Basically we can all agree that UAC shot itself in the leg by carrying out unwise franchising. Thank you for watching and sticking till the end. The sound's good, narrative's on point too, only...work on the video quality! Some images come out a bit too hazy, unclear and muddled up. Other than this, you doing quite pretty well sir.
What a stupid comment. If you want to compliment them, then do so. But to abuse all Nigerians, even those in the diaspora shows your poor level of intellect @iamkrisefobi Do better.
I remember way back in 2008 or so, I got salad from Mr Biggs and it was just Macaroni and cream inside the bowl.. The problem with most businesses in Nigeria is we focus more on taking out profit to spend on personal luxuries than on investing back into our businesses.
I knew of a family member who bought a Mercedes’ Benz immediately his business started booming. He started going to party events. But it wasn’t very long that the business collapsed.
This is true, My mom worked at the head office as head of indoor catering and she opened over 36 Mr Biggs in the whole country, Her opinion is that, everything went under after selling to a foreign company and the conpany added some rules that gave franchisees a little freedom. Which instantly diminished the standard of service and atmosphere. My mom retired right after all that drama in cooperate. 🙃
Wow. Thank you for re-affirming my in-depth research Rose 🙏 It was nice that Mumsi left after all that drama ✅ There are now videos like this on the way 🔥💯
Mr Biggs can still come back with a bang! With social media, you can get people excited and interested in your product, not to mention the sentimental value they still have in people’s hearts . They should focus on what made them beloved in the past: family time, fun time etc. their main focus should be on food combo packages (bringing a unique twist to our daily snacks too) , branded items (like refill coffee cups, lunch bags etc. basically let people get excited when they see that big letter B. Even though there are many restaurants now, there are only a few that are everywhere. Mr B can still be a nationwide sensation, if they focus on consistency and quality. Collaborating with another brand can also help (what they did with Mobil was superb and something like that can still be done)
I personally think the motivation is not there anymore. I wish some company with high spirit can buy the company and put in the necessary effort. Then, we would get that rebirth. Because they have a greater advantage due to their good past history as you said
If they don't have quality control over their franchising, they would get maybe 3 to 6 months and they would run down again. You can't franchise loosely like that, franchises should still follow some uniform strictly enforced guidelines in recipes, menu items, hiring, suppliers etc.
I'm not certain they will want ti experiment this. Those with sentimental attachment have less desire for their signature foods like pies and sausages. The younger generation now have other favourites so cost-benefit analysis may show they may be in the loss
It's the meat pie and ice cream for me too. But nobody remembers their hotdog? Its always in one long bread with plenty things inside. Parents would be like: If you get first I'll take you to Mr Biggs
Childhood memories, who remembered, it's not only from Mr Biggs we get supa strikers, we get them from Texaco too. I would go to buy Mr Biggs meatpie because of supa strikers 😂😂
The video is just too good. Just the thumbnail alone brought in 90% of the viewers and his expertise in narrating keep 99.9% locked in . Enjoy the first class ticket of the RU-vid plane. We anticipate more informative videos like this one.
30 seconds in and I had subscribe . You’d know quality content when you see one. Mr Biggs meat pie was the best hands down. I can still smell right now lol
I still think Mr Biggs has a chance to reclaim its excellence. Its name has STOOD for almost 50 years and the only point when it would be a “failure,” is if it doesn’t try anymore. I’m GenZ and till now, Mr Biggs is actually one of my best eatery - just nonexistent. I’m rooting for it
Great video. This was an assignment I did in one of my courses during my MSc programme in Coventry University UK. Mr Biggs was a big part of my childhood.
Thanks for this documentary. I had friends in the account department of UAC back then and a friend who was a major supplier of AGO to few Mr. Biggs outlet while I was a supplier for Sweet Sensation. The Nigerian factor of corruption within the workforce, inability to keep up with competition and lack of control on the quality of products killed the Mr. Biggs franchise.
Mr Bigg's was literally the king of the fast food chain back in the 90s. You've got yourself a new subscriber. Lovely video 👍. Also, love the fact you snuck in super strikers 🤩.
This was an excellent documentary! The graphics, the audio, the transitions,. everything! Mr Biggs was a huge part of my family's life. It's time has come and gone. There's too many other outlits, both big and small, to choose from for it to have any type of a meaningful revival.
This is a brilliant analysis 👏👏👏 I grew up eating Mr Biggs in the 90’s and early 2000 before the family switched to Switch-Sensation(SS). I could recall vividly whenever I go with my mom to her office in Marina(Broad Street - the Mr Biggs outlet was inside National Oil filling station now known as ConOil) - I am assured of having a Mr. Biggs Lunch and Meat-pie as takeaway. Also, worthy of note is that I would get get to buy my favorite comic book - Super-Strikas(Shegz) - It was only Mr. Biggs that was selling or distributing it then… Until - the quality started dropping and as family we had to switch to SS, TFC(Tastee Fried Chicken), Tetrazinni, Tantalizers(a major competition). You gave a good and comprehensive analysis with the Brand dilution due to the franchise/expansion strategy.
I love your channel! As a fan of Magnates Media, it reminded me so much of his videos, I’m sure you learned from him, if you did, you learned so well. I’m super glad and excited that you’re bringing this to Nigeria!✨🇳🇬
Highly Informative content, at first the MEAT PIE was out of this world. The first meat pie was and is still the best I've ever had. I think someone important left Mr Biggs with his/her secret recipe.
this was a lovely analysis. If you could do more video analysis on Nigerian businesses and companies and how they grew and/or collapsed that would be good to watch. basically more like this. thank you.
This is really exceptional. I honestly thought it was Magnetedia until I saw the name of the channel and heard the voice. Way to go bro. You just earned a subscriber!
One of my goals on this channel is to create contents that can be cited and made reference to in academic research and more 💯 Thank you so much 🙏 There are more on the way 🔥
Oladipupo thank you for the kind words 🙏 Kindly share to more people so they can see this video 🙏 Kindly turn on all post notifications because there are more amazing contents on the way 💯🔥
Their biggest issue was quality control. once they had that initial boom from the franchising, they should have re-strategized to put emphasis on maintaining their standards with quality control and I suppose being active in the supply chain as well would have helped as well as using joint seminars and workshops to keep everyone on their toes and up to date. The Nigerian factor tho.
I remember the day my dad took my brother and I to Mr Biggs... I was so happy I even took the nylon to school the next day , just to brag to my friends.... 😅😅😅
Another bitter truth is that the current restaurants in Nigeria aren't doing well either. Their foods taste is just average. Nothing super about them. I can cook better tasting foods than them.
@@chisomchimezie I am glad you love this video 🙏 There are a whole lot of books you can search for using chatgpt or google. Just type what you need and boom 🚀
This video brought me so much nostalgia & great memories of my childhood. Mr. Biggs was definitely the go to place for your fast food & snacks. It's such a shame how the brand eventually died.
In my opinion, Franchising was the beginning of the death of Mr. Biggs! The Quality of the company went so bad, you will almost see “Bukas” that had the same name of Mr. Biggs. Mr. Biggs was a big part of my childhood, I was disappointed to witness the compromised quality
Doesn't mean expansion through franchising is bad. Must be poor enforcement of standardization. Question, why opt for franchising if you won't ensure standardization?
I am really impresses with this style of documentary. No one has ever done something like this in Nigeria and I believe that there is a deep need for this kind of storytelling in Nigeria. Keep up the good work.
Okay this is content... watched with such rapt attention from the first minute till the very last.❤ Well researched, great audio-visuals, apt story line🤏 More like food for thought for those of us aspiring to be leaders in this industry🤔
Thanks for sharing. I always wondered how Mr. Biggs just disappeared from Nigeria As for your question no need for them to try a comeback. They have lost the market.
Omo no quite o, this is where the money is. I have been researching and practicing so i could jump into RU-vid content creation, and I happened to see a Nigerian doing something good 👍
