To this day The Cramps are the best live band I ever saw. I never missed a chance to see them. Still have Lux's harmonica he threw to me after their last show in Seattle. I keep it in a medical specimen biohazard bag. Best souvenir ever. :o)
i saw them after they played the tube at the mayfair in newcastle that night, one of my all time top 3 gigs, had worked the stage crew on their show the week before in leicester & rode over 200 miles up to see them again they were so good!
Where's the love for Poison Ivy? I don't care who you are, this WOMAN rocks. Taylor Swift isn't fit to carry Ivy's guitar case. Pay attention girls, you can be beautiful and have talent at the same time.
@@sigibson3917 On this we are in total agreement. Nothing sends me into a white hot rage quicker than someone, such as Ivy,who has real talent & dedication to their instrument,is completely overlooked in favor of someone else who at best have a fraction of her talent. Truly it bothers me when much is made about somebody who's talent is limited. Lenny Kravitz comes to mind. His guitar "technique" (LoL) is this... Step 1: Create the most basic of riffs. Step 2: Proceed to play that riff & nothing else for 2 & a half, maybe 3 minutes. Step 3: Create a rough draft of his acceptance speech at the Grammys. Not only is Ivy uber talented, she in large part created the psychobilly sound. Long live Poison Ivy. Long live Rock n Roll.
@Shaunduhpostman He’s talking about the energy that gave birth to this cacophony, not the music itself. Nothing and nobody truly dies; it just gets reconfigured into something else (or something)
I saw the Cramps in Berlin in 1986 and it was by far the best concert of the 80s that I can remember. I came out of the hospital with my broken leg and my canes and went straight there. I will always love them. The Cramps are the alarm sound and ringtone on my mobile phone. So - if anyone ever hears the Cramps on the Berlin subway, it might be my cell phone ;-)
When you're 16, the music you listen pretty much defines you. I first heard The Cramps in about 1981 and it stayed with me. I saw them live on a number of occasions and they never disappointed. I'm 57 now and I still love them. I just wish Ivy might do something new, but when the love of your life goes, it must be hard to carry on. I got 96 tears in 96 eyes
same. epic. and I was 16. I was 4 when you first heard about the Cramps and I totally still claim them as being within my generation. multi-generation spanning band that flew under so many radars
lovely comment. I bet Ivy's doing stuff. we just may never hear about it... she's such a total guitar hero..!!! I learned to cheat a B by watching her. ha! I can (and do) say "Ivy taught me how..." rest in rock, Lux Interior.
I should rewatch this to catch the name of whoever did the audio recording of this. They knew what they were doing. This is one of the best sounding live recordings I ever heard. Good 'n Loud, has that raw crunch and at the same time, its CLEAR. Great visuals too, well it's The Cramps after all (miss 'em).
I was 16 when I saw this....electrifying stuff. Probably the only time they ever got to perform live on National TV anywhere in the world I would imagine.
Saw them in Cardiff in 85 or 86, been to hundreds of gigs since and it’s still the best performance I’ve seen, RIP Lux my heart is still with you and the incomparable Ivy ❤️
33 years ago. Sadly only two of these guys left now. I was 16 when this aired and only now am I getting into the cramps' music. And damn, Lux was older than my Dad!
I saw them in 1990 at the Glasgow Barrowlands. Best gig I ever witnessed, It was so good I got the bus to London to see them, slept on a park bench in Regents Park and then got the first bus home the next morning.
I remember seeing this at the time, and I was completely mesmerized. Next morning went out and bought their A Date With Elvis album (vinyl, of course!). Brilliant album and brilliant band
Thank you….iM a little new….Iike what’s inside and bikini girls….best so far….Hope for other good ones….the album art girl is soooooo sexy with her giant self and that open mouth….some girls know how to pose…
I saw them in '86..at the Ritz or Irving Plaza..can't remember which venue..but I'll never forget that show...Poison Ivy..one of rocks most overlooked and under rated guitarists..and there was no one like the late great Lux Interior..RIP
You are proving your coolness when you cannot remember which venue you saw such a cool band play at. I would not be a different age, 80s were the best time to be young
@@HPSwashere Being 53 it would be dodgy as fuck if i even knew what that is! My niece told me, apparently she likes it!Looks a bit Colombine long leather coats and emo shootings to me, but im a old Punk rocker that has had more chemicals than ICI and still here to tell the tale. You half right! I done 12 of toughest jails in UK, sold pot, smuggled tobacco, robbed designer clothes and anything from grand father clocks to gold and watches. Also robbed a few banks in my youth. So half right. I get what you mean like "Puny Earthlings" As i mock from a swing chair in a lair. Got you. Stay frosty.
I've never seen The Cramps ❤ live 😃 but I remember watching them on the Tube in 86 with some friends enjoying a Stoner Party 🥳 🎉 😄 🍸 🍹 🍾 🍾 🍺 🍻 🚬 & and I LOVE ❤️ Them Still 😅 Absolutely 🌟 💯 ❤️ 🌟 🦄 ❤️ 🌟 🤩 🥳 🎉 🪅 🎊
tell the truth. you know u love, watchin poisonivy rocking it out.only got 2 see em live once.best show ive ever seen.freaking Lux climbed up a stack of speakers, like he was king kong. hes all scrunched up, because there wasn't much room. all u can see, is his head. they did a double encore. nobody left when they were done. just couldn't leave cuz they were awesome.
bruh only you can tell that story, thank you, im 26 and i love the cramps that fucked style of they way they lay shit down is so fucking tight, no one will ever pull it off again. thank you for sharing
I remember this well..Came home from school & always watched this..But was this was the best, by one of the best bands at the time...Thanks for the up load...Nice one...
I came across this band about six years ago after loving rock n roll music all of my life. Blew me away. So original with a killer sound. I must still revisit this video in particular once a month at least. Love every single thing about it.
LOL I was 17 years old and went down to London to see the Cramps at Hammersmith Palais in 1984, spent an uncomfortable night sleeping rough on York Way next to Kings Cross before getting the train back up North. Christ knows what my parents were thinking letting me go without somewhere to stay, different times I guess.
I live in San Francisco, and for a few years in the 80s and 90s the cramps or motorhead would either the Halloween show or NYE show and they alternated. Music really was cool back then.
One of the most powerful , transgressive, and rock'n roll video here, despite the quality of image (or maybe BECAUSE of it.....) Can't imagine theme touring with Suicide/Alan vega.....
😁😁😁 Roy Orbinson on the Drums 😆😆😆!!!... It was a New Year's Show (because the Golden and Shine clear Clothes; not the Black Shine Vinyl)???... Excellent Video👏👏👏!!!
May i chim in...somewhere back in time and space...RODON CONCERT HALL...Athens...greatest ever concert...everybody flew around...bodies everywhere...make this seem like watching mozart...missed so much...travel faster than light i ll come across again...
When music came from the streets it really meant something . I feel sorry for kids today it's so manufactured and boring even the singers are bland . The cramps were bloody brilliant .
Saw this tour at the end - Candy DelMar was on Bass by then. Jockey Club August 3rd, 1986. I've seen hundreds of bands perform live, from living rooms to arenas - Nothing compares to seeing the Cramps live - Nothing. It was life-changing.
I feel so disrespectful saying I would marry ivy she’s everything a man wants in a woman down to her loyalty and love for her man. Lux and ivy were perfect for each other
Ivy fluffs the opening guitar line :) look and you'll see Lux freeze in fear a moment. Then she pulls it back and it's on with the show. That's live TV for you
How the hell did we go from that .. to todays pap .. remember watching this on the tube when it aired n it blew my mind .. never seen anything as raw to this day ...
