To be fair, there was three months between the release of Naxx and the announcement of TBC.

TBC was announced in late 2005 where Naxx released mid 2006. TBC came put at beginning of 2007

If you want to go to the Scarlet Monsatery with it, remember to land in Light's Hope Chapel, not Chillwind Camp.

Are you sure about the whole party thing? Yogscasts How To: Ashbringer they take one through the event during TBC and they appear neutral to Lewis, who doesn't have it equipped

In vanilla this did blow my mind as I had just gotten it right before Halloween and then went in and this happened. My mates were wondering why I was not attacking lol

It was after the announcement of tBC. This is the reason only so few players played Naxx40, because tBC was already announced by that time, and a significant part of the players took a break from raiding because they thought they can get better items in the expansion anyway. Of course that time a different attitude was resident in the community.

Ashbringer is my favourite wepon in this game, if I get the Corrupted Ashbringer in Classic I would be more then very happy!

You missed some important things. If you're in the party with the wielder you wont get attacked. Also your rep goes to Hated with Argent Dawn when you have it equipped. Dont forget the whispers of the Ashbringer. Very cool effect that you can hear while you use it. And also. When Naxx became raidable BC/Outland was only months away from being open. So...theres that.
