There are so many little details I love: The half-open eyes kinda give the illusion of having cat eyes at a glance, he uses Sephiroth's opening stance, and the wind blowing flattens out his spikes throughout the scene and makes his hair look more flowing. And when he impales a trooper at 1:11, he does it with his LEFT hand, not his right, and his feet are positioned close together in a stance similar to Sephiroth's.
“That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron.” That was definitely a Guts moment out of Cloud.
only problem is that cloud's sword feels like a cardboard cutout and it has those classic korean mmorpg physics where they are massive but move like they're a kitchen knife it doesn't have the weight and the power of the dragonslayer, and even guts had to struggle to swing with that thing
Reminds me of the scene at the start where the Mayor of Nibelheim and his crew has Sephiroth at gunpoint, and they just let him slow walk over and stab them one by one without firing a single shot.

Lorewise Zack says he uses the buster sword on its blunt side most of the time, lorewise Cloud may use the blunt side when he just wants to knock out people but in gameplay I think it would be too much work to make extra animations for blunt side usage
He is killing them. The difference here, is that he is killing them without mercy due to Sephiroth having control over him. He usually kills to protect
When Clouds personality changes he also changes his weapon stance.. that is really cool. Considering he uses Zacks mannerisms sometimes but in Combat always Zacks style we really need to pay attention to such things in part 3.
He actually does the Sephiroth stance quite a lot. That opening move he always does when using Limit Breaks. And he takes a similar stance when guarding in Punisher Mode. Which makes sense. Sephiroth was his hero after all.
Its not strictly a Sephiroth stance. Cloud does take that stance, though not very often. For example n his fight against Sephiroth in Remake ending, Cloud takes the same stance when Sephy is tossing his blade beams(?) at him.
Not just the stance and movements, but even demeanor. Cloud usually grunts with his swings due to the weight of his sword. Sephiroth is usually quite when he battles
Cloud's fighting style and demeanor very clearly being a copy Sephiroth's is such a nice touch. They're not even hiding the fact that Sephiroth is basically wearing Cloud like skinsuit and turning him into a monster that's completely on autopilot.
it IS 😥 that makes me so worried for Part 3. At this rate they're gonna make a Puppet Cloud boss fight in the next game and that's gonna be more painfull than fighting Anti-Aqua and Terranort in KH

People saying 'but we've killed so many people already' are missing the point - he kills to protect his friends and himself, here he's enjoying it under Sephiroth's influence. Edit - in Remake when they're in the Shinra building a trooper was cowering when Cloud was riding the motorbike through the window, he could've killed him but he didn't - him basically being possessed here turned him into a cold hearted murderer which Tifa called him on.
He's not just under Sephiroth's influence. Sephiroth's is literally controlling his body, it's not cloud in this clip, it's sephiroth. Clouds don't even have any memories of what just happened.
@dannyd4339 again missing the point, they served a purpose and especially with the reactor bombings ofcourse they knew they put people in danger but they weren't out to kill people for sport. This is what Cloud's doing here as he's being mind controlled by Sephiroth.

The coolest scene ? Or rather the most terrifying yeah 😵 Every scene where you see how deep Sephiroth's control/influence over Cloud runs gives me gosebumps
I had the buster sword equipped for this scene as well and I’m not really sure why but it felt as if it amplified it as a result. Maybe because this weapon holds so much value in the story, it was the sword that Cloud used to kill Sephiroth the first time and it belonged to Zack which Cloud adopted his identity from and as a result giving in to Sephiroth’s control and using this weapon that embodies the legacy of righteousness to mercilessly cut down these standard shinra troops betrays Zack and Cloud himself showing that he really is losing himself. At least that’s what I felt watching it
Good to know that last guy was the only one who came packing his ketchup packet, would've ruined Clouds moment if he didn't get that one splurt of blood on his face after chopping down a squadron of goons.

Missed the point. It's not about killing them, it's about him enjoying the killing - shown especially when he went the extra step for the last 2 guys. You might remember in Remake and also earlier in Junon he tried to not kill if possible.

I’d just assumed it’s like the Batman/Yakuza rule of nothing you fight dies unless it’s in a cutscene or explicitly stated. Either way though the things that’s agreeably wrong is how overkill Cloud went. He Advent Children lifted that one Shinra troop then the other that was barely crawling away he murdered in cold blood
This was as great as the Darth Vader hallways scene from Rogue One. And he slaughters them for around 35-40 seconds, exactly how long it was in Rogue One but in 2 parts. The first one takes from 0:25 to 0:45 and the second from 1:00 to 1:15 or 1:20 . And just like Darth Vader there is at least 2 people inside Cloud.. Like Cloud, Zack and Sephiroth as in Anakin, Vader and Palpatine.. and Sephiroth is kinda is Palpatine. Crazy I never realized this before.
Honestly this Cloud would be a lot more efficient though. Imagine if his friends didn't stop him from killing the threats that they consistently spare only to be harassed by three more times. Imagine how much easier and simpler their journey would have been if they'd just killed Hojo instead of letting him walk away, or the Turks instead of letting them walk away three or four times. They really don't do themselves any favours with their mercy.
This shit was peak fantasy. You have shinra and scarlet. Tifa swinging around. Whispers. A weapon. Cloud coming to save the day, and then the iconic villain just showing up to fuck everything up for everyone. Followed by a lifestream sequence. This was the single greatest change/addition to the story that this trilogy has done. The Aerith dream date is also up there, but obviously for very different reasons.
Now imagine, that grunt who got impaled on the sword could technically be someone like a 16 y. o. baby Cloud. It makes it even more disturbing if you think of it
"That's enough!", Lady we've been slaughtering Shinra goons by the truckloads for one and a half games at this point what are you talking about. I guess murdering in self defense evil-y is worse than good-ily. Should've had the guys running or something to show Cloud's going overboard. I mean the dude on the ground is reaching for a gun, he's still a threat, have him cowering in fear or something.
I personally like to think that this is Cloud at his full potential, not being held back by any morals or ethics, just simple mindedly killing his enemies. Though he was still influenced by Sephiroth of course.
They can't show to much blood, unless it's relevant to the story. It's pg13 or something like that. They changed blood for purple glowing goo at the end of remake in Shinra tower
First class Soldier are powerful enough to change the course of war...if only Tifa and Aerith din't hold Cloud back...the plate wont have drop and Jessie wont have to die including hundreds more innocent soul.

It’s not about them dying . It’s the way he’s going about it. nobody on the crew enjoys killing them and tifa laments about it a lot in part 1 but her cloud is very clearly enjoying it.

It's because it's out of charcater for cloud, he doesn't enjoy killing, he doesn't necessarily hate it, but he wouldn't go out of his way to do it. Here, he kills a wounded, crawling troop, which he would have never done before, as shown in the Remake in Shinra Tower. It's overkill, and unnecessary, plus the smile on his face of enjoyment is something he would never show in response to killing. It demonstrates Sephiroths influence on Cloud, the possession and control he has over him. Shown through the use of left hand and stances.
@@bladerj Barret talks big, but never enjoyed killing. He didn't go around killing everyone in the tower. Both in Remake AND OG. And I believe that's a major character trait that was continuously implied in story. This was strongly emphasized in his character arc in Gold Saucer. So the point is, none of the party enjoys killing, and has been doing so mostly in self-defence. Here the point is that "Cloud" is enjoying the killing

Because the Real problem is that in that scene, Sephiroth is making Cloud enjoy killing, which isn't in character with Cloud who was never that starved for blood before
Well it's problem in the remake, In the original the team was killing people left and right, you even killed Rufus's dog While in the remake they don't want to kill people even like President Shinra and all that, so they don't kill people, I believe they just beat them really hard. So it's a difference in story, killing in fma would be seen as bad while killing in Naruto would seen as Fine.
Is it sword or a fricking bonk stick? The guy is literally slicing poor soldiers into a salad but no blood and no dismemberment. Why make the scene that will look so unreal and sterilized that it will be the very opposite of thrill and rather urge to faceplam from cringe?
