The Craziest Godzilla Movie Ever Made! - Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire Trailer Reaction! 

You can't tell me that Adam Wingard wasn't COMPLETELY high while writing the script for GxK 😂

When they said Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will have more Sci-Fi/fantasy elements than Godzilla vs Kong, they weren’t kidding at all!

If anyone is concerned about the bad CGI in this film, supposedly according to KDM, the cgi shown in the trailer is not finished and will look way better in film once it comes out in April. Hopefully that’s true cuz the trailer does contain some wacky lookin CGI lol

As someone who has embraced the fact that the Monsterverse is now fully relegated to dumb, fun action movies, I have to say, this trailer actually gave me some mixed feelings. It is very jarring to see Godzilla running like that at the end, even though they explain it through his evolution it's just . . . weird. Also, the more these movies take place in environments like the hollow Earth, with little or no human architecture, the more the scale of the creatures disappears. You could show someone that final shot of them running and if that person isn't familiar with the characters or franchise, they'd have no reason to think they are supposed to be 400 feet tall. And that raw anticipation we had for Godzilla vs. Kong because it was the first time they'd been in a movie together in over half a century? Well, we've crossed that bridge and it already doesn't seem so special anymore. I'm still hyped to see it overall and am curious what surprises it might have in store. But to me, it feels like Godzilla vs. Kong pushed the franchise to a line of craziness and silliness that ought not have been crossed further and now they have happily done a double flip over that line.

An observation I noticed about Godzilla’s evolution is just how much fat he’s burned so him running faster than he did in GvK makes sense. Plus for me, Godzilla moving at this speed isn’t that far fetched to me cause Godzilla had similar speeds in Godzilla Final Wars.

It’s a good year for Goji fans, we got the beautifully made and tonally serious Godzilla Minus One and we’re also getting a totally campy, Showa-esque monster brawling film. WE’RE EATING GOOD

If y’all would allow me for just a minute: I saw Minus One in theaters today and it is BY FAR my favorite movie of 2023, and as I was on my way home I kept thinking to myself, “Man, I have NO IDEA how The New Empire is EVER gonna top this” Then this dropped And now I have ideas SEVERAL IDEAS TLDR: Sunday December 3rd 2023 is a day that will forever live in my memory as The DAY OF GOJIRA HYPE Ok I’m done now… Actually p.s. they showed a new trailer for Legacy of Monsters and it looks like there’s more cool things coming that I would NOT have predicted. Ok that’s it.

It's going to be extremely weird when you realize this fantastical Godzilla story and the grounded elements of Apple TV+'s Monarch are happening in the same timeline and see Godzilla and Kong run side by side was awesome and the only problem I see it human part, I already see in the trailer the human part going be dumb again like in the past movies

It looks absolutely insane, but in a good way. Personally, I can kind of see the Showa Era vibes that some people are talking about: it looks more like a modernization of that style, but I think that’s fine. I mean, going all out on Showa Era-level madness wouldn’t work for this film with today’s audience.

Has anyone noticed that Godzilla’s body shape changed into something that looks like Mechagodzilla? Slightly longer arms, slimmer build? He also seems faster and more agile too. It makes me wonder if he evolved this way as a result of his battle with the Mecha in Godzilla vs Kong, so now he’s more prepared to fight something like him.

I'm honestly keeping my expectations low. The trailer does scream "Marvel" to me. I am excited for this one to come out but not like I was (and still kind of am) for Minus One.

I'm really interested to see more of Gia's story develope because of her connection to kong and whatever transpires from her scene in the tailor. As for godzilla and kong running side by side, it looked so bad, yet it was fantastic!

I wasn't too thrilled at the trailer at first but now it's kinda growing on me. Godzilla's new changes are definitely something that's gonna get used to like his new color and running speed too but as long as this doesn't continue into future movies, I think it'll be good.

Maybe that baby ape could end up being the bad guy somehow, and that big shadow of him was literally foreshadowing.

Honestly I see this movie being the way they write Kong out of the Monsterverse so Godzilla can go back to solo movies for a time. Give Kong a happy ending with some family.

I love that we get to have 2 sides of Godzilla going simultaneously, the dark and serious side with Shin and -1.0, and thos goofy shit. I love it all.

Adam Wingard is a Huge Godzilla Fan for Godzilla vs. Kong 2021 was great and I'm Super Excited to see The New Empire and the Lore/Origins of the Titans just like there is a Rumor that Spacegodzilla will appear in the Post-Credit scene heading towards Earth.

Great reactions! I'm definitely not as excited as I was for GvK but I'm not counting it out. Serious showa era vibes along with some other references and I like that since it's my favorite era. Goji looks like G2K and the purple makes sense since it's the color of royalty

This must me have been what it felt like when Godzilla vs Astro Monster came out, but like x100 We goin full Sci-Fi now bois. I for one really love it, I’m not excited for the film like GvK or KOTM where “it had to be good!!” And all my eggs were in their baskets, but I’m excited for it in the sense of seeing where it goes and just having fun along the ride. Adam Wingard and the team behind it sound like they had a blast making the film, so I’m willing to embrace the insanity, especially since we just got Minus One and Monarch being our down to earth serious Godzilla media, I’m fine to flip the switch on the other side of the spectrum and go full throttle in full Showa Godzilla energy Edit: I literally got a a GXK Trailer for the ad to this video when I rewatched oml 😆

The trailer dropped right when I was in the middle of watching Godzilla Minus One for the first time. I like to think it was when he used his atomic breath in Ginza, it probably wasn't though, couldn't check at the time, obviously.

I think some of us are nitpicking so much first trailers always have shit and bad CGI for example king Kong 2005 trailer had shit CGI, but the movie was amazing and as for the baby ape Suko he doesn't even have to replace Kong it can be like a son of Godzilla situation where Suko is just a sidekick to Kong and we see more apes of scar king so Kong might become the alpha and king of them and hollow earth also my opinion I am kind of mix feelings of happy and a bit nervous overall I am excited for this movie can't wait for Mothra

I'm Excited to see what Shimu looks like and Kong getting his Electricity Powers.

If you look at the scene with all the apes and Skar King jumps down. You can see all the apes have the red handprint on their bodies. So these are his clan and subservients. So he's not killing them. Also direct center in one ape with no handprint, I think that's Kong. This is NOT a flashback but Kong being brought in and meeting Skar king. Probably they fight and Kong's arm gets messed up and he escapes. Leading to the creating of arm brace for him.

If you look closely when the orange monk jumps down. You can see Kong right at the back in the middle of the mini monkeys

Hope we don’t see people complaining about the human involvement here. I love the dynamic of the main humans interacting with baby Kong. That’s super similar to when the main humans would interact with baby Godzilla in final wars and I believe even in space Godzilla. If ppl complain about that I think it’s purely legendary hate

I saw Minus One on Saturday and my god, what an impactful film. It just shows how shallow and lazy the Western entertainment industry's thinking is on these kinds of films, that it's impossible to have a compelling story about the humans in a kaiju movie. My one issue is with the budget comparisons made in the reviews; if the Japanese film industry properly paid their actors, G -1 wouldn't have cost much more.

They need to do a Destroy all Monsters Remake that it could be the Avengers of the Monsterverse showing Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Rodan and Jet Jaguar fighting an Alien Invasion but we could also see Gigan and Mecha-King Ghidorah.

These movies are absolutely sci-fi. The hollow Earth is a classic science fiction setting used in so many stories before the Legendary films. On another note, I'm pretty sure little Kong is the same species as Kong. He has basically the same coloration as the younger Kong did in Skull Island, except for the green eyes.

The Monsterverse picking up the slack were the DCU and MCU is slippin!

I think it’s best to do optimistic about the movie. It’s clear to say this movie will be VERY crazy and different with all the monsters and story. This movie is a big right turn for things, i really hope this movie is done right though to be fixed. Ps: gxk has entered like 1970s level crazy stuff with Godzilla.

As long as they execute the sillyness of it well, shoukd be cool to watch.

I love G-2000... I saw it at Drive-in when it came out... This Godzilla design doesn't look close to that Godzilla. I think that the Monsterverse is taking a turn for the worst. I get SHOWA ERA GAMARA vibes from this trailer, and that's not a good thing. The 2014 'Godzilla' movie was very grounded. I think they should have stuck to that formula. Thank goodness the Japanese are back in the Godzilla game!

Looks like a late '60s/early '70s Toho Godzilla movie but made in 2023 with a 200-ish million dollar budget. I'll be there opening day, as usual. Curious to see if Scar King gets any help. I don't want to see another team up with either Godzilla or Kong not being able to take down the enemy by themself again. Hopefully the "Kong can't do it alone" line is a reference to a double team of Scar King and... something. I have it on good authority that it's gonna be Gigan... yes I'm kidding.

I understand how people are worried about CGI but Adam could be hiding other titans which could make quality control go down because of how many titans will be in the film not fully sure tho just a thought.

That pink Godzilla isn’t the real Godzilla, it’s Mechagodzilla. Hear me out…take a look at the way Godzilla turns his head at 2:15 of the trailer. It does the same mechanical jerk motion that Mechagodzilla did right before facing off with Godzilla in GvK. Also, if you look at the way he is laying in that G-cocoon, or whatever the hell that thing is that supposedly evolves him, it looks very similar to the way Mechagodzilla was laying before he was activated the first time in GvK. I think it’s Mechagodzilla with some sort of organic skin that was generated in that cocoon. That would explain why Godzilla’s dorsal fins are a different color and why his lower body is so thin (also a Mechagodzilla trait). So if it is Mechagodzilla in disguise ala Toho’s Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, how did that happen? Here’s my theory…yes, Mechagodzilla was defeated by Godzilla and Kong in GvK, but someone has to pick up the pieces and get rid of them right? And what better place to keep a robot from reactivating than in a freezing environment right? So they dump the MG remains in the arctic. Mechagodzilla never fully shut off so he reactivates after they leave him. It’s cold in the arctic so he develops the MG-cocoon because what better way to survive the cold than monster flesh. Ok so MG is up and running, so why does he team with Kong. Remember Ghidorah transferred his consciousness to Mechagodzilla in GvK and still wants to rule the world. Side note: it’s also why he can create the cocoon. BUT he fears any attempts to reclaim his throne may be thwarted by the highly intelligent and violent Scar King. The enemy of my enemy is my friend right? So MG hooks up with Kong to take out the Scar King. MG/Ghidorah figures once the Scar King is gone, because Godzilla is MIA, he can take out Kong easily. Kong needed Godzilla to make his axe powerful enough to defeat MG. No Godzilla, bye bye Kong, and no Kong, if Godzilla shows up, bye bye Godzilla. Real Godzilla gone, MG/Ghidorah takes his place. All the monsters bow to Godzilla and because MG replaces Godzilla, they now bow to MG. Boom new ruler of the world. King Ghidorah wins.

Not the best CGI but I’m still hyped for this, they also could have like released the teaser trailer when they’re finished with the CGI but let’s try to give WB and Legendary some more time anyways they got 4 months before the film is released so yeah l hope they improve
