You can certainly manage without a car in cities here in the South, Totally different situation to the Interior nordestino! In the South you need to use heating some days during the winter, so needs to be calculated in electricity costs, The air conditioners in the South in some cases also supply hot air, but small fan and oil heaters are also available, They are generally relatively expensive to run.

@Thcgk

this sounds like not really alot to be honest, isn't São Paulo like the most expensive city to live in Brazil together with Rio de janeiro? At least that's what I heard
@rogerreizk8640
@rogerreizk8640 2 месяца назад
@@Thcgk I don't know if other Cities are more or less expensive.. but we were a family of 6, living in a relatively small house (around 65 qm) in Vila Prudente. The rent was 1600 reais, and our monthly expenses were no more than 5-6000 reais.. That was in 2014-2015, so things now are definitely different, but 6000 a month is sure more than enough for just 2 people
@thebrazilianexpat4041
@thebrazilianexpat4041 Месяц назад
Thanks for your feedback. Sure, you can live comfortably with 6000 reais a month anywhere in Brazil I guess, but everything is relative. If you want the nice car, the bigger house, go out to eat 2 times a week, go on vacation etc etc… I think 6000 reais would be the very minimum.

Car prices?
@gdc4736
@gdc4736 8 месяцев назад
Insanely expensive. I recommend you search on Google, car models that you recognize and it's price in Brazilian currency (real), then convert to your countrie's currency. But there is more, you have anual taxes, the worst of them is IPVA. You have to pay around 3% the market value of your car. So if it costs 100k, you pay 3k year.

@DawepMe
@DawepMe 8 месяцев назад
Locals are struggling with current prices in Brazil. From the perspective of someone who earns money from a higher income country, prices do seem to be affordable and 'cheap' here. However, the economy of an area is highly subjective. So people who earn 1300 real can't even pay a nice rent in a major city here. Or afford to eat out, go to the cinema, etc. Inflation has been massive here and if you earn minimum wage here, you are in trouble.

@@thebrazilianexpat4041 well, my brazilian ex broke up with me. I studied Portuguese for 6 months after to help cope. After that my family introduced me to another girl in Vietnam, since I'm vietnamese-american. Now I'm focused on my studying vietnamese and learning more about vietnamese culture, which is quite cool itself. I completely broke off all ties to brazil, stopped studying PT, my opinions soured towards the parts of brazilian and south american culture that I don't like and which I turned a blinded eye in the past before. it's a cool country and all, but for a gringo, unless you have family or a spouse or a business/work, it's not worth investing the time and energy into brazil.
