Let's look at some of the first (surprising) reactions to Avatar: The Way of the Water ---------- Follow me: Twitter: / miajmedia Instagram: / miajmedia
So the whole James Cameron + wet thing - that's talking about Titanic and The Abyss. Speaking of wet, I'm still annoyed that after "Tangled" and "Frozen", Disney didn't title the Moana Disney Princess movie "Wet".
It's not the CGI. Its James Cameron and his skills with 3D cinematography. He can immerse us in a world like Pandora and he doesnt even need those silly glasses. He proved it with The Terminator, T2, Aliens and Titanic. No one else in Hollywood can do what James Cameron does
Not gonna lie… with all the good reviews recently, I’m actually really interested to see it now. I feel like there’s really no other movie that I’ve heard of where the visuals play such a huge role in the film (besides Avatar 1, I suppose). So I’d go just to see what a spectacle this is
"last one came out in 2009. What's going on here?" - Pretty simple really, it just took that long for James Cameron to make it. I mean ... yeah, he did other stuff in the meantime, but that's not so unusual. Basically, he reached a point where he could make whatever the heck he wanted, rather than what he could sell or what others ordered. But he happens to want to make ridiculously high budget SFX films, so it takes more time to line up the money and everything. Some say his plots are cheesy; boyish; but I really think that's just what he happens to like and he's in a place where he doesn't need to care what anyone else thinks. I mean seriously ... he thought Avatar was going to wow us with its incredible love story, but ... hahahaha ... To be fair, audiences did go nuts over Titanic after EVERYONE was laughing at the reportedly nightmare out-of-control production. The bottom line is that Cameron is clearly making movies aimed at his own tastes and he's going to keep on doing that. The rest of us can just enjoy his work for what it is or ignore it and get over ourselves.
Oh yeah. I suppose, the big thing here is that Disney is really investing a lot in this. And so this feels like a pivotal film bc a lot hinges on the success of this sequel. So yeah, it’s a lot of money to make things look great and him creating the movie he likes. But also on the other end is making sure all this effort will equate to the audience continuing to resonate with these films. I say all that from a completely objective standpoint, haha. Just an observation about how curious this sequel is. What will audiences think of the blue people in 2022? 😆
@@MiaJohnson I just wish James Cameron were a hardcore The Smurfs fan, so ... like ... imagine he did the Avatar franchise but with The Smurfs. And he like went full bore with it. That would have been so glorious.
