In 1991, there were over six hundred murders in the UK, and most cases ended in a conviction.

The reason cases went on Crimewatch was because they were struggling to solve the case. So not really that surprising. Most of these high profile Crimewatch murders ended up being solved years later only because of DNA.

Penny bell murder is another strange one. The husband was in an 11 year relationship with a man prior to his relationship with penny. He collected a HUGE 200k payout from her life insurance and also obtained her estate. He seemed extremely apathetic in the interview, almost void of emotion. He smirked at one point. His daughter gave an interview years later saying he eventually disowned her. “The tragedy of Penny Bell's murder didn't end on June 6. Ten years later, when Lauren was 19, her father, Alistair, told his daughter he "couldn't do love anymore" and asked her to leave the family home. Her brother had left some years prior for boarding school. "I feel more scarred about the breakdown of my relationship with my father than I do my mom," says Lauren. "My mom didn't have a choice of not being here. But when your only parent left, the person who is supposed to love you unconditionally, turns around and tells you they don't want you anymore… it wounded me beyond belief. And I wish it had been that kind. He was acidic in the way he did it. He told me he wished he'd never met my mother because then he wouldn't be in this situation. I feel convinced my life is better off for it now, but it was devastating at the time.” Honestly, only a psychopath would disown their own child. Only someone completely cold. If you can disown your own flesh and blood, what could you do to your wife? He either paid someone or did it himself. I’m sorry but I would put money on it.

The One I think it was a professional job of some sort. It seems that way. I’m minded to think that she may have been in a relationship with someone else,.. I think it was probably one of the other.

Re the Alan Leppard reconstruction, if Brenda saw people knocking the door from a bedroom window the first or second time, I would have asked from that window what they wanted, I do this anyway from my own bedroom window, I never initially go downstairs to speak to anyone at front door first nor does my wife, not until we have assessed the situation thoroughly. Despite the gap between the killings, it is classed as a double murder. Brenda's cause of death was registered as Unlawful Killing by a person or persons unknown. Alan had already been divorced four times. Could he have financially gained from these divorces which caused friction. When he was murderd, did Brenda inherit it all? The daughter, Lauren Bell, said that "the ferocity of the attack suggests a crime of passion ... I think it was someone who wanted her but couldn't have her." The main suspect is well known - former neighbour John Richmond. He told a newspaper he'd been with Penny on the day of the murder and said they were having an affair. He was arrested but it didn't progress. He later made bizarre claims that Penny had been killed by an assassin and he had been paid £300,000 to keep quiet. He said the person who wanted her dead had asked him who to hire, but he hadn't realised it was penny who'd be killed.

Nick Ross has gone on record for saying how his later co-presenter Jill Dando's killing couldn't be a professional hit because of how "amateurish" it was. Yet here, in the cases of Peter Rossini and Alan Lappard, he acknowledges the crimes were professional but also says the killers left amateurish clues. Doesn't seem consistent. I'm not sure he's as criminally aware as he thinks he is.

Britain had undergone a violent crime surge in the 80s and into the early 90s, giving us the highest violent crime rate in Europe. They were pretty grey, grime times with a huge amount of unemployment. Drugs started to become a major feature of crime and that brought increased violence both from drug addicts and criminals.

The poor areas of France - they think NOTHING of having fire bomb riots every weekend there! Prostitution and drugs are legal in Holland - much more rife than in the UK. Why did so many EU citizens apply to live here after Brexit - 5 million! Can't be that bad! Only ONE MILLION Brits live in the EU. It is MUCH BETTER HERE!

I would suggest it is possible that Ron Harrison was the vulnerable one! There are people that would abuse him simply because he was gay. Like the two men who killed him. Shame on you for casting aspersions on a man who was brutally murdered and cannot defend himself. The eighties and nineties were terrible times for LGBT people. I suggest maybe Ron was lonely and looking for love and not the dark and sexual predator you are suggesting he is. Then to say "no loss" says so much about the kind of person you are.
