CP had a point when mentioning how the older generation doesn’t get scammed as much online but over the phone their numbers are extremely high cause they are more likely to still call places to pay bills etc. just giving stats can sound good or bad but once you breakdown how the study is done and who the survey pool is. It doesn’t seem as bad. I would argue kids are smarter now but the culture is a lot faster now. Plus we advance things simply for connivence we have cars we not riding horses.

Im with CP on this one. maybe ppl were smarter back then but let's think about it... what makes a genius is how much info they can remember. Back then ppl had to remember a lot of info using their brain ( remember we only use 10% - 15% of our brain).... But now we have all the information at our finger tips and I think this is more beneficial. Would you rather memorize the encyclopedia in the Library or would you like to have instant access to all the encyclopedias? There are a lot of kids starting profitable businesses bc of the instant access to information... A person can hv a high IQ but could have a brain full of senseless info that does not add value to them or their family.

I don't think IQ's should be discussed with reference to technology. A persons IQ as it is understood is there ability to reason/comprehend and solve problems and learn. There are people in 3rd world countries who if giving the opportunity to be given an IQ test (that is culturally responsive) who would soar. I think she is saying people don't understand skilled trades or they don't have skills but if they started teaching skills again peopes abilities to learn wouldn't change they would just be learning different stuff. The issue is they stopped teaching us useful skills but me having more skills doens't mean my IQ is higher. there are a significant number of people on the ASD spectrum who would test in the gifted category 130+ on an IQ test that aren't able to maintain regular life skills but there are people in this generation with the average range who have learned to put and take apart things.
