Let me just say: I know the post says "In the 1980s" however, I just wanted to showcase how only 74 games is actually absurd for an entire decades worth of hockey! That's all.. Hope you enjoyed!
This is such a great vid, been binging your channel the whole day lol, had an interesting video idea for after your Babcock one you plan on releasing, maybe something like, "The Worst Chokes in NHL History" stuff like teams having a colossal collapse or a player making a costly blunder to lose, idk just an idea!
The funniest stat line I ever saw was Ottawa Senators goaltender Daniel Berthiaume. During the 1993-94 season he played one game and allowed two goals in under one minute before getting pulled. According to hockeydb, his GAA for the season is 120.00, while wikipedia has it as 184.62. Either way, it's got to be a record lol!
GAA is goals per 60 minutes played. If he allowed 2 goals in exactly 1 minute of play his GAA would be 120.00 (goals allowed x 60 mins/total minutes played). A GAA of 184.62 with two goals allowed shows that he let in those two goals in only 39 seconds.
Then you have 2009, where Sidney Crosby became the youngest captain to even raise the Stanley Cup and then you have Mario Lemieux who became the only owner and former player to even win a Stanley Cup for the same team he played for.
I'm a bit surprised no stat lines made it from that crazy Oilers Flames series of 2022, with that net breaking outbreak of goals. Both teams threatened to hit double digit goals in a single game multiple times, and I think both teams did hit double digits at least once, in different games.
I know this isn't what we're supposed to focus on, but do I see a black on blue game happening at 3:09 between the Canucks and Rockies? How did that happened? I mean, only one of those teams should be wearing dark and the other would be wearing white (or yellow for the Canucks back then, who like the Kings had yellow jerseys serve as their home jerseys instead of white)
So just looked it up, and the yellow jersey was the home jersey and the black jersey was the away jersey. Rockies played in Vancouver so I believe that’s it!
