For some countries you actually need the entire world map because of the colonies. Also the Netherlands for example still today has some Caribbean islands as official part of the Dutch kingdom. Just like how many people forget or don't know that Alaska is a part of the USA for instance.
I’m from Sweden and incredibly interested in history and i have to say that I’m pretty sure Norway was never as big as you drew them on the map and can’t really be called an ”empire”. They had the now swedish provinces of Bohuslän, Jämtland, and Härjedalen which we later conquered from them. It looks like you also gave them parts of Värmland, Dalarna and Västergötland which have always been swedish core provinces. Otherwise, great video :)
hva faen er du po, norway was huge with greenland iceland and parts of america with the nordth of scoltland and svalbard, we had also big parts of sweden and finnalnd and russia
You missed Courland-Livonia. That was Latvia at it’s biggest extent (Estonia and Latvia and the colony of Gambia) The year is around 1492. Still great video!
Oh yeah, Polish - Lithuanian vassal. Sad thing is that Poland never managed to have any colonies, so our only ones were colonies of our vassal Courland - Semigalia: Gambia and Tobago.
@@johnnyjoestar5193 well, if Poland - Lithuania had colonies (and managed to keep them for some time), it would be maybe a much stronger state. Maybe it would avoid partitions and ever fall apart. Maybe it would be among strongest states in the world and Europe - France, UK, Russia and else were much stronger because of having colonies. Who knows how the history would have gone. Today, Poles, Lithuanians, Ruthenians and other PLC nations while travelling abroad would speak their language with people from different part of the world, just like Brits, Dutch, French, Spaniards, etc do. Polish - Lithuanian Commonwealth would maybe be alive today and it would be among the strongest economic powers in the world, not like today (where Poland is still far from Germany and UK). I know, not having colonies means that there is no nation who hates you because your ancestors killed and enslaved his etc. But then, who said it wouldn't be like with UK, with who Canada and Australia have rather good relations? I'm not someone who says colonialism is wonderful thing. It isn't. But if you do it right, it won't be bad either.

I just wanted to note out that you made a few mistakes in the video, for example Latvia used to be a bit larger. It's Pytalova that's owned by Russia nowadays
Yeah yeah the whole point of the video like this is to show information and actually help people learn something, take the video down and then reupload it and fix your shit
Romania shouldn't be represented as Dacia , you should have searched for the 1918 Romania that included Republic Moldavia and other counties(BTW if WW2 wouldn't happen Romania would still be bigger nowadays)

A few mistakes: 1: When you showed the UK at its largest extent, you forgot to show their colonies that were visible on the map (Iraq, Jordan, Cyprus, and Malta) 2: Why did you show Czechoslovakia for Slovakia? The capital of Czechoslovakia was Prague, which is hundreds of kilometers away from Slovakia. 3: Wasn’t the Iberian Union created by Spain?
What about the European Colonies that these past empires fully owned? Belgium, Britain, France, Holland, Portugal or Spain (possibly the Kingdom of Italy, but of course no one want's to see that.)? These should not have to particularly be in Europe,.. I would not think. And of course, my point of the argument, i'm pretty sure that these empires were larger than a few of the ones listed in the video.
A "few" inaccuracies ? A "few" ? This video basically starts with an inaccuracy - Austrian Empire wasn't at it's largest in 1801 because: A) it didn't even exist before 1804 B) it owned all the provinces shown in the video and additionally parts of Northern Italy (Lombardy and Venezia regions) in the 1815-1859 period. And the vidoe doesn't get much better later. To several omissions add the silly mixing of very short term war occupations with actual ownership. Short term war occupation that somehow count for Germany during WW2 but not for others ? How is that consistent or logical ? And end it all with the really silly pairing of modern Italy with Roman Empire. This video is ridiculously bad as far as historical education goes. Or silly if you look at it as a joke).
You'reThatMantis The British ended up kicking the Romans out, the Romans then went and conquered elsewhere. The video was European countries at their largest, the Roman Empire was bigger without Britain than it was with Britain. Aka the Roman Empire did not have Britain when it was at its biggest.
Man, I was still tricked. The author supported an incorrect date for Austrian Empire's greatest extent, and the same empire owned Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Northern Italy regions. There is a bit more that Wasyl Wasylson pointed out. The author of this video definitely did not recognize any of these facts. COME ON!?
Anywhere But Here! Lol? That's a huge lie. The Roman Empire abandoned Britannia in the 4th century because it couldn't garrison it AND the border at the same time, not because they resisted in anyway. And in 117 Britannia was as Roman as Rome itself xD

I mean not totally accurate but still enjoyable to watch:) A few mistakes I found: -Greek at their largest was the Macedonian empire, not eastern Roman. -The French empire in 1920 (after ww1) was bigger than napoleons empire that you showed. -Latvia and Estonia used to be slightly bigger before they got annexed by the USSR -You counted occcupied German territories as their territorial height but if that’s the case, Finland should be bigger at their height as they briefly captured parts of Russia during ww2 before being pushed back. -The Iberian union was Spanish dominated, not Portuguese -Belgium used to own Luxembourg for some time/personal union so in other words: they used to be bigger than they are today. Denmark at their biggest should technically be the Kalmar union as they were the dominant power in that union Still good video tho :D

Since you also count unions, Denmark was much bigger when the Kalmar Union was still around. Like, you know, all of Scandinavia. 8. When showing Germany, Denmark isn't shown as occupied territory, and Slovakia isn't shown as a puppet Also, Crimea isn't shown as occupied during ww2 9. As for Moldova , their biggest size was when they proclaimed the "United Provinces of Wallachia and Moldavia, something close to the Crimean War, I can't remember the year 10. 2:58 Truly Italy, during the Roman Empire, came to occupy a slightly larger territory at its highest level of expansion: add to the map all Great Britain except Hibernia (Ireland) and Caledonia (Scotland), and to the east it expanded across the Ponto Eusino (Black Sea) coast, completely occupying the Crimea, and then even Georgia, until it touches the shores of the Caspian Sea. Veramente l'Italia, durante l'Impero Romano, arrivò ad occupare un territorio leggermente più ampio al suo massimo livello d'espansione: aggiungete alla mappa tutta la Gran Bretagna esclusa l'Hibernia (Irlanda) e la Caledonia (Scozia), e ad est si espandeva su tutta la costa del Ponto Eusino (Mar Nero), occupando completamente la Crimea, e poi anche la Georgia, fino a toccare le coste del Mar Caspio.
Despite these details the date is right, in fact the Empire reached its maximum expansion in 117 AD, thanks to the conquests of the Emperor Trajan.
