Another great video Millie... im a Tiong Bahru / Redhill boy. No longer live here but still comes back very often for the awesome food and just walkabout. Telling my daughter the stories of me growing up here... these 2 areas are very close to my heart.. there's one landmark and hardly anyone knows.. its the Tiong Bahru Air Raid bomb shelter.. When the Japanese invaded SG and conducted air raids.. my grandma along with other Tiong Bahru Residents took shelter inside...
I really enjoyed this video, Millie. Some of my favourite times in Singapore has been getting lost and looking around.. and like you, people watching. I think my best times here have been when it’s raining and I’m sipping on tea in the outdoor seating area under shelter. It’s beautiful ❤
Thank you. I love to sit and people watch with a drink and snack. Things can be busy or we get occupied with the destination. I like to stop and look around at the people and place too.
Brilliant video thanks so much for doing these, they are all so helpful! Very much looking forward to moving there in December, so will absolutely sure to try your recommendations!
Thanks, Millie 😊 Another great vlog. Wandering aimlessly was highly recommended by the Singapore Tourism Board a few years back. They had a campaign in Australia called "Get Lost" with a bunch of random Singaporean faces and voices telling audiences to "get lost...!...in Singapore." 🤦🤣 It was confronting and a tad confusing but most Australians understood the humour by the end of the ad. So yes, "getting lost" and wandering aimlessly is probably the best way to discover Singapore and how I plan to do it too hahaha 😂
Haha I like that idea. I manage to get lost quite often so just wandering about becomes the norm 😂 we’ve discovered quite a lot of things just by wondering about on holidays before.
Wow!! I love your tour of Tiong Bahru! It’s unique in Singapore and has their own village feel about it. And def the food market with the wide varieties of local Singaporean hawker fare!! Thx for sharing ❤❤
In 1985 on my wife's 2nd visit (it took me 7 years to get her to come with me on a business trip to Singapore) she actually planned a day out in and around Tiong Bahru due to the singing birds, when we got off the bus, it was a fantastic sight and sound show, the elderly men were so proud of each bird and the songs they would sing ( we are the elderly now), see you again in your next video Philltheflyer ( and Peg)
Guys. Just saw a fancy yacht moored up on keppel Island.. Was a bit dark so couldn't see if it was wonderlust or wanderlust but either way u guys shud get a foto! Maybe they will invite u on board😁
Tiong Bahru..does Tiong comes from a Malay word? Burong Tiong is a name of a bird🤔another amazing video Millie. Thnk u so much..really enjoy looking at the post war apt there👍
@@WONDERLUSTworld There isnt many stalls open when I was there. I bought from a Hainanese curry rice stall. He left mainly leftovers. Cabbage, bittergourd and a curry chicken wing, one small potato, rice, 3.50 sgd
Why eating under the hot sun? Just in case you don’t know, you can sit anywhere in the hawker centre as long as the seat is not occupied, sharing table with others.
