As a child I was absolutely terrified from this spiky clown. As a teenager, I was fascinated by how cool this music video is, made me want to start a band. As an adult, I realize that Dolores' voice is an entire era.

Suddenly this song came to my head a few minutes ago, so I'd to come here and listen it. It felt so good while I was listening it SALVATION!

I've been humming this song for the better part of 20 years, and seeing that it came out when I was just a young teenage boy, I never learned any of the lyrics, incredibly catchy chorus excluded ofc. But the song stayed in my head and I would hum it with great reverence from time to time, all the while I slowly developed a crippling addiction to, you guessed it, heroin. And so today, as a 35-year-old man, between watching video essays on all the topics, parsing world news, and catching up on footy highlights, I randomly decide to type "Salvation The Cranberries" into the search bar and crank my speakers to dangerous levels. My right hand is sharing real estate between my mouse and a lighter, while my left-hand holds a piece of foil with my....heroin on it. As she (beautifully) sings the opening lines of the song, beneath her angelic face, a row of plain white subtitles finally reveals to me what she has been warning of all these years. If only I knew.......would anything really be different. I am suddenly yanked away from my thoughts by the arrival of the massive chorus, only to realize that I am sobbing.....uncontrollably. Each time Dolores knowingly looks at the camera, I feel she is looking directly at me, straight through the barriers of time, of the confines of reality. And so, as quickly as the song had invaded my entire being, it was finished. Though I was not done crying by a long shot. Between each choppy, labored, and stuttering, sob, I gasped for air, as the word salvation began to permeate through to my conscious train of thought. My eyes lowered down to the foil which now rested on the keyboard. My skin drew back, my breathing calmed I knew it, I knew it; all of the vulnerability and honesty, the pain and sadness of a life so damaged and drained, was quickly hushed and snuffed to make way for the sweet smoke which rapidly filled my lungs. And in the last moments of something resembling clarity, resembling humanity, with the last thoughts I had before poisonous bliss consumed me, I wondered if even for me, there is salvation out there.
