Metal player here. I wiggle the absolute hell outta my neck sometimes. Hit a harmonic at high gain then get some neck wiggle in. Beautiful. I only really play hardtails, so neck wiggle is crucial for some kinds of vibrato. If I play an open chord, I can't get vibrato with my fingers evenly, and some of the strings I don't even have fingers on... so neck wiggle. Plus the harmonic thing I"ve already mentioned. It's a great way to get some movement in a harmonic if you don't have a whammy bar. Big believer in the neck wiggle.

The best thing about the "Neck Wiggle" is that it stops guitarists from playing so many meaningless notes. I hate the way it looks, but it has a good effect on overplaying.

Yes, this is annoying. Paul Davids does this all the time. Sometimes effect is very subtle almost no effect at all but still he emphasizes those motions like ... I can't even make a good comparison. I tried wiggling my ukulele by waving it while holding in fretting hand. Tricky to do but creates nice chorus effect.

Hey hey Krisz! Oh, I had to bite on that bit of RU-vid appetizer! So... if you ask me, it's all about the neck wiggle! I sometimes go as far as the Neck Push... which really shares some Gibson set neck types... but I love the way out sounds! Have yet to break a neck off, but would that look cool on stage! Most over the top neck wiggle ... Weird Al, doing "Smells Like Nirvana"... just watch the video and you'll see what I mean! 🤣😂😎🤘🎸

There's a video floating around on YT where Bill Frisell explains that he had an SG in the early 80s and he tried to get the fingered chords into tune with neck wiggle because the dissonant friction of the impure intervals bothered him... I sometimes do this with Flageolets on my LP Special since it doesn't have a whamy bar. No dive bombs of course 😬

I did that but as I found out that it makes a difference to tone pretty much in the same degree as my guitar faces, I stopped and got myself a guitar with a vibrato equipped guitar. Wiggling is too subtle effect to be useful IMO, unless you are the only musician in a band. 90% of mixes will mask it anyway. Well, it does not annoy me unless you use chorus AND wiggle... I mean... Jesus. Stahp. XD

As a metal player, I use neck wiggle and i'm far less subtle. A guitar neck is stiffer than a pickaxe handle, so I'm not afraid to break it, and it doesn't affect my tuning stability.

Yeah, a neck is stronger than we think. My concern goes to the neck pocket. Some body woods are way softer than maple. If you apply brute force with the leverage of a neck to that small area.... it might cause a crack...

It’s kinda silly for anyone to dawg you on a useful technique. Just because most people are bad at it doesn’t mean everybody is. It’s a useful vibrato option that gives you pitch bending both up and down (unlike standard vibrato). At high rates, you can create a natural chorusing effect, even on acoustic instruments. For anybody to find it “annoying” is beyond me, why would they even care? Lol. Anyways, great playing dude.

There should be a Guitar Book tutorial on "Neck Wiggle". What is the best "Wiggle" position, "How to do a power wiggle", making the most out of your"Mosh wiggle", which is the best guitar (Strat, or Telecaster, or Les Paul) for making "the Wiggle", which is the best string gauge for "the best wiggle tone". I NEED a in-depth tutorial !! HELP US KRIS !!

I've given this subject some thought over the recent years. And I've come to the conclusion that players use this technique for multiple reasons. Chris Buck has a very unique playing style. That incorporates the slight neck wiggle, in order use the bigger muscles in his arm and hand to achieve the desired vibrato. BB King on the other hand(literally), used mostly just his fingers in a more controlled manner to achieve an entirely different vibrato effect. But I do have to admit, there's players out there wringing their necks incessantly for nothing more than dramatic effects visually. That's annoying as FK, and they should be clubbed like baby harp seals! Get it together people! Nobody wants to see you closing your eyes and making stink faces constantly while playing simple parts! It's only rock n roll and I like it! Don't ruin it for everyone.

@@KrisBarocsi ich hab ihn mal bei einer Veranstaltung danach gefragt. Er erzählte, dass er als Teenager eine schlechte Squier Strat hatte, bei der sich das Trem schon beim Anschauen verstimmte. Und so ist er zum Hals gekommen!

If you listen with eyes closed the effect is almost unnoticeble, at least not at all comparable with a bigsby. Cant watch anything with wiggly biggly, it is like watching someone pretending having Parkinson
