Please look up the upside down fire lighting method. I live on a boat and have a small wood burner, it starts much much quicker and more efficiently if you put in big logs first then smaller sticks then on top of that kindling, light at the top centre. May well be counterintuitive but it works. Anyway love your videos and music selection
I love the mini wood stove!!!! I have a tiny little pot & lid that I would use on the top to cook with 🍳 😎I’m so happy for Adeli getting her own space! She deserves it🥰
a rubber smoothing trowel works good also....me n my ole man brothers are getting ready to stucco our stick built farm house....it is a lost family art we are re-visitung....I guess a project on our bucket list!
Your humor is one of the things I enjoy most about this channel! I don't have anywhere to put a Cubic Mini, but I think it's great you're creating the cozy for your daughter and future guests. What's the plan for summer heat mitigation?
I mean this in the kindest way from one to others. You guys are dorks. I know because I am one too. This is a badge of honor, you should wear proudly! It’s the little things! I just sense kinship! Love your whole family! From Oregon with ♥️ Jess
Best video of the tiny dome yet! The floor is beautiful! Ashley you are too funny! Thank you for sharing the grout learning process with us! We loved being a part of the building and now being a part of its finishing by video is wonderful! Thank you for the update and great quality video! Sarah & Cory
The mini wood stove is cute but not as cute as the two of you!!😍❤️🌈 Cheers to my Tiny Shiny Home fam!!🙌🙌🙌 Things are moving along at a good clip👏👏👏 Can't wait to see the walls go up on the home build🤞🤞
The little fire going in was worth all the last minute prep work. Its going to be amazing in there ,it gives the place a nice warm feeling ,even when it’s not working.I always think a fire makes a home, home, especially in the winter.I am in a flat and sadly only have a fake electric one.I put it on when it’s very cold and it makes you feel warmer!even though I don’t use the hear lol!.Great job,It will soon be finished and Adelaide can then have her own space ..Love and hugs to you all 🥰
You two are awesome. Keep these coming. So many out here are always looking for tips and tricks for these kinds of builds. Sweet building. It would make an excellent air b and b. ❤❤❤❤
I love wood stoves. Not all wood burns the same or puts out the same amount of heat or smells nice. Mesquite, cherry, apple , cypress and pine smell great. Cottonwood is horrible in smell and heat. The ash is great for the garden. Congratulations on all your hard work ❤❤❤
For all those who wonder if the stovepipe is tall enough. Those rules apply to a rectangular structure not a dome. Domes do not disrupt the wind like boxes do. Ashley, a flue carries combustion gases to the outside. And a chimney is a masonry structure containing a flue. Also since your stove has primary and secondary air inlets it is considered high efficiency. Having the fresh air intake across the room from the stove might cause a cold draft. Leading to the "campfire rotisserie effect" for someone inside. I recommend a 2in vent next to the stove if this becomes a problem.
yes, when we had the window cracked it was not good. we've done a lot of research on this so we're pretty confident with what we've done. our fire chief neighbor agrees :)
I love love love the pennies. I had always wanted to do a floor like that. I was worried about mice getting inside so was impressed by that chimney cover. Very cool.
I loved how Ashley said, "this is Nota how to, this is a what I'm doing." 😂 I think we all can relate to this while doing home projects. So, is the dome more expensive to build per sq ft overall?
Thank you for sharing your builds. Very inspirational.. I love the mini stove heater. (Took down info) Love the pennies, took note. Now I see the steps outside which I didn’t see before. I’m looking for land myself.. ☮️
Great, Adali gets to use the dome for now! Nice paint brush smoothing tip. Thanks. It does look hard to do the plaster inside the woodstove area. That was a good idea to cut and burn back the bag on the arch to the stove area. Cool, tiling the hearth area with pennies! It looks great! I like The grout color you made Ashley! I like The handholds with the stucco covering! Yup, masonry bits with a hammer drill. I've had to do that to hang curtains in an old brick building I lived in. Yup, get the draw going first with the paper wads and the small kindling! Then get a little bigger wood pieces loaded in and close the door to get it going. Then load it up with bigger pieces of wood and open up the bottom air a little. The less you open it the slower it will burn. On our big wood stove as the air flow decreases due to ash build-up you need to scoop out the ash into a ash bucket when fire is just coals and then you can get it going better. That is such a cute stove! To make sure that our stove wood catches fire we use fat sticks. They are fool proof for getting the fire started. Thanks for this video Longnecker family.
Bonjour la famiille. oui, c'est moi William in France. I'm back !!! Novembre and Décembre were quite busy for me as a photographer in our city. I have missed the doggies, goats, the kids and the parental units. Ashley, thanks for the orange sky @9:48. I missed them. so now i'm going to work backwards and catch up. it's cold here. minus11 degrees Celcius. it's not weather for the timide or faint of heart. i'm a SoCal guy and i dying. The Penny Hearth is genius and imagine if it were a walkway: let's call it 'Penny Lane !'
I am so excited to see the Cubic mini stove installed. I purchased one (the larger Grizzle model) over 5 years ago that is still in a box along with several different types of venting, pipe, etc. I wanted to install it in a travel trailer but never could figure out exactly how to cut a hole in the curved roof and get the vent sealed on the curve. I do hope you put one in the your trailer since it has the same curved roof. These work well in small boats so there is no reason why they wouldn't be good in trailer other than the install issue through (in my case fiberglass) the curved roof since there is not way to have it in the middle of the floor where the roof is flat on top. Also, you may need to extend the pipe on the mini dome install up higher than the top of its peak for best draw and to eliminate the smoke smell from where you have cap now. It truly is a leaning curve.
Ashley, you remind us of our Ashley. You are beautiful and amazing. Did I say tough and solutions oriented too? Yep you both are. Creative to the max wow
A lot of projects done on the one! Adeline (?) needs to appear in more videos. It’s been nice to see her in more lately. I thought I heard some saying that the done was 12’ a couple of videos ago, then this video I heard 9’. Which is accurate. Looks more like 9’ than 12’ but videos can be deceiving. Always enjoy watching your family!
When you first said you were going to use pennies, my first thought was...ok she's gone too far. But, of course, I was wrong and it was BRILLIANT!!!!! I love your adventuresome spirit and your amazing ideas!!!! That is going to be a dream room for Adali!!(I hope I spelled her name correctly.)
I love the penny floor and the tiny shiny little wood stove is ADORABLE!! 🥰 I’ve been waiting for this part! I also can’t wait to see how you guys do the floor in the rest of it. 😊 I hope you have a beautiful week and I love you all!❤
There are hand / foot hold that are in INDOOR CLIMBING GYMS (rock climbing gyms) that would be PERFECT for the mini dome..... for climbing up on it......
Adali needs a tiny teapot to sit atop the wood burner. Wrap a potato on foil and stick it in there too. after , put an egg in the hot ashes in evening and have a hard cooked egg for breakfast.
Very cute wood stove, We installed a wood cook stove on our ranch last winter and love having it (after having a power outage for 12 days with a 40 degree house). My only concern is it seems like you would be having to add wood all the time.
hey guys ,been watching you for a long time and always get a smile on my face when i get a notification. i ive done the copper coin thing before but always thought about useing different shade/tarnish of coin to do a mosiac. yeah right me. lots of ideas zero artistic talent. BUT WAIT!!!! ive seen your kids drawings. Im willing to bet thar they could come up with something amazing. Just a thought. keep doing what your doing .
The coins were a great idea, Here in the U K coins placed under the window sill of new builds was to bring wealth to the building a tradition long gone now. So here's hoping.
