Great video, I run a monster on my 5t with a Taylor 35. The locker made the truck so much quicker, it used to spin tires a lot, now she grips and rips!
totally with you on this one!! I hate center diffs in general, not like we are racing on a packed/loose dirt track where you need that with a 1/8 buggy. IDK why they put these on monster trucks that need full 4WD at all times usually. luckily for me the redcat rampage series does not have a center diff!!!!
Nice great info I have a question do you know if this diff locker will fit the RCMK XCR 1200 SE I spoke to Steve he didn’t know you may have a lil more info thanks Eric..
This would be okay under those bashing conditions however, I would only recommend you lock no more than the center diff. You'll get 50/50 power distribution at the expense of cornering dynamics but thats fine for a basher. Also, by not locking the front/rear diffs you won't be as hard on the drive line which means less breakages. Locking the center diff is not as horrendous as people make it seem.
@@Clickbaiters Yea well, I put this locker on my dbxl-e 2.0 and on the 1st run, it bent both rear drive axles. On the second run, it broke gears inside both front and rear diffs.
Here's my experience with the locker on my dbxl-e 2.0. I installed the locker and on the 1st run, it bent both rear drive axles. Replaced and on the second run, both front and rear diffs has to be rebuilt. It now has the stock center diff put back in w/ 20mil fluid. The locker might be ok if your drag racing the rc, but isn't worth it (imo) for bashing. But to be fair, it came with a piece of paper that says parts can break using this locker.
I cant see how a center locker would make you "break" stuff more ... you still have a diff either end that has give in it. Also, I would think putting a locker in the center would also eliminate power loss in that area ... any extra weight in the driveline is no good ... especially having such thick oils in there ... anytime that center diff is spinning, thats power being loss to heat. What do you guys think?
@@ddteamrc6461 okay thanks for the info. I live in Orlando Florida and it's not much help with 5th scales here that I can see so far. I will stay in touch through your channel for some much-needed advice.
@@ddteamrc6461 (((((((((( Then you have to search and pour ooooochen thick oil. Or block the gearbox. Question. And how many teeth on the spurs in the video ????
@@eduardomendoncadeoliveira5745 yes! We run it in our " King of the Mountain " video here is the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sMzua2Be6zY.html
Center diffs are a by product of racing buggies and are just something else that get loose, need shimming, strip teeth and add extra weight, even more pointless when fitted in a crawler with slipper clutches. Tamiya have managed without them for 40+ years.
