For anyone wondering, the 10km world record for men is 26:24. And yes, it's held by a Kenyan.

I enjoy the comedy on this show. Yes, even the cringeworthy. It is all for a laugh and sometimes I am made fun of and I don't mind because I know it is part of comedy and one takes the good along wih the bad and usually it balances out. I don't think any one on this program is truly mean spirited.

@ifandafydd7432

I completely agree but I don't think it's the comedians themselves that are less funny, I'd say it's mostly the format that reflects why earlier series haven't aged very well. One-liners and playing on words are just generally going out of fashion so a format which revolves around quite a laddish culture of taking it in turns trying to one-up each other in order to get a quick laugh is just a bit cringeworthy to look back on in my opinion. Do you remember the earliest series, when all six panellists had to go up and basically only got to stop once Dara had decided they'd had a big enough laugh? Going from four to two in this round to make time for the comedians to go into more depth in their routines rather than just throw out a cheap pun, as well as getting rid of various rounds (that one where they come up with a headline from the four letters they're given, that one where someone says what a politician says and another says what they really mean and all manner of awful roleplay-based ones from the first series) have really improved the show in my opinion. It's not just six middle-aged men trying to outdo each other any more.

@@renzo6490 Good. :) A lot of people seem to assume it's improvised and then get all offended when they find out that it isn't. The show doesn't ever claim to be improvised -- for example, the sections in the performance area are always described as letting them show their stand-up skills, not their improvisation skills.

Historians spend so much time studying War, because history is Written by the Victor. Okay, what about pre-history? Well, what did we do before we had War? I know, Hunting! That involved weapons, so all those cave paintings of buffalo were obviously "Hunting Scenes," instead of people watching buffalo walking around outside the cave, because they didn't have Telly. Were the brave warriors back in the cave, painting buffaloes, or where they out hunting buffaloes, while the wife and kids stayed home, decorating? How many words do you really need for Hunting? All right, now how many words do you need for, "Can you hand me that..." Snapping fingers. "No, not that, that." Pointing, "Thing there." So, the current theory is, we developed language to say "Stab anything that moves with the pointy end." Instead of mothers naming their children, so they knew which one was in trouble.
@Psiberzerker
@Psiberzerker 3 года назад
Hunter-gatherers. We even call them Hunter-gatherers. Now, which requires more words, Hunting, or Gathering? Which one has a longer shopping list? You have to gather Wood to start a fire, and cook... Whatever the boys bring back. Oh yes, and whatever we found, don't eat that, it's poisonous. So, let me get this straight, we invented the concept of "Throw a rock at that," before we made a phrase for "Don't put that in your mouth, do you know where it's been?" This is an actual theory. It's not just a joke, there are literally Anthropologists that believe that we invented language for hunting. You ever been hunting? Because we tend to talk about cars, and women more than hunting. There just isn't much to talk about there.

sorry to be a spoiler, but you reeaallyyy can't use the word "bantu" to refer to south african indigenous tribes anymore. it's almost as bad as the n-word (i. e. racist). Khoisan is best or even bushmen is acceptable. Also there are more than a dozen indigenous tribes and languages in South Africa. It's the Khoisan you're referring to. The joke was good though.
@mikefule330
@mikefule330 3 года назад
Bantu is a legitimate term for a wide group of related languages. The clicks are associated with various languages including Xhosa which is part of the Bantu linguistic group. It is no longer considered appropriate to use "Bantu" to refer to the various tribes, but it is still considered correct to use it to describe the language group. The word is used clumsily in this video, and he should have done his research better, but there was clearly no racist intent.
@moonhunter9993
@moonhunter9993 3 года назад
@@mikefule330 I know that. I am South African. But all the explaining away doesn't make the term any less problematic. The term 'bantu' IS NOT appropriate (as in politically incorrect) AND (especially because it's used incorrectly) also racist. Just because you grew up using the term doesn't mean it's still ok. Because it isn't any more!

Really ? You want to search and look thru old clips to desperatly (and ofcourse by your standards find ) something racist. Its a joke. @moonhunter9993

@@richieNL1 you know nothing. so please say nothing. I am European AND Caucasian but still know better than to use racist words. The anecdote is still funny and can still be told if he uses different (and more accurate) terms.

@@moonhunter9993 beeing offended is a choice. You dont have to feel offended. Its your choice if you do. There is nothing someone online or on a tv show say that can offend me. You have the right to feel offended i have the right to not give a sh* t about that. And your statement that your white and from europe has no meaning other then to show you are "woke". Comedians can and must make jokes about anyone and anything. Nothing is off limit. Because once you make a decision something cant be said, your one step away from censorship. Only thing that count is it funny. And if people laugh then you have your answer. People are way way to afraid to say something wrong these days. Like Elza said " let it go ".
