If I had hundreds of thousands or couple million to spare I would've done the same. So would you. Bitcoin has been public knwledge since 2012 and the price was nothing right up till early 2017 (for people with kind of money all those guys had in the first place anyway). Zero cost high possibility of return gamble, nothing else.

There's not or to be more precise there won't be. Past surges in price were directly connected to global instability in general or us internal situation and now it's entering institutionary capture phase of its life cycle (ie getting backed by banks and governments). The price will only go up in medium to long term but at the same time it will become impossible for regular person to get any fraction of it.
