rizal inherited the characteristics of his father, such as having a sense of pride and dignity, self-respect, seriousness, and even poise. Those traits of Rizal from his father are one of the most significant factors that helped Rizal to become a better citizen and a nationalist. Lastly, his brother Paciano is the one that taught Rizal that save their lives. Paciano said that instead of using their family name Mercado, he should use the surname Rizal to avoid possible family persecution. Paciano helped him when he studied abroad, and also, Paciano supported Rizal, pointed out what he was lacking, and helped him improve those. So, those are some things that Rizal's family did that were instrumental in making Jose Rizal a hero. Characteristics of an individual matter in achieving a goal. A person's features, personality, skills, strengths, and weaknesses may be from their environment, and most significantly, it may be the influence of the family. Parents are a significant factor and influence the kind of person that the child will become. So, for me, some part of an individual's success is dependent on how their parents raised them. Parents are role models. Like Jose Rizal, he was raised by his father, an exemplary model, and his mother, a disciplinarian, and fond of poetry. Rizal becomes profound of self-dignity and self-respect and a nationalist writer, activist, doctor, and political martyr because of the influence of his parents. Rizal has become a successful person because of the impact of his parents. Therefore, I believe that individual success may depend on how their parents raised them. Yes. Roxas, A07

1.) For me, there is a significant impact to an individual's success on how he or she was raised by her parents. Parental guidance can shape the person's belief, values, spirit, and motivation. A person's capacity to pursue and accomplish their goals can be positively impacted by the confidence, resiliency, and sense of security that supportive and nurturing parents can create. There are also several factors that we want to consider that parents might not be in control like, environment, economic status, education, and resources that every child may encounter. We may also need to consider the opportunities of the child that he or she will have as he grows because it also affects how successful he will be. Not has the same opportunity, not everyone will have the same luck, there are many factors that we need to consider, and it will also depend on the child how he will do in life because there is no guarantee that you will be successful even if you have good parents. 2.) For a number of reasons, Rizal's family was especially important in helping to shape him into the hero that he is today. First of all, Rizal's parents both understood the value of education for their children, and Rizal even traveled overseas to study and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. His parents sent him to the best universities in Manila before sending him to Europe to complete his studies. Second, Rizal was instilled with a sense of patriotism and love for his country by his family. As a result, he worked persistently to secure the freedom we truly deserved and even gave an immeasurable sacrifice his life to do it. Last but not least, he received encouragement and emotional support from his family, which helped him pursue his goal. In conclusion, his family played a vital role in making him a hero. This shows how family can really play a significant role in making someone the best version of themselves. 3.) Yes RAMOS, B43

1). In my understanding, Rizal’s family was instrumental because I believe and have read studies that show that parents have the most significant impact on the life of their child’s character. Parents were our first teachers and the ones who judged our actions, whether it is right or wrong. Jose Rizal’s parents Teodora and Francisco have contributed to his character foundation. Parents were the first to teach us the values and ethics in life in which we will grow up. This has contributed to why Jose dared to do what he has done for our country; as the friars had done moral wrongdoings, it was known that Jose Rizal had self-respect, which he wants for everyone to have at that time, especially the victims of slavery. He obtained how loving his mother is, as his love for his mother was how he has loved our country that leads to its freedom. 2). In my opinion, an individual’s success will never depend on how they were raised by his parents. Let us all be honest, not all parent’s teachings are the same; some parents teach their children to do such immoral things. Still, as they grow up, they will be enlightened about what is right or wrong as the society will tell, and indeed they have, or we have our minds to which path we are going to take. An individual’s success will always depend on itself; even if you have the worst parents on earth, you can always change your path if you want a better or more successful life. It is just a matter of choice; just like Jose Rizal’s parents, they have taught him good things, and it is his choice to maintain those good characteristics and the values his parents taught him that led him to become a hero. 3). 1.) Rizal's family has a contribution on the achievement of Dr. Jose Rizal. The first thing that has contributed to his achievement is how he has been raised by his parents. Rizal came from a family that was quite rich at their time. With the support of his parents, he was able to study in a good school and finish his studies. He was raised well by his parents which let him develop a great knowledge and character which made a contribution for him to become a hero. The other thing that his family contributed is the efforts and the participation of some of his sibling in the Philippine revolution against the Spaniards. Paciano, who was his older brother became a general during the revolution. Also, a daughter of his sister is one of the ladies that made our National flag. Knowing that Jose Rizal and his family made a contribution in achieving our country's independence, it is important to acknowledge the role of Rizal's family in the heroism of Rizal. 2.) An individual's success may depend on how he or she was raised by his parents. Parents serve as a major influence in the development of a child's character, and way of thinking. It influences the beliefs of the child and its level of education. Also, parents are capable on providing guidance and knowledge for the children, and the motivation that a child needs to pursue his dreams. The love and support of the parents to its child were also a factor that influences the happiness and achievement of a person. With the support of the parents, a person may able to feel great in pursuing his dreams because he knows that his parents are there to guide him in his journey to achieve his goals in life. It is important for the parents to set themselves as an example to their children so that they may shape them in becoming a better person in the future. (Dela Cruz, A01)

1) The influence of parental upbringing on a person's success is a complex and multifaceted issue. While a person's upbringing is certainly important in shaping their values, beliefs, and skills, it is important to recognize that success is influenced by a variety of factors other than parental influence. External factors like educational opportunities, social environment, personal choices, and innate abilities all play a role in an individual's success. In the case of Jose Rizal, his parents were extremely influential in his upbringing. Rizal's parents, especially his mother, instilled in him a strong sense of moral values and a strong sense of nationalism. These guiding principles guided Rizal on his path to becoming a prominent figure in Philippine history. However, Rizal's success cannot be attributed solely to the influence of his parents. His innate intelligence, curiosity, and drive for excellence were critical to his success. Furthermore, external factors such as Rizal's access to education, exposure to diverse ideas, and the historical context in which he lived influenced his success. 2) Rizal's family had a large influence on his character, values, and eventual path to becoming a national hero. His parents, Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso instilled in him a strong moral sense, a love of education, and a commitment to social responsibility. Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, was especially influential in his upbringing. She was a strong-willed and intelligent woman who encouraged Rizal's love of learning and critical thinking. Teodora's own sacrifices and unwavering support for her son's education and aspirations influenced Rizal's development. Rizal's siblings, particularly his brother Paciano, were instrumental in his journey to heroism. Paciano's participation in anti-colonial activities, as well as his guidance, influenced Rizal's awakening to the social injustices prevalent at the time. Rizal's family gave him a solid foundation of values, education, and support, which shaped his character and fueled his desire for social change and national liberation. Their influence paved the way for Rizal's eventual transformation into a hero and a driving force behind Philippine independence. 3) YES Montemayor, b43

1. For me, yes definitely. Parents have the most significant impact when it comes to their child's success. They taught them the foundations that are needed not only in school but also in life, this includes their values, beliefs, and etc. They also teach their child how to socialize with others, problem solve, and set goals for them. Children at their young age tend to just absorb knowledge way more easily, that’s why they can easily imitate and adapt themselves to their role model at the time, the parents are not the only factors that can help to the child’s success there are also multiple factors that should be considered. Multiple researches and stories from parents have shown that children who were raised in a supportive and encouraged environment are more likely to be successful in school, work, and even life. Of course, parents are also humans, they are not perfect, they will make mistakes. Despite this the most important thing is the consistency, commitment, and love that the parents give for their child are being done properly with them. 2. Jose Rizal’s family played a huge role in shaping him into the well-known person that he is. His parents were both well-educated and progressive as time passed. They ensured to teach Rizal to love learning, strong sense in social justice, and commitment to fight for human rights. Riza’s family provided him with the financial resources that he needed in order to pursue his education. Jose Rizal was able to attend the best schools in the Philippines, he traveled in Europe to continue his studies. With this education it gave him his knowledge and skills that he needed to become a leader-figure in the Philippine Revolution. Rizal’s family provided him with the love, support and education that he needed in order to succeed. They also instilled to him the values that would guide him all throughout his life. Without his family’s love and support all this time he would never become the hero that we all know and love. 3. Yes

1. As mentioned in the video, his mother, Doña Teodora Alonzo, was the very first teacher of Dr. Jose Rizal and his other siblings. She was the first one who taught Dr. Jose Rizal the importance of moral values and discipline. Rizal’s family was the one who opened Dr. Jose Rizal’s eyes to reality, and his family was the one who enlightened him about what is happening to the world and the people around him. It shows that Dr. Jose Rizal signified the moral lessons his mother taught him through his works and ideals. Another thing is his mother was his first primary educator; she taught him the fundamental skills in reading and writing, which became one of Dr. Jose Rizal’s strengths knowing that he is a great poet and novelist. In other words, the Rizal family, especially his mother, helped him to be the person he was. He became an open-minded, transformational, and visionary person. He always stood up for what he believed was right and was incorruptible. His love for the country was compelling, and he always put the welfare of his country before his own life. Just like most of us, Dr. Jose Rizal was born an ordinary Filipino, but his characteristics and traits were further developed with the help of his family and himself. His family, especially his mother and sisters, supported him for what he was fighting for. His family was there for him at every turning point of his life. 2. In my opinion, how our parents' raised us could significantly influence our characteristics and qualities as an individual because they are the ones who open our eyes to the world. It could be the foundation of how we will develop as an individual. However, I refuse to believe that an individual’s success is dependent on how our parents raised us. Every parent is responsible for raising their child, teaching them good morals and conduct, and guiding them as they grow up. However, we will all come to the point where we should see things from our perspective and stop relying on our parents. When this moment comes, we must know that we are responsible for what may ever happen in our lives. Other factors such as the influences of our peers and the environment we live in could also affect how we will succeed. There will be countless times when we have to overcome circumstances by ourselves, and the outcome would depend on how we will handle things from our perspective. We indeed could be more confident in our ability to make choices in life if our parents support and guide us well. However, this is not the case for everyone. Our success will be highly dependent on us, our decisions, and our choices in life. How our parents raised us might have an influence, but at the end of the day, it is us, who will decide for ourselves and determine our success. 3. YES Submitted by: Collado (A01)

1. Each member of Rizal's family's individual characteristics and relationships, in my opinion, contributed to his stature as a hero. As a result, he possessed strong morals and a distinct perspective on life. Furthermore, his knowledge and understanding grew even more, which he put to good use. Because of his talent, the Philippines was able to gain the independence he only got by producing novels, essays, and articles. He awakened the eyes and minds of our other fallen heroes to the fact that foreigners oppressing us is no longer acceptable. 2. "Kung ano ang puno, ay siya din ang bunga," as the saying goes. Building a family or having children is a huge responsibility for couples. First and foremost, they must be financially secure enough to meet their child's demands from birth until they get their diplomas. Raising a child is not a joke since it requires care, supervision, and guidance from their parents. As the saying goes, a child's first teacher is his or her parents. Education begins at home. As a result, I believe that a child's character and behavior are influenced by how they were taught. However, as kids get older, the influence of their friends and the people in their surroundings outside their homes is unavoidable. It may or may not be beneficial to them. Therefore, a person's success is not determined by how his parents raised him as they still have the freedom to choose whom they want to be as individuals. 3. Yes. DELA CRUZ, A07

1. Family in our lives is a huge contributor to who we are today. The relationship that Rizal has with his family had a significant impact on him in becoming a hero. One great example is his mother, Teodora Alonso, who is his first teacher. Starting from reading to having multifaced skills. His mother taught Rizal to value various things. Such as spending time meaningfully, hard-earned money, and the value of improving oneself. This makes Rizal to open his mind and heart in every way he does for himself and the world he lived in. Thus, Rizal manifested that a good education is a must. In Rizal's siblings part, they continued his legacy by being involved in the revolution. For example, Rizal's brother became a General of the Revolutionaries, Josephine Bracken who fought battles in Cavite, and the daughter of Lucia Rizal one of the three ladies who sew the first Philippine flag. Moreover, Rizal's siblings have their own little way of building a profound influence on his success as a hero in our country. 2. I believe that success is not fully dependent on how a person is raised by his or her parents. However, as I said in the first question, a family's influence is a huge contributor to who we are today. The first things we learn are from our homes, which sets what kind of learning environment we have. Having a healthy learning environment definitely creates a favorable condition and a strong foundation for the development of an individual. Practically the behavior we have from the way of talking to others to morals and values are firstly taught at home. On the contrary, our attitude will alter by other social factors we encounter in life. The nurture we will gain from different people and the environment we have around us will shape our character as we grew older. Overall, teachings from the parents are a head start on how we perceive things. 3. Yes (ACHACON, A06)

1. Rizal's father, Francisco Mercado, was a role model for his honesty, frugality, and hard work. Rizal received from his father a deep sense of dignity, self-respect, calm and poise, and earnestness. Teodora Alonzo, Rizal's mother, was a strict disciplinarian, a cultural and religious mother, and a selfless and hardworking homemaker. Rizal received from his mother a practical temperament, stoicism, self-sacrifice, a dreamer's temperament, and a love of poetry. Rizal's mother was the person who had the biggest impact on his development as a person. She was the one who first opened his eyes and heart to the world around him, with all of its soul and poetry as well as its intolerance and injustice. Rizal proved to be his mother's son, a chip off the old block, throughout his young life, as he continually strived to preserve trust in the lessons she taught him. Also I think Rizal’s mother is the inspiration on how Rizal fought the revolution by using poetry because he inherited that from her mother. Rizal received many things from his family that aided him in becoming who he is today, and I believe that this is how Rizal's family played a role in making him a hero. 2. Yes, in my opinion, because parents have a significant impact on their children's career growth and decision-making. Parents want their children to be happy and successful in life, and one factor that promotes happiness and success in profession choice is parental involvement. According to study, when children feel supported and loved by their parents, they are more confident in their ability to investigate vocations and choose one that is interesting and exciting to them. This is significant because research shows that adolescents who feel competent in making job decisions later in life make more happy choices. Parents have an impact on their children's degree of education or training, their understanding of work and other occupations, their views and attitudes toward work, and their ambition to succeed. The majority of this is unknowingly taught; as children and teenagers get older, they internalize their parents' attitudes and expectations of them. However, it is debatable because some people have achieved success while not having been properly raised. However, the majority of a person's achievement is determined by how he or she was raised by his parents. 3. Yes. Firme (A07)

1. Aside from the characteristics that Rizal inherited from his parents, there are also a couple of reasons why Rizal’s family contributes to how he became a hero. One of the important factors is Rizal’s brother, Paciano Rizal, who encouraged him to continue pursuing his studies abroad. This has helped Rizal greatly in opening his mind about liberalism and the revolution that the other country achieved. His father and uncles are also interested in politics and greatly value education. Rizal’s mother, Teodora Alonso, gave the most influence to Rizal. Throughout his life, the lessons that his mother taught him had helped to keep his faith. She is also an instrument as to why Rizal is so interested in poetry, bigotry, and injustice. A profound influence also took place when Rizal's mother had been unjustly arrested for conspiring to poison a relative, even though there is not enough evidence for the arrest. This has influenced Rizal to his becoming as a political activist in the future. 2. In my opinion, success is not reliant on how a person was raised by his or her parents. There are a lot of people whom I personally know that became successful even though they were raised by other people, such as their grandparents. There are also a lot of cases where children who are raised and nurtured by their parents turned out to be rebels who cannot live independently and still rely on their parent's comfort. I believe that success is only attainable by one's willingness and determination to achieve it. For example, a child raised to be a pure and good person by their parents will not mean he or she will become a priest. It is solely by the child's determination and willingness to be one. In Jose Rizal's case, it is just fortunate that his parent's characteristics and upbringing helped him to become the strong individual that the country needs. 3. Yes. Hernandez (A07)

1) Rizal's family played a big role in molding the hero Rizal was. His parents’ teachings, ideals and values mirrored into his individuality and mindset that he and his works blossomed into a new hope for the country he loved. His mother is a disciplinarian, a person of religion and culture. She encouraged him also to dream big. Her being Jose Rizal's first teacher, she sparked Pepe's interest for literature works such as poetry. Which explains his passion for all kinds of literature thus creating his opus magnus Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. She instilled values of stoicism and self-sacrifice into her son. Therefore, explaining his self-sacrifice of dying for the country he loved. His father also influenced him for being honest and hardworking. You can tell how hardworking Rizal was most especially in his studies. Travelling abroad to quench his thirst for knowledge. He created something beautiful and patriotic. 2) The correlation of an individual's success to as to how he or she was raised cannot be overlooked, as it is impactful to how an individual would seize their present and future. Being raised right by their parents could get them far in life. That would be a huge advantage in succeeding in life. Though on the other hand, A bad upbringing could bring out the worst in them and it can be an obstacle into succeeding but it does not necessarily mean that this could ruin their life forever. There are other influences in this world that could help in building the "success mindset" not just from their parents. A lot of stories can be heard that defied this correlation that even though brought up in the worst family possible they did not let it define their future. They garnered their strength from others who were good influences in their life. 3) Yes, I did. JAKOSALEM, A07

(Salundaga, A01) 1.I think that one of the primary reasons that Rizal’s family has been a great instrument for making him a hero is her mother. At a very young age, it was Teodora Alonzo who becomes his first teacher. Also based on some articles Rizal was not even into medical courses but his desire to remove the eye ailments of his mother made him to go to Paris to specialize on ophthalmology. The Mi ultimo adios was also a poem Rizal wrote for his mother. Aside from Teodora, who opened his soul in the injustices of the country. Another factor I think that made him a great hero is the inheritance of his utmost honesty and profound feeling of dignity from his father, Francisco Mercado. Aside from his parents, I think the strong bond that lies between Paciano and Rizal has also become an influential matter since Paciano serves as his guardian while studying in Spain. Throughout it can be observed that Rizal’s family has a substantial contribution to making Rizal a hero. 2. No person is the same regardless of how they were raised by their parents and their success is independent of the family they lived in. Since grade school, it is already instilled in our minds, that Family is the basic unit of society. If we imagine a child raised by a broken family it is most likely to be different from a child raised by a complete family. In addition, a child raised by a single father/mother is most likely to be different from a child raised by their grandmother/father and so forth. While these studies tell us the disparity between a person’s identity, it can be perceived that one’s personality is a product of multivariable factors. Factors such as family, peers, institutions, and environment may operate simultaneously in the growth and development of one person’s perception and identity. For example, I and my sister grew in the same parents and the same environment, but our success differs in terms of our goals, objectives, and capabilities. Although, at the early age the child’s personality may be reflected by how they were raised at home, however, as they reach the adolescence other factors may dominate and success is undoubtedly independent no matter how they were raised at home. 3. 1) One of Jose Rizal's first teachers as a child was his mother, Teodora Alonso. Although she was known as a disciplinarian but is also calm and caring towards her children. Rizal learned how to read and write from his mother thus continuing his studies in Europe. From his mother traits, he inherited practical inheritance, stoicism, self-sacrifice, temperament of a dreamer and fondness of poetry. By his mother's example this made him one of the best students even though he still did his propagandic activities. Since his family owns a business related to agriculture, he eventually had to take over in running the family business with the knowledge of values and entrepreneurship that he learned from Teodora. Jose Rizal also applied these learnings from Teodora during his exile in Dapitan to contribute to his community. In his life, one of the main contributors that made him a political activist was his mother's arrest for crime for frustrated murder due to her allegedly poisoning her brother, Jose Alberto. 2) An individual's success can be based on how he or she was raised by his parents and his current environment from where he or she started their childhood. When a child is born into a household with a loving, well-off family, the child can grow with a cheerful disposition in life with the parents raising their child. They would teach the child values and manners from an early age so that the child would easily fit in with society. As they grow older, the child now separates with the current knowledge from his parents and goes into different environments like school where they can meet different people with several types of personalities to obtain more knowledge. With the unfamiliar environment that the child is in, he or she experiences different challenges from the people they met along the way. This allows the individual to predetermine their success from the experiences they had. To conclude, an individual can be successful based on how he or she was raised by his parents. 3) Yes Gamilo (A07)

FOJAS- A07 1. Dr. Jose Rizal's family may not be perfect but it is indeed true that nobody's perfect is. I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal's family was an instrument in making him a hero by first looking at the traits of his parents. Rizal inherited various characteristics from his mother, Teodora Alonzo, such as self-sacrifice, temperament of a dreamer and fondness of poetry which is very evident in his works and how he sacrifice his self by being dedicated to the Philippines. He also inherited characteristics from his father, Francisco Mercado, the profound feeling of dignity, self-respect, serenity, poise and seriousness that added to the reasons why people has high respect to Rizal that then resulted to his fellow Filipinos following his foot steps. It is not a secret that Rizal's family is rich that's why they are capable of giving Rizal the best education and universities in the country that I believe contributed to Dr. Jose Rizal being knowledgable and developed the sense of nationalism in him. Before his learnings from various universities, he was already engraved by his mother's teachings which was considered as his first teacher. Dr. Jose Rizal has a great foundation and support system from his family that help and encourage him to develop the sense of nationalism. 2. Individual's success will not and can never be determine by how that person was raised by his parents. However, it can contribute to how he or she perceive and do things in the future. Having said that, at an earlier stage, that person is prone to creating mistakes and following a "less-righteous" path for instance, having a wrong people in his or her circle affecting his values and beliefs in a negative way that will in turn affects his or her present situation affecting as well that person's future. But, i believe that people are always capable of many things in whatever they set their minds in. If that person who was raised wrongly according to standards of rightful parenting, will dwell on his or her current situation without planning on improving and learning new things, change cannot be sight easily at the end of the tunnel. However, if that person will continually to look for a brighter tomorrow, willing to learn and change how he or she perceive things, will do whatever it takes for his or her dreamed future, however the speed it takes that person will surely have what he or she wants. Individual's success cannot be determine by the past but by how and what an individual will do in the present affecting the success that future holds. 3. Yes.

1. I think that Dr. Jose Rizal's family was an instrument for making him our National Hero because his family proves that no family is perfect. The Rizal family wasn't perfect. They have flaws like other families. There is no such thing as an ideal family. We don't have excellent parents, we don't attract exceptional people, and we certainly don't have perfect offspring, just like the Rizal family. Nevertheless, his family supported him in his studies and ambitions. Dr. Jose Rizal’ mother Teodora Alonzo inspired young Jose Rizal. His mother was one of those who awoke his heart and eyes to the world surrounding him; religious in nature, a spirit of self-sacrifice, and a passion for arts and literature are features he inherited from his can be observed throughout his life. On the other note, I think one of the reasons his family was an instrument in making him our National Hero is because of brother Paciano, and he has a role in his life of being a guardian and role model of him or hero to him. He supported Dr. Jose Rizal when he was studying in different countries. Also, I think he made his family more proud that he was a supporter of the Katipunan and subsequently became one of the Revolutionary Army's generals. I believe his family was one of the reasons we want the Philippines to have a revolution against the Spaniards to set them free from the cruel hands of the Spaniards. 2. In my opinion, an individual's success depends on their parents. The presence, care, and love will determine their child's success in the future. Loving their children can motivate their dreams in life and the future. The parent's presence with their children is more conducive for the children to achieve their life goals. It can be seen in loving, caring for, and supporting whatever their children have accomplished. Also, I believe in the quote, "There are no bad children, just bad parents" This extraordinary quotation demonstrates the significance of parents in one's life. Parenthood is a responsible endeavor, and there is no disagreement about that. Whatever the parent does reflects on the children. Whether they do it right or wrong, it is up to the children to see how their parents live. On the other note, parents reflect on their children's success. Others might have no parents to look up to, but they don't stop achieving their dreams. They somehow find their motivation in other people surrounding them. It may be the person who raises them. Nevertheless, the parent's presence and how they grow their child will affect their children's success in the future. 3. Yes Brillo (A07)

1. I think that an individual's success is not dependent on how we were raised by our parents, but it can be a part of our growing minds. There is an impact on how we were raised by our parents since they are the ones teaching us since we were a baby, but their way of raising us will not define how we will reach our success. Achieving success will be dependent on how we see things and how we are determined to achieve our goals. It will also be dependent on our environment, and experiences in life. There is a part of our family that also helps us reach our success since they supported our education from elementary, high school, and college, but we will not be successful if we do not know how to be successful in life. We should push ourselves, learn from our mistakes, and continue to strive for success. Our individual success will mostly be dependent on ourselves. 2. I think that his parents influenced Rizal into making him a hero. Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso were both highly educated and regarded citizens. They taught their kids the importance of education, discipline, and love of country. I believe that Rizal was greatly influenced by his mother. She was a highly educated woman who stressed the value of morality, and character as well as academic subjects to her children. The influence of Rizal's family on his personality and worldview was significant. They gave him a supportive environment that promoted critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a love of his country. Rizal stayed dedicated to the cause of political and social reform despite coming from a wealthy family. He was aware of the abuses and injustices that afflicted Philippine society, and he applied his knowledge and abilities to oppose them. His ideals made him a hero and a symbol of hope for upcoming generations. 3. Yes BUENAVENTURA A18

1. One of the reasons why Dr. Jose Rizal became successful and recognized in different parts of the world is because of his family. He came from a wealthy family. Even though they have a big family, they have a family business that helped them to sustain their necessities. Rizal's brilliant mind is trained with the help of his mother, Teodora Alonzo. She was his first teacher. As Rizal grew up, he attained different professions and attributes. Because of this, his brother Paciano urged Rizal to study abroad. As we know today, Rizal knew not only in the Philippines but also abroad. As a result, Rizal wrote different publications which moved the Revolution and later helped free our country against the Spaniard's Colonizers. In summary, Dr. Jose Rizal became our hero because of his family, especially his parents. They raised Rizal properly, helped him sustain his education, and support him achieve his dreams which later became an instrument of how Rizal became one of our heroes. 2. Yes, I think that a person's success is dependent on how he or she was raised inside the home. However, this context is not ended by how he/she was raised but also must add by whom he/she was raised. Many known successful personalities were raised without a parent. They take care of either guardians, siblings, etc. Thus, even though they do not have a parent, they have other people that take care of them and have them as a role model to become successful. Also, we must add that definition of success varies for different individuals. There are times that other people think that you are already successful but deep inside you feel that you can achieve even more. In addition, being raised properly doesn’t mean that a person will become successful. There are times that a child became a rebel even though he/she was raised properly because of his/her chosen group's influence or friends. In summary, a person's success is dependent of now only on how he/she was raised but also by whom, where, his/her chosen friend influence, and his/her choice personally. 3. Yes Herrera - A07

1.Yes, Rizal's family was definitely part or were the instruments that moulded him into becoming a hero. The fact that some of his family members were involved in the revolution suggests that they all shared one thing in common and that is for the freedom of their fellow Filipinos and the Philippines. His niece Delfina Herbosa was one of the three ladies who sewn the Filipino Flag, another family member which has contributed to the revolution was Paciano Rizal his elder brother who became a General of the revolutionaries and managed to submit Spaniards in Calamba.I believe that since they share the same household they had probably shared their own ideas of how they will be able to free their motherland from the Spanish Empire this would latter on be an instrument for the contribution of Rizal becoming our National Hero. 2.No, I believe that an individual's success is not entirely dependent on how the individual was raised. Someone who was raised around the norms of his parents and people around him does not suggest that he will ultimately become successful, it may only help encourage the individual to become more aware of what is supposed to happen on certain scenarios, whereby an individual who was not raised by his parents may perhaps lack. Moreover, a person who was not raised by his parents can still be successful, one doesn't necessarily need parents to have a chance to become successful, an individual must have the passion, integrity, dream, pursuance, and etc in himself to succeed. Individuals whom actually had guidance from their parents are actually lucky that they have such people that can help on motivating them and give them advices on previous experiences they had to prevent future mistakes. Truly having parents to guide us is a gift that we should cherish and take for granted as some are not lucky to have such interactions with their parents. Yes Meranio,A06

1. For me, the greatest influence on Rizal’s development as a person was his mother Teodora Alonso. She opened up and heart to his general surroundings with its entire being and verse, as well as its unfairness. All through his life, Rizal ended up being his mom's child, similar in many ways to the old man, as he continually endeavored to keep confidence the examples she educated him. She was his first instructor, and from her he figured out how to peruse, and subsequently to esteem perusing as a method for learning and investing one's energy definitively. His mom additionally helped him to esteem hard-brought in cash and even better, the significance of frugality and of denying oneself, and saving piece of one's profit as protection against the impulses of life. In this way he figured out how to get by on a very tight budget regardless of experiencing childhood in solace and riches. She opened his eyes and heart to the world around him with all its soul and poetry, as well as its injustice. Throughout his brief life, Rizal proved to be his mother’s son, a chip off the old block, as he constantly strove to keep faith the lessons she taught him. 2. She was his first teacher, and from her he learned to read, and consequently to value reading as a means for learning and spending one’s time meaningfully. His mother also taught him to value hard-earned money and better yet, the importance of thrift and of denying oneself, and saving part of one’s earnings as insurance against the vagaries of life. Thus he learned to scrimp and save despite growing up in comfort and wealth. For me is yes the individual success is dependent on how we raised up by our parents because we first learn good manners from our parents. So when we are young, our parents teach us the right things that we will do until we are old. like Rizal his mother taught how to be a good role model for others so Rizal was set as our national hero because of the good upbringing and good teaching of his parents when he was young. 3. 1. I think Jose Rizal's family become instrumental into making him a hero by supporting him in his studies. If his family hasn't supported him to pursue his studies, Jose Rizal may not have realized how much cruelty that we've been experiencing under the Spanish government. In addition, Jose Rizal's family supported him when he goes to other country, where he met the other Filipino heroes and whom Jose Rizal collaborated for La Solidaridad. I also think that the persecution that the Rizal family received just because they were associated with a Chinese businessmen has also became instrumental of him becoming a hero. By first-handedly experiencing the cruelty of the Spaniards makes him want to be free. Moreover, being raised by a disciplinarian mother also became instrumental for Jose Rizal being a hero. Teodora Alonzo may have taught the young Jose Rizal about the right doings and raised Jose Rizal to become a fine man. Due to her teachings, Jose Rizal became more aware about the situation of our country under the systems of the Spaniards. 2. The way how a child was raised has an effect on the behavior and how the child itself think and perform a task, but for me, the individual successes of a person is both dependent and independent on how he/she was raised by his/her parents. I say this because a person's success always depend on how badly they want to succeed and what they do in order to succeed. Surely, when your parents taught you the way to become successful, you can always use that knowledge for yourself. It is like your parents have paved the way for you. Then your parents also supports you in anything you want for every way they can, can also become a sturdy stepping stone to gain your own achievements. On the other hand, when you were raised by neglectful parents, you just need to pave your own way. You need to work hard and learn different things in order to succeed. Of course, you can't expect their supports for your dreams, therefore, you also need to become mentally strong to support yourself because you will encounter many failures before you succeed. In summary, a person who were properly raised by their parents has an advantage in becoming successful, but a person who were raised a neglectful parents doesn't mean that they can't become successful, they only need to put extra work to gain success. 3. 1.) Yes. I think that it mostly has something to do with how family-oriented the Filipinos are. However, it also boils down to the individual themselves if they would push themselves to strive for success. After all, our family can only do so much, but when we reach adulthood, they can't always intervene for us. The main point is, our family is our very first teacher and supporter. A good family, who took care and disciplined their children, would shape those children to the better person they could be. We can expect the opposite if the parents were negligent or discontented, then the children may grow up to be lost, rebellious, and ungrateful to life itself. However, it can also be possible that the children would strive through these parental hardship and be a better person taught by himself/herself alone. Parents served as one of the persons they would look up to. The individual may take inspiration to be successful in life like his/her father or mother someday, while some would wish to be successful just to show his/her parents that he/she does not need the negativity from bad parents in his/her life. 2.) As I have tried to point out in the previous question, family is the foundation of one's growth and development. Surely, Rizal's family was supportive and grateful to have him as their child and family member, otherwise, we would not have the same man of peace. Aside from his great mother, Teodora Alonso who taught him well as a child, his elder brother Paciano Rizal served as his mentor who shared his own ideals, experiences, social, and political issues in the Philippines before, which supplied Rizal with enough insights as to how much the Philippines have been through fighting for independence. Furthermore, Paciano also joined the Philippine revolution, and other family members and relatives like his niece Delfina Herbosa and his alleged wife Josephine Bracken also has involvement in the revolution, whether directly or indirectly, they were supporting Rizal's idea for a change. It can be inferred that Rizal gained his courage, dedication, and resilience from his family as they have endured many, for instance, the false accusation of murder put on his mother. Not only did he come from a loving family, but in many ways, they have strengthened his ideals to push for this reform, independence, and correct injustice. 3.) Yes. Francia, (B43)

1.) Personally, his family didn't really have anything to do with his upbringing as a hero of the nation based on our lecture which focused more on Rizal's history rather than how his family was connected to his independence. But if I were to say, he's attitude which was being confident, dignified, serious, honest and his frugality, plays a big factor in his character when he decided to fight for the country he so loves which he got from his mother Teodora Alonso and his father Francisco Mercado Rizal. Being able to learn and inherit the characteristics of his mother and father made him bring out the best in his works towards his novels that resulted in the country's independence, is what I choose to believe that made his family instrumental to his story of being hero. No hero has a weak heart. Heroes must be diligent, confident, dignified, serious, honest, and frugal towards his own ambitions and towards the people he wants to believe in his beliefs. So his mom teaching him these characteristics and making them adapt these , and his father guiding him to be the man he is which is full of respect, poise, dignity, and the other factors he thought his son is what I think made Rizal the man he is and the man we remember him as he was. 2.) Personally my answer is both since I know people who weren't raised by a good set of parents, but is still nice and dependent on their own. Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing that it's stupid. This line of Albert Einstein is what my friend told me when I asked him how he survived and became the man he is. Basing on his story, I've had a realization... and that realization is that we ourselves will be responsible of what we will become in the future. It does not lie on anyone else's hand since we always have the freedom of deciding for ourselves on what and who we want to be whether we will hurt someone with that decision or not. It's not a matter of who teaches you, whether it's your parents who would teach you or whether it's your teacher, it's all about your willingness to learn and your dedication to understand to gain knowledge. Some children are rich, they have everything they need in order to progress in the world but why is it that the people with less have more of an upbringing in terms of innovation? Success isn't dependent on how they were raised because bad parents exist, it's only dependent on how that individual will progress, If they decide to do stupid things and ask how to fix em, or ask stupid questions and know how to already fix them. 3.) 1.) In my own opinion, I think that an individual's success is not dependent on how he or she was raised by his parents because the influence of parents on an individual's success is a significant factor but it depends on the child who brings own success in his/her life. A parent's guidance plays a vital role in shaping a person's values, beliefs, and work ethic but there are a lot of factors that contribute to an individual's success. Personal motivation, determination, and perseverance are vital factors that can drive success. Even if someone has faced challenging circumstances during their upbringing, they can still achieve remarkable success through their own efforts and resilience. Not all are given a chance to have their parents as they reach and achieve success in life. In today's reality, people with no parental guidance are more successful in life because of their personal motivation. Parents undeniably play a crucial role in shaping an individual's values, beliefs, and character, the outcome is not solely determined by parental influence. Success is a multifaceted concept influenced by a combination of factors, including personal attributes, external opportunities, and individual choices. 2.) Rizal's family was instrumental into making him a hero by way of his parents who recognized the value of education and provided him with a solid educational foundation. They ensured that Rizal received formal education and encouraged his intellectual development. This education equipped Rizal with the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary for his later endeavors. Also, Rizal's family instilled in him important values such as love for the country, compassion, and a sense of justice. These values guided Rizal throughout his life and influenced his actions, including his fight for social reforms and national liberation. In addition, Rizal's family recognized and nurtured his talents and interests. They supported his pursuits in various fields. This support allowed Rizal to develop his intellectual and artistic abilities, enabling him to become a prominent writer, artist, and scientist. Overall, Rizal's family played a crucial role in shaping his character, providing him with education, nurturing his talents, instilling values, and offering moral support. These factors contributed to his development as a national hero and influenced his contributions to Philippine history and the struggle for independence. 3.) Yes -DE GUIA, B43

1) She instilled the skill to read in her children. Discipline, fairness, and compassion were among the principles she established in them. On the other hand, she taught her children the importance of treating Indios with dignity. Rizal would later use these abilities and his sense of justice to fight for his mother, whom he admired. If the Spaniards did anything to stoke the fires within Rizal, it was to punish his mother for misdoings she had not performed. Rizal's mother, Teodora Alonso, was the one who had the most impact on his development as an individual. She was the one who first educated him about the society surrounding him, with all of its soul and poetry as well as prejudice and injustice. She was the one who first exposed him to the world around him, with all of its soul and poetry as well as hatred and injustice. Throughout his brief life, Rizal was confirmed to be his mother's son, a chip off the old block, as he continuously strived to keep faith in her lessons. 2) Yes, I believe an individual’s success is dependent on how raised by parents because his Rizal's mother instilled in him the value of hard-earned money and the importance of thrift and self-denial to save a portion of one's earnings as a hedge against life's whims. Despite growing up in luxury and affluence, he learned to save and pinch. These would later come in handy for him during his time in Europe. He struggled with poverty due to his family's meager and frequently delayed allowance. He went without lunch and supper whenever his meager allowance ran out, putting on a show for everyone by going out of his dormitory every day to give the impression that he ate his meals outside. However, as he walked the streets of Berlin or Barcelona, the delicious aromas of the dishes being prepared inside buildings and houses assaulted his nostrils, exacerbating his hunger and suffering. He also saved money on rent by skipping breakfast entirely and eating only biscuits and water for a month. Above all, he learned about obedience from her, as evidenced by the moth's story of who was burned by the flame because he disobeyed his mother moth's warning not to get too close to the love. On the other hand, life has a weird way of spinning around. His mother's teaching of Catholic Church obedience became challenging to follow, mainly when he wrestled with a crisis of confidence in its doctrines. He learned the importance of self-improvement from his mother, and as a result, as he grew older, he worked hard to understand the logic of mathematics, write poems, draw and sculpt, and paint. 3) Yes OLAES, A07

1) Jose Rizal’s big family was one of the keys to making him a great person and making him a hero. Starting off from his parents, it can be seen that they both have strong identities. Teodora Alonzo was a mother of culture and religion, a disciplinarian, and a sacrificing and industrious wife. Jose Rizal’s self-sacrifice, religious nature, being a dreamer, and passion for literature were all inherited from his mother. On the other hand, Francisco Mercado was the father and a model of honesty, industry, and frugality wherein Rizal inherited self-respect, seriousness, a sense of dignity, calmness, and poise. His siblings also helped him become a hero besides his parents. Paciano Rizal, his only brother, encouraged Jose Rizal to study abroad, particularly in Spain (from what I’ve seen in a video before). Rizal’s other siblings were also instrumental in making him a hero as they are the ones whom Rizal fought for when they were evicted from their hometown in Calamba, Laguna. He wanted to live together with his parents, sisters, and brother in peace and far from persecution in the Philippines. 2) No, I don’t agree that an individual's success is DEPENDENT on how he or she was raised by his/or her parents. The role of our parents is to provide the needs, support, and love to their children. They are responsible for teaching us what is right and wrong to let us grow and develop well. As a child, our parents are our role models in life and others dream to be like their mom or dad when they grow up. But for me, the success of an individual does not depend on how you were raised or treated by your family. It comes within you and only yourself. The better term to replace the word dependent is “influenced”. You are influenced by your parents' qualities and beliefs while growing up. As I remember from my previous SS course, we have these “ideal and true” selves. The ideal self is letting yourself portray the self you want to be while the true self is what makes you yourself. The connection of your parents to yourself belongs to the true self where both good and bad traits can be inherited. Meanwhile, the traits you wanted for others to see (as well as for yourself) are made through self-discovery and continuous learning that only you can make. Therefore, one’s success is made by you and no one else. 3) YES, I watched the entire video lecture. Yap (A01)

1. Rizal’s family was one of the instruments on why Rizal became a hero. Rizal’s family supported Rizal in his life. For example, Rizal was practicing medicine in Hong Kong and his mother, Paciano, and his sisters stayed with him. Jose Rizal was arrested because he was putting up the La Liga Filipina in 1892 and he lived in the Dapitan and because of that Rizal’s mother and his sisters were frequent visitors. Some of the few members of the Rizal Family became part of the revolution such as Paciano Rizal. Paciano Rizal became the General of the Revolutionaries in Calamba. Delfina Herbosa, Niece of Jose Rizal, joined the revolution and she was the 3 ladies who sew the first National Flag. Paciano Rizal protected Jose Rizal since he told to Rizal to use his name Rizal as a family name to avoid persecution. Rizal’s family may not be perfect but there are one of the reasons on why Rizal became the hero. 2. I think an individual’s success is dependent on how he or she was raised by his or her parents. Parents are one of the biggest reasons on why an individual can be a successful person since parents are with us ever since in the beginning of our life. Being a good role model parents can help their children in being a successful in the future. Parents can be an inspiration to their children so that children will be inspired to them, and they can adapt their parents for the future. Everyone’s success is dependent on how he was raised by his parents since parents sacrifice for the sake of their children’s future. Without the help of our parents, we can not be the person who we are today and be successful in the future. For example, if parents raised their children that would make his or her future successful, he or she will surely successful one day. 3. Yes Lara(A07)

Rizal's mother, Teodora Alonzo, was a severe disciplinarian, cultured and religious mother, and devoted and diligent housewife. Rizal inherited practicality, self-restraint, self-sacrifice, and a love of poetry from his mother. Rizal's mother had the most influence on his personal growth. She was one who exposed him to the world, with all of its poetry, including its intolerance and injustice. Throughout his young life, Rizal demonstrated that he was his mother's son, a chip off the old block, as he worked tirelessly to maintain trust in the principles she taught him. Also, I believe Rizal's mother inspired him to fight the revolution via poetry because he received that trait from her mother. and I think that this is how Rizal's family contributed to his becoming a hero. 2. In my perspective, yes, because parents have a huge influence on their children's career development and decision-making. Parents want their children to be successful in life, and parental participation is one aspect that supports happiness and success in career choices. According to one research (Maccoby 2000), when youngsters feel loved and encouraged by their parents, they are more confident in their abilities to examine professions and pick one that is intriguing and exciting to them. This is essential because studies suggest that children who feel capable of making work choices later in life make happier judgments. Parents influence their children's educational level or training, comprehension of work as well as other occupations, ideas and attitudes about work, and desire to succeed. 3. Yes Agraviador(A07)

1. In my opinion, how a person is raised by their parents can have an impact on their success. The way parents bring up their children can shape their early experiences and values. Parents who value education, offer support, and teach strong moral values can have a positive influence on their child's growth. The values and work habits instilled during childhood can affect an individual's determination to pursue their goals. But I believe that while upbringing is not the sole factor determining success, it can significantly contribute to a person's overall achievements. However, it's not a simple yes-or-no answer. On the one hand, parents who prioritize education and provide resources and opportunities for learning can help their children achieve academic success, which can be important for overall success. On the other hand, individuals have the ability to make choices and shape their own futures, regardless of their upbringing. Even if someone comes from a disadvantaged background, they can still take control of their life and work towards their goals. By providing support, mentorship, and guidance, parents can assist their children in facing difficulties, establishing objectives, and cultivating essential life abilities. This assistance has the potential to foster adaptability and self-confidence in individuals, empowering them to overcome obstacles and pursue achievement. 2. I believe that the family of Rizal played a crucial role in shaping him into a revered national hero. Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso, his parents, instilled in him enduring principles such as a passion for learning, a strong sense of love for his country, and a dedication to justice and fairness. They fostered an environment of support and encouragement that nourished his intellectual pursuits and personal growth. Rizal's mother, in particular, had a profound influence on his character and education. With her own education and deep religious beliefs, she imparted invaluable knowledge and values to him. The importance that Rizal's family placed on education, good values, and thinking critically provided a strong foundation for his later writings and activism. This upbringing ignited his passion to fight for the rights and freedom of the Filipino people. The sacrifices made by Rizal's family were also instrumental in his heroism. Despite facing risks and persecution from Spanish authorities, they stood unwaveringly behind Rizal and his principles, demonstrating their commitment to the cause of Philippine independence. 3. 1. There are several things in our lives that have shaped us into the people we are now. It might be teachings ingrained in us by our parents when we were young, or lessons we learn from various events and individuals we meet. Just like Jose Rizal, he became a national hero because of his family and personal circumstances. Rizal's mother, Teodora Alonso, was the most influential in his personal development. His mother never fails to teach him by reading him a piece of literature with moral values. His family was always there for him to support in everything he does. With the teachings and experiences, he gained as he travelled and roamed during his early years, he achieved success as both a hero and a person. Because to Dona Teodora's influence, his family was strongly attracted toward studies, which contributed immensely to Rizal's success as a person. Moreover, Paciano had a huge influence on Rizal's life. He keeps his younger brother up to date on the friars' actions in the Philippines through letters. He also supported the Katipunan and later served as a commander in the Revolutionary Army. 2. In my own opinion, parents have a significant effect on their children's job growth and career decisions. Parents want their children to be happy and successful in life, and profession choice is one aspect that promotes happiness and success. According to study, when children feel supported and loved by their parents, they have greater confidence in their abilities to investigate vocations and select one that is intriguing and exciting. However, we cannot deny that a child can achieve success even if they are not handled as they should be. Parents were present to support their children, but in the end, it must be up to their children to make the decision. I think that even if you were not properly raised, you can achieve success with the assistance of people who believe in you. 3. Yes. Banzon (A07)

1) José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda was born on June 19, 1861, on a Wednesday night. Francisco Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonso Realonda had ten children, and he was the seventh. Jose Rizal has been destined to be a great man since the day he was born. He had a wonderful family, was in a Principalia class where each of the family's children was able to attend school, lived in a nice house, and managed to earn from farms and businesses. Rizal's family had a great influence on him and was instrumental in turning him into a hero. Her mother paved the way for him to become a great man; she is well educated and even speaks Spanish fluently, and she was Rizal's first instructor. She teaches him principles that will help him grow into a decent person and succeed in life. She also encouraged a love of spirituality and virtue in her children, including Rizal, by teaching them to read the Bible. Rizal's mother also inspired him to study medicine in college because he wanted to be able to cure his mother's eye. The second person who helped and influenced him is his only brother who was like a second father to him and is considered to be his best friend, Paciano Rizal. Paciano was able to send Rizal to Europe to study, he was very supportive that he gave up his dreams of studying so that he can fulfill his brother’s. All of her siblings weren’t really involved in Rizal’s life however Rizal treasured and loved them so much. Aside from his own family, he was also influenced by his mother’s brothers. Rizal's Tio Jose, the youngest of her mother's brothers, motivated him to improve his chances of becoming a sculptor. When the Rizal paints, he is inspired by him. Tio Manuel persuaded him to venture outdoors. His Tio Gregorio taught him the importance of hard work, thorough observance of life, and the ability to make decisions for himself. In conclusion to that, Rizal had a great family before he wrote all his works against the Spaniards. Despite all the problems he and his family faced, they were still able to stand and fight for themselves til’ the end of time, just like what Rizal did until he died. Using the values, lessons, and skills he learned from his family, he was able to apply it all to become a good person and be one of the most influential people that we Filipinos looked up to. That is why his family is an instrument in him becoming our National Hero. Our family is always part of our success and always will be. 2) I believe that individual success is not dependent on how he or she was raised by parents. Instead, I believe that it is from our own doings. Our parents were the first people to teach us some basic values and morals in our lives, they are the first ones to shape us into becoming a man who lives freely outside. But as we grew older and are able to learn the reality in life, we must not be dependent on them, instead, we should just take their advice and apply it to our doings in order to be successful, since our parents know what is best for us, right? We cannot deny the fact that we need our parents to guide and be there for us every time, but individual success matters only to you and what you did. Because we, ourselves, only know what we can do, how far we can go, what our skills and specialties and how those will be applied towards success. We are the only ones doing our best to be successful, and we are doing it not just for ourselves but for our family. And our parent is just part of our success, we shall not depend on them, instead, we have to live for ourselves and prove to them that we are worthy of their sacrifices for us and remember that they are the one who will gain our success, so we must always do our best individually. 3) Yes BALDOVINO, A07

Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, had the biggest impact on his personal growth. She inspired him in comprehending the world through his heart and writing. In addition, Paciano had a significant impact on Rizal's life. He would send money to Spain on a regular basis and keep his younger brother informed about the friars' misdeeds in the Philippines through letters. He also backed the Katipunan and subsequently served as a commander in the Revolutionary Army. His success as a person and as a hero is purely down to his family, who have always supported him in his objectives and desires. They supported him by influencing his education, talents, and skills. All of these beliefs then created Rizal's ideals in life, and his education made him great, which made him a great hero who fought and died for his country. 2. In my perspective, parents have a tremendous impact on the lives of their children. I believe that how a child was raised by their parents may have a significant impact on an individual's ability to succeed. However, I disagree with the notion that how a child was raised determines how successful a child will be. As time passes, kids will get fresh insights on how to choose which road to take in the future, and they will be the ones to make that decision, not their parents. Furthermore, some children have attained success despite having encountered certain traumatic events in their lives; this is because they utilized it as a motivator to push themselves up and become successful. Success is dependent not only on how they raised their children but also on their children's ability to make sensible decisions in order to be successful in life. 3. Yes. - Sebastian (A07)

Jose Rizal's family is not only prominent family. They have a fair share of flaws, immoralities, and struggles. Rizal's parents and siblings have a bigger role on how they shape him, with his character, mind and aspirations. On how Rizal became a polymath, a nationalist and a hero. Every child's success may depend on how he/she is raised by his/her parents. In the mentioned video, Rizal grew up in the disciplinarian home setup and acquired some characteristics from his parents. They have a big part not only in their own families but also in their own land. Rizal family not only live in their own hometown but also through different parts of the country and different parts of the world. They are so flexible. They learn how to live in their comfort zone. 1. For me, Rizal's family members helped establish his reliable biography. Another thing is they are the closest people in his entire life; they can be Rizal's inspiration or motivation in pursuing success in life. The mother of Rizal, Teodora, had the strongest influence on his personal development. She was the one who first exposed him to the world around him, with all of its soul and poetry as well as ignorance and unfairness. Rizal proved to be his mother's son, a chip off the old block, throughout his young life, as he continually strived to preserve trust in the principles she taught him. Teodora was his first tutor, and it was through her that he learned to read and, as a result, to value reading as a way of learning and using one's time productively. Also, some of the members of his family participated in the revolution wherein we all know Rizal has started, in a way we can see that they are also part of Rizal's road to becoming a hero. 2. I believe that our parents have the biggest contribution to an individual's success. If I would relate it to myself, all of the simple and big things that I have accomplished or I can call success is that I always think of my parents and what they have thought and how they have raised me, I trust them because they are the ones who know the right thing for me. They do not decide for me, but in every decision, before I say yes or no I always consult, which helped me achieve my goals in life. Their wisdom is what I can cherish every step of the way or in every goal, I want to attain. Therefore, I think it is legal to credit parents for an individual's success. 3. Yes Tagalog, A01

1) An individual's success is not solely dependent on how his parents raised him or her. There are people who find success even though they are on bad terms with their parents but even so, they find ways to be successful in life. I think that parents play a vital role in how their child will become in the future but it is up to them to make their life into what they want. Parents in our life play as only our support, who will guide us and remind us of what we want in life and tells us the things that we need in order to achieve it but it is still up to us how we will be able to accomplish that goal or dream of ours. Nobody is perfect, even how we raise by our parents will sometimes be rocky, and there will be misunderstandings, but they are always there to support us no matter what. 2) Rizal's family was not perfect, there were some problems along the way, frequently changing places to live in from time to time, and there were secrets that they do not want anyone else to know about, and who knows what kind of internal problems they went through at that time. What is important was the result, Rizal as we know it today, he is our national hero. He was the instrument and the vital player who inspired our fellow Filipinos to make the revolution and independence against Spain happen. With Rizal our hero, it means that his family played a vital role for him to be able to grow up thinking of ways to save his country. Even though maybe not all his siblings supported him fully, siblings fight from time to time but with all that they grew closer to each other. All of them inspired Rizal to be the hero he is today and supported him all the way. 3) YES (CAGAMPANG, B43)

1. Rizal's family has been instrumental for him to be a hero in a way that his family has shaped his personality. His mother, Teodora Alonso, was the first to influence him since he was a child to become an educated, brave and principled Filipino. It was said in the video lesson that his family came from a wealthy family that even though he still did not forget to help his own country, he used correctly what he learned to fight for the Philippines. Many of his relatives were involved in the revolution which affirmed his beliefs and principles as a Filipino. From the very start, the love that came from the family of Dr. Jose Rizal, our hero, taught him to love our country, the Philippines. 2. I don't think that an individual's success is depend on how he or she was raised by his parents. Yes, parents are the first people a child will meet, they are the first to hold and carry the baby. With parents a child learns the first word he or she speaks. I believe that parents are the one who shapes the mind and heart of their child, they are the one who guide and train them to become successful someday. But of course, as we grow older our thinking develops, different from the thinking of our parents because of the environment and generation we live in. Success of an individual depends on how he or she sees everything, how open-minded he is to accept things in different views. The parent only helps in the beginning to guide a child but in the end the success is in their own hands. 3. Yes Balubar (A07)

1.) The question of whether an individual's success is solely dependent on how they were raised by their parents is complex and multifaceted. While parental upbringing and early experiences can have a significant impact on an individual's development and opportunities, success is influenced by various factors beyond parental influence. Parental upbringing plays a crucial role in shaping a person's values, beliefs, and early skill development. The quality of the parent-child relationship, the level of support and guidance provided, and the values instilled by parents can all contribute to a child's overall development. A nurturing and supportive environment can foster self-confidence, motivation, and a strong work ethic, which can positively impact an individual's chances of success. However, it is essential to recognize that success is a result of a complex interplay between individual effort, personal abilities, external opportunities, and societal factors. Other factors, such as access to education, socioeconomic conditions, personal resilience, mentorship, and individual drive, also significantly influence an individual's success. 2.) Rizal's family played an instrumental role in shaping him into a national hero of the Philippines. His family provided a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment that nurtured his talents and values. Rizal's parents, Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso, were both highly educated and believed in the power of education to uplift individuals and society. They instilled in Rizal a strong sense of patriotism, moral values, and the importance of intellectual pursuits. Rizal's mother, Teodora Alonso, was particularly influential in his upbringing. She was an advocate for education and encouraged Rizal's intellectual pursuits. She introduced him to the works of Enlightenment thinkers, exposing him to ideas of liberty, equality, and social justice. Teodora Alonso also played a vital role in shaping Rizal's character, instilling in him a strong sense of empathy, compassion, and the desire to fight for justice. The values, education, and support provided by Rizal's family laid the foundation for his intellectual pursuits, writings, and his role as a reformist. Rizal's family's influence, combined with his own innate talents, passion for justice, and love for his country made him, him. 3.)YES Roxas(B34)

1. Rizal’s family was instrumental into making him a hero because a few of them had active participation in the revolution. For example, Paciano was his older brother who told him to use the name “Rizal” as their family surname to avoid persecution as their real surname, “Mercado”, was associated with the Chinese people who were heavily discriminated by the Spaniards at that time. Another thing was that Paciano was a general of the Revolutionaries in Calamba City and a notable deed that he had done was that he made the Spaniards in the said city surrender after a siege. Next, Delfina Herbosa was Jose’s niece and one of the 3 women who sew the first Philippine national flag. Another was Josephine Bracken who was the so-called wife of Jose whom joined the Katipunan after his death who also fought in the numerous battles in Cavite under Emilio Aguinaldo. Among these important figures in his life, the one who heavily inspired him was his mother, Teodora Alonso. She taught him the importance of learning and valuing time. She also taught him the value of hard work and to become thrifty. His story about the moth and the lamp was heavily inspired from his mother’s teachings about being obedient. Lastly, her unjust arrest inspired Rizal to become a political activist as he saw the unfair treatment and accusations being thrown at her. 2. Yes, because our parents lead by example. They taught us how to survive in our everyday living and to make use of what we have. Generally speaking, they always want the best for us and desire nothing but our success in every endeavor that we do or path that we take. They also help in shaping our behavior by allowing us to learn from our mistakes and to differentiate what is right from what is wrong and what is considered as morally upright from what is not. Another thing is that they also constantly remind us that the only thing that could help us until we reach the end of our lives here on Earth is to become a decent person and to always be willing to learn about anything, even outside of school premises. Also, our parents taught us the value of efforts and time like how Teodora taught young Jose. Our behavior is also partially influenced by the environment we have at home. If a child grew up in a hostile home, he/she would most likely embody it until he/she becomes a parent and start a family the same way as when a child grew up being showered by both love and affection. I believe that the parents’, or the guardians’, are primarily responsible for shaping a child’s character and it heavily influences how he/she responds in a social situation. 3. 1.) The family of Rizal becomes instrumental in making him our national hero and started a spark of revolution through the use of his writing skill against the Spaniard colonizers and attaining the independence of our country. Moreover, the one member of the Rizal family who had the greatest influence and development on the life of Jose Rizal is his mother, Teodora Alonso. Further, his mother was his first teacher where he learned to read and value reading as means for the learning and success of an individual by spending one’s time efficiently and meaningfully. Additionally, his mother is the one that opened his eyes and heart of Jose Rizal to the world around him and taught him poetry about bigotry and injustice of the government, which help him to improve and develop the writing skills that he used to fight back against the colonizers. Also, one of the turning moments of the life of Jose Rizal was the unfair arrestment of his mother in the formal accusation of conspiring to poison a relative, which had a profound influence on Jose Rizal to become a political activist and later on, known as our national hero. 2.) In my opinion, the success of an individual in the future does not depend on how the parents raised and influenced the lives of their children since there are several aspects for the individual to become successful in life, such as being conscientiousness, making a life decision, and the choice to be influenced by the environment. Additionally, it is the judgment of an individual to choose the right and wrong for their lives that can lead them to become successful or not. Moreover, some individuals have both parents on their side to support them in their dreams and life, which gives them some advantages and a lot of opportunities for them to become successful, and some of them are still not successful in life. On the other hand, some individuals do not have parents on their side to support them, so does it mean that there are not successful in life. Yet, those individuals are the ones that strive more to become successful due to their own experiences in life. 3.) Yes - Lafiguera (A07)

1) Given the information form the provided lecture video, we have known the Dr. Jose Rizal's family is far from perfect. Hearing the surname "Rizal", we immediately think about one person, and that is Dr. Jose Rizal, but we tend to overlook the things that his family has done for molding him as a human being and being so instrumental into making him a hero. His family members such as his sisters, they were brave to stand on their own two feet in being untouched by the Spaniards. They were so instrumental in making him as a hero by stepping over their family flaws and teaching Dr. Jose Rizal how to act and live properly. Their help may not be as impactful because the attitude of a child is not affected by it's family, but it surely helped. They took pride after the majority knew what the Rizal's can do, and helped their son/brother in making the country better. 2) I don't think that and individual's success is dependent on how he or she was raised by his/her parents. Yes, it can affect the child in the early years of its life if he or she was raised badly, but in the later years if that child learns on how the world works it can easily be deflected and can only be a hump on the road. It depends on how the person take it into heart, brain, and action. If he/she takes it whole heartedly, he or she will just make his grave more deeper, but if he/she just takes it as a motivation and thinks that he/she will work hard so that his future children will have a better life than them, then no it will not affect the individual's success. Nonetheless, I think an individual's success will only be dependent on how he/she was raised if he/she takes it as a counterincentive than it will surely affect his/her success. 3) Yes Tataro - A07

1. Rizal's family also had lots of contributions to Rizal's journey to becoming a hero. Since the environment hones the child's capability to understand and develop manners, thus, it is a big factor for an individual to consider what kind of environment he or she grew up. For Rizal, starting from his parents, his mother Teodora Alonzo is a disciplinarian, and a mother of culture. She is also the first teacher of Dr. Rizal. In the video, Dr. Rizal inherited his mother's practical temperament, stoicism, self-sacrifice, temperament of a dreamer, and poetry. In addition, Rizal is more influenced by his mother because her characteristics, and teachings helped Jose in opening his eyes to the world. Furthermore, he also inherited from his father, Francisco Mercado, his dignity, self-respect of serenity, and seriousness. These characteristics that he inherited or adapt from his parents made him become who he is, and his love for his family also created a path for his journey. For instance, in the video, when Rizal's family was evicted in Calamba, Rizal asked the Spanish government to have the evictees settle in Sabah. If the Spanish government approved his request, then maybe we will not have Dr. Jose Rizal as our national hero. In conclusion, Rizal's family's way of teaching and honing Rizal's way of understanding, and knowledge is a big contribution to Rizal's journey to becoming a hero. 2. In my perspective, no, success is not dependent on the parent's way of raising a child. An individual is greatly influenced by his or her environment. However, a person is also influenced by their parents, but as time passes by, the time of interactions between parents and child became less thus, it does not entirely depend on the parent's way of raising a child. Moreover, the learnings that an individual encounter at a thing, event, or person also contributes to a person's success. For instance, a person's failure can help him build certain characteristics like being more positive, or becoming more driven to his goals. Parent's teaching is the foundation of our character. For instance, as a child we are taught that fighting is bad but, as we grew up we learn that fighting is not bad especially if it is for self-defense. To sum it up, a person is more influenced by his or her environment, since this is where they will get the important learning that may lead to his or her success. 3. Yes Buenconsejo, A01

1. Jose Rizal’s family contributed to shaping our national hero, Jose Rizal. Before even Jose Rizal was filled with love for our country, his family was already suffering under the rule of the Spanish government. Rizal’s family was already involved in actions against the Spanish government specifically his older brother, Paciano Rizal. The influence of Jose Rizal’s older brother was one of the contributing factors in shaping him. Jose Rizal’s mother, Teodora Alonso raised Jose Rizal in such a way that he knows the harsh reality of the state of the Philippines early. The early opening of Jose Rizal’s eyes probably made him seek a path that should end his family’s suffering which made him into an author, poet, ophthalmologist, journalist, and novelist. Due to his family’s suffering, the way his mother raised him, and his sibling’s involvement in actions against the Spanish government, Jose Rizal’s sheer will and determination against the Spanish government and love for the Philippines grew. 2. An individual is shaped through experiences. The first experience an individual goes through is being raised by their parents. This experience usually creates the foundation of a person. However, the created foundation is subject to change. Hence, I do not think that an individual’s success is solely dependent on how they were raised by their parents but as a contributing factor to an individual’s success. Having a good foundation often would lead to a good future. Although the way a person was raised is a contributing factor to an individual’s success, a lot of other factors such as growth, character development, experiences, and peers also contribute to an individual’s success. As a person goes through different experiences in their life, it may or may not contribute to their success. The experience could be beneficial or detrimental depending on the circumstances. To put it simply, everything and everyone you encounter every day may make or break you. 3. Yes TORRES (A01)

1.) Rizal’s family was instrumental into making him a hero because of the power and connection that they were able to maintain while he grew up. His father was above the average, in terms of money, was able to rent a huge plot of land and send him to school abroad which opened his mind to the sickening acts of the Spaniards. His family was able to provide him the essential needs that many couldn’t afford at those times, and this became his stepping stone towards what he was able to achieve. Connections such as the Mexican priest who inspired Rizal. His family wasn’t the most perfect one but they were able to do what a family does and help him develop his traits and intellect. The power that his family had was really instrumental to open the true potential of Rizal, and the support of his siblings after his death was also essential to the outcome. 2.) Personally, I don’t think that an individual’s success is dependent on how that child was raised by his/her parents, because based on my experience it all about the mind set and “Lakas ng loob”. The decision on how you will live your life and how you want to learn things is all up to you, not anyone else outside. Based on my experience, I have a broken family and my mom most of the time is abroad majority of my childhood, I was raised properly but majority of my development was done solely by myself. Currently, I am able to achieve grades that is higher than what I would expect, interact properly with others, and I didn’t develop any life-threatening addictions. I could say that I’m on my phase towards “success” and majority of it was due to my individual development. Many out there is raised better than me, treated better, and got the full support of his/her parents, but many of them fall into a rabbit hole and wasn’t able to develop his/her full potential. The way on how a parent raised their child is very crucial, but it is very irresponsible if we only rely our “success” on that. 3.) YESSS!!! - RIVERA, A01

1. Jose Rizal was born into a family of 13, nine sisters and one brother. Juan and Cirila Mercado had 13 children, the youngest of whom was Jose Rizal. Every member of Rizal's family gave a significant aspect on how Rizal would envision his growth, and builded his character that turned him into a hero. But, the person who had the greatest influence of Rizal's development as a person was his mother, Teodora Alonso. She was the one who first opened his eyes and heart to the world around him, with all of its soul and poetry as well as its intolerance and injustice. Jose Rizal was born into a family that rented land from Dominicans to produce sugar cane, which was a lucrative commodity at the time. His family's experiences gave him an insight into the life of a farmer. Rizal was also encouraged to be a surveyor at some point in his time. 2. Yes. We may all be born and raised differently, but the way how we are raised creates the success that is dependent on ourselves. Parents have an impact on their children's educational or learning, as well as their understanding of work and other occupations, their views and attitudes toward work, and their ambition to succeed. As children develop their personalities and identities, as well as as they progress physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially, parents provide the most intimate framework for the nurturing and safeguarding of their children. As youth, we have the ability to created a new outlook as to what we have learned throughout our lives. Just like Rizal, his family's greatest influence on him envision out his future that turned him into a hero. He may or may not have expected that his life would turn out that way, but he fought for it. 3. YES. (PINEDA, A06)

1. How we develop as people or as individuals is influenced by our parents and family. They are the ones who first teach us what is right and wrong, making them our first teachers. Success in life shouldn't be influenced by the parenting style of the individual. I am aware of numerous individuals who have achieved success independently. Additionally, not every child is as fortunate as others, and these circumstances shouldn't stand in the way of the desires that lie ahead of us. Maybe having a person or someone with guidance is advantageous, but when it comes to our success, we shouldn't rely on others. Additionally, success implies different things to every one of us. And we should be grateful for all of life's little victories. Just like Rizal’s family, as stated earlier no family is perfect, we all have each own flaws but it did not became a problem for Rizal to be our national hero. 2. Rizal’s family is not perfect but it did not affect Rizal to fight for the freedom of our country. According to the video lecture I watched Jose Rizal first teacher was her mother who is Doña Teodora Alonso which is also a disciplinarian and a hard-working mother, we can see that Rizal’s family is very supportive to him, when he was jailed in Dapitan the family often visits him and they also all went to Hong Kong to be with Dr. Jose Rizal. The family support and the determination to free the country maybe Rizal’s spark to successfully make a revolution. In addition, Rizal was truly blessed to have this kind of family. The opportunity of having a wealthy or well-off family was used by him to study abroad which he gained knowledge from that; the family may also have a great minds which was inherited on their father and mother. In conclusion, having a family that supports and believes in you is a blessing but we should not lose hope if there are no family members supporting because we should more be a believer of ourselves. 3.
