Imagine trying to make a push for the playoffs and having three players on your team, with two of them being starters, getting arrested within 4 hours of each other for completely separate and unrelated incidents. Well, in 2001, that's exactly what the Cleveland Browns and head coach Butch Davis had to deal with when Mike Sellers, Lamar Chapman, and Gerard Warren all got arrested in bizarre fashion following a critical victory over the Baltimore Ravens. And the Browns never recovered. This is the story behind the drama

The last six games of the season were worse than if the Cleveland Browns did nothing but spike the ball into the ground on every single play. Great video as usual, and I loved the Afroman "edited verse"! Perfect way to end this!

Given how there were also a ton of Bengals who got in legal trouble not too long after this, I guess being an NFL player in Ohio in the 2000s was too miserable a prospect to not get yourself in trouble.

The worst loss was the Playoff Game in 2002 when the officials didn't allow them to play defense in the second half, and, erroneously claimed the clock expired because they were in FG range, not, to mention the player was illegally held, while, going out-of-bounds, the officials returned the favor one week later, Bill Cowher's hypocritical Postgame reaction was priceless.

That's LB Dwayne Rudd, in an act of premature celebration. Even though he wasn't arrested, he committed an even worse act of celebration on the last play of the 2002 season opener vs. Kansas City. With the Chiefs trailing 39-37, Rudd, thinking he had sacked KC QB Trent Green, pulled off his helmet and threw it. Green, however, lateraled the ball to lineman John Tait, who took it to the Browns' 26. Rudd was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, moving the ball half the distance to the goal. Because the game cannot end on a defensive penalty, the Chiefs, now with an untimed down, won the game, 40-39, on a Morten Andersen field goal.
