Boy, does this bring back some memories! Yep, I'm old. Before internet, cell phones, cable TV, seeing who could make their jalopy spin the most in the wet fields, just good clean fun and times. The only burger drive-in we had in our small town was called the "Eat and Run", which we lovingly called the Scarf and Barf. What great times. Thanks for the memories.

Frank Lovejoy and his wife Joan Banks worked together in many projects from the radio to movies and television. She was a great Actress in her own right and he made quite a name for himself prior to his early death of a heart attack at age 50 in 1962. Joan Banks lived until age 79 passing away in 1998. All donations at the time of her death were to be left to the Motion Picture Retirement Home in Woodland Hills. Many of the older Stars greatly supported the Motion Picture Retirement Home and helped to keep it running. Such is not the case with the Actors today in Hollywood, as the Home has in recent years limited its' services and was near bankruptcy on several occasions. Joan Crawford was another big donor to the Home during her entire life as was the case with many of the older Stars. The older stars remembered the Actor's in need of such a retirement home which is not the case with the Actors and Actresses in Hollywood today.

The special hamburger place when I was a teen was "Steak & Shake" in suburban St. Louis. The parking lot was a horseshoe shape around the main building. Teens would drive in and "back-in" to the parking spaces around the horseshoe on Friday and Saturday nights. Then, while eating burgers, we'd watch an endless parade of other teens in their cars slowly parading through the horseshoe parking lot. Most just wanted to show off their car and the girl they were with that night. And yes, there were "car hops" and hang-on-the-window trays! Their burgers back then were better than McDonalds. It was THE place to show up at on Friday and Saturday nights. No self-respecting teen missed out on joining the "parade" at "Steak"!

Loved watching Richard Denning work--what a smooth operator. But Mari was a hoot especially when she was cornered and spouted the vituperative line: "What about my honey moon? What about my security? I thought you had class!" with withering aggression. Do you know she had polio as a kid, survived it then ran off in her teens to join the circus? She listed her birthday as somewhere between 1927 and 1932 but she was actually born on April 13, 1923 in Long Beach California. For those of you who are wondering--yes, it was a Friday. So, this Friday the thirteenth blonde beauty grew up, was married three times (the first for one year, the second for one year and the third time for 2 years) and we can safely assume she was not acting, that is who she was.
