@@Quickshot0 That's not quite true. Nagorno-Karabakh proper still exists and is still independant, but Azerbaijan has taken control of several neighbouring regions and displaced the Armenians who lived there. The country is still alive, but only barely : it's surrounded by hostile forces on almost every side, with only a single road connecting it with Armenia, and a Russian peacekeeping force is all that stands between them and annihilation. Their survival is now completely dependant on Russia's whims.
@Quickshot0

@@loxodoncyclotis1823 I see, after reading a little further on that it does indeed seem to be another standard Russian solution. Freeze the conflict while making one of the actors dependent on Russia. Though in reality both sides now have more Russian issues to deal with.

I’m not Armenian but I’m also not sure that everyone appreciates how courageous & kind it is each time an ethnic Turk acknowledges what was done to the Armenians. Please allow me to respectfully ask a question. Although the massacres Armenians during WW1 were carried out by the Ottoman Empire & not the Turkish govt why does Turkey’s govt take such drastic action any time that another nation or the UN attempts to label it genocide that occurred 100 years ago? Is that because the Turks are offended that someone is possibly accusing their ancestors of genocide? Or is it to prevent a situation where Armenians are compensated or given land to return? Or is there another reason? Again, I ask this respectfully out of curiosity & understand if you don’t answer. Also, since the US committed genocide against the American Indians I’m not casting dispersions on any person or group & I even understand why some at the time saw Armenians as enemies of the State.

Armenians have been at war ever since the beginning of time the red in our flag is meant for blood. Aryan gnov pahel en mer hoxera. (By the price of blood they’ve kept those lands) is the translation to what I wrote in Armenian. @@zainulzainul1880 : That's because Armenia has been attacked from all directions all the time by much larger nations. Initially, it was the Roman empire. Armenia was a vassal state which means it was partially independent and had its own army. The Roman empire fell and the Byzantine empire took over. That was eliminated by the turks. Iran and turks were fighting each other. I don't know the details. At some point, Russia joined in and Armenia was split between Russia (Eastern Armenia) and Turkey (Ottoman Empire) (Western Armenia). Armenians/Assyrians/Greeks were killed off starting in 1890 up to a large scale killings of 1915. So, at that point, the christian population fell to almost nothing and Turkey does not want to recognize what it did and does not want to return Western Armenia to present day Armenia. By being prostitutes as you call it, there is an Armenia today while Assyria does not exist, which was one of the most powerful empires 3000 y ago. They also attacked Armenia multiple times. Kurds? There are maybe 20 million of them and don't have a nation. There is no cultural material. No letters. No vases or castles or anything. As for Turkey, how much of the ancient stuff there has been built by Armenians? Visit a musuem. According to turks, 0%.

@Longtack55
@Longtack55 6 лет назад
The ANZACs were a tool of England and I doubt that Churchill gave a toss about them except that they were a Christian minority in an Islamic Empire and opposed the Turks. They were entirely civilian and completely lacked weaponry. This is what Hans Humann, the German naval attaché in Constantinople said to US Ambassador Henry Morgenthau: I have lived in Turkey the larger part of my life ... and I know the Armenians. I also know that both Armenians and Turks cannot live together in this country. One of these races has got to go. And I don't blame the Turks for what they are doing to the Armenians. I think that they are entirely justified. The weaker nation must succumb. The Armenians desire to dismember Turkey; they are against the Turks and the Germans in this war, and they therefore have no right to exist here. Does this sound just like the German attitude to Jews? Expendable nuisances of a different religion and culture. And what did the Germans do about it? Nothing. They had their own selfish Empire-building going on. I saw an old photo of a Turk teasing a small group of starving Armenians with a piece of bread. It was heart-breaking and I wish I could "un-see" the vision. At times like that I hate my species. Animals lack the sophistry of hatred we highly-evolved bipeds have developed.

On the other side of the coin, Americas people remain free from military and government take over because of the right to bear arms. From the millions of guns in America, there are 1.2 guns behind every American theoretically. One could argue that the American People aren't free and it is an illusion, and yes that might be true to a certain extent. But you don't see or Government attempting a coup d'état or other counties invading the soil where there is a rifle behind every blade of grass. Our own Government has changed their tactics because of our militias that exist within the people and the overwhelming number of individuals who are willing to stop Tyranny.
@nicholasvsjesse
@nicholasvsjesse 6 лет назад
GoreTorn16 Guns in the hands of citizens have close to 0 to do with America remaining 'free'. You're surrounded by an ocean far from any other military power, with a close ally sharing one border and what is essentially a puppet state sharing the other. Countries like that simply don't get invaded, the cost is too high to ship enough soldiers by sea, you see that with every nation that's geographically isolated from other powerful nations. Then theres your military spending, no other nation is close, it isn't your hunting rifles and magnums that keep away enemies, it's your billion dollar air forces and nukes. The idea that some pissy guns are keeping your government at bay is seriously funny, we've seen how armed internal militias fare against the army from religious nut job groups, and the results are never surprising. The majority of money is in the states with the least guns and the most opposition to guns, only Texas stands out there, how do you really think that'll go in real life?

Cenk has recanted on that. Like it was said in this video, the Turkish have a culture of denial when it comes to the armenian genocides. Cenk is turkish and was raised by people with those views. As a 20 something year old man he shared them and was vocal about the genocide having never happened. He's apologised now, said he was young and ignorant, and has publically adopted a position that facts cannot be argued with and what happened happened. I think the only reason he isn't more vocal than that is that he still has familial ties to traditional turks and you can't both accept the genocide and be accepted by the turkish.

If he still has familial ties that prevent him from changing the name of his god damned show ("the young turks"? really?) Then, he has no business being a public figure, being on television, or otherwise making a living in the news industry. He has to choose, between being accepted by his fellow genocide deniers, or being accepted by the general public at large, the people who view his shows and buy products from companies that advertise with his shows. It's one or the other, he can't have it both ways. There is no reason for any of us to continue to do business with someone afflicted with his disease. People like him ought to die in obscurity, rejected by polite society, we owe them nothing and have nothing to gain from them.

Be sure to hug an Australian some day. The Bogal song, “And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda” really bugs me when the crippled Veteran notes a boy asking about a parade of other Veterans, “‘What are they marching for?’, and I ask myself the same question.” The Anzac tried valiantly to save them, whether they fully understood their mission or not. Not every soldier could, especially back then. Even if he heard about rescuing the Armenians, he never met one, and because of their failure to break the Turkish line, he never would. Just miles away, vast killing fields would have driven home why the Australians were there, but that was nothing more then a rumor, as far as the thwarted soldiers were concerned. The people of this country should reach out to Australia to recognize them. They couldn’t save them before, maybe they can now.

Thousands of New Zealand soldiers died alongside their Australian cousins fighting the Turks also. We (ANZACs) took the high ground in the Dardenelles, but the useless British high command failed to capitalize on this. English people are decent. The British government is a total bastard.
@eldermillennial8330
@eldermillennial8330 6 лет назад
The Rainblossoms Only half the goal was to save Armenians; To be fair, there is some circumstantial evidence that the Czar’s intelligence network had been compromised by either a German or Turkish spy, as the other half was to support the Russians in a pincer to cut off Turkey from German support. Even if they didn’t know precisely when your great grandfathers were going to strike, they shouldn’t have been THAT prepared. This is further exponentially tragic, because Lenin could never have returned from exile had Gallipoli been a success, and Russia would have been radically different place today. Nicolas 1&2 had been phasing out the old feudal system in favor of a British style parliamentary democracy and perhaps constitutional monarchy. Assuming that communism in China could not have arisen without Soviet help, a generous estimate suggests that as as many as a Billion people are missing from the world (if you include all of the Chinese mandated infanticides) because of one wretched spy and several stupid British admirals. “....but, for a nail” Of course, Communism is so appealing on paper to a certain kind of passionate fool, that it was bound to be imposed somewhere eventually, but preferably in several small countries could have had minimum harm as a result.

With all that's going on right now (Russia attacking Ukraine and acting insane, Turkey and its puppet Azerbaijan screwing around with NATO and acting like its on the other side with Russia, Iran's protests, Iraq unapologetically hating us and perhaps for good reason, Syria in disarray), I wish we'd pull some 'strategery' and dump tons of funding into the Caucasus. Arm the Kurds who we let down so they can open up a full offensive on all sides to create Kurdistan from the several countries who either are our enemies or are screwing around with them. Arm the Georgians like the Ukrainians so they can drive the Russians from their lands and open up another front with Russia. Yes, arm the Armenians at home and in Artsakh to counter the victorious Azeris in their war; Biden already opened the wound by recognizing the Armenian Genocide, you might as well not go back. With Turks, there is no going back, they're insane, "you have to recognize the context, there was killing on both sides" (this would be like a Nazi saying there was "killing on both sides" of the Holocaust because Jews sometimes revolted and escaped the death camps). It's pretty undetermined as to who we exactly support, Armenian or Azerbaijan, but at some point we may have to pick a side. Turkey gave its drones to Ukraine, yes, but it's also a little TOO close with Putin and its screwing up NATO politics with its Kurd hate and refusing to let Sweden in. Arming the Caucasus during these times would cause chaos in Russia, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Azerbaijan and certainly make them think twice before messing with the West.

Western education of minors has always been indoctrination first, teaching second. U.S. educational system of mandatory Grade 1-8 education was implemented following the Prussian model in the latter half of the 19th century. The Prussian system was designed to support industrial society: identify and prepare managers for higher educational attainment, prepare the rest how to be good industrial cogs and obedient soldiers. Just like ours today, though the goal of the indoctrination is no longer to create an efficient industrial populace. Read the works of John Taylor Gatto to learn what education was, and what it should become.

The left ruled the country for almost 20 years and they were trying to seize the power completely by corruption. The largest corruption in the world is still held by Brazil, meeting not only latin america countries, but african countries too. The leader of the Workers Party, Lula, was in prision for leading money laundering in the country and his party went on the elections. So, half of the population hated Workers Party and Lula for stealing our money and supporting dictatorships in latin america (like Venezuela) and voted in other people, but in the end, the elections were Bolsonaro against Lula's puppet, Haddad. Everyone agrees that, if the Workers Party stayed out of 2018's elections, Bolsonaro would never been elected... So, greed in politics.

The holodomor is the most easily debunked myth in history. The Soviets drained their eastern grain reserves to save the Ukrainians putting the Union at risk of a Japanese invasion, the claim they starved Ukraine is not only idiotic, it’s an insult to actual genocide victims
@trebah662
@trebah662 6 лет назад
JacatackLP the Holodomor was intentional. The Soviet government sent the army into Ukraine to seize food from the Ukrainians and divert it to many of the Russian and Byelorussian cities in the west. They went into houses and forced the peasants to give over everything they had. If a woman was found in an already harvested field trying to find any remnants of food left behind to feed her starving child, she would be shot for stealing from the state. Outside aid from the west was rejected to maintain the pride of the Soviet government that didn't care about its people despite claiming to be the vanguard of the workers. The Holodomor was intentional and killed millions, and rejecting it is just as bad as rejecting the Holocaust or the Armenian genocide. Volodymyr Shcherbytskyi, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, confirmed the Holodomor in 1987 under Glasnost. Even the Soviets, under Glasnost, recognised that the Holodomor was intentional. The evidence is immense

Rare Earth! I sincerely hope you realize that with this series on Artsakh you have contributed towards the development of peace in the region through communication and understanding! First of all, your research on the issue is so deep and elaborate. Second of all, your courage to stand for the truth despite its consequences is astounding! But most of all, I want to thank you for your involvement. Seeing positive even apologetic comments from Azeris is so rare that I dare say its unheard of! They comprehend their own suffering but are utterly incapable, from what I have witnessed, to see our suffering. Yet, scrolling through the comments I saw positive and sympathetic comments from Azeris despite the backlash that they received in response by their countrymen. To me this is a step in the right direction. I want to believe in the goodness of people despite the brutality of the reality in this region. I know there are good Azeris but reaching them seems to be impossible. A third, unaffiliated, party such as yourself brings a fresh perspective void of any accusations of lies and makes people actually listen. It's the communication that is missing because the hate that I have witnessed by the Azeris is frankly disturbing and scary. They don't even want to hear our side and meanwhile their government; headed by what most would consider nothing short from a dictator, fills their hearts and minds with hate for anything that stands Armenian. The propaganda is real. I have never been to Azerbaijan and as an Armenian I am not planning to set a foot in that country but I read about people who have visited (non-Armenians of course) who write that the main streets of their cities showcase billboards of casualties from the war with zero censorship and with severed bodies and then blame these atrocities on the Armenians. This is unbelievably disturbing! The maintenance of hate in the ordinary Azeri is state organized and it is delivered with such zeal that it's no wonder that Azeris behave the way they do. If Armenian government allowed itself to do such condemnable demonstrations on the streets of Yerevan then there are enough atrocities committed to our people to cover every wall of the city. Our government behaves like the head of a civilized nation like they should but on the other side we are faced with barbarism which is unheard of in this day and age. From what I have read and what I understand the motivation of the government to breed hate inside its Azeri citizens is nothing more than a tactic that the Aliyev regime has found to work in order for him to stay in power. He has been in power since 2003 and he has no intentions to step down. He has made presidential terms unlimited to retain his right to run for elections year after year. But in order to have the people vote for him he uses the conflict with the Armenians because as long as there is conceived threat by the 'bad' guys then he can act like the hero of his people and respond with aggression and war. By having the conflict fresh in the minds of its citizens the dictator can act like a hero in delivering what the people 'want' which is revenge. For them this region is just a sense of pride and for the Aliyev regime it is just a token to remain in power. Now, let me get back to my point. If only there's a fair discussion without toxic government involvement I think we can begin to resolve our differences and the comment section of your video has given me hope. I believe that an Azeri mother cares about the loss of life of her son or daughter as much as an Armenian mother does. I'm sure that the bloodshed is as heavily traumatizing to the Azeris as it is for us the Armenians. But to be able to see each other's sides we need communication and we need to actually listen and your video has delivered both of those things which is why I am grateful!

Greetings from Finland. We can totally get it how a people goes to awakening of being a nation. We too thought we were Christians, and Swedes. And then by cultural confrontation, started the realization, that we have a different identity, culture and language, and awoke as Finns. Many nations have never been independent, yet they exist. And neighboring nations often try to annihilate their culture, assimilate them. Same happened to us Finns: we live as a minority in Sweden, Norway, Russia, and everywhere they killed Finns and persecuted our culture and language, telling you can't be a Finn, you must adobt our culture. Sympathy and understanding. Let people of the world enlighten and live in peace, tolerating their differences.
