I grew a beard, got married, had 3 kids, divorced, lost the kids and house in an intense and emotional legal battle and came back to this video just in time for the beat to drop
A-Trak used to do technical scratching for way too long in his rave sets back in the day, like a minute+ straight of just scratching and it was the biggest vibe killer 😂 Dudes a great turntablist but we’re not at the DMC world championships bradda!
@@jasonlieberman4606 context is: bunch of ravers high af wondering why the beat is taking so long to drop, and then when it drops a few people puke and everyone has a good time 👍
It's not even technically impressive. He just set a loop and shortened it over time + some fx. Sounded absolutely terrible. And look at the master level. It's being raped completely clipping full in the red.
When it takes forever for the beat to drop… I feel like the guy at the bar ordering a drink and the bartender starts to flair. Like bruh, just pour my damn drink and give it to me.
@@toenibbler5982 its not about if those people can do this, its just not good when u are at a party and the buildup is so damn long. Doesnt mean its not skillful.
People say they don't like the delay of the drop but I fucking love never knowing where a DJ is taking you to the point of "what the fuck is happening rn" Then it drops
💯💯💯 that's why we have different djs, genres, venues.. people don't all like that same stuff... to me, the skill needed to do this, MOST dinosaurs who don't use the technology will never get, or appreciate... this drop went to mats n back n just took me on a journey... DOPE!
Bro I grew up, went to my first party, got a job, got a wife, I got married, got a son which turned 28 today and got divorced, became a grandpa and all that whilst I'm still waiting for that f*cking drop to come...
Lmao you must have never played on a nxs2 or 750mk2. They're literally made with internal limiters that WANT the abuse. If u dont run them hot then the channels always too finicky
@@djkonnektshunvegas6074 Nothing "wants" the abuse. Just because the mixers DSP is impossible to clip and the outputs have crazy headroom doesnt mean that they are meant to be redlined. Its actually a great way to literally melt the drivers your subwoofers from the square wave that results from the limiter pushing too hard. Use your gear properly, keeping the loudest part of the track at -3db or so and the master at -6. The sound guy probably turned you down since you're trying to go so loud, and channel imbalance was an effect.
As a huge fan of Drum and Bass, this was so refreshing to see!! 🔥💥 I was wondering if James Hype would ever come up with some creative DnB mixing techniques and he finally did! 👍
When you forget you are meant to be DJ ing for the people dancing... it looked like a zombie apocalypse they were all just standing there waiting for the beat to kick in. Lol cool skills but not good DJing it's bit like a footballer just doing kick ups. Impressive but sort of ruins the experience for everyone else.
You can't dance constantly. If it's high energy all the time, it doesn't contrast. Long periods without climax make the crescendo better. Usually when people make an album, the song with the best drop has the longest build up. You've got a weird idea of how this works. 1. People get to stop moving after dancing for awhile to regain stamina 2. It creates high dynamic range in the lower register, which is extra impactful at a club with loud bass 3. It makes the experience a lot more unique from just listened to the music like you would by yourself.
@@christiantaylor1495 clearly been a while since you have been to a club. Yes occasionally pauses are fine, but this went on waay too long and then the drop wasn't even that good. If you want a rest, go buy a drink, the music is not designed to give you timeout. An album is a completely different mode, people listen to them at different times, cannot compare the two.
@@gmarz9611when you are to a proper dj set, things like this are almost why you're here. When he plays with the crowd. And for changing genre from edm to dnb it's cool to have a small break.
@@markeymarkmarkey1795 google what "appeal to accomplishment" means, read your comment again and then do some conclusion based on newly acquired knowledge
This honestly would be horrible at the club, I know when I'm in the club and you got a sound like that playing your ears explode 😭 this only looks good for a video not enjoyable at all for people in the club
I would of been trip tf out being on the pill listening to this dj lmao... 🤣🤣🤣 I would of been like wtf is going breathing in and out so damn hard hahahaha.
Sounded absolutely awful for the first 15 seconds. I can just see everyone on the dance floor looking around like ‘whose fucking idea was this night out?’ Having said that he did demonstrate a good level of skill in the end. Too many DJs just press play nowadays, which is fine, unless you’re getting paid 80k per gig. At that price I expect a bit of panache
I honestly can't stand this type of music (I say 'type' bc idk if it should even be considered a 'genre' and 'style' would be way to generous a word..) but I can recognize talent when I see it in any form, even if it's something I hate.. so even still I was kinda hyped when the title and caption of a short made it seem like it was gonna be something sick or epic.. hella disappointing that anyone would call this music or be impressed by it... If you aren't familiar with the band Tool then I highly recommend giving them a listen, especially if you feel like you've lost hope for good music. They are an older band (started early 90's) but their latest album was 2019 and it is *chef's kiss* Other bands that restore my music-faith: Polyphia The Plot In You Shokran All 4 bands I have mentioned are quite different, but all have some of the best songs I've ever heard
@@ThisIsTheIkeMaster Bro just admit you don’t understand EDM & leave it that. It’s okay to not understand certain genres of music. You don’t gotta go on a spiel about how your music is better because it’s not. ‘I can recognise when something takes talent.’ Clearly you can’t, because DJing does take just as much talent as any other form of live music. This guy has tonnes of videos that demonstrate a wide variety of DJing talent. This video just wasn’t a great example of his musicality (and this video still demonstrates a good amount of skill & talent despite how dodgy it sounds, in the same way that it takes a lot of skill & talent to shred guitar at high speed even though it usually sounds like distorted dogshit; which bands like Tool definitely contribute a share of.) Just admit to yourself you don’t know what you’re looking at
@@matthewvaughan8192 If you've ever heard a Tool song and thought that the focus was "high speed shredding" then you don't deserve to voice your opinion on music.. sorry.. I can't argue your perspective that it sounds like "distorted dogshit" bc that's how you hear it and there's nothing wrong with you not liking them, but to even imply that Tool contributes to mindless shredding means you've either never heard a tool song or genuinely have no idea what it takes to write music... and honestly you're an idiot, what I said was that it isn't a genre I like but I was willing to give it a chance and this video did not have any right to hype itself up this much and while you were throwing a fit about me voicing that the commenter I was replying to should check out certain music I like you agreed with my point about this video...
@@lionelhill323 is bad pratice and deteriorates audio signal. Pioneer even included CLIP lights above channels in 900NX2, as we see shining in the video, but i guess it doesn't matter. I think the way they should implemented it, is a hard clipping limiter, when you hit it, it ducks the sound hard down. Only way to teach manners to inneducate people is punishiment.
On purpose. To avoid 30 seconds of what can be described Accurately as a CD Skipping. I can listen to Prodigy., The Blade Movie Scene Music all day. Even bought a Krafty Kuts record after hearing part of Through the door. But CD Skipping should be limited to 6..7..seconds... Max. It's like watching MTV back in the 90s and your favorite song is Set to a Video that is 2 minutes longer than the actual song. 😢😢😢I disowned my tech savvy friend... who would download from apple music.. and download. And download songs I like but have Ear Crushing.. Nausea inducing... annoying parts..and edit them OUT.. to make a fluent version 😂 That's all I got to say about that. Oh..and.. EDM is Bad MmmmmKay
Brilliant. James is the skillmaster of all djs when it comes to vocal transitions and matching phrases through effects. I bow... you should teach the breakdowns of such performances, sensei!🙏🏻
