An officer’s final radio call at retirement is probably one of the most emotional moments after a long career. He was a well liked and respected school resource officer by the send off he received.
This is the kind of cop we need more of. The fact that the school kids were running back and forth to say bye to this man, that should speak volumes about the type of character he is. Kids are good at sniffin out bs, and this man appears to be quite clean. Hats off to the both of you
@@adansmith5299 ohhhhh so what you’re saying is the experience is subjective to the individual person, which means sitting here saying those kids don’t know anything, is pure conjecture. Right? :)
@@voidrendx6601 Saying anyone does/doesn't know anything based purely on a short youtube clip is the definition of conjecture. You've built an argument on a foundation of it.
Absolutely LOVE THIS ! My dad, who passed away, was a Chicago police officer/detective in the 1960/70s and would have loved watching this. Thank you for your service officer. What a beautiful experience. Thanks for taking us along to watch.
by the reactions of the kids saying goodbye to this officer, you know he is one of the good ones and really does deserve this. congrats and happy retirement!
We actually lost my old high school officer to a car crash and Dep definitely would’ve deserved this send off. One of the best cops I’ve ever met and he was known for making sure everyone was ok and not being a hard ass, especially since we were a very low income school. I wish he would’ve got to do something like this because I know even some alumni would have shown up to see him off. Rip Dep Bobby Howard, we didn’t forget how you treated us with compassion unlike so many others
An upstanding man. A young one who was clearly not in a good headspace tried to take his gun, likely with the intent to hurt the officer and many around him. Yet the officer still showed compassion and restraint in a tense and highly dangerous situation. Good man.
@@jimmyjohansson5672 there are old pilots and bold pilots but no bold old pilots.. In other words if you take risks of any kind it can bite you in ass when u least expect it.. Flying looks so simple but there are so many things you have to concentrate on... This young pilot is doing everything by the book, not showing off, no risk taking.. So yes it is that hard, and helicopter pilots are amongst the best..

I am also a retired cop of over 35 years of service... this was way cool brother.. wish I could have had a send off like this.... something you will never forget...
with such horrible things going on in this world all while suffering from horrific combat ptsd, I really needed to see this. What you did and the officer you did it for renews my faith in humanity.
I like how you informed your passenger of every intent prior to executing it. It just shows that you're a very well versed pilot. You know that they're not familiar with the situation and you're letting them know ahead of time just to ease any sort of worrisome thought before it even appears. That's professional right there
Even at the end, I'm just speculating, but it seemed like he changed his mind last second and pointed his nose towards the direction he was going to depart from so there was virtually no chance he would be in danger of the tail rotor. Really detail oriented pilot
that warms my heart to see the whole community rallying for the officer on his last day. What a send off. I’m also shocked at how young the officer still looks.
@@davidbroadfoot1864 I went to middle-school and high-school outside the U.S. not only did the schools have one officer, they had several officers at every gate - even though civilian gun ownership was absolutely prohibited in that country. Its not a "deficiency" ... When you have a bunch of "sitting ducks"; be it in a school, a mall, a hospital or whatever. If you're going to prohibit the adults working there from lawful self-defense, the least you can do is provide them with armed officers for their protection.
Even watching this video brought so many smiles. From protecting and serving to getting an opportunity of a lifetime to enjoy himself. Everyone in this video is a hero and appreciated for all they've done. Thanks for uploading this, and God Bless.
That moment when you said, want to get your camera? You know it was all about this officer retiring and his send off. Greatly respect your attention to detail like that. Very professional and respectful to everyone. What a great send off!
I was almost teary at the final call. I had a cousin who served as a dispatcher in Idaho, and they did final call at the graveside. It was a terrible day for rain, with beautiful blue sky’s and bright sun. She had enough time to plan everything, and had confetti poppers for everyone to send us off with a last hooray. Thank you to all of our service men and women, for doing your work so that the rest of us can rest at ease, knowing that *you are there*!
Wow, what a cool last day "on the job." I wasn't expecting to get teary hearing the "10-42" call out, but as a 19 year military veteran, I have huge respect for his service and the emotion of the final radio call. Thank you for taking time to do this for the police officer and putting the video together of his last day's ride.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I kept thinking...."Why am I so emotional right now?" Eventually it kind of hit me. There's something special about that final radio call when they retire from service. But more than that, I had a good friend who was a firefighter who suddenly died of a brain aneurysm, and during his funeral they did a final radio call for his number, and it was the most emotional part of the funeral for me. (And most others.) I can't think about that part of the funeral without getting emotional. So when they did this final radio call in the video, I believe subconsciously that emotion came back up quickly. I'm just glad this one was under much happier circumstances.
What a positive video. There is so much negativity going on and police officers are all thrown together into one pot as imbecile, power-obsessed oppressors. Here is an officer that clearly earned the respect of the kids, teachers and his fellow officers and it was a dignified, warm sendoff. Good on you!
YOU are part of the problem, and YOU don't want to fix it. You sponsor the "power-obsessed oppressors"... by turning a blind eye and attempt to shame people for talking about it. Yep, going to be that guy. Absolutely throw any and all vitriol at me. I know how you justify your "good guy" crimes, murder, and vengeance. YOU are part of the problem.

Congratulations on your Retirement Officer Inserra. You spent many years as a LEO & SRO Serving & Protecting your community. Thank you for your service. Thank you Matty for your Honor Flight for this officer. I'm sure it will be one he will remember.
Just found this channel, very happy it showed up in my recommended feed. Great video, great piloting, in particular how you kept your passenger updated on what you were doing. Great officer, I hope some of the kids he's mentored over his years see that being a cop is still a great option, and become officers themselves. Or pilots.
Brother, I have been a deputy for 19 years here in Florida and seeing you do this is awesome! Thanks for supporting us (LEO) and doing something amazing for that retired officer!
Just seeing how much support he got from the staff and students at the school tells me he was a great SRO. Thank you for your years serving the community. And thank you Matt for helping give him a great memory to close out his career.
Unless they got out early for it :p. No kid is gonna sit as his desk when he could go be outside, no matter the event. But I suspect he likely was. And it was a very nice guestre all the same. Edit: gesture*
What a bang up send off for this Officer. His story about the trash can was really smart thinking. The helicopter pilot was awesome. Happy Retirement Officer!💙
It makes me so emotional to hear their final send off, they risk their lives everyday and never know what they'll face or if they'll make it home to their loved ones. To know they made it out safely and made it home from that final shift. Thank you LEO'S and families!
Reminds me vaguely of my own high school officer. He is the kindest, more compassionate guy you’ll meet. He had his last day on the job, and on the way to the station to retire his gear, an emergency call of an active shooter that was able to steal a police car from a downed officer downtown was called in. He decided to pick up the call, when he did not have to. He assisted chasing down the shooter, and helped take him down. He was shot multiple times, including once in the face. Luckily, he made a full recovery, and was marched through the school being praised by everyone, and the school districts and town made huge donations to him and the families of all injured and killed officers and their families.
@@JordanMcKee I think video based media will be better about getting good summaries, as I looked up articles and they are pretty vague. But the incident was on March 8th, 2022, in Joplin Missouri. My high school officer is Rick Hirshey, who was injured but made a recovery, and the other two officers on the scene passed away. They had their memorial service at Missouri Southern State University. I believe that is enough information to find all that you are looking for 🙂
The most touching thing about this is, the involvement of all those students. Clearly they all know him, and feel a connection with him. This is a man who was more than just “the cop at the school”. He was part of its community. I hope his replacement will live up to his example.
Mattylp, you are definitely an asset to your community! Thank you for your help in making this officer’s final day as he retires! It’s a day he’ll never forget.

That was an amazing sendoff. You could tell how loved and appreciated that officer was. Thank you for taking the time and resources to give him a sendoff he and that class will never forgot. Side note… excellent job explaining the phases of flight and explaining the noises etc. you’re an excellent pilot 👍
Thank you officer Inserra for providing a safe high school at FHC, you will be missed after all those years of letting the kids out of the school, being in the hoco parade etc. It was a pleasure to have you for so many years as our SRO. Hope you have a good retirement. :)
Just the way the kids gave this law enforcement officer such a loving send off was amazing to watch. And kudos to the pilot of the helicopter for doing such a great job. We need more of this kind of love in our dying country 😢.
Great Piloting. From one pilot to another. I like the way you explain your intentions and actions to your passenger aswell as asking him if he's Ok. My late Father was a flying Orthpeadic Surgeon and he used to say" How do you know if a pilot is a good or bad pilot? If someone has never flown and gets on the ground and says I will never fly again that is a bad pilot and the opposite is true for a good pilot" Job well done🛩
From an interested non-pilot to the two pilots: I have to agree: The way everything was explained, especially during the last landing: Excellent. Did enjoy the clip!
"If someone who has never been on the ground before falls off the ground, and says they will forevermore stick to having their own two feet on the ground - then that is the sign of a good pilot." Did I invert it correctly?
Im a retired TX LEO and I just want to say that it was a beautiful gesture on your part to do that for the officer. God bless you sir. Welcome to retirement Officer Inserra!
Office Don't know where yall from and all that I just want to say thank you for keepin your town and others safe. To the man flying great work sir your doin the right things. This is what a community looks like.
As a retired soldier from the 101st Airborne, I've worked with some amazing chopper pilots. I have some memories that nobody else in the world will ever have as a soldier. (yeah, we might have done some sketchy stuff that was way out the rules) This is awesome! Good job sir, and happy retirement for the officer!
SROs lead to high expulsion rates and often refer "problem students" to the criminal justice system before they even are out of high school, leaving a scar on their records and hurting their opporuntinities. It's too bad he's getting replaced.
It's called good community policing. Instead of trying to help only after something happens, they try to fix the problems before they happen. They live and work within their community and that has a big impact on the community itself as they care, instead of officers who live outside of the community, that don't care to much about the community they protect because it's not their community.

This was an awesome send off for this retiring LEO. Great job! Do you not worry you’re going to lose items out of the no-doors spaces?! I had my phone bracket with suction pad fall off my dash once, so I’d imagine you’d be miffed if your nav pad fell out! The officer’s radio was a close one, too! 😂 Also, when you first approached the school there were doors on there! I could see light through a gap above each door… unless that transparent panels are so transparent it looks as if there aren’t any on… but, the officer’s shirt was blowing around in the breeze… 🤔
@@mattylp8 I noticed the same thing and was wondering where you stored the doors for the flight. Is there a spot on the exterior of the helicopter to fasten them?
@@Strahan740i That was one of my first thoughts too, but then he's got to sit there waiting for the cop car to show up at the landing site since it would take a lot longer to drive there than to fly. If that were the case I'd have probably just left them off for the whole trip and worn a sweater if needed and simplify the logistics. (and it's not out of the realm of possibility that there could be external stowage for them)
@@the_omg3242 yep. Notice though that there was a cut in the video between landing and taking off, so that's probably what the cut was for... To remove the bit where nothing happens as he waited for the doors to arrive. That'd be my guess.

Sidenote, Matt, I hope you know that a response time for you if there is ever a need for the police will be much faster now lol. The police department will always be in debt to you!
Awesome! Great job! A word of advice, and something I saw EVERY day as a CFI...don't favor a perfect headwind at the loss of available landing areas- ESPECIALLY in a low-inertia rotor system like the R22. You flew over the trees on your approach to the school, an action which I imagine is because we are trained "always perfectly into the wind". If you would've taken a path over the football and softball fields, for example, on approach you would've had perfect, flat areas to land in case of emergency/engine failure. Instead, you chose over the trees (and NOT the fluffy kind) presumably because it was "into the wind". I'll take a slight crosswind any day if it keeps me over good forced landing areas! Just some words of advice from years landing in remote areas as a HEMS Pilot. Fly safe!
Was not expecting to kinda get emotional when he said his last send off. Congrats to the officer for serving his town and those children I know you probably impacted a lot of kids in some bad times and I thank you for that because I remember our officer at my high school back in 2006 and man he was like a 2nd dad to me.
