► In this video we explore a short biography of the creator of Peter Pan, Scottish novelist Sir James Matthew Barrie (J M Barrie). His portrait is then enhanced, colorized and brought to life with animation using our latest digital technology.
► Sir James Matthew Barrie was a brilliant writer, who came from bonnie Scotland, born in the year 1860. This man, with his creative mind and the quill of an enchanting wordsmith, gave the world the magical character of Peter Pan. Oh, what a wondrous creation it was!
Sir James Barrie emerged from a bustling clan of Scottish weavers, nestled amidst nine siblings. Yet, fate dealt a sorrowful blow upon his tender heart when his elder brother, at the age of fourteen, departed this mortal coil. Grief swept through young James and his dear mother, leaving them bereft of solace.
Yet, in the darkest hour, a glimmer of light beckoned to him - a refuge woven from his mother's tales and the boundless tapestry of his own imagination. Scotland nurtured his inquisitive mind, but the bustling streets of London enticed him in 1885. There, the playwright's path unfurled before him, adorning the literary landscape with his ingenious works.
"Auld Licht Idylls" marked the birth of his success, gracing bookshelves in 1888. It heralded the dawning of a new chapter in Barrie's life. In 1894, he took an actress named Mary Ansell as his bride, yet alas, their union brimmed with discontent. The fickle winds of fate whispered their discord, and in 1909, their marriage succumbed to the throes of divorce. Mary Ansell, bewitched by the affections of another writer, Gilbert Cannan, fluttered away from Barrie's embrace.
In the bustling labyrinth of London, Sir James discovered a band of young souls, the Llewelyn Davies boys. Oh, the ties that bind us in the unlikeliest of circumstances! These boys, grandsons to the illustrious writer and caricaturist George du Maurier, kindled a flame within Barrie's heart. They breathed life into his creative spirit, becoming the wellspring of inspiration for his crowning achievement - none other than "Peter Pan," the boy destined never to grow old.
Enraptured by their enchanting presence, Barrie opened his arms wide and adopted the Llewelyn Davies boys after their mother embarked upon her final journey. Peter Pan first sprang forth from the pages of "The Little White Bird" in 1902, dancing upon the stage of literature. And lo, in 1904, his play "Peter Pan" took flight upon the wings of thespian artistry, captivating audiences in the illustrious West End's Theatre.
In the year 1911, Barrie's fertile mind transformed his beloved "Peter Pan" play into the enchanting novel we know as "Peter and Wendy." His literary prowess and enchanting tales caught the eye of none other than King George V, who, recognizing the magic that emanated from Barrie's pen, graced him with a baronetcy in 1913. Such recognition was not the sole jewel adorning his crown, for in 1922, the Order of Merit bestowed its prestigious honor upon him.
But, alas, as the pages of life turned, so too did they bear the weight of passing years. In the year 1937, at the age of seventy-seven, Sir James Matthew Barrie breathed his last, departing this world and leaving behind a legacy of wonder and fantasy that still casts its spell upon the hearts of dreamers far and wide.

I like to think myself as a old school semi tough construction manager🤬, not easily emotionally impaired😠. But the is something so beautiful about Mystery Scoop's posts that I get a lump in my throat🥺 as I watch the past come to life and once lifeless photos brim with emotion and humanity🥰. This is the type of modern technology and human ingenuity that truly is a wonder and privilege to view. Thank you Mystery Scoop😉.

What makes these videos so wonderful, and allows them to touch my heart, is when they smile. All the old pictures show them so stern that there doesn’t seem to be any life in them. But, you making them smile and having their eyes crinkle and sparkle, and having them turn their head slightly truly brings them alive for me. It changes an old, flat, black and white photo into a real, breathing person. Thank you so much, most especially when you do this for my favorite authors. ❤

Well that's just the normal thing in society back then because smiling was not so common inputting to their pictures because they think it looks ridiculous.

I read that the story of Peter Pan was inspired by an ice skating accident where a young boy pushed another young boy (Peter), & he fell & hit his head on the ice, killing him...thus the boy who never grew up. His spirit is forever as that young boy.
@eliseintheattic9697
@eliseintheattic9697 Год назад
That's kind of true. The boy who died while ice skating was his brother David. He was their mother's favorite and his death greatly affect Barrie. His mother said that because David died young, that he would never grow up.

Thank you, Mystery Scoop. Another winner! *Writers & Poets - J. M. Barrie* [Credit: futuremuseum] _J.M. Barrie_ Sir James Matthew Barrie, the celebrated Scottish novelist and playwright, whose most famous creation is 'Peter Pan', came to live in Dumfries, Scotland, at the age of 13. He and his friends played in the riverside garden of Moat Brae House. Their favourite game was pirates, and in later years he recalled that this happy time had inspired his play: 'Peter Pan, Or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up.' Stay free. Rab 🍻 😎 🕊

His story is inspiring and makes you sad and think about life, your restoration is gorgeous and makes you think that this man is looking at us right now through the prism of screens I would love to see the restoration of the portrait of Mahidevran Gulbahar Hatun and her son Mustafa and listen to their story again, by the way Sehzade Mustafa has two portraits, if I am not mistaken, he was much loved by the people and the Janissaries. But his end is too tragic, and Mahidevran survived him, but lived in poverty and in exile, because Suleiman ordered so, she even outlived him and his wife and like all his children, such was the price of longevity for her, unfortunately.

That was fantastic. Your videos continue to get better each time. Thank you. I have a good photo of my mother born in 1921. I think she is about six months old. I wish I could make her come alive like this.

What did Mr. Barrie do to the boys? Are there videos about him?

I don't fully know the story of him and the boys, but I know that his character Peter Pan is supposed to be a villain, a manipulative war monger and actually kills the children he lures when they start aging, that's why they never grow up. Or they're killed by the pirates Peter's at war with. He's a "demon boy," Barrie himself wrote in his notes about Peter. The way Disney and Broadway sanitized this is actually sicker than the original story, imo.

@@laurapritchard1617 Though there is not much historical evidence except the book about Peter Pan but either Barrie was a p*phile or he himself was the victim of one.

There was one Peter Pan aka James Barrie... But it sounds like that there was a 1st Mary aka Wendy and other multiple Marys/Wendys who descended from her. Like he didn't marry the first Mary/Wendy because he didn't want to grow up, and thats what the first Mary/Wendy told him to do... James/Pan is a demon who loved the young Mary/Wendy, the reason why he always had a new Wendy and a new lot of lastboys...
