I wish this guy read the instructions. Please do not do what he did in the video with the surround to access the fasteners below. Use two finger method which IS DETAILED in JL Audio's INSTRUCTION BOOKLET for W7 line! SMH at this video there are ALLOT of DO's and DO NOT's!
Ive had tons of subs and the best SQ and getting low while still being accurate and not muddy is thr 13W7.. I listen to mostly rock and its the closest ive ever hesrd to a natural Kick drum
I sent a 12w7 back due to cone damage, I think I got a complete swap out instead of a recone service. Only because the cone, and the basket/frame came back with AE labels. My original didn't have AE labels..
@@sidewayzmike ya 10 years ago....$400 used.. sound about accurate...all right maniac mike...for your confession...i will cough up a cat furball and confess to you , its a good woofer..... (for you to sell on ebay)..then do the upgrade with the cash!!....fuck yeah!!!!! and get some weed and stop off at the strip club with all the change left over from your new different woofers..
i have my 13w7 wired parallel to a memphis prxa1500.1 amp in a ported box 2.5 cubes tuned around 30-31hz. the amp doesnt go on protect and the sucker hits hard
I'm in the process of building my All JL Audio components build. I already have the C7 6.5'' midrange but getting the tweeters and 3'" has been a challenge. While I wait on back orders for those, which sub seems to compliment that setup the most? I'm going for SQL in my BRZ so you have an idea how much space I'm working with. Would the 13'' be too much? I was considering the 10'' but could go 8'' if that works best. I just need some advice on which would pair the best without mudding the vocals because I listen to all types of music. And without a demo available, I can't really get a feel in my head what I'm working with or what to expect. Any help is appreciated. Ty
This is obviously a really late response but don't get a W7 if your going for sound quality. If you need something really loud that'll compliment your full range go with a W6 or a W3. You can get really low freq. with either of those if you don't mind giving up the space for the bass:) and are much more musical. the W7 is great for reliable big bass but isn't very musical.
I have a set of 12Tw3's in my truck and they sound as good as a full size sub and require less than 1cuft of space per sub. You will NOT be unhappy with the TW3's. They kick ass. And by the sounds of it you are limited in space.
Sundown and DC audio DD etc are around $200 to $250 for recone kits and u have to rebuild or pay to get it done.. similar cost to JL but JL audio’s techs rebuild it to spec included in the cost!
I still have 2 of them but the rubber foam was shredded because it sat too long but the speaker still works and I ordered on eBay the foam repair kit but not sure on how to do it if you could help me out with a video or instructions on how to do it just the rubber foam around the speakers my whole sound system is Jl audio except the the deck but would appreciate any help thank you
I have listened to it in it’s recommended sealed enclosed and it sounded real nice to my ears but not $1,500 worth. The Boston Acoustics Spg-555 in it’s recommended sealed enclosure with it’s tunable radiator sounded way better and for 1/2 the price. Same car and same Boston GT 2300 amp.
i had a 10w7 on a ppi pc-2150 bridged mono. it was ok, it hit hard, sealed actually sounded better than ported but sq wise, could not come close to 3x10w3d6-v1 sealed. w7s are over hyped
in summary, make this short: buy DC, sundown, skar, deaf bonce, b2, Memphis, reaudio, Rockford fosgate, DD or any other subwoofer for the cost of a REPAIR of a JL...ok, got it
Jr Garcia and also I have a buddy that used to work at a audio store and he told me u can put them in sealed boxes but they sound best in a ported is this true?
@@jadenm4198 yea bro it's alot louder with a ported box but it will sound nice in a sealed box, but I prefer ported forsure and yea it rings my ears pretty good lol I cant even have volume half ways with my girl in the car ..I got a infinite g37 sedan ,I'm actually gonna have a box made for two with the port coming out from middle of back seats armrest area but that's later on few months away.this week I'm getting the U.s. alternator installed and big3.
@@timothypruitt4505 nice. I got an old school t500. Wanted the 2500 but don't got electrical for it or space. The best I got is the Slash1200v3 but only does about 1600. Check my Chan. I got 2 mtx9500s that need to be bumped.
@@FATMIKED5183 That's what they cost in 2007. That was well over 10 years ago. A few months ago, there was zero listings on eBay for even an 8W7. Prior to March 2020, there was a TON of them.
@@thebestmotoroil101 Have you ever heard of the Adire audio Brahma subwoofer? It's been mopping the floor with W7s since 2002,and back then the Brahma was less than $400.Adire went under, but came back fairly recently, and their Brahma is still about the same price.
@@thebestmotoroil101 I just bought a sub from a brick and mortar store for the first time recently. It was a bit of a drive to get to that shop that is the closest DD dealer. I don't trust the local shops at all.I trust random dudes selling audio off the books out of their house over most shops.
Shipping is not 200-300 dollars and JL up until last year covers the return shipping.. the turnaround is at least a month and that was before COVID and supply shortages … took a 10 min video to explain 2 min of info smh …
Ive built my entire system including the box by myself. 19 years old and in college. On my own budget. Slowly worked my way up from w1’s to w3’s to 1 10w7. Couldn’t be happier with how it sounds I don’t think ill ever own another sub
Motor noise? These subs have insane sound quality for being as loud as they are. Yes sundown x15 would outhit this, power rating definitely isnt crap, I have 2 13.5w7 on a deaf bonce aak4000 at 1.5 ohms, they want more. I shouldve got the aak6000. Shit Id like to have 2 jl 1200/1s or alpine pdx m12s per sub if I had that much money 😂
@@cjon24s69 quality sound is def what they have for sure. Just took out the x15s. On the ampere 3800 And went to the ampere 7500 on 2 15 in ZV5s. And added a limitless cyber 12k lithium
@@shaunstruzyk3456 Thats loudd and one thing I found is the spec w7 box is trash, I have the atrend 13w7 box and its nowhere near as loud as the box I built, mine is 2.6 cubic ft tuned to 36hz and has about 30% more port area than the spec box. For a w7 you will need a good 30%-50% more port area and add some more airspace to really get them moving, there is quite a bit port tubulance in the spec box so more port area helps that alot. Its crazy how much louder my box was than the spec box.
